The staff were all great, including waiting, cleaning and reception staff. Shame there’s no sun loungers at the beach, given it’s a beachside property. Towel system a bit annoying. Pools not being heated was an issue for October holiday but can imagine summer it’s ok. The one main issue we found was the allergy labelling on food was inconsistent and not clear at all. The staff were also not reassuring, telling us one thing had something in one night and then the next night not. Would be very worrying for serious allergies.

Very nice hotel. The apartment we stayed in was a bit aged, but comfortable enough. Buffet was amazing at both dinner and breakfast. Staff were great! The kids pool was a great success with our 2 years old.

Busy as expected, lot food options but may rather find balance between quality and quantity.
Staff accommodating but also busy. Pool floor quality slippery so maybe some warning for young kid and elderly may help prevent unfortunate falls.
Overall excellent for pool, beach time and reasonable price.

El hotel es maravilloso, no me gustó que publiciten spa y que lo que haya sea una piscina interior helada y que ofrezcan masajes… eso no es un spa. Y la animación de 12 a 16 no existe… se quedan estos niños sin nada. Por lo demás el servicio muy bueno y la comidas espectaculares. Nos ha gustado mucho!

The property or clean and very nice. However:
The pictures show a beach but this is not part of the hotel and need to pay for beach chair and umbrella
Restaurants in the area are average and limited options for nice dining
No touristic attractions nearby
Uber is only transportation and very expensive
Most tourist attractions leave from Malaga which is around 45 minutes away.
There is an all inclusive option but if you don’t chose that, a meal would pay €35 per person
You have to pay €3 per day for the in room safe
The airport is around an hour away.

Hotel fabuleux, le personnel est à nos petits soins et ils est chaleureux et souriant. Nos demnades ont ete faite dans une belle chambre avec vue sur mer. Hôtel de qualité, très beau. Les repas sont variés avec différents themes des pays et de bonnes qualités et variés le buffet.

We loved our time at Iberostar Waves Málaga Playa. It was beautiful in every way. The beach only steps away from the pool. The grounds are gorgeous and the staff fun and helpful. The food was delicious with so many options. We had breakfast plan so we went to restaurants for dinner which was great being 10 minutes walk to many options.

The balcony had a double tiled step which was difficult to see and was a danger to myself AND my wife who gas sight problems

The towels in the room were old and thin. New investment on towels at least to the better rooms need considering
Our glasses in the room were not changed or cleaned throughout our 3 day stay. We had to wash and clean our glasses every day. Not hygienic.

Very well organised and well appointed family hotel. We had an apartment with half board but all inclusive is available. The apartment had a basic kitchen and there’s a supermarket almost opposite.

There’s direct access to the beach from the swimming pool area.

Travelling with a coeliac and Spain, and this hotel in particular, seems very well set up for gluten-free eating.

Another Great Stay

This is my third time at this hotel. This time I stayed with my teenage son for 5 nights. Our room was excellent, really cold air conditioning and immaculately clean.
The staff at the hotel are always very friendly, great selection of food (we were half board) which is slightly different every night.
The pool area is great too, kept very clean, loads of sun beds, good activities and right on the beach.
The only (very slight) negative I have is that the beds are a little on the soft side, although I realise of course that that’s very subjective.

Facilities are lovely and there are lots of activities to get involved in the day
Only issue we had was the reduced drink choice in the restaurant but this was rectified by bringing our drinks to the restaurant from another bar.

Nice hotel more suited to families

Nice hôtel right on thé beach but very very family orientated so would not suggest for people looking for a stay on the quieter side.
Also all of the restaurants on site are buffet style with most guests going all inclusive so this made it extremely busy and not very relaxing if you did choose to dine at the hotel.

Plenty of restaurant options on the beach but would be nice if there was one a la carte restaurant option on sight.

