The hotel is very conveniently located within walking distance of the castle and the city centre. It is in a quiet location. Reasonably priced. Rooms are large but bathrooms do not have anything but a bottle of body wash/shampoo and the shower is a health hazard because of its slippery floor with nothing to hang onto.

Fantastic hotel with a bit of a lack-luster menu.

The room was air conditioned and comfy and we especially enjoyed the Pool area and the Cold Water refill machine. The staff were polite and sorted things without fuss. There is a lovely green area to sit in the evenings or have lunch in the shade. The only downside for us was the food options. It was a pretty limited menu, expensive for the portion size and there were no real lunch type options or snack options luck sandwiches. It was the same menu all day. The food was okay but we recommend venturing out into the town to eat.

A couple of things disappointed us. First the mattress cover under the sheet was awful and meant that you stuck to it through the sheet we have stayed in many lower star rated hotels and never had this problem and can only think it was a really poor quality item. Secondly our charcuterie board that we ordered for lunch came with butter but we weren’t offered any bread ?

Wonderful stay! Friendly staff, lovely hotel, beautiful part of Fontainbleau, close access to both forest trails and the city center. Really great value for money. Bed was very comfortable, room was clean, the grounds are lovely and everyone who was staying there seemed to really just enjoy the atmosphere. Will definitely return!

Hotel is very nice and in a good area of town. Upon arrival we were greeted and helped by a nice staff member who arranged a taxi for us. This was the only positive experience with the staff. Later, we inquired about dinner and the staff told us they were fully booked and suggested we try Uber eats instead of helping us to find a suitable option in town. We asked if we could sit at the bar for a drink, but were denied due to them being fully booked. Luckily, we found a dining option on our own. Later, the music continued shaking our room into the early hours of the morning. A terribly unpleasant experience at a hotel that otherwise seemed quite nice. A bit more customer service would have gone a long way. We will be writing to the management with a formal complaint.

Very nice hotel, stayed there to celebrate 27th Wedding Anniversary. Didn’t use restaurant as very expensive as were drinks. Some very nice restaurants in nearby town. Good location for palace of Fontainebleau and shops etc Nearby to local Parkrun!

Perfect Tourist Hotel with all expected amenities. You won't be disappointed, especially if you've stayed a \" typical \" French Hotels. This Hotel is spacious, has Mini Bar, Restaurant, good breakfast and very important A/C. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. There are other hotels closer to shopping and the center of town...but this hotel offers free no hassle parking and the attractions and shopping are a short walk.

Great hotel next to INSEAD

Stayed for 5 nights during an INSEAD course. Only 5 mins walk from the campus which is very convenient. Rooms are comfortable, nice breakfast, great lounge area. The front desk team were particularly wonderful. Great service and go out of their way to assist when needed. I particularly want to mention Sophie who was so helpful in helping me try track down my lost mobile phone.

This is no 4-star hotel!

The hotel is not taken care of. Trashes on the parking ground, no trash can in the rooms, tv remote which needs to be put 5 cms away from the TV otherwise does not work, broken shower, lousy music (AC/DC) during breakfast time, etc.
The hotel manager clearly does not really pay attention to his guests and does not do what it takes to keep the hotel in good conditions.

Clearly not a 4-star hotel and definitively below Mercure hotels standards.

Located in a nice area but definitively not worth the price / the hotel stars

Not Worth the Huge Price

This hotel was way overpriced. The toilet didn't flush consistently and the tub wouldn't keep water in so no relaxing bath. There was only a tiny bar/restaurant. I shouldn't call it a restaurant, but more of an eatery. Not enough parking, which is supposed to be free self-parking. Breakfast was good, but extra. It tried to be chic and modern, but came up short.

Booked the hotel just a few hours before checking in as we had a horrible experience at another place and needed a quick alternative. Receptionist was very understanding and let us check in early. She also recommended some really nice places to eat in Fontainebleau. Room was clean and comfortable. The mattress was on the soft side for me. Plenty of Parking available. One minor negative: we returned very late from a party and the parking gate closed behind us and their intercom wasn't working and the door from underground parking to reception was locked. So had to call them after walking round for 10min. Overall a good hotel and stay.

Convenient place to stay for Fontainebleau visit

Stayed one night in August 2016 in order to visit Fontainebleau palace. Arrived by car. Check in convenient and fast. Good parking. Had to request room change because of proximity to ongoing renovations but staff was wholly accommodating to that request. Nice lobby area. Hallways somewhat dim and dusty. Room was nice. Beware limited head clearance in shower, that was odd. Really good breakfast buffet, pay what you get for in this case. Staff very friendly. Dog friendly. Enjoyed our stay.

Great Potential...Just Needs Facelift

Frequently (approx 4x/yr) visit Fontainebleau to visit family/friends and have always stayed in a Novotel about 15 miles away in Ury but saw this Mercure on Hotels.com and, against the advice of family, and, well, they were right. The location is phenomenal and is popular enough thanks to that but the rooms are in dire need of updates (as many Accor hotels are in the process of doing now) if they hope to build repeat customers.

