Staff were very good and no problems with food or dining room. Room we were given had an ac unit only in lounge and not bedrooms. Unit was old and noisy and after turning on for 2 minutes blew the electrics at the mains several times. Reception was helpful and moved us to another room which was better but no ac units in bedrooms so overall quite warm. They did provide a fan but that was noisy. Room was not clean and needs a good update. No curtains in second bedroom at all. Overall not what I expected from Mercure and would not recommend this hotel to stay at. Not the people’s fault but hotel needs a good make over.

It works for a 3 star accommodation hotel. However there appears to be a fundamental
Shortage of towels. Be prepared as a guest to get interrupted for dirty towels around 9am and then again about 4pm when clean towels are delivered. Very unusual as the majority of hotels I have stayed in remove dirty towels and replace them at the same time as the daily cleaning of the hotel room.

Has all the bases covered - but nothing wow. Amenities are a little dated - the TV channels were not great considering it was a Rugby World Cup match and it was not showing. The food court nearby was not great - closed a little early and the food was not great quality - even for national franchises.

The property had a generator most places the lights go out. It aslo had a restaurant with a bar which was cool. Front receptionist guy was really nice. I didn't like the bathtub was dirty the appliances was outdated and family of 5 only had 2 towels but that was resolved quickly. The bedrooms DONT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING! So overall its good for the price. The mall is walking distance right across the street. Only 13 minutes from the airport.

Located at entrance 6 to Eastgate mall. Shopping and dining is quick and convenient if you don't have a car. Also close to Lughtsculpt if you want spa treatment for a few days. Kitchenettes are nice, rooms are clean but dated. Furniture is a bit worn but property clean, safe and perfect location.

This hotel needs a bit of renovations, breakfast was ok but the presentation of food needs some work over & a better trained staff. Things are not always consistent with procedures. It is in a good location for my needs, however the area is becoming more dangerous & lots of litter is thrown around with broken sidewalks which deters tourists from the area. Management should be concern about this.

There were a few missteps in communications, but overall the staff was friendly but lacking in knowledgeable places to go. The hotel is in a good location, but walking distance to Bedford Center is dangerous. Taxis service was available but expensive to go short distances. I got the impression many times that they weren't interested in serving guest.
The property itself was nice, but renovations are badly needed. Rooms are dark, furniture is very worn, needs updating.

HOTEL SELF NOT PROBLEM BUT THE NOISE FROM THE CLIENTS TERRIBLE. ROOM NEXT TO USE WE COULD NOT SLEEP THEY SLAM THE DOORS UNTILL AFTER 12H00 AT NIGHT. FOR THE FUTURE PLEASE TELL THE PEOPLE TO CONSIDER THE OTHER CLIENTS NEXT TO THEM AS WELL. WE TRAVEL FROM FAR UNDER DIFFICULT SITUATION AND TIRED AND JUST THE NOISE WAS TERRIBLE.

Worst experience ever

Worst couple nights of my life. It is now 3h30am and I cannot sleep, due to loud generators and fans next to my room. There is no ac in the bedroom, so to make matters worse, I have to open windows. There is not even a fan in the bedroom. Our TV has not worked from day one and nobody seems bothered to come and fix it, after enquiring about it several times. We had no kettle in our suite. After walking to front desk, in the rain, to ask about this, we were given a kettle with such a short power cord, that it does not reach the wall socket in the kitchen.
I would not come back here if I was paid to do so.

Service was amazing. The front desk lady was brilliant. The room was clean, but for a room that should sleep 4, there was only 1 glass, 2 cups. Many of the lights did not work. We stayed in room 502. If I am ever in Johannesburg again, I will make use of the Mecure hotel as it was overall great and well situated.

This hotel needs a serious upgrade and some new management to oversea the standard of the units / rooms. Linen and towels are old and in terrible condition. Tiles cracked in the bathroom, mirrors old and rusted, toilet seat completely loose and broken. We were a family of 4, staying in a 2 bedroom unit. But the kitchen was equipt with only 2 of everything. Only 1 bath towel and 1 hand towels. No bath mat. When asking for more towels we waited more than 30 min for it. We are very disappointed in the overall standard of this hotel. After complaining, the manager apologized and said he will correct the errors. Needless to say, nothing had changed. Not value for money. Will not stay at any Meecure hotel again. Sadly.

The Hotel have all the conditions to be 4 stars:
- very well situated with quick access to the airport and a big mall just in front
- good space to park the car
- room with a large bed and toilet with bathtube and shower
- kitchnet
But it have an old ambience. Mainly the bathroom needs some modernization.

It wasn't as I was expecting. Room service toped the list of poor quality service for not giving me towels. I found one towel to use for myself and my partner. I had to go by myself a big towel. This I've never experienced this on any hotel I visited. Even the most cheaper one line like sun 1 never had this.

I had to move from first room I was given due to bed bugs. They gave me a second room which I lugged all my luggage to by myself. The second room had tv on , window open with no screen like someone had been using room and the door did not lock. Third room had window open with no screen but I was tired of moving so kept room.