Firstly I tried and failed 4 times to contact iberostar to see what the best rate I could get the first time they replied to ask how many people nights and room type I replied with the information then chased them for an answer 4times. I got so fed up of waiting I went to the hotel I asked the reception what the best rate was they said they couldn’t book but put me through to the central reservations. They said the Hotel was fully booked which I knew it wasn’t as I’d looked just moments earlier on line. He then retracted that they were full and said the best rate was £249 again this was incorrect as the rate for a horizon member was £204 and even cheaper on Expedia. With my perks and it being the cheapest I booked through Expedia. I asked if I could have a pool or sea view I got a view of the car park. Once in the room although cleaned to an exceptional standard the walls were all marked the lampshade edge was all frayed the mini bar was stained inside and there was a mark on the curtain. Overall the public areas and room as well as the gym and indoor pool looked and felt like a dungeon dark dismal and in need of an upgrade. I had asked in my previous emails what the classes were for adults again once checked in really disappointed as there was still not one yoga class which I could do. I have not been away for two years and recently lost someone very close to me so my stay was a treat to myself time to recharge and relax what I got was anxious panicky and due to this…,

There are truly not enough words to describe how magical our stay was. The facility was impeccably taken care of. The food and drink and entertainment were absolutely fantastic. But what truly made it magical was the amazing staff. Fran was so fun with all the activities. Juan in the dining room was the sweetest and absolutely ever staff member made sure we had the best time. This was our best all inclusive experience ever.

We are a family with 3 year old thinking garden would be nice.. but it turns out the grass condition isn’t great. We don’t use the garden at all. Room 134 is quite cold as it will get sun in the afternoon only. Everything is as good as what you can see in the photos. One main advantage is the shower/bath water is very strong in this room.

Firstly the good points,

Reception staff were great , hard working helpful etc.
Drinking water available from dispensers throughout the hotel. Great idea.
Carmen in the Spa , amazing deep tissue massage!

Unfortunately that's where the good points end.
The hotel caters predominantly for all inclusive customers which we were not. There are no options to eat on the complex other than a very poorly stocked snack bar that closes at 6pm in the evening anyway. When enquiring about eating one evening in the all inc buffet we were quoted 35 euros each for food. Extortionate , beyond belief 35 EUROS!!!! each for a buffet. Obviously we had to decline , it was a particularly cold and wet evening but had to venture out to eat. Fortunately we found a wonderful bar on the beach, Mambos , where we ate and drunk wonderful food and drink for 40 euros total.

The pool looks amazing, no argument there, but unless you can morph into a polar bear it is unusable , so cold , we were amazed that it hadn't iced over , surely during the colder months some sort of heating should be used to take the chill off???
The pool bar was closed , WHY? surely the idea of a pool bar is that when you are relaxing by the pool you are able to have a drink and snack at the pool bar.
Out of season this hotel is very isolated with the majority of local bars and restaurants closed , opening back up Easter time so bear this in mind should you be looking to book this hotel.

Very clean. Food, excellent choices, changed each evening.
We stayed in a junior suite, i asked to see a better one and was told there wasn't one. Was shown a room on higher floor (as had requested higher floor and one given was on lower floor) which was very small and inferior. The room we had was spacious with good sitting room area and large bathroom. Bathroom really needed upgrading, VERY old fashioned bath in dark corner, only one sink. No seperate shower, but loads of room for one. It was only after we had been there a day or so that i realised we were lucky to have the room we had with the view and sun we had compared to others. Indoor pool pleasant but not deep enough, only 1 metre deep throughout. Sauna but no steam room. Weird carpety stuff on corridors. Lots of hand sanitiser everywhere but no enforcement of use. Good place for short winter stay.

