Nice location. Pleasant staff. Average hotel.

Pros:
The staff at the pool and the dining area were good.

Cons:
1. As per the staff, tap water is not safe to drink.
2. Need to pay for every small things. Need to weigh your bags in cloak room---pay; need water---pay; want to use the safe---pay; need water when dining---pay!
3. Substandard rooms. Rooms felt like we were back to early 2000s
4. No basic toiletries (except for hand wash and shampoo) was provided. Body wash provided was actually hand wash soap.
5. As a first time traveller, any and all information about the stay, visit to the beach, travelling to other location etc. was severely lacking, i.e., it was not given automatically. Such information was provided only when asked. For example, we wanted to travel to the airport, so were told to take a bus, but no one told us from where to catch the bus. We were told (when the bus did not arrive from where we were expecting it to come) at the very last minute before departure where the bus would arrive (the location was behind the hotel premises).

Lovely hotel set up on the hill, about 5 minute walk from the beach (hilly). The property itself is a bit dated and would benefit from a little modernisation. The staff and facilities of the hotel are great, the buffet was plentiful for both breakfast and dinner, delicious dishes and lots to choose from. Would certainly stay here again.

Did not believe that this property could be this nice for the value. It is amazing. The staff is incredible. The rooms are spacious. We had a balcony. The pool is very nice. Everything is conveniently located. The breakfast is phenomenal! Highly recommend this place.

Hôtel très agréable mais juste pour un 4 étoiles.

Hôtel avec un personnel exceptionnel. Les chambres sont agréables mais la salle de bain un peu vétuste. La nourriture est top. Par contre quand vous êtes en demi-pension, les serviettes de plage sont fournies une première fois gratuitement puis à chaque changement, c est 1euros.

This was my first ever all-inclusive experience so I had mixed views of what this would be like but I had the most enjoyable time we can’t wait to go back!

I had read the previous reviews before booking this accommodation and my expectations were high in all areas of this holiday - I have to say I was not disappointed and more than impressed and pleased with my selection.

Every staff member was so friendly and helpful, and could not be more charming to us whenever we engaged with them. Right across the reception team, the bar staff, restaurant staff, entertainment staff & service/cleaning staff we felt so welcomed and they couldn’t do enough for us - Special mentions to Ivan, Carmen, Ramiro, Elvis & Bernadette to name a few 👏

The location is slightly isolated from Son Bou beach but everything you could want is on site, we only left to explore Mahón Port once, which is also recommended for the architecture.

Everywhere in the hotel complex was kept so clean, my family and I used the restaurant, bar, indoor & outdoor pools, well equipped gym, premium AIP bar and entertainment. They had varied acts on every night, something for everyone and overall the all-inclusive bracelets made us feel like Kings with unlimited drinks and food options.

The restaurant food was so much better than I expected, with a wide range of salads, main courses, fruit and desserts plus dedicated chefs cooking grilled food to order.

I would highly recommend this hotel and have no complaints at all.

I knew the reviews were good before we left but they surpassed all expectations, the food was superb, the staff ultra polite and helpful, the pool and entertainment were excellent, the access to the beach and shops was easy with the free and frequent shuttle service. I would absoloutely recommend this hotel to anyone (especially families).

Well keep property. Good pool. Lots of beds and no sunbed hoggers. Proper cocktails and good drinks, all served in proper glasses as opposed to plastic. The AI option allows you to order from the menu as opposed to buffet (at the pool bar/dining terrace. Table service at pool and at the evening entertainment. Evening buffet was great! Also.got lste checkout for 30 euro and they said that we have the room for as long as required on check out day. Excellent hotel, service and facilities.

We have had the most amazing 4 night stay at Valentin Son Bou. The staff were amazing and work so hard to ensure everyone is looked after. We opted for the all inclusive option and this did not disappoint. The choice and quality of the food was outstanding.

The hotel is situated on a steep hill, but they offer a free bus service to the beach/town every day. We did not feel we needed to go anywhere as the evening entertainment was outstanding.

We will be returning next year!

