Excellent breakfast, lots of drink choices and smoothies. Pool was great, didn’t have any challenges getting a sunbed.

The rooms were super clean, we didn’t see a single bug (which we were expecting). Had a gecko in the room who lived behind our tv who may have managed the bug situation.

Buffet was good but limited selection if you are, or have, a picky eater.

We had a good stay but this is not a 5 star hotel! Peeling paint, smallish dark rooms that haven't been updated since a very long time and all that not exactly cheap. Breakfast was not bad, we had dinner once and that was pricey but good. All up it seemed tired and in need of renovations.

We enjoyed our stay for 3 nights but it certainly isn’t 5* but the restaurant prices are for mediocre food! We were on B&B basis thankfully so after first night ate out at excellent local restaurants at sensible prices. You need reef shoes on the beach and in the lagoon but even just standing you can see a great array of fish so snorkelling is excellent. We even saw a humpback whale just beyond the reef.

Lovely location and staff were all very helpful and friendly, food was also good.

However as other reviews have said the rooms could certainly do with an update, they're not 5 star quality.

Also it was our honeymoon which we'd told them before arriving - they said by email that we could have some 'freebies' on production of our marriage certificate but there was no mention of it when we checked in or at any other point during our stay and so we were never given the opportunity to prove that it was our honeymoon and receive whatever 'freebies' they were offering. In comparison, the hotel where we stayed next in Mauritius offered us on arrival the opportunity to have a complimentary candle-lit dinner and provided us with champagne and other gifts, without requiring us to prove that it was our honeymoon.

The breakfast was amazing, many great options, everything delicious and fresh. It's right on the beach, there's plenty of space on the sun beds, the pool is really good as well.The beach is superb, warm water, and can you go snorkelling right from the beggining of the beach.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. I was not fond of all the feral cats. Feral cats although cute are a big problem for endemic species especially on a small island.

hotel isn't true 5 star, lobby is nice but rooms are very minimal. Not much more than a bed, tv and chair. bathroom is tiny; its impossible not to flood the bathroom because of open shower/tub.

Good location and resort amenities but not 5 star.

The location of the property and general resort amenities are good, but the resort is not a 5 star standard. Probably a 4 star at best. Rooms are small and in-room amenities are limited. Room servicing and maintenance also not up to 5 star standards and needs management attention.

Nice location on the beach with a great concierge service. However it is sorely let down by terrible service in the rest of the resort and small rooms that are in desperate need of refurbishment. Neither the service or rooms approach 5* level and some serious improvement is needed.

The hotel itself is beautiful and situated on the beach which was great. The room is nice enough with a tiny bathroom. The sink consumed the counter. The bathroom amenities are lovely. The food is great. The wifi is horrible in the rooms.

The service is just off but the night manager is outstanding and I wish I remembered his name. When my driver didn't show up at 4 am to take me to the airport, he was completely on top of it.

The hotel hosted a company event while I was there. It consumed the bar area and then took over the beach restaurant. I felt like an outsider despite paying top dollar. That is ridiculous and unacceptable.

That said, the hotel is a great value for the accommodation and I recommend it.

Don't expect a 5-star service

Hotel is a little in need of refurbishment. Room was decent, though the first room we were allocated was right at a far end of the resort which didn't make sense when there were empty rooms closer to the main building. Wifi was not working in our room and when we called to address this issue at 3pm, we were told we had to wait till the next day for someone to attend to it as there was no one working on a sunday. This was not acceptable services for a five-star hotel, and we raised our displeasure and asleep for a room change. Only then were we given a new room much closer to the main building with fully functional wifi.

Apart from the above, this is a pretty normal hotel and I didn't feel we received any exceptional service being in a 5-star hotel. In fact, I felt I got better service in my stays elsewhere on Reunion Island where the hotel rating is below 5-stars.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. As it is winter there were no difficulties finding a lounger by the pool or a seat in a restaurant. The only down side was the small bathroom with shower over the bath arrangement - never did work out how to have a shower without the floor becoming wet & slippery. The food was excellent and the music provided by local musicians created a lovely atmosphere. The concierge desk were very helpful in arranging tours and airport transfers.
There is a supermarket nearby and access to an ATM was a short tuk tuk ride away

This hotel is in a great location by the beach, and offers amenities including renting bikes for rides along the sea. But the staff was pretty lame, and the room was in disrepair - in our room the showerhead was falling apart, shelves were barely connected to the walls, and a big dangerous hole in the patio deck could have caused injury. Consdering hi price, not acceptable!

Great stay at Lux*

Really enjoyed my stay at Lux*. Multiple eating options, beautiful grounds and great service. The only issue I had was reserving a room for dinner on Saturday night. It wasn't clear if I they were truly booked or simply denying me a reservation because I was a party of one. Nevertheless, I had to order in room service that night, but the did not charge me the 9Euro tray charge.

Also, you will save money arranging your airport transfer through the hotel and not using standard taxis. I paid 100 Euros for the taxi. It was only 80 through the hotel. And I was told that some people were charged as much as 300 euros for taxi service.