We really enjoyed our stay. Very good location right on the beach. You had to pay for sunbeds on the beach 5 Euros each but not at the hotel. Overall the food was good however you had to watch and wait on the food being cooked fresh and put into the dishes. There didn’t appear to be hot plates just a lamp above the food. I touched the side of the dish holding the baked beans and even the dish was cold. No use having a cooked breakfast as it was cold. You could however have a bowl of Muesli and a freshly cooked omelette. There was a selection of salads, pasta, pizza and paella every night. Some evening there was fish, chicken, beef or ribs but again you had to observe when the food came off the griddle or it was cold. Waiters were very friendly and efficient. Tables were cleared very quickly. The dining room was marked out as a one way system but most people ignored it.

A mixed experience

On arrival at 23.30 we were given a accessible room which would be great for guests with disabilities bur not suitable for us.Also there wasn't any tea or coffee making facilities not even a bottle of water,we don't consider this to be the standard of a four star hotel. An iberastar standard is that you are welcomed on arrival with a refreshment drink this was not offered nor was it offered to other guests the next day? After speaking with the very helpful fernando on reception who listened to our issues gave a mote suitable room for our needs and the rest of the stay was fine.

Cleaning of the rooms was not great things still left dirty. Reception staff need to have better management of people queuing as too many people cut in the line and whilst being served, reception staff will address other peoples issues, delaying the process unnecessary. Also rooms are quite dated would have expected much better for a 4 star, also for the price paid the cost of the safe should be included

Ok but be prepared to be gouged for everything

Beware of additional fees for everything from the room safe to water with dinner. We were there on halfboard (breakfast and dinner) and were surprised that we received NOTHING to drink with dinner. Basic drinks are expensive. The food however was abundant, flavourable and varied. We had basic accommodations which were just basic. Our room was noisy night and day. This is a family oriented facility with lots of children and the noise they make if that’s a problem for you.
We found staff at reception and at the bars to be indifferent at best.
We enjoyed walking the boardwalk.

This property is amazing. The hotel is relatively new and in very good condition. Our room was a junior suite with a king bed. It was very comfortable. The bathroom was nice and functional as well. The breakfast options were endless and it was all very good. I strongly recommend this hotel/resort. The pool area is very large, clean and well maintained. The beach is out the back gate of the hotel but it is a public beach and a few must be paid to use a lounge and umbrella on the beach. All inclusive arrangements are available.

First class hotel which was really clean. Excellent pool area, shame that there were the usual issues with people reserving beds and not using, but there were lots to choose from.
Stayed half board and food was fine, can’t complain about the choice, but am not a buffet fan no matter how good.
I would go back for the hotel, but not a lot in immediate area. Nerja which is lovely is only 15 minutes away.

We have just returned from seven wonderful days at this beautiful, spotless and excellent hotel. Every member of staff has a smile on their face and are very helpful and friendly. Our room was comfortable and clean. The food is delicious with plenty of choices. The food selection at breakfast and dinner was amazing. Fresh bread, cheeses, cold meats, fresh fruit & vegetables, fish and salads. The pool area is very well laid out with very comfortable sunbeds. Just walk through the gate and you are straight onto the promenade which is lined with cafes and restaurants.

Lovely hotel with good bars, pool, buffet restaurant, all set in nice grounds and with secure direct access to the beach and promenade. We couldn’t fault the quality and selection of foods available. Recommended

Not a 4 star resort

I will share some highlights:

Unfriendly reception staff
Overall understaffed (personnel running like crazy)
No one knows any English
Our balcony door locked by itself and there was no external handle in the door to open it. This is a major security issue. Hopefully I had my mobile with me and called the reception. When the maintenance person opened the door he did not say anything, let alone apologizing.
Overall poorly maintained and need of refurbishment
The area around the hotel is dodgy
Housekeeping was hit and miss. The room was not occupied for 4 hours between 10 and 2 and half of the times it was not cleaned.... hilarious!!!!

Fantastic views, amenities and local things to do.

Wonderful for families.

Small gym, needs more equipment.

Shuttle from airport would be good.

Mindful of hidden costs e.g. safe in room is €3 per day.