Delightful and friendly staff in reception, pool and lounge restaurant. Special having the Indian tikka on our forehead for Indian night. Food in main restaurant high class like 5 star and food assistants so welcoming. Never seen this before! I suggest you also have a dancer for Spanish and Italian nights! Live music incredible, especially Il Divo male singers. Only negatives are poor sound proofing in rooms and fire alarm problem at 6am! Needed more communication from hotel team after alarm evacuation. Some of us were wearing our nightwear and some people didn’t leave their rooms. I suggest you need more night staff please. Also suggest you continue the music in pool area after 1pm and not stop suddenly when animation ends. Music brings a lovely ambience to the area. Big compliments on your shuttle bus service from hotel to beach. Thanks overall - a brilliant hotel experience.

It was spotless. the view from the balcony was amazing. we loved the sunset.
We had to ask for the kettle which arrived within 10 minutes.
buffet breakfast was very good with lots of choices. we ate at the hotel a couple of evenings and the food was excellent, especially Mexican night.
The courtesy bus to the beach was very helpful particularity in the evenings. We did walk a couple of times.
Staff very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful place! One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. Beautiful grounds, room was nice and clean, breakfast buffet was excellent. Had the dinner buffet one evening and that was also great and very reasonable. Nice staff. There was entertainment for children as well as for adults. We very much appreciated the free shuttle to Son Bou beach. I would highly recommend Valentin Son Bou!

Fabulous hotel. Stayed in an apartment half board for 12 days.
The buffet is amazing with a lot of healthy options to eat. 10 stars.
The hotel staff very friendly and helpful.
Only a couple of little things that we don't like:
1.- Sometimes the bathroom had smell from the sewers.
2.- The entertainment shows at nights should start at 10pm instead of 9:30 pm once the dinner is over, because the most of the times we missed the beginning of the performances because we were still finishing our dinner.

One happy family

This hotel was amazing! We booked last minute so wasn’t sure what to expect! The staff are amazing, every single one you meet! Receptionists are so lovely when greeting you. They help you with what they can and direct you with anything else.
The facilities in this hotel are so decent! The pools are clean, the hotel is clean, the area is clean.
The food - we did all inclusive, i mean food is food. It wasn’t bad, however it does get repetitive. However you can’t expect anything else with resorts. The food generally was lovely! Every night had a different cuisine, the live cooking was yummy! The desserts were yummy!
Every day at the pool there are classes for all the guests to join in. It’s a pity as we couldn’t join as I have a baby with me. But it looked like so much fun - dance classes, aqua classes and baby disco all in the water!
This hotel is great for families, couples. The beach isn’t walking distance but there’s a free shuttle every half an hour which takes you there and back. It takes 5mins to drive.
The rooms were okay, spacious! The bathroom however needs some work to it. There’s light but it’s not bright enough for it to reach the bathroom, so it felt like you’re showering in the dark. This was the only downfall.

Overall, lovely stay, pleasant staff and one happy family ☺️

Lovely holiday

Lovely hotel on the hill, thank god there was a beach bus and we didn't need to climb up. The food was amazing, plenty of choices and all you can eat. The rooms are clean, shower a bit outdated but still ok. Nice swimming pool area with a bar. Stuff is very friendly and helpful, maybe not everyone understands english, but we are in Spain after all. We spent a great time here, it was very relaxing. Thanks for everything.

“Don’t be Happy” at Hotel Valentin

Overall we had an excellent stay. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We had a nice room on the third floor with views out to sea, with an ample sized terrace, and place to hang our towels. Lovely Swimming pool and very clean too. Our room was comfortable, quiet air conditioning, beds very comfortable. Decor is very old fashioned, as seen in their pictures, and areas could do with a lick of paint, but we knew that before we booked, but something to bear in mind. Good quality entertainment everyday, particularly enjoyed “circ de pase doble”! Absolutely brilliant quality food and choice was more than enough to accommodate all needs, although don’t recommend their house wine. Shuttle bus every half hour up/down to Son Bou which we used a lot, very useful given their hill location. Highly recommend this happy environment!

Was an ok hotel but should be 3 star not 4. Have stayed at 5 4 star hotels this year and this was not on the same level. Food was nice and location good. Room was more of an issue as weather poor when there, would have been fine if were out more. Staff nice and no issues though and cheap so good enough value.

Worth a go!

Updated but shows signs of its longevity! Fittings lack the lustre of 'newness' in the room. Plenty of hot water and very clean.

The food is laden with salt (main courses) but there is plenty of choice and all seems fresh. Our waitress was overly keen to take our drinks order (we had barely sat down) but guess that better than waiting? The wine selection is vastly over priced which we found sad, given the quality on offer was standard.