Okay, did not exceed expectations for price

La Réunion itself is very much French, so don't be surprised by smoking everywhere- including the restaurants. The architecture if Lux Réunion is beautiful and the welcoming drink is refreshing. The personal list of questions was a bit invasive, but I suppose if you don't want to give your Anniversary date or email address, you can get away with it. A natural reef protects the beach making for a nice ocean swim. Lovely big tiled pool surrounded by \"rock\" formations. Service from the pool bar and beach bar was great - there if you wanted them, otherwise invisible. There is a special \"hut\" that hands out towels and rec equipment, though my husband found the snorkel and fins a bit inadequate (we are divers, so poor fitting equipment is as bad as no equipment). They had a lovely welcoming reception with samosas , champagne, sorbet cones and punch ( w or w/out rum ) - very nice touch. We met the lovely Marie-Lucie (phenomenal employee ). If you like a hard bed , this hotel is for you - \"sleep right \" bamboo structured beds, but I turned over a lot in the night and did not sleep well. Overall, it was an okay, expensive hotel (up about 12 stairs to half the rooms) but bathrooms need refurbishing (showers spill out to the floor, toilet roll on same side as where door turns in, NO bathroom fan) and (actually very nice, upscale essential oil) toiletries are NOT replaced daily, however ground coffee and comp. bottle of water are. Nice spontaneous, whimsical touches of a hidden message in a bottle (we didn't find), yoga (teacher was GREAT), gym (good ), \"phone home\" for free concept was great- if only the phone lines worked when we tried (broken ). Generally though, it was relaxing and fine EXCEPT the unbelievable housekeeping attendants who literally and ROUTINELY knocked very quickly, then barged in (four separate times) DESPITE the sign on the outside door handle indicating \"Do Not Disturb!\" That completely blew us away for a so called five star, charging ~ $400 a night and frankly, it blew their tip. This is a former Club Med that has been greatly spruced up. Their marketing brochures and videos are great. We would have used LUX again in Mauritius, but I am used to a Tempurpedic, not a bamboo mattress, so we chose an alternate (Baystone ).

Grand Hotel du Lagon, Reunion-lovely but isolated

The Grand Hotel du Lagon is lovely but not actually in St. Giles. Rather it is a couple of kilometers south and a bit isolated if you want to try other restaurants and haven't hired a car. The service is variable being excellent at front reception but sometimes a bit poor elsewhere. Abit more staff training needed.
Nevertheless, quite a lovely hotel.

Séjour globalement positif en raison de :
- la situation de l'hôtel en bord de lagon, doublé d'une superbe piscine,
- l'amabilité, la disponibilité et le professionnalisme du personnel,
- la qualité et la variété des repas et menu, avec une mention particulière pour le restaurant \"la plage\" en raison du soin apporté à la confection et la présentation des repas.
La note véritablement négative, avec la déception qui va avec, provient de l'état de l'hébergement qui n'est absolument pas à la hauteur d'un établissement présentant 5 étoiles. Les chambres et leurs équipements sont terriblement vieillissants : meubles très défraîchis, salle de bain complètement \"hors d'âge\" (baignoire abîmée, pommeau de douche plus que vieillissant, moisissures dans les recoins et sur les joints silicones), équipements électriques à la limite de la sécurité (spots branlants dans la salle de bain, interrupteurs défectueux, fils dénudés sur les luminaires de chevet, ...). Il est clair que sur ce plan, malgré les qualités citées au début de ce commentaire, cet établissement ne pourra continuer à faire l'économie d'un programme de réhabilitation des hébergements sans risquer de perdre une clientèle qui attend que TOUTES les prestations soient irréprochables, dès lors que 5 étoiles sont affichées.

Malgré un tres beau cadre exterieur et un service de tres bonne qualité, la chambre Deluxe est TRES decevante. Un mobilier et une décoration sans goût. Etat général de la chambre vetuste... une salle de bains des années 2000. Standing de la chambre équivaut un 2 étoiles max... et loin des standards d'un 5 étoiles.

Très bel établissement, digne d'un 5 étoiles, même si une légère rénovation des chambres pourrait être entreprise. Très beaux espaces partagés, les aménagements extérieurs (transats notamment) sont de qualité et soignés. Buffet du restaurant La Cuisine (petit-déjeuner et dîner) riche et savoureux. Personnel très agréable et disponible. Belle plage au bord du lagon.

Die Anlage ist sehr schön mit vielen Grünflächen und direkt am Strand. Wir wurden zunächst in einem Zimmer untergebracht, welches wirklich sehr abgenutzt und modrig war. Auf Nachfrage bekamen wir am nächsten Morgen ein anderes Zimmer der gleichen Kategorie, welches uns sehr gut gefiel.
Das Frühstücksbuffet ist sehr umfangreich und man sitzt sehr schön an der frischen Luft.
Das gesamte Personal ist wirklich sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Je note un peu sévère car la direction doit réagir sur la qualité globale de la chambre qui est restée dans son jus des années 90/2000...sinon l'architecture du bâtiment est top tout comme l'emplacement sur le lagon et le personnel adorable. On a testé le restaurant \"La Plage\" le rapport qualité prix est très moyen (Carrys bar à 35 €...entrecôte demandée saignante et servi à point + à 36 €...)

L'hôtel est beau et dans son ensemble bien entretenu. Et le personnel est sympathique. Inutile de vous mettre en tête d'aller à la salle de sport, le matériel est vétuste et rouillé. Attention rien n'est affiché pour les excursions proposées par l'hôtel, alors pensez à faire la demande.
Idem, ne vous attendez pas à un hôtel avec ambiance le soir, c'est très très calme.

Le lieu est tres beau: architecture de l hotel, jardin sur le lagon.
Les chambres sont en cours de réfection. La notre n avait pas été rafraîchi. Elle n était pas au niveau d un 5 étoiles

Excellent séjour sur le lagon.

Hôtel idéalement situé dans un grand parc ombragé . Accueil très chaleureux , personnel très souriant, restaurant excellente, activités variés incluses, l’hôtel a tout du séjour idéal pour finir le séjour sur l’île.
Une rénovation de la chambre et de la salle de bain en ferait un hôtel parfait .
