We had a double room that was basic but more than adequate. Nice light from 2 windows. Location is right next to the Cathedral and very walkable for all of town inside the wall. Plenty of close shopping and dining options. Loved being able to use the juicer at breakfast for fresh squeezed orange juice. Young ladies at the front desk (Julia and Jenae) were fabulous. Historic place with lots of character. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely character hotel with lots of charm and history! The staff at reception were excellent and very helpful. Our room was a good size with a big wardrobe, desk, and windows. The bathroom was also a good size with a shower and tub. Very quiet for sleeping. The hotel breakfast had lots of food options and was in a grand dining room or out on the terrace. We would absolutely come back to this hotel!

Our room was changed to a 3 bed room, up stairs once inside . Not great for bad knees. Room was very tired and very basic. The blanket left for us was filthy. Would you want to sleep under that? Service upon check in was chaotic. This hotel could be amazing however it needs major updating and attention to details for example lighting at street level burnt out.

I adore this hotel; it lives up to all my fantasies.It has traditional, old-fashioned rooms in a former palace, with luxury touches like a spacious, windowed marble bathroom with a huge bathtub, bidet, and super-fluffy towels. Charming terraces, beautiful breakfast room, and cosy interior bar and television lounge (besides the TV in each room); excellent staff; great location amply compensate for the many maany stairs (no elevator).

1 minute walk to Evora ruins, close to shops and local restaurants. Great property, no elevator but no big deal; you can hear noises around 0300 from other individuals in the streets (weekend); unfortunately power went off in the middle of the night. Staff are really nice & helpful.

Perfect location. Only 5-ish minutes walk from the major sights - Cathedral, Templo Romano, Chapel of Bones and also the beautiful, peaceful public gardens.

The staff at the hotel were wonderful - so friendly and kind.

The hotel has so much character and the terrace is a lovely place to sit at any time of day looking over a lovely little square with a beautiful church and trees.

My room was very comfortable and with thick stone walls and very high ceilings so was very cool.despite the warm weather.

Hotel Solar de Monfalim was beautiful, quaint, quiet, clean, within walking distance of the major sites and their customer service was exceptional. During my stay there, I ran into a very serious personal emergency. Both Ines and the owner were so gracious to help me resolve the problem as quickly as possible, providing the assistance I needed amidst my panic. Additionally, Hotel Solar de Monfalim graciously provided me with an upgraded room because of some issues that I was having with my room. I would definitely recommend them and I hope to return the next time that I am in Évora.

Historical stay plus walking to everything = yes!!

Fantastic experience! It’s a super old historical building (read as HUNDREDS of years old) that was ‘lightly’ renovated as a hotel. Also very close to everything in the city! The fanciest people should NOT stay here but those that enjoy history and don’t mind basic rooms will really enjoy it. Our night time staff (English name John) was awesome and we really enjoyed grabbing his attention from his work to chat in the lounge by the fireplace! Their owner now has a winery and my wife enjoyed the Rose. Thanks again John, we will stay again if we return!

The hotel is nicely located, away but close enough to the centre and monuments. This was a crazy city to navigate and GPS was essential to get around. Lots of nice walks around town and plenty of cafes and bars to stop at. And nice to be in a well preserved building with lots of antiques.

Although perhaps a bit dated, this property is amazing and we would definitely stay here again. The building is fascinating with all its nooks and its quirks, the grounds are lovely, and it is a short walk to the main square in the old city and to all the amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful, holding our bags for us when we arrived early for checkin, and helping us book transportation for the next leg of our journey. All in all, an amazing place in a great location!

This hotel building dates back to the 1600’s and was once the home of a very prominent local family, from which it takes its name. Full of character, with many out and indoor sitting areas. Location is very convenient, the staff were lovely and helpful. No hot breakfast, but everything else you could want and you could sit in the dining room or eat outside looking out at the jacaranda trees, which were in full nloom.

Wonderful stay in the historic part of Évora! Highly recommend. They have a bar with a fireplace which feels like an old English lodge. The front staff were amazing. We even had their breakfast and me being Celiac was able to find lots to fill me up. We would love to come back and stay there again!

This is a historic hotel right near Evola's cathedral and is within easy walking distance to many sights, museums, shopping, and restaurants. Low-key, comfortable, and clean with all the basic amenities and very friendly staff. If you like antique, charming hotels this is a wonderful place to stay. We would love to come back for a longer stay!