The reception staff were extremely welcoming and helpful.

The indoor pool s warm tho lacks the clarity of a fresh pool?

The gym lacks the depth of one seeking a serious workout regime but is probably ample for the occasional user.

A fair way from town with a steep hill on the way back to tackle but a regular bus down to the beach front throughout the day.

Overall, a fair price and worthy of being shortlisted.

Stayed at hotel several times - requested a quiet room on top floor , preferably at the end- our room was on the first floor in the centre of the hotel over the entertainment !!
Rooms very noisy and need sound proofing .
Food excellent .
Need to be more conscious of the non smokers . Entertainment is outside in the Summer and thick with smoke . Also no area for smokers , just anywhere outside and round the pool, including children’s pool .

Great staff and facility; enjoyed indoor warm pool; outdoor pool too cold for nearly everyone. Buffet was good: fish and dhicken dishes good; beef was not good. Large selection so possible to always find something acceptable. Impossible to have plain water with evening meal. Convenient bus to one of the best beach in Menorca ; be aware bus to beach takes 2hr siesta.

Just got back from 6 nights here and it was so good we are looking to go again in September. We stayed all inclusive and found the food lovely and the drinks we were entitled too was a good selection. We were worried as a couple with no children that there would be loads of children here and although it was busy due the size of the hotel it was fine. Lots of activities to do and the position of the hotel meant that the pool had the sun until early evening. Entertainment in the evening was generally good too. The rooms are a little dated but they are clean and there is plenty of storage. The staff were really helpful and friendly too. We had a brilliant time.

Don't expect a 4-star quality

I've been at Valentin hotel for 6 nights, the structure and the service are not what you might expect from a 4-star hotel. Food served from breakfast till dinner is really poor quality, plates, cutlery, and glasses are mostly dirty as probably their kitchen appliances are dated as of the furniture within the rooms. The staff at their dining area doesn't give you a smile, with special mention to the meat/eggs area.

Furthermore, as a client who booked the hotel from internet, you will find out that all the drinks (even just plain water) are not included unless you bought the all-inclusive package or you are not from Alpitour, seriously?

No conditioner provided in the room which is something everyone expects from a summer beach typical place.

Gym service comes straight from the 80s, the gym room is more or less 4sqm with old machinery.

Clients are mostly elders or families with kids.

The hotel is very good, good facility and great location. The restaurant has excellent food. Very good breakfast!
What went wrong was that I had a bag with multivitamin envelopes that were in the room and from one day to the next; 20 envelopes disappeared. This was very obvious I am on a treatment ...!!
And, my windbreaker waterproof lite jacket was gone. For the benefit of doubt, I inquired with the front desk to see if they found it in the lost and found department but they did not have it. My major complaint is that, which is a major aspect because these are not the type of things that you can place inside a safety box.
A vacation gets ruined when something like this happens. I still have 20 days after Menorca, traveling in the Azores without my and my much loved jacket that had become a collection piece..,

I definitely recommend Son Bou Valentin hotel

Son bou is great if you want a quiet relaxing break by the sea. It has a wide sandy beach (part of this has lifeguards). I would recommend hiring a car as you will be able to access other parts of the island. The Valentin hotel has apartments as well as hotel rooms. There is a wide choice of meals from the evening buffet (we chose half board as there are not that many restaurants to choose from ). The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel has a regular bus service to the beach if you don't want to hire a car.

Very good value for money. Plenty of choices at breakfast and dinner and food is of good quality. The vegetarians of our party didn't go hungry but more vegetarian options would have been appreciated. Good wifi throughout. Free car parking was convenient. Lots of planned activities - we particularly enjoyed the morning yoga and early evening pilates. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Lovely holiday in a lovely hotel.

We spent one week here with our family, booking three rooms in the hotel. All rooms were very clean and the beds were large and comfortable and there was even a choice of pillows! The balcony was larger than normal and meant that we could all get together before going to dinner in the evening. The food was excellent and the choice extensive. We always managed to find six sunbeds when needed. The pool was good for children and adults alike. The entertainment was also of a high standard. An added bonus was the excellent sandy beach down the hill. The hotel bus service was excellent, and reliable. We enjoyed the walk down in the evenings for a change of scenery and the taxi back for seven euros was money well spent.

