this is a very old building right near the palace. Look like it was once home to aristocracy. The room was nice but basic. Very dark until I was able to open the metal shutters covering the windows.

It was a nice place, but rooms were tired and worn. The a/c never managed to blow cold, so this was a huge disappointment for us. Also the staff seemed to have a hard time managing breakfast and keeping food stocked.

On the flip side the dront desk staff were amazing and kind. The location was nice for walkability. Our bathroom was Amazing!!!

Perfectly situated in the centre of Fontainebleau and opposite the chateau. Napoleon underground car park right opposite but be aware that your vehicle must be under 1.85m so not possible for us. This should be made clear on the hotel details as it’s difficult to reverse onto main road. Foyer and bar are really stylish if a little cold with a drain type smell on the way to the lifts. The room was a good size but slightly dated and there was an unpleasant smell. New and upgraded shower room. Bed was comfortable and the room was really quiet. Overall a great place to stay with some maintenance and upgrading required in certain areas. We didn’t eat at the hotel as the breakfast was expensive and plenty of other options in the town.

The hotel is quaint and historical - but also modern, warm and welcoming. It is perfectly located in the middle of a beautiful French town/village steeped in history. But above all the staff make you feel like you are home - the manager Clara is exceptionally gifted at making you feel welcome. I travel frequently and I have to say, the customer service at this property is five star across the board. I highly recommend this property.

Rooms were fine, although air conditioning seemed not to work! Only one night stay. Staff were very helpful when our car was broken into - they made a huge effort for it not to spoil our stay. Fab breakfast! I would probably pay a little extra next time to have a better room (we had standard double) but it was no more or less that what we needed.

One night in Fontainbleau

It would have been helpful to know in advance that on arrival, there is nowhere to stop outside the hotel. It would have saved time and frustration driving round to find where to stop to unload luggage and book in. Had I been told first to park in the car park opposite the hotel, that would have been helpful. The hotel needs refurbishment in part, although the bathroom was modern. All staff were extremely helpful and polite. I was helped with luggage from the car park by a very polite young man. Breakfast in the room at 26 Euros was OK, but like most hotels in France, overpriced.

The location is outstanding! If you go to Fontainebleau that is the place to stay. Walking distance to everything. The staff is wonderful very friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. With a lift, which is always great. Doesn’t have a restaurant open all day, but you have many options right next door.
Loved the hotel. Would truly recommend it.

Well to start room was not as expected thought it would be bigger, not like pic on website at all rundown television did not would inchilds room both DVD players wouldn't work , was no robes or slippers in room and was bitten by bug that cauaemy whole had to turn bright red and swell and the odor coming from room .. unexplainable and to top off stuff got locked in safe and had to wait till morning to get someone to get out ..disappointed to put mildly

Great stay in middle of Fontainebleau

Hotel room was very comfortable. There is a small lift but still a few stairs. The stairs are manageable but don’t expect help from the young staff with the luggage. Parking is in a public car park under the village but it is very clean and easy to park. A lift brings you 10 metres from hotel. You do need to look for the signs for the car park. We drove around 3 times before we found it. Once you know where it is it is easy. Hotel is right in the middle of the village and 10 minute walk to the Chateau. There is a boulangerie 2 streets behind the hotel that has the best croissants ever.

Convenient for a visit to Fontainebleau

My experience with Aigle Noir Hotel began with a near-panic when I arrived late Saturday evening and could not find the hotel! After driving around the crowded, congested few blocks where the hotel was supposed to be, and asking for help, I finally discovered the hotel was hidden behind the busy sure of restaurants and a carousel. I was frustrated to find no way to drive up to the hotel to unload luggage. No place to park, unless I was willing to drive into underground parking garage or park two blocks away, down a dark street. Neither of these options were appealing to me - a single woman late at night. No one was available at the hotel to accompany me. I was not a happy camper. Finally found a place where I could unload luggage and schlep it to hotel. Took a chance and left car there for the night.
When I asked if there was a bar - which I really was looking forward to - the answer was yes. But it was a self serve, honor corner shelf with various refreshments and alcohol.
In the morning I enjoyed the buffet 'Petit dejeuner'. The staff was friendly and professional.

