I arrived later in the night for check in due to a work issue. My reservation was for Friday thru Sunday. Upon arrival I checked in only to find they gave my king room away to someone else because I booked through a 3rd party and had not checked in earlier - and yet they were already paid from Expedia. They scurried around and literally had to call management to figure out what happened and what to do. Finally they gave me one of their very last rooms with 2 queens and apologized for the inconvenience. Sunday morning I called for a late checkout due to a later morning event - and was told since they were super busy and had too many late checkouts already they could only do 1:00 and my whole problem with my reservation was it was through 3rd party and check in and late checkouts were not guaranteed. WHAT??? Craziest stay ever. Thankful I had a room but the whole stay was a real disappointment.

only reason for not giving 5 star - refrigerator must be getting bad as it thumped all night. Also, lights in room are not very bright. Talked to front desk at check out about it and they informed me that they were looking into this already. not too bad for an older hotel.

Checking in was easy. Room was clean and comfortable. Hotel was very nice. I was asked to pay $30 at check in. Was told it was for incidentals and that Expedia would credit that back to me, along with a receipt of refund and of the hotel stay. Please refund the incidental fee to my card on file and send me a receipt for stay and refund. Thank you!!

Bed was comfortable. Place was clean. The kids liked the atrium and being able to play bags and hang out. The water pressure in our room was terrible. Barely a trickle. Room was very dark. Noise from atrium late at night was very disruptive. People talking very loudly. Finding the elevator and our room was challenging! We saw several people who got lost. Elevators need to be clearly marked as they were through a fire door. Overall stay was ok, but would ask for a room that does not overlook atrium due to the noise.

Ask about the breakfast before eating. It wasn't clear whether it was \"free\" or not. We were told it wasn't for us but then were not billed. Good outcome but very confusing.
Hotel layout is also confusing. Hard to find elevators.
Pool is nice but be prepared for the smell of chlorine in the lobby!
Very conveniently located to airport and KSU campus, less than ten minutes and very direct travel

Very clean hotel, with a nice room overhaul. My only complaint about the room was, that the toilet was too low to the floor, the toilet height was made for a child or very short person. The food was excellent, if you don’t mind the one hour wait to get your order delivered. I was told the buffet close, and was only used if the hotel was busy, otherwise it’s individual ordering.

This hotel, on the day I visited had no hot water . It seems this was hotel wide.

When I asked the front desk for some sort of compensation, they denied my request and offered me points - which I NEVER received.

On my way out, I asked for a receipt. Never was emailed to me. I called back, asked for it again. Same deal ( yes I know about spam, junk email folders and the like). No receipt ( ever ) and the persons helping me were way less than friendly and offered no alternatives, they made it my problem.

Both these rather small but significant issues - I’ll never stay here or at another DoubleTree again.

Checkin was very easy. Staff were nice. It had the usual small convenience store near the front desk.
Rooms were comfortable and beds very soft and comfy.
This hotel has been rehabbed in the recent past, and it is still in very good shape. New carpet, furniture, beds etc. Bathroom was nice.

It was the little things that got it the lower rating. Drains were slow. The halls had not had as much attention as the rooms and lobby. Our room was poorly lit. They need a real bartender in the bar, things like that.
It was also noisy our second night. Not the hotels fault, but did leave an impression.

Overall, if you need a place in Manhattan to stay near campus and get a good rate to you could do a lot worse. Not sure I will stay her again.

Superior Customer Service was Gold Standard

Excellent customer service! When we checked and some things were broken, the indoor pool and our room thermostat, they immediately corrected & compensated us better than we expected for some of the issues were beyond there control.

They not only immediately moved us and upgraded our room They brought new keys to us within 3 minutes of us calling them, and helped us move our luggage just across the hall. They added the hot breakfast buffet and compt'd more of our stay.

This hotels staff and management was extremely dedicated to making sure our stay was perfect, and more than we expected.
We will absolutely be staying here again when we travel. We are also telling everyone about how great of service you get from this hotel, staff and management.
We did them 10 Gold Stars!! Their Customer Service is top-notch! They made my family vacation a success, and my wife and kids happy. That is Priceless!!!!

This property was a little run down for a Double Tree. It was really hard to find our room. I don’t know how many doors and halls we traveled through before we found it. Things aren’t well marked. The atrium area was neat. It was quiet. We were worried when we arrived there were a bunch of buses in the parking lot but there were no problems with that.

The rooms were nicely remodeled and clean but the air conditioner did not work. It was very warm in the room. The on sight restaurant was advertised but no one was there to serve you. We waited around for the bar tender but he just kept saying he would be with us but kept attending the guys at the bar. We went somewhere off property to eat. The ladies at the front counter were friendly and offered delicious cookies. Overall it was pretty good.

No hand soap. We asked the front desk and they said they were out. So we had to lean over and get soap from the shower dispenser attached to the shower wall every time we needed to wash our hands. Also, we booked a King room but when we arrived they were out. Breakfast was not good. Cold coffee, no cream. I wouldn’t pay for it. The whole place is pretty run down.

This Hotel Missed the Memo on Doing It Easier

And that's a good thing! The fact that they had a laundry bag, an actual closet with hangers, a safe, a fridge, a hairdryer, hair and body products available, AND curtains that close completely and were not just for decoration were incredible. It really felt like a timecapsule of a hotel from the mid-2000s or before were a hotel looked, felt, and operated like your temporary home. And the sheets weren't the polyester nightmare that so many other hotels insist on! I was able to temperature regulate instead of slowly steaming my skin all night. Fantastic staff, fantastic stay, highly, highly recommend!

A place not to stay in Manhattan

Water pressure almost non-existent. Also, had to fix toilet (chain broken between handle and flapper.) to fill up under ten minutes. Got lost looking for room, needed a map. AC would not go lower than 72, we set at 65. Door to hallway would not function without forcing it. No microwave, needed tutorial for TV service. Will not recommend this property to family & friends.

Pool heater broken so pool was cold. Bathroom door handle was broken so if we shut door all the way it would lock us in bathroom and needed to have another person let us out. We stayed 3 days, housekeeping never came entire time to clean room. Large traveling group checked in last night we were there and stayed near pool area being extremely loud, front desk would not ask them to keep it down until the 10 pm “queit time”. Lastly, no breakfast buffet and costs are higher than a waffle house, so go there instead. Overall only reason we picked this hotel was for pool, won’t be coming back.

I will add that all staff interactions were positive and nice.