Fair value, good family break!

The apartments are clean, although a little dated, but everything including the air-can etc worked fine. Staff and entertainment team were very helpful and breakfast plentiful. We didn't use the restaurant but the pool-side cafe was good. We spent our mornings by the pool - plenty of sunbeds with umbrellas - and went off exploring the island most afternoons. Evening entertainment appeared to be good although we only attended once. Only minor drawback for us was guests smoking around us (not inside the hotel) but that appears to be the norm in Spain; it made outside dining less enjoyable. We found none of the issues mentioned in the negative reviews and enjoyed our time there.

Great pool

On holiday with hubby and 18 month old son and Valentin Son Bou was perfect for us. The pool area especially is great for all ages (my son loved being able to walk in as deep as he could go) and heaps of space around the sun loungers. We were B&B and food quality great. We stayed in an apartment which was spacious and had everything we needed (not that we cooked but fully equipped kitchen).

The \"hill\" is more of a mountain. We are both pretty fit but it really was a slog and especially with a buggy. Minibus is useful but does finish at 7pm so no option to get it to/from dinner/drinks in Son Bou (of course the hotel want you there in the evening).

We didnt stay for any evening entertainment but from what we could gather, it all seemed very good.

Beautiful location and good service

We spent four nights here in June, and really enjoyed it. The temperature was about 25 degrees, with a lovely breeze. The pool area is clean and well serviced, and there is a handy little supermarket next door. The hotel is a little way from the centre of town and the beach, so there is a courtesy bus every half an hour throughout the day (except lunchtime and evenings). However, we quite enjoyed walking instead, as you get more time to appreciate the beautiful views. It takes about 15 minutes to get into town on foot, but the walk back to the hotel takes about 20-25 minutes as it is mostly uphill. We found this a lovely antidote to all the lazing by the pool we had done, but the less mobile or those with young children may not appreciate it so much. We had the bed and breakfast option, and the breakfast was a generous buffet with options for all tastes and appetites. Very efficiently run, and good food. We took our other meals in the various restaurants in town. Alessandro's is a lovely Italian, and Andres is excellent for local cuisine (although you might need to book - we were lucky to get a table). Our favourite was the beach bar called Ses Grulles, where we had a delicious paella one evening as the sun set over the mountains of Majorca in the far distance. The Hawaiian bar is fun for evening drinks, but don't forget, the courtesy bus service stops at about 7pm so you'll have to climb that hill back to the hotel afterwards!

Great family vacation!

This is a great place to stay with a family. We enjoyed our vacation very much. The whole staff is very attentive and helpful - reception desk (thank you Moises, Lucas, Francesca and Javier), the restaurant manager Michael, the cooks and the waitresses, the cleaning lady Carmen (she did an great job every day), the animation team (Fabio, Mira, Ania and the others), the bus driver of the shuttle bus to the beach. Thank you all for doing such a great job! We would love to return again with our friends.

Big Hotel, with outdated room facilities

I had a nice stay. The room was spacious. Unfortunately it was not that functional. There was a separate switch for the TV. But it's not clear (you need to try a lot of different combinations). The room needs a manual. No sockets next to the bed (that was the case with my room). Hotel didn't provide European adapters (it's common hotels provide adapter as an extra).

The staff was really friendly. Nice pool, breakfast was good, nice evening shows.

Convenient location with plenty of onsite free parking spaces & regular shuttle bus services going to/from the beach. On site supermarket (tiny shop) for refreshments available. Friendly & helpful staff. Breakfast was ok, slightly different variations everyday.

The apartment we stayed in feels dated and needs upgrading to be qualified for 4 stars. The wifi signal was extremely weak, only 1 spot in the entire apartment could receive a very weak unstable signal.

Indoor / outdoor activities available daily. The main pool was nice, however, the beach chairs surrounding the pool were close to each other, feels crowded even when they were unoccupied.