This was one of the worst stay I ever had in my many travels. I arrived late because of flight delays and was given a room that smelt moth balls in both bedrooms, my chest became congested, I couldn't sleep, tried to open all widows wide open and have the AC on. I started coughing and have yet to recover from that congestion and cough. In the morning I was moved to a better room. I requested an iron andan ironing board, that was never delivered to me until I had to wear the same clothes I arrived in. When I returned late afternoon, I reminded them of my request for an iron and ironing board; the lady at the reception promised to personally bring those to me, to no avail, until I went to bed. The next day I had to wear the same dress I had on for two days. This was a nightmarish experience. The place is way overrated, definitely not worthy what they are charging. This is my third stay there and it seems to be going down with each passing day.

Perfect location for shopping

We stayed here for one night due as we had a mid-afternoon flight out of JNB the next day - ideal location for Bedfordview Shopping Mall and was only about 10mins drive from airport. We used the hotels airport shuttle service to pick up and drop off at airport, which was decent value for 250ZAR. Only expected a hotel room when we arrived so were pleasantly surprised to have a small apartment for our stay.

Some outstanding staff members!

We went to Johannesburg for a wedding and stayed at Mercure. Coming from the UK and having visited many other western cities J'Burg was a bit of a surprise and we felt a bit unsafe after dark. However, the hotel was like an oasis to us; it was in a really good neighbourhood and the staff (specifically Hopewell and Dumi) were truly amazing. Hopewell went out of his way to make me and my family welcome on our first day and Dumi was extremely understanding (and helpful) when it turned out that I'd messed up the booking for an extra day.
I'll definitely stay there again if I do visit SA again.

Decent hotel but the breakfast is overpriced

The hotel is decent but the charge for breakfast is not included in the room rate (breakfast is about $12) and neither lunch nor dinner is provided. Had I known that meals were so pricey I probably would have booked a stay elsewhere. However, their is a mall opposite the hotel, which has a fully-stocked grocery store and plenty of restaurants so a guest can either do groceries at the mall and cook for themselves to save money or buy meals at the eateries in the mall.

Another issue is that the internet service that is quite slow and only the first 100 Mb is provided free of charge any given day. If you have to upload/download files, it quickly runs out and then you have to buy internet or use the internet in the hotel lobby. So all in all, the room rate is not such a great deal if you take into account the lack of meals and the limited Internet access.

I was happy with everything just I booked on time for a smokers and was available but my surprise when I get there they say its full I had to take anything available and had to go out for smoking,next time I will like to get what I booked for but everything was perfect and the cleaners please they must make sure if I ddnt put the sign MAKE UP MY room they musnt come in and they took my towels and ddnt replace them had to go and ask for towels late.but clean was the best and the guy who was assisting me was very friendly big up to him good customer service.

I stay here whenever I visit joburg, location is very ideal exactly between airport and Sandton, most places in and around joburg are nicely reachable. Hotel is opposite to Eastgate mall, hence can spend nice time if you have some free time. Have facility to order food from the room thru Mr Delivery. Only bothering to me is their slow internet speed. Studio rooms are ideal for single person stay.

Great location in Bedford View next to Eastgate

Comfortabel hotel and a great location, close to airport and shopping at Eastgate Mall. Friendly staff and secure parking. The small kitchen would benefit from having a pot or frying pan, really you can only re-heat take away in the microwave, but for short stay that is fine. The studio room has very noisy AC and the 1/2 bedroom suites have no AC in the bedroom, but this was not an issue.

our Regular hotel when passing through Jo'Berg

we regularly connect through Jo'Berg on are travels around Africa. This hotel is a great place to over night between flights. 15mins from the airport and a large apartment like suite means it doesn't feel like a hotel. It's location next to a mall allows us to restock before heading out to more remote locations. The hotel decor is a little dated but it is clean and comfortable, exactly what is needed to break up a two day travel plan.

We were in the city for a conference. The hotel was well situated and very comfortable. We traveled with two of our children and they loved the amount of room we had and the comfort of the facilities. We felt safe and secure and were very pleased with everything.

Great stay at the Mercure Inn Bedfordview, super location, central to shopping. Rooms were clean and comfortable. TV not so great as it is on the wall and far to view (we moved the couch!). Also the shower head is too high and the water pressure too low, so one waits for a drip!.However, would stay at the Mercure again.

At check-in we were not greeted at all. In fact I don't think there were even words exchanged by your staff member and I, very disappointing. She was more concerned with speaking to her college. However the lady on duty when we checked out was fantastic. She was polite, efficient and very friendly. She knows how to make a client feel very welcome, pity we were leaving.

This place just isn't good value when you compare it to hotels that have free breakfast and unlimited wifi - i.e., MOST hotels of this class in the 21st century! The 100MB of free wifi is stingy - lasts through just a few pages of email!

The Mercure is nice and close to a decent mall, and very convenient for getting to/from the airport. However, it is not particularly nice, the TV reception is spotty in some rooms, and the staff is not very friendly. The most annoying thing is the \"free\" internet that only last for 100MB - about ten minutes when checking my email and reading the newspaper. Forget about doing something like skype - you'll be paying for every minute. No free breakfast either. Between the cost of breakfast and internet, this place is clearly NOT worth it. Won't be staying here again unless I am desperate to stay super close to the airport and in walking distance to a mall - not high priorities for me.
