This hotel dates back to the Soviet era but has been refurbished and is right in the heart of downtown Belgrade. There's a really nice grocery store just around the corner — and the hotel is near the first McDonald's in the communist world. The included breakfast is really good and staff is super friendly.

Perfectly good, comfortable old hotel

The Slavija is an admirable monument to the Yugoslavia of old, and with that it is a little tired. It is however, easy to get to, comfortable and clean and has a good breakfast, so very much what we'd hoped for when needing a last minute stay in Belgrade. For a night in the city before heading to the airport, you could do worse.

Hotel Slavija is one of my favorite destinations when I visit Belgrade. The hotel is old but is undergoing significant renovation. The rooms are climate controlled and comfortable. I would recommend staying there for a very reasonably priced place to visit Belgrade.

Obviously, this hotel is just a shadow of the place it used to be decades ago. Lack of maintenance can be seen at every step. The carpet in the room wasn't cleaned since communist leader Josip Broz Tito passed away. The room was smelly due to the dirty carpet. The door had visible signs of break and entry and hotel management installed two hand-cut pieces of metal I guess to protect the door latch. Stains on the wall were showing that the room wasn't painted since the 1980ies. Smelly dirty curtains. Exhaust in bathroom full of dirt. Dirty windows never cleaned/washed. No AC in the room while the outdoor temperature was 30 C. No WiFi in the room or on the floor. The lobby furniture is in very bad shape. I could not expect this kind of stay to be offered through Expedia.ca. I just took a shower in this room and left. Had to find another stay. Also, hotel management took money from my credit card right away/ When I asked them to reschedule my Check In date they refused to reimburse me for day one. Very unprofessional since I asked for check-in correction two months in advance.

Very affordable hotel in the heart of Belgrad with great connections and many amenities around.
There's an airport bus that costs less than 2.5 EUR and takes about half an hour to get from the airport to the hotel. The hotel is kept simple, but clean and offers everything one needs for a short trip.
The employees are very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast is offered at the 7th floor on the opposite side in Slavija Garni. Wide choice of meats and cheeses for a very affordable price.

Property was old, dirty. There were holes on the walls. Bathtub was stained and dirty, shoer curtain broken. Water from the faucets orange! There was no light and phone in the room. When I went to reception, the staff told me that I didn’t know how to turn on the lamp in the room and that there had to be a phone in the room. Then they sent a security guard to go to the room with me and “turn on the lamp”. When he came to the room he found that the lamp was broken and there was NO phone. Staff was very rude and unprofessional. DO NOT GO HERE!

a real choice for the frugal traveller

Budget hotel with great location and very competitive price. The rooms are clean and tidy, with ensuite. Everything was in very good condition. A bundant breakfast for less than 2 GBP. The hotel is at Trg Slavija, which is a big roundabout with plenty of bus, troleybus and tramway connections in all directions.
There are all sort of amenities around the hotel, including a supermarket open 24 hours within a 5 minutes walking distance.

A 70 year old travellers tale.

A good central place to stay, directly one kilometre up the main boulevade from the old derelict train station and central bus station. Very noisy high traffic area until very late at night and no air con, hard to sleep well. Plenty of food shops, atms and money exchange shops. About 117 dinar to one euro.

You want the old school Eastern Europe \"poor traveler\" experience, stay here. Yes, I paid sub $20 per night, but the facilities were so dilapidated, that it was almost dangerous. Toilet falls over, mold, constant leaks, paper thin walls, just horrible shape. Maybe better than staying at a hostel... or maybe not.

The hotel is situated in a very active and central part of Belgrade. It is a 10 minute walk to the St. Sava Cathedral (Vracar). It is a 1/2 hour walk to the Kalmegan fortress. The hotel is somewhat run down. The room wasn't much to speak for but the price can't be beat. The free breakfast was also phenomenal. All in all, I enjoyed my stay there.

Horrible and creepy hotel tbh. Everything is very very old and archaic. My friend even told me that there's lot of prostitution happening there and criminal.
Nice staff tho who are fully aware of where they work and it's not their fault but the Hotel \"management\".
Nic and rich breakfast too. I wish the hotel is on the same standard. Slavija hotel is putting the bad light and experience of the city of Belgrade which is amazing place and they need no hotels like this.

Good value for the money

Hotel is old, was great in seventies. Not much is changed since then. No TV, no A/C, very old shower, but generally everything was clean and old. Nice window view. Very good breakfast, good service, great location despite big construction on Slavija square.One night stay before flight, good sleep. Don't miss visit some Belgrade theater in walking distance. Many nice restaurants around.

The hotel is superb value for money if you are a solo traveler. The buffet breakfast is superb as well, with wide choice of hot meats, eggs, cheeses etc. The budget rooms are in extreme poor condition, the bedding is stained and the shower room is dangerously wired. i was upgraded to the new annexe, and that was much better - and worth the extra money as well. If you are a couple - I am sure there are better value hotels.

Wifi was poor, especially on the higher floors (more expensive rooms) and many of the electrical outlets in the room did not work. Reception did not provide receipts for payment of city tax, so I had a problem when I was checking out early in the morning as my payment had not been properly recorded.