The hotel has a free bus service which takes you to the beach. Their a number of cafe,s my favourite was the Cococabana. Serving beautiful fruit juices, English breakfasts, pancakes with choice of toppings such as ice cream, fruits or lemon and sugar. 😋
Hotel is sweet as candy the staff are wonderful. Pool side baby 🚼

Really enjoyed our stay

Half board 4 nights. 1 bed apartment with balcony. Good size all round. Small kitchen but didn't use it apart from the fridge as we were half board. The breakfast and dinner were really good. Lots of choices and very easy to over do it! Busy but not chaotic at meal times and the staff are really very good indeed. Not really into the entertainment but what we saw looked really good and is on after dinner at 9.30pm. Spanish horse display outside and the acrobats were way above what we expected. Don't often find hotels near beaches as nice as son bou that you would happily return to. Recommended.

The grounds are very nice, the pool area is also very nice as is the poll but it is a shock when you jump in! I thought it might be warmer given the months (August!)

The breakfasts were really very good with a massive choice of cooked, continental, fruit and yogurts, the list goes on...

We didn't realise from the maps just how far uphill this is which means after the last free bus down to the beach (7pm) and back (7.05pm) you either have a GRUELLING walk or need a taxi from the front.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location

This hotel is really lovely. Balcony very spacious (had a corner balcony) with beautiful sea views. Room very clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast very good selection - even champagne breakfast included some mornings! Tables well dressed and restaurant spotlessly clean. Swimming pool clean and plenty of sunbeds.

Terrible apartment - poor air conditioning

If you are looking for a 1 bed apartment then don't stay in this hotel! The apartments are tiny - the lounge / kitchen area is so small. My daughter slept on a sofa bed which left little room once pulled out. The kitchen area was tiny and poorly equipped - we were all inclusive so we didn't use it anyway. Would not be suitable for self-catering. There was also a bad smell - like cat urine. There was an heatwave whilst we were there - up to 34 degrees some days. The air con broke on day two! The hotel staff were helpful but it took 2 days to fix - very uncomfortable. Even when working it would only work in either the apartments or the main hotel. So whilst we got a good nights sleep it was very uncomfortable in the restaurant and bar. The hotel facilities are quite good - nice pool area, busy but we always got a sun lounger. My daughter enjoys the children's entertainment although they need to do more to ensure kids are signed in and out properly. Adult entertainment was poor. However, it was so bad that it was funny. The food in the 1 restaurant was good - plenty of choice and fairly good quality. It did get very busy though with typical all inclusive guests piling their plates high making sure they don't miss out on anything. Overall we had an amazing time in Menorca - it is a beautiful island. Son Bou is ok as a base - we hired a car for the week and visited many little towns and beaches. I would go back to Menorca but would stay in a different resort.

Lovely hotel with great pool and friendly staff.

About 15 mins from the airport.
Friendly check-in staff and a free bottle of cold water was a help.
Given free room upgrade to pool view for both our rooms.
Went all inclusive and that worked out well.
Soft drinks were great as was the beer, but the cocktails were very much on the weak side !!.
Lots of choice of food for every meal and it was varied every day. All inclusive guests also had an outside buffet of chips, burgers, pizza, chicken nuggets, salad, fresh fruit etc at brunch time. Perfect for the kids.
Three pools - small indoor, small paddling pool for the little ones and quit a large pool for all. Lifeguard around between 10 and 6.
Free beach towels which you can change each day ( you need to give a 7.5 Euro deposit for each at reception ).
Plenty of sun loungers and fixed parasols which you aren't allowed to reserve, but best to get there before 10.00.
Lots of free activities for kids and adults and staff very friendly.
Different entertainment every evening - some better than others, but a good atmosphere.
We had a fantastic holiday here and would certainly recommend it.

Decent hotel poor food

Hotel located high above the resort on the edge of the urbanisation with no other facilities nearby. Quite large building with many dozens of apartment in the grounds.
Decent rooms and pool with good selection of sunloungers available.
Stayed half board, but after 1st day wished it was room only. For the price paid this was not value for money. The quality of the food was very low, it reminded me of school dinners. After enduring 2 meals at the hotel we ate elsewhere for the remainder of our stay.
Gym locked.
Sauna locked.
Felt like a 3 star tourist hotel with 2 star food.