Pros: Hotel is in a good location for walking to all the sights of Evora. Picturesque and charming exterior with a nice front terrace overlooking a tree shaded little square. Helpful staff.

Cons: Not a lot of modern amenities, the hotel is showing its age. A little tricky to drive out of Evora from the hotel due to street closures, required some narrow alley driving.

This is a charming hotel. If you are looking for modern this is not for you. If you are looking for history and charm this is a great place to stay. Lots of common areas that are super comfortable to sit and relax. Patio is clean and quiet. Close to the Cathedral a d other historic places.

Lovely, quaint hotel! But, be aware it does not have an elevator! The lobby is on the second floor with long steps to climb. Also, it is inside the wall of Evora and parking is difficult to find. You may have to park outside the wall and carry your luggage in and up all those stairs, so pack light! Our room was comfortable and had 2 twin beds pushed together. The bed was not as comfortable as other hotels we stayed in in Portugal. It was too hard. Staff was very nice, hotel was clean. It was rather noisy, though.

The location was excellent but difficult for us to find because we were driving. I would not recommend driving inside the walls for anyone visiting. Park outside and take a taxi to your hotel. The weather was cool on our visit and we especially enjoyed the fireplace in the bar room. This is a very old property that has been updated in many areas since it was changed from a private home to a hotel in 1893. Lots of stairs so if you are carrying more than an overnight bag this isn't the hotel for you. I would return to this hotel. The staff were very helpful and kind.

I picked this hotel because it had one room that could sleep three people. The room had a fabulous bathroom with good water pressure and a bidet. We did not see their \"standard\" 2 person rooms. The desk was staffed 24hrs a day with very kind people. The included breakfast was quite nice. You should believe the guide books when they recommend parking outside the town wall and either walking or taking a bus in to the hotel areas. Our rental car very nearly had to be airlifted out of an ever-narrowing alleyway.

Lovely hotel in beautiful town

Lovely hotel, very central. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Only complaints were that the wifi connection wasn't great (but adequate), the bath blocked up and shower wasnt so good but minor irritations. The room and whole building is lovely - simply and traditionally decorated. There were some beautiful old Portuguese tiles and a pretty verandah with a view to sit out on. Good value for money.

Solar Malfalim is a great hotel in a nice location in lovely Evora. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful and speak English very well. The room was very comfortable and the attached bathroom was nice. Breakfast is not fancy but very adequate and good. I would recommend this hotel to others.

This was a very uncomfortable room, maybe we got the worst room. Also the shower head was broken, no heat, internet was very intermittent, the towels were thread bare and the TV channels didn't work, just got snow.

It's a beautiful hotel with charm!! The beds and linens are comfy, room and bath are large, the hotel is clean,well maintained, well decorated, breakfast has lots of choices, beautiful patio with views and everything you want to see is within walking distance. The staff is wonderful!!! We couldn't have asked for a better group of people to make our stay more enjoyable. The hotel makes you feel as if you stepped back in time and are part of a royal family. We hated to leave!!!

In the heart of Evora, very convenient location.

Very convenient location for the sightseeing of Evora. Major historic places are in walking distance. The hotel was charming and with the atmosphere of history. Real fireplace was also in a good mood.
Breakfast selection was limited but it was ok.
No private parking available but public parking was available.
If you want to experience the middle age atmosphere, it would be a good choice.

The hotel is just 10 min taxi ride from the bus station and only a few minutes walk from the main tourist sites. Stayed there for 2 nights in Dec and I enjoyed sitting in the cosy lounge with a fireplace. The hotel is an interesting building and the facilities are in good condition. Very reasonable price.

Great location in Evora and walking distance to all the main sights. We arrived by bicycle and our bikes were kept in the courtyard behind a locked gate.

The staff were very friendly and it's an interesting building to stay in, but the rooms are a little dated and more choice at breakfast would have been nice.

The staff could not have been friendlier and were very helpful. It was unseasonably cold, and our room was plenty warm but the common areas where the WiFi was available were uncomfortably cold, even with the portable heater available. A fire was started in the fireplace of one charming room, but the WiFi was too spotty in that room to sit and enjoy it if we needed the WiFi. Our room was plenty large for 3 people, but the bathroom was small. The included breakfast was adequate, but no hot items other than to drink and less variety than we had seen at other Portuguese hotels where we had stayed. The building is charming, lots of local color.