The lobby and breakfast room is lovely it has history, and the staff are always courteous and helpful and smiling! Nice change from Paris! This place is immaculate, we had a rather strange but huge suite, on the ground floor, which did not go with the pictures of the suite I had booked so, I can't say what the rooms are like. But it was funky for sure. It had a waterbed and disco lights and a private bar and looked like a little home in a theatre decor. I was upgraded... not the classic thing but so much space it was wonderful. The terrace in front meant you can enjoy sitting in the sun for drinks of coffee or nothing.... just chilling.. waiting for others.. I was so glad to be in this hotel it was a wonderful place and I am for sure going again.
All the staff made you feel like they wanted you to be really happy and comfortable and nothing was a problem. I had to have somethings printed and scanned and resent, and it was easy and a happy to help attitude.. What more can you ask for?

A treat in Fontainebleau

Fabulous hotel, right in the centre of all this beautiful town has to offer. Only a short stroll to the stunning Chateau and gardens and right in amongst all the restaurants and shops. Rooms were large and comfortable and the breakfast had a wide variety of choice. Would stay here again if in the area. Only downside was the hotel car park which although conveniently situated was difficult to get into.

The hotel is directly opposite the Fontainebleau Palace - side entrance which is convenient. Carousel for kids in front of hotel. The staff were excellent and very helpful in suggesting activities for children. No view from room but didn't mind- some furniture a bit tired and one of our rooms had water stains by the ventilation. As one of the premier hotels you expect a bit better. My bathroom was very modern -'slept very well. Breakfast at 20 Euros rather highly priced. What's on offer is amazing but after trying it one day chose coffee and croissant across the road. There is a large communal room too. Would recommend hotel if you can get a deal. My family were staying here which is why I chose it otherwise I probably wld have gone cheaper.

I showed up first at 11:00 and i was told my room is not ready. Then after finishing my meetings i went back to complete my checkin and i was told there is water problem in my assigned room and that i can not stay in that hotel because they have given away all other rooms! i was then told that they booked another 4 star hotel on the same street. The room in that hotel was nice. However there was no air-condition on one of the hottest nights of France and i was given a fan for the 213 euros i paid:( I asked the AiGLE NOIR team to come back to me with reimbursement of the hotel price difference so now waiting for that email.

Service was excellent, hotel room terrific, good location; unfortunately their neighbors are under construction. Workers started before 7:00am; lots of noise abd yelling.

Hotel was very apologetic and understanding about our complaint. I woukd highly recommend hotel after construction is complete; however caution until complete.

Nice! Right across street Is Chateau Fontainebleau

Very quiet hotel. The walls are papered in fabric so it acts as a sound barrier. Beautiful granite bathroom with a jetted tub! Bed could have been more comfortable and even though it was hot you could not turn on the A/C in your room. We just left the windows open.
They validated parking in the underground garage across the street.
The hotel was a bit hard to find as the signage in town is not particularly good. Had to go around the block three times to find the entrance to the parking garage. Other than that, the hotel was nice with a very friendly, helpful staff.

Not a described-car park facility is PUBLIC underground,no dining facilities in the evening though they exist because we had delightful breakfast.Demolition going on next door,unbelievable noise from 9am onwards.Did this effect no dining facilities.??The kettle in the room did not work !!As an English person with little or no French,the staff use of English was equally poor.In essence ,hotel not as described which is a shame as I would like to use it again-but what will I find.

Our room was spacious, comfortable, quiet and clean. However for a four star hotel there were one or two aspects I felt required improvement. A curtain over the bed (decorative more than necessary) was fixed to the wall with a safety pin, causing the paper to come away from the wall. There were coffee stains on the carpet, the curtain at the window was not fixed property, the shower head needed cleaning and the soap dish was coming away from the tiles. Loose door handles and other things which I feel are not conducive to a hotel charging the prices well above other hotels in the area. However on a positive note, the breakfast buffet was fantastic, the choice was amazing. The staff were all friendly and efficient. What a pity our stay was let down by details that could easily put right if the bedrooms were checked and maintained regularly.

Great location

This is a great place if you want to stay in Fontainebleau to explore the palace, or as we did, use it as the last stop before flying home out of ORLY airport. It's an easy 45 minute drive, the rooms are beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing. No need to stay at a crappy hotel near Paris when this one is affordable and nearby.

Visiting the famous Chateau at Fontainbleu

I stayed at The Aigle Noir Hotel because of it's closeness to the Chateau at Fontainbleu and wanted somewhere that would be in keeping with the atmosphere of the history of that period. The hotel was very elegant and had lovely period features in a cosy seating area where you could relax in the evening any serve yourself a coffee etc.
The bedroom was beautiful with beams and French windows looking out to the small front courtyard. Staff were very helpful and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone - especially a lone traveller like myself.