It's easy to tell that hotel is mainly used for business stays. It's a bit old and would most probably benefit a little decoration refurbishing. We arrived late and I could tell that the person at the reception was clearly doing his job because he has to. Not much of an effort. Anyway, there are better places to stay at in Fontainebleau.

Good quality Mercure Hotel in a lovely location close to main town. Good, secure parking. Hotel offers tea/coffee making facility in rooms, which is unusual for france. However, trying to obtain additional tea and milk proved to be troublesome for the member of staff we asked - like asking for something to which we were not entitled! Shame as it deterred from a good overnignt stay.

Good hotel; shame about the unadvertised position

This is a good hotel; very nicely decorated and everything works well. However, we were led to believe that the hotel was closer into the centre of Fontainbleau than it actually is. The advert said that Rue Royale was just opposite the main gate of the Chateau. This is true. What we were not told is that Rue Royale is a very long road and the hotel is right up at the top of the road and the one-way system means that you have actually got to leave Fontainbleau and come back round the outer roads to get to the hotel. We would have been there a lot quicker if we had known this. As it was a lovely day we enjoyed our walk down into the town for our evening meal. If it had been raining I think we would have been very upset and very wet!

Nice town. Great hotel.

This was a nice stay. We came in by train and had to take a taxi to the hotel. The town is relatively small and quiet for an evening walk. This hotel had no air conditioning which would be my only complaint if the weather was warmer. I prefer a cold room. My wife said that the temperature in the room was fine. I found it bearable. So no real complaint there. The restaurant was friendly as well. The front desk staff was very attentive and warm. We enjoyed this stay. Unfortunately we may never have a chance to go back to Fontainbleau but will recommend the Mercure to anyone going.

\"Demeure de campagne\" est une appellation totalement galvaudée pour cet hotel qui est situé a proximité immediate de la nationale et qui ne dispose que d'un petit bout de jardin qui donne directement sur le parking.

La piscine était froide et toute petite. La partie couverte (seule partie accessible en hiver) est un pédiluve.

Nous avons pris deux desserts au coin du feu (la cheminée ne tirait pas) qui se sont révélés excessivement décevants... donc trop cher.

Le matin, des gens qui faisaient des travaux de peinture dans le couloir de notre chambre parlaient tellement fort qu'ils nous ont réveillés.

Les points positifs: beaucoup de jeux de sociétés disponibles pour jouer et se détendre au coin du feu (malgré la fumée), literie de bonne qualité, l'hotel est propre dans l'ensemble, le personnel est agréable.

Chambre correcte mais hôtel qui commence à vieillir. La peinture dans les couloirs s'écaille ... ainsi que dans le salle de bains. Néanmoins, l'ensemble reste acceptable. Ce qui n'est le cas du restaurant qui est à fuir, vraiment et réellement à éviter. On m'a servi un poisson surgelé mal décongelé baignant dans un eau qui se voulait être une sauce. Même constant en échangeant avec les autres convives autour de moi.

Réservé 2 chambres, à l’arrivée la réception nous indique n’avoir qu’une chambre réservée ??? Après palabres une deuxième chambre est mise à disposition. Une empreinte bancaire de la carte servant au paiement est prise pour 1.000 €. Ceci est prohibitif !!!! Le soir même, cet établissement débite 510 € sur carte bancaire {23h15) ???? Le lendemain matin à 7h un responsable de cet établissement appelle et nous réveille, afin. De savoir pourquoi, nous ne nous sommes pas présentés à l’hôtel, la veille ??? Alors que nous occupions deux chambres (au même nom) le responsable s’excuse de cet impair et b-non de nous avoir réveillé ??? Manque de tact ! Nous demandons pourquoi notre carte à été débitée de 510€. On se perd dans des explications qui n’ont ni queue, ni tête, avant de nous dire que remboursement de cette somme était demandé ……… Donc pour résumer, hôtel bien entretenu, restaurant ok, cadre sympa, emplacement super. Dommage que tout ceci soit gâché par un service réception et suivi clientèle pas à la hauteur

Nous avons eu un lit twin, ce qui n'était pas idéal car les lits avaient tendance à s'écarter de temps en temps. Cela dit, ils étaient confortables.
La chambre était très propre, ce qui est un bon point.

Le gros point négatif concerne le restaurant : nous avons payé 30 euros pour un buffet froid, composé uniquement d'entrées, de salades et de desserts. Le choix était assez limité, ce qui ne justifie pas vraiment le prix demandé. Cela mériterait d'être revu pour mieux satisfaire les clients.

En dehors de cela, nous avons passé un bon séjour. Le personnel est serviable et les cocktails sont très bons.

Piscine beaucoup trop petite et prise d’assaut quand il fait plus de 30•
Petit déjeuner médiocre. Pas de fruits de saison. Viennoiseries desséchées.
Les plus : un très jolie jardin avec des poules en liberté un parking accessible facilement.

Excellent hotel et à proximité du centre-ville et du château. Belle piscine bien agréable au mois d’août et le personnel est fort agréable
