We were a bit disappointed with this hotel. We were greeted politely and the lobby was beautifully decorated. Unfortunately the room was quite different. Spacious but dated. There was no air conditioning and it was very warm. We opened a window and found the curtain torn and ratty. The bed was fine but only 2 old pillows. The rug was stained by the garbage can and desk area. The amenities were less than expected in a 4 star hotel- only a hand and body wash. I would classify this as a basic 3 star hotel, definitely not a 4 star as described. It was fine for one night.

Twin room was 1 bed with 2 covers, had to sleep on the sofa as sleeping with my grandson isn’t an option.Had to show my bank statement to prove I paid before we could have breakfast. 45 minutes from receiving my key to getting to the room. I will be taking this situation further

Nice hotel, great receptionist

It's a nice hotel, so let's break it down:

Parking: Tricky. We were only in the Nissan Micra. If you're in a biggger car or SUV, you might find it challenging.

Reception: We checked in on a Friday. Everything was fine. We were advised that the restaurant was full that night (large coach party of Swiss tourists) but Anthea was more than happy to recommend alternative dinner options. I believe the hotel restuarant is also closed on Sat/Sun evening for dinner.

Room: We went for the Privilege Room. Twice the size of a normal room but well worth the extra cost. Totally recommended for the extra space. Free mini bar/snacks included.

Bathroom: Modern and clean.

Breakfast: Meh. Basically cereals/cold cuts. We skipped it on our last day even though it was included in our room rate.

Location: Excellent. Walk out the hotel door and look straight ahead for Europa Galleria. Walk 2mins up that road and your're in the centre of Saarbrücken. Left takes you towards the train station. Right takes you towards the main shopping mile. Great places to eat whichever direction you chose.

Special mention: Anthea Neuhaus. She checked us in professionally and politely. She then had to deal with me continuously forgetting my key card every time I came down from the room to smoke outside, and issuing me with duplicates. I think when we checked out I handed over six key cards. Every embarrassing for me, but Anthea was a star and a credit to Mercure hotels.

This had all the feel of a hotel aimed at the business person market. The restaurant was devoid of people on a Saturday night and the meal was disappointing and expensive. The reception staff were helpful and friendly.

The hotel was very modern and absolutely beautiful. The room was extremely comfortable and wonderful in size. Pleasantly surprised there was AC in room and also a mini fridge. Was surprised at lack of English ability with employees and signage for such a huge hotel. A card in room asked in English for guest to provide review, but all other signage, including restaurant menu is in German.

Closest hotel to train station. Breakfast is fairly overpriced, but other options are close by. I really like this hotel because it's so close to the jogging trail on the river. However, it's a little further away from the nice restaurants in old town (but a pleasant walk without luggage).

This is my go-to hotel when in Saarbrucken. This hotel is a short walk from the main train station. The rooms are large relative to many others in the area. After a week in tiny European hotel rooms, the space was a relief. Breakfast was good with a good variety. The rooms are slightly dated but well maintained and clean.

Great location but no caviar for breakfast!

Very good location and a decent place to stay in this really nice city. My only major issue is the price residents have to pay for breakfast. For €17.50 you expect at least a few truffles and caviar on toast. But alas! Bar closes a bit early but there are a few nice places for a late drink in the surrounding area. I was placed in a room facing the river that was really nice BUT the road that runs parallel with it is pretty noisy 24/7. Closing the window helps of course but you can still hear the cars/vans/buses/trucks and tractors passing by.

A Good Surprise

We booked at a more than reasonable price, so our expectations weren't high. However, the quality of the staff and room were so high that I have nothing to offer but praise for a wonderful experience. We arrived early, but were quickly allowed to register. The staff was friendly and efficient. The room was quite nice. The location was close to transportation and to Saarbruecken's pedestrian zone, where the Christmas market was occurring. All was good.

Great Location, Nice hotel, No coffee maker.

Pillows were less than useful, The hotel location was great with free parking. there was NO coffee maker in the room so needless to say the wife and were not impressed with that. first room I have stayed in in Europe that did not have a coffee maker! The staff were excellent and the room was very clean. check in and out was seemless. would stay again if they had a coffee maker.

Easy walk to shops, bars and restaurants or a walk along the river if you prefer.

Average hotel. Clean enough comfortable enough, but all just OK, nothing stood out. Restaurant food wasn't great either - I ate at 9.30pm and felt I must have been served whats been sitting in the bottom of the pan all day, dry and not much taste (its not difficult to make pasta). Also I had the superior room, it was anything but superior and I dread to think what a standard room would be like. And I only found out at check out that the minibar was free, would have been nice to be told this earlier (although it did only have about 3 things in it). It was in a good location and reasonable value for what it is though I suppose - which in my view is a 3 star hotel.