Cold room with old furniture. Not safe because of the door of the room were not good. Weird people in the hotel. They charged me extra fees even though in my reservation taxes and fees were included. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone but only if you really need to sleep overnight somewhere.

Wifi worked great, building is quite old and it shows, the hotel restaurant is very good, I got upgraded for free which was a pleasant surprise and bonus

Overall if you want somewhere relatively inexpensive to stay for a trip to Serbia, id recommend hotel slavija, watch the roundabout though.

Hotel Slavija is an old hotel from the old days of Yugoslavia. It is not modern,it is of an old style in this region. The staff are very good at making everything right. The restaurant serves delicious meals at a very good price. This is not a \"luxury\" hotel by western standards, but anybody who is familiar with travel in the Balkans will find this a suitable choice for a couple nights in beautiful Beograd. Thank you to all the staff for all your help and courtesy.

its an old hotel but a great location and great staff. if you are coming from the airport or going to the airport after your stay this hotel is perfect. the airport bus a1 drops off and picks up literally in front of the hotel. breakfast was descent with a lot of choices. from here u can easily reach all sites and good restaurants via tram or walking. also the beautiful receptionist upgraded me to a bigger more comfortable room which was priceless.

This hotel has a new building and an old one. I stayed in the old one, so the elevators are old as are many things in this hotel. But overall, it's clean and for the price it's ok. I only stayed 2 days and enjoyed breakfast one. The breakfast is a typical Serbian breakfast; it was also ok. The staff is very nice!

The best thing about this hotel is its location - it is at the corner of one of the major squares in the city with easy access everywhere. The bed linen is clean, but the carpet was awful with everything else worn out, Not a place to bring a family to, but if you're solo and just need a place to spend the night, it's ok. Buffet breakfast is good, but nothing special.

This hotel is old yet from exterior looks much better.Having one of the best location this hotel needs refurbishing There is not Wi-fi phone or air con on the top floors.Idont know about the other floors.There are buses running to and from airport every 20 minutes or so and they stop right in front of the hotel and cost less then 3 dollars .The other Slavija Garni hotel which is right opposite is more expensive.If you are on the budget this is the hotel given the location

Good on a budget.

The Hotel Slavija is an old hotel with rooms that are in need of remodel. But it is not horrible, and meets the expectatioons of a hotel with such a low rate. If you do not need an ultra-modern room, then this hotel works. It is perfect as a resting point if you are not in your room much. The neighborhood is great. I was able to walk to all the sights. The convenience of the A1 Airport Shuttle right outside is a big bonus.

I spent two nights in Belgrade - one on a bed in this hotel, the other - on a bench at the airport. I'm not sure which night was worse.
The hotel bed was small and uncomfortable, but most importantly it was shaky and kept banging the wall with loud thuds every time I moved a muscle. The room was too hot because the soviet-era central radiator can't be turned off, so I had to open the window. But half through the night the heat was turned off, so it became cold (this was in December). The other problem was the water. The pipes are apparently so old that the tap water was milky white, albeit slightly. Good enough to brush your teeth, but I didn't dare to take a shower. Actually, everything looks very old and in poor condition. No TV, phone, Wi-Fi, or anything remotely modern in the room - just two small beds, closet, table, and chair.
On a positive note, the lobby and the restaurant seem newly refurbished. The complimentary breakfast is beyond comparison with large variety of all-you-can-eat delicious food. Haven't seen anything like this in US except in Vegas. The view is excellent and informative. If you go to the high floors and use the hallway windows on both sides, you get a free observation deck because the hotel is among the tallest buildings around. Unfortunately, not all windows are clean enough for pictures, but some are.
Interestingly, the elevators don't have inner doors so you can see the wall swooshing by. Not very safe, but kind of exciting.

service and comfort should have been better for the amount charged. Hotel is being renovated, and that is perhaps excuse, and is in a state of dilapidation. Lifts are terrible and internet service wi-fi is inadequate, even non existent. I would never stay in this hotel again unless I have to. Breakfast room was fine and satisfactory but a littlr bit old communist era style :)

Used Tampon Treasure Trove (Bloody Bombshell)

We weren't expecting much when we booked this hotel, we were aware of its rating and were just looking for a small break after being in hostels for months on end. We walked into the room and it wasn't so bad, it didn't smell great and there was a hole in the toilet wall, the bath/shower floor was cracked and missing pieces but none of this bothered us too much, we had certainly stayed in worse. It wasn't until my girlfriend thought she noticed bed bugs, naturally I pulled the mattress back to suss it out. What we found weren't bed bugs, but 3 used tampons wedged between the mattress and the wall. We went down to reception to tell them of our discovery and ask to move rooms, the man at reception grunted and gave us the key for the next room along. No apology, not even slightly shocked. Being 11pm we let it go and moved rooms. The room they moved us to was in the same condition minus the tampons. In the morning we asked to speak to the manager so that we could complain, not only about the poor hygiene but also the attitude of the night staff who seemed more interested in their own conversations than customer service. She apologised, and then proceeded to explain to us that it was a 1 star hotel, as if we should have expected as much. We left without a discount or much acknowledgement of our complaint. Basic hygiene shouldn't be this hard to achieve.