First all-inclusive experience

We visited at the end of the season and the resort was lovely and quiet. The food was good and varied but the all inclusive buffet style became personally frustrating by the end of the stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We had an apartment which was spacious and thoroughly cleaned everyday. However, there was little ventilation and the sofa smelt mouldy and the bedsheets felt damp.
There was entertainment for the little children and some activities but we didn't join in as they were either 'too baby' or my children were too young to join in
It was a good relaxing holiday

The Internet is slow as it conects over 400 guests with a single internet source . Elderly tourists are predominant at the hotel and majorly British . Most of the reception and all of the services area are majorly outdated , with an adult room , a reading room , and an Internet room that have seen better days. There is a smell of an old ladies perfume when entering the hotel that made us joke about this hotel being a geriatric residence. Otherwise the rooms were basic but fine, the food at the buffet is excellent (where the hotel earns 4 stars in my opinion) and close enough to the son bou beach which is amazing

Great hotel with lovely people and animation team

Perfect holiday , lovely clean hotel with helpful, friendly staff. There is a towel ban on reserving sun beds ! Great facilities, spotless. My two children loved the kids club team and they made lots of friends. The entertainment was good no karoake which is great! Enough going on without it being in your face so time to chill out. Food was nice, fresh with different themes, Mexican night was with tequila ! We will be going back.

Nice Hotel, but very busy

Menorca is a beautiful place and its hard to be unhappy while on the island. This hotel was great for driving around the island, having nice large breakfast and for free parking. However the dinner buffet was not worth the half board and we only dine two nights at the dinner buffet. The hotels was very crowded and packed with families but the service was still great. The pool was fun and comfortable but we wish there was less competition for sun beds. The wifi is abysmal and does not work in the rooms. Air conditioning did work well! Great time all around but may not be worth the price of half board

Really good hotel

Very nice hotel with great pool area and plenty of sunbeds. Thank goodness for the shuttle they run down into Son Bou. I would not want to walk back up. Local beach was very nice. Food was good except all bread rolls were rock hard at all meal times. Rooms were a really good size with a large balcony, we had three people in the room and there was also plenty of hanging space and draws. We all enjoyed the holiday but Son Bou itself doesn't have much to offer.

We got 2 single bed put together instead of a double and they were very uncomfortable, moving away from each other
when we complained were told that when you book a double bed it considered to be a \"preference\" and that it can't always be fulfilled. You should people know this in advance.

Nice Hotel/Apartments in beautiful location ACE

We stayed in Apartment A3 at Valentin Son Bou Hotel & Apartments, May 14th - 21st 2016. Apartments are spacious and have everything you need. We were all inclusive but took advantage of using the kettle for Tea & Coffee during our stay plus stored cold drinks/ snacks in the fridge provided. The bathroom also has a hairdryer (one less thing to pack!) The Hotel is lovely and staff friendly. Kids Club staff are very enthusiastic but not pushy. My Husband, myself and two boys (aged 6 and 9) stayed - they don't use the club...however they loved watching the entertainment in the evening. The pool outside is lovely but VERY cold! my boys liked it but I only ventured in once or twice. The hotel food is brilliant with lots of choice. Every night you couldask for fresh pizza (with your own fillings) to be made which is a hit with children, along with several show food nights like fajitas or roast suckling pig or Chinese style, also regular salad bar and hot choices and puddings which taste scrummy (not good for us Slimming Word girls. The hotel is up a steep slope/hill but we still walked down to Son Bou most days and caught the free hotel mini coach to return up the hill (the service runs till 7pm). The local beaches are pretty and clean. Staff at the hotel work hard and rooms cleaned every day.....we would recommend this to everyone and would definitely return as do most of the other people who visited.

There's a reason why they provide a courtesy bus

There can be advantages, staying in a hotel on the outskirts of the town, as you don't get disturbed by noise etc - but when it's at the top of a very steep hill, you either need to clock-watch to make sure you're in time for the free half hourly shuttle bus service (until 7pm), or you need to be prepared for an uphill hike to get back to your room. That said, it was a pleasant walk in the sunshine, and we only used the bus one day out the five that we were there.
There was live entertainment laid on every night in the large bar - this might appeal to lots of you, but we avoided this like the plague and headed to the adults only lounge bar for a bit of peace and quiet - didn't stay there too long as the doors to the garden were open to allow the smokers to share their fumes with those of us sitting inside. Preferred to go back to our room and watch BBC1 (no telly when there was a storm one night, but OK the rest of the time) and catch up on reading some good books. Sorry if this sounds like we are boring and antisocial, but we didn't want to go to loud, smoky bars.
Food for brekkie and evening were good, but we had some great lunches out in the local or other bays' restaurants, so we ended up just having salad or soup towards the end of our stay.
Arrival & departure were great; checked in before 2pm so unpacked and went out for lunch (welcome after an early morning flight) and were given a courtesy room to use for half an hour before we left for a late flight home.

