Old property - grimy rooms

Right from the start there were problems. The AC in the room was not working and the controls were broken. Whilst I use my mobile for calls the in-room did not work and despite someone coming to fix it they just left the job half-done. The room carpet was stained and old. Every corner expecially in the bathroom had ingrained dirt. I did not request a smoking room but it was the only one they had. I was staying for an extended trip (15 nights). The property overall needs an update. The shower head was broken and sprayed water all over again I complained but it was not fixed.

OK for a short stay

Booked a room with a city view... the view was of the roof and a slice of the city. Bedroom was clean and spacious however the 'sofa' was badly stained. The bathroom was old and tired. Good hot water pressure thought.

Housekeeping staff were extremely helpful and efficient

Meals were excellent. ALL restaurant staff iexcellent.

Unfortunately the spa & hair salon were only open to men which was a major disappointment. Women have not been considered in this area which is a missed opportunity! Instead women have a 'gym' (hardly) on the first floor, with just a few treadmills, a couple of yoga mats and random weights. In addition the provision of just 1 toilet and handwashing facilities means having to queue. Given that there are many women staying at the hotel surely better facilities for women should be provided!

Basic hotel, very small window in room. Breakfast was okay… Unfortunately, they had an emergency announcement that went of all three days of our stay, saying we need to vacate the building, and once was at 1:00am. Another night a staff member knocked on our door at 2:00am, mistakenly thinking we called for towels. Tough to sleep in that environment!!

The room was in a very bad condition, room door was open and can’t close smoothly, TV unit was broken, iron was broken and leaking water, bathroom wasn’t in good condition!

Good stay at this hotel during my first visit to Riyadh. Saleem was very helpful with the luggage and explaining the facilities of the hotel. Impressed with all the staffs service including the checking in staff. Good wifi service and walkable distance to local shops
Recommend this hotel for the stay.
Could have more restuarant choices. Slight negative is the food choice at the hotel restuarant. Buffet only so slightly on the pricey side.

The stay was excellent. Staff were very friendly and professional, who always went out of their way to help. Breakfast buffet was a great experience. The facilities were all well maintained and visually appealing. My only suggestion is to enhance room soundproofing where even normal talk is clearly heard.

Budget hotel , needs renovation

Barely maintained in an acceptable condition. Really old and some parts (gym, pool, sauna...etc) are like been abandoned and neglected.
Well , you get what you pay for . For a budget conscious individuals this is a bargain. For comfort and luxury folks, this is not the place!
Definitely the hotel need refurbishing (carpets/sofas ...etc.)

I was not allowed to stay in this property, as my \"pre-paid and confirmed\" booking was over-booked in the hotel property on arrival. I was then told that there was a problem, and that I was being moved to a 'sister hotel' called the MENA Hotel, which was dirty, substandard and very poor in every respect. I booked one thing, and was then delivered another -- bait and switch in its clearest form. Not a pleasant experience at all, but I was on a tight schedule, was pre-occupied with important business and not interested in dealing with the last minute hassle to change hotels at my expense.

I travel quite frequently to riyadh and this is the hotel i usually put in. Being an IHG gold member I am entitled to few benefits and service privlidges which was missing during my stay this time. It wasn't looked into even after me reminding the front desk. Hotel services in Saudi isn't the best but least was expected from a hotel chain which you are so loyal to.

Staying here was a constant feeling of compromises, good service, followed by bad service.

1) The workout area is in need of some serious attention. There is an outside door that is always open in the area that leads to the workout room. Meaning it's 100 degrees in and out of the room, plus hot air is always pushing its way in. The staff in this area is nearly non-existent and it shows. The changing areas and showers are not clean and in need of repair (some showers are broken, for example). The AC either has a timer or the staff turns it off if no one is in there. For example, I visit at 1:00PM, all AC units in the workout area are off and it's HOT in there. I turn them all on to cool it down and go back to my room. About 30 minutes later I come down, and they're off again.

2) Room Service is adequate but unable to provide a consistent experience. I was here during Ramadan which means I had to use room service quite a lot. In the room service menu it states \"half portions\" are available. When ordering I would ask for this and only had it done correctly once. Trying to explain this to the person delivering the food did not help. The front desk was not helpful either. Feels like they just want to take more money from me.

3) Rooms. I had the opportunity to try two rooms during my stay due to construction in the middle of the night directly above my room. Much like the workout area the rooms need some general maintenance. TV service is lacking, it's Riyadh basic cable.

Previously stayed at HI Olaya. Rooms there are larger but noisier. The service at HI Al Qasr was more attentive and the F & B was better than HI Olaya.

Rooms were perfectly cleaned, very comfortable bed and mattress (I really had very good sleep). near by are two pakistani restaurants, and not far (just need to cross Olaya Street) one nice Turkish restaurant.
The only thing I did not like was dealing with taxis in front of the hotel they are always asking for almost double price :(

hotel staff very pleasant to foreign women visiting. i was allowed to dine in the singles area, usually only men allowed. only down fall to stay was the gym and pool were for men only. the hotel needs to either have an area for women or create a ladies only time .

In fact, I came back the very next night for two more nights after a 7 day stay.The breakfast is wealthy with healthy foods, and items to indulge on. The room service was nice, housekeeping were prompt and overall a pleasure to stay at.