The hotel is as the reviews say - an interesting 1970s experience. However don't go for the economy room - they are dirty and like a hostel room in a tower. We changed to next level up and were happy with the stay.

The hotel is well located. There is a shuttle bus from the airport for about 300 dinars that goes directly to Slavija square very close to the hotel. The front desk staff of the hotel are friendly and helpful. The hotel rooms are fairly basic, small but good enough for budget accommodation for a night or two. Although found that the bathroom could be better in terms of water pressure for the toilet. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the centre of Belgrade (Knez Milahova street). There are buses and trams outside the hotel also that can be used to get to the centre.

it is only 2 star so one can not expect much.Cigaret Smoke was incredibly bad in the hotel. Rooms were 'no smoking' - we were on the 6th floor and we seriously struglled with breathing. All the clothes stink of the smoke. We washed all we could but leather coats we can not and they still stink after 4 days back at home.

Bargain basement prices so don't expect luxury. This hotel was evidently quite plush in the 1970s, but hasn't changed much since. There are some fabulous retro lamps and bathroom tiles in the rooms. Excellent location, with numerous trams and the airport bus stopping outside. Breakfast barely edible but there are several excellent bakeries just over the road. In short, this is a cheap, convenient place to crash for a few nights if you're not fussed about creature comforts.

The Slavija is a big and admittedly somewhat old-fashioned hotel, in a central location in Belgrade. I stayed here twice over a 3 week period and I appreciated the value for money and the hotel's convenient location. My room was clean and comfortable enough - and I really liked the breakfast buffets. All in all, I was pleased with the Slavija and would definitely stay here again. I think it's good value for money.

A tired hotel in need of renovation

This hotel is very convenient for a one night stay whilst waiting for onward travel the next morning or for a longer stay. It has its own JAT Airlines hourly bus service from the airport which only accepts local currency and never has enough change. But the airport was very comfortable and the staff were helpful, free WiFi in the reception area. The Hotel has a tired appearance and is in need of renovation which will of course put the prices up. Excellent value for money and very convenient for touring the centre of Belgrade on foot. I will be returning to this hotel for a longer stay.

A roof over your head

The staff were pleasant, although got annoyed when I asked for the rest of my change back at the end of the stay. I did not have the correct change when I paid so paid too much as they informed me I would receive the excess when I checked out, although even after two nights they informed me they still did not have change to give me the excess I had paid.

The room was basic, we could hear people talking in the neighboring rooms which was disruptive at night. The bathroom had ceiling panels and tiles from the walls missing, the bath had depth although no plug and was half the length of an English bath, and the shower head connected to the taps had nowhere to hock up so it was a case of standing in the bath holding the shower head. The carpet had stains on it and the beds had rubbish under them.

The room as attended to during our stay, they changed the towels and emptied the bin although they did not make the beds at all, I had merely flicked the covers over them and expected them to be tidied up to hotel standards. The covers were small, that if you moved in the night you were no longer being covered.

The hotel is good if you just need some shelter but don’t expect much for your money.

This hotel has charged me \"No show\" fee, because there were one more bed in the room. But I have reserved a single room, and don't know why they gave me two beds room, and why I needed to pay for an additional empty bed as \"no show\". Also, they charged me the cost of breakfast, even I left at 4am, and hotel's restaurant was closed at that time. I didn't have time to argue with them, because I had an early morning flight, so I paid the whole bill. Shame on them!

Cheep and good who does not want to spend much.

Hotel is old and unconfortable without AC , old rugs, bathrooms without proprer ventilation and very old peaces. Stuff is fine , breakfast is free and OK.

You get what you pay for

The rooms are quite run down with low standard. Compared to the price, you get what you pay for - a bed with clean sheets. The bonus is the location which is in the heart of the Slavia area with a lot of nice restaurants and cultural places.

Awful experience

In the city centre, no television fan or air condition. Very noisy keep the window shut to drop the level of traffic noise but then you suffocate. Do not feels secure because broken door chain. If you keep the window open for air then door will bang with the circulating air. My iPhone was stolen with in second of arrival at the reception desk while entering my card pin code for authorising. Hotel will charge the exchange rate of the day of departure. I have been quoted different charges on the day of arrival but charged higher amount because exchange rate were changed. Not sure if this applied if the rate goes down.

Basic Accomodation - very clean rooms

Hotel Slavija is Centrally located minutes away from St Sava Church. The hotel is extremely clean. The rooms are very basic however very clean, room service with fresh towels and linen daily. Highly recommended for the price paid.

Otelin eskiyen kirilan v.s. ekipmanlari daha titiz takip etmesi ve bakimlarini yapmasi gerekir.

Kahvaltidaki cesitlilik oldukca iyiydi.

This is a very classical hotel, looking like old movies. Very close the many attractions.

Despite the fact that I was there on September, the air conditioning was not enough and the room was deadly hot.

The cleaning needs are above the cleaning staffs capabilities. It needs a good painting and renewing.

Breakfast is good.