Very central, great restaurant, bad internet

Lovely comfortable and stylish room, great food at inhouse restaurant, very central for trains and buses (and shops) but the internet connection is deplorable. There is free Wifi which I was warned it's too slow, so I was sold the Accor Loyalty membership to get free fast Wifi. I took it out but I was never able to connect for more than a few stressful minutes every day. Possibly related to the distance from the router (I was on the 3rd floor). Given this was a business visit that was a major con, but otherwise very nice and relatively good value hotel with friendly staff.

One night stay on journey from Italy to Calais

We decided to stop over at Saarbrucken on our way from holiday in Italy to the ferry in Calais. We were told that the old part of the town was worth a visit. We picked the Mercure as it was very central and by the river. We were fortunate to find a free parking space at the front of the hotel so did not have to pay for garage parking. The staff on reception were not as welcoming as we had experienced in Fredrickschaffen the night before, but efficient, although they did not offer us a map of the city. The room was a no smoking room on a nonsmoking floor and was very nice overlooking the street, but this was noisy at night. The towels were so thin they were almost like sheets. The bar wasn't open and the restaurant only appeared to have pasta on the evening menu. We went out into the town at 6:30pm and the streets in the shopping area were rather dirty and very soul-less. We managed to find a restaurant for a meal and walked back by the river, but the area at the rear of the hotel was rather dirty.

We stayed one night in the hotel whilst touring in Europe. The staff are helpful and friendly. The restaurant was good, with a great choice of food and drinks. The bar was not open which was a bit odd, especially as they were showing the World Cup football on a large screen.

Good, clean hotel right downtown

This was a good hotel, but a lack of parking right on site made for a little distance to travel the night I got there at 9:15. However, the hotel was decent, and located right in the middle of downtown Saarbrucken. The room was clean and comfortable and front desk was helpful. Breakfast was decent, but nothing special. Essentially continental, and expensive, I thought. But I would still recommend it, primarily for its location.

a little more upscale

This hotel was the most upscale of my vacation. They had an expensive restaurant attached. It was in walking distance of the train station. The neighborhood had many shops and had a definate city atmosphere. The hotel felt secure. You need to use your hotel key to go up the elevator. There was a police station nearby. Smoking rooms had a separate floor, and if the elevator opened to that floor, you definately smelled it.

Not a good deal

The hotel is conveniently close to the Hbf and a main bus stop. The pedestrian part of town, and restaurants, are nearby. That's about all I can say for it. It's a dreary \"business hotel\". In addition to having no charm or soul, it also charges exorbitantly for breakfast and WiFi. It's clearly for people on a business account, but even they would probably do better elsewhere.

The two of us spent a night at the Mercure Saarbruecken City while visiting the Saarbruecken Christmas Market in December. The hotel was 8 minutes' walk from the train station, and around the corner from the Christmas Market along the pedestrian thoroughfare -- an unbeatable location. The staff was pleasant and English-speaking. The decor and amenities, in true German style, were adequate and comfortable, solid and unpretentious. The prices were reasonable, especially considering the excellent location.

Hotel bzw. das Zimmer war in Ordnung, auch wenn viele Flecken den Teppich verzieren, was nicht so einlandend wirkt. Ob ma im Bad ein Wanne braucht, ist relativ, eine schöne Dusche reicht aber i. d. R. gut aus. Klasse was das Frühstück und das Personal dort, die wie alle anderen Mitarbeiter auch, sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit waren.

Très bel hôtel super bien situé, proche du centre ville à pied.

Très bon accueil lors du Check-in.

Les chambres étaient spacieuses, belle vue sur la Sarre.

Très bon petit déjeuner.

Seul bémol: il faisait vraiment trop chaud dans la chambre même si nous avions coupé la ventilation. Il y avait trop de bruit le soir pour dormir la fenêtre ouverte.

A part ça tout était parfait!

Excellent confort pour cet hôtel très bien placé de surcroît. Très propre, silencieux, bonne literie. Proximité immédiate avec la gare, le centre des congrès, les commerces et les bords de la Sarre. Parking sécurisé et payant dans les prix pratiqués à Sarrebruck centre... soit 13€ une nuit. 5-6 places dispo en extérieur et gratuites.

Die kleine Tiefgarage war voll und wir mussten auf ein sehr entfernt gelegenes Parkhaus ausweichen. Nur weil das Parkhaus einen Vertrag mit dem Hotel hatte. Ein anderes Parkhaus wäre sehr viel näher gelegen.