Good quality hotel with excellent staff and food

We had a really nice week just chilling out. All the staff were attentive and pleasant. The quality and variance of the food at all meals was really good. We stayed in an apartment which gave us extra space but I am sure the hotel rooms were fine. Although the hotel is away from the beach and main part of Son Bou, we knew this before we booked, so wasn't an issue. There was the shuttle bus every half hour during the day when we wanted to go to/from the beach.

Second visit to this hotel. Bad points (1) Air Conditioning in apartments does not exist. Our temperature was a constance 24 - 26 degrees. (2) need non-smoking area on terrace during the evening. (3) And Wi-fi needs sorting, although it was saying full signal no one could get connected. (4) Hotel courtesy bus only available 9.00am - 7.00pm. (5) a lot of kids, so great for families but couples will find it noisy. (6) Hotel very dated, needs updating. Good points: (1) extremely friendly, helpful staff in all areas. (2) Very clean (3) Food good although repetitive and seemed to be less choice this year and queues can be long.

Great hotel and apartment complex, family friendly

The Valentin Hotel and Apartment complex was great. We were there towards the end of the summer but the staff, especially the animation team and the restaurant team, were very attentive and often went beyond their job. Food was very good with different show cooking each evening such as Mexican, Spanish, Roasts, American etc. The evening entertainment was varied - 2 singing groups were amazing (Soul group and Temptations Tribute) and others were ok. There is something different every evening and it was great to go all inclusive and not worry about drinks bills etc. The pools are also great, and there is a good varied sports programme.
The apartment rooms were ok - a little bit basic but clean and with TV, air con, kitchenette etc..
The whole family loved our 10 days at the complex, with great memories and a wish to return one day..

Perfect family holiday hotel

Have just spent a week at Valentin Son Bou Hotel with my family including my twin 5year old grandchildren. Couldn't have asked for a better hotel especially as it was booked only seven weeks ago. The place is spotless and the food is excellent with plenty of choice every day. My only complaint would be that breakfast ending at 10.00 means that is when the food starts to be removed and the same in the evening at 9.45 so it is no good thinking that you can arrive near to the finishing time for meals because everything is cleared away very quickly.
Other than that absolutely no complaints, very good entertainment and the courtesy bus to the beach is very useful. Highly recommended!

Uncomfortable rooms, out dated is an understatement, beds are awful. The pool area is ok but lifeguard really needs to stop being so rude when handing towels out I.e pass them to you not shove them at you. Food was poor quality, rammed in like factory chickens with rude/non attentive staff, ate breakfast and evening meal only once as its that bad, ate out rest of the holiday.

A great family reunion experience!

This hotel provided a wonderful family reunion location. Our grandchildren loved the outdoor pool which was kept immaculately clean by the staff. The \"no reserving of sun beds \" policy meant there was always space by the pool for us. The staff was, to a person, pleasant and helpful. The half board that we selected provided ample choice and good food quality for all of the three generations of family there. The additional price for all drinks at dinner (including beer and wine) of 3.5 euros per person per night was very reasonable.

The nearby beach was very nice and only a five minute shuttle bus ride away. The bus runs regularly from the hotel every half hour and was very convenient.

The rooms and apartments were clean and cared for, although by American \"updating\" standards, a little dated. Not a problem for us since everything was clean and worked well. The nightly shows were fun, varied, and also we'll run.

The only slight negative for one of us was that the multiple selections for food entrees at the buffet tended to be bland and it would have been good to have more options for spicy foods.

A solid, retro 4 star hotel

We stayed in a one bed apartment on half board for a week in July 2015. The hotel itself is a perfectly preserved 1980s resort hotel, complete with nightly entertainment of the Variety nature. It's all pretty clean, if dated. There is a good kids club and various activities for adults, such as water polo. Buffet breakfast and dinner were a bit of a scrum but there was plenty of choice. The only downside was a strange obsession with charging for drinks on top, no bottles of water allowed in, no tap water. There is a half hourly bus to the town and lovely beach. I would probably rent a villa closer to the town if I came again but overall it was a pleasant stay.
