A fun place to stay!

We love staying at the Jumbo Stay. The one thing we don't love is hauling luggage up the stairs - it looks like there was once an elevator for luggage, not now. We did find out, too late, that some airlines will check your bags the night before. Next time.

This is the perfect location for a one-night stay, the first stop on the bus, obviously still at the airport. The beds are amazingly comfortable. Having the bathroom down the aisle for one night is fine. Where else can you get "breakfast" at 3am? It's self-serve and not wonderful, but if you need a little something before an early flight, it's there. The price is very reasonable and how often can you sleep in a plane turned hostel! We've stayed five times so far.

JUMBO STAY

A converted Boeing 747 airliner which was quite quirky. The outside does not look desirable and is in need of some paint work. However, the owner is very friendly. The room was basic but comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the WC and shower was clean and modern. Breakfast was cold items but plentiful. Free bus from the airport terminal. I would stay again.

When booking this hotel take into consideration that everything is self service there - checkin, breakfast. When checking in you need to call a phone number to get instructions. Luckily I had roaming to make a call. If you have some physical issues or limitations it will be challenging to get to your room, because the elevator doesn’t work. The breakfast was limited and by 7 AM no clean dishes were left to use. Another unexpected problem was windy weather - the hotel (plane) was shaking like in a real flight. Nice experience for one night - not more.

The 'continental breakfast' is some hard bread, and some old ham and plastic cheese slices cling wrappedn in a fridge. There is some corn flakes also. I'm glad it was included in my room because if I had paid for this I would have been severely disappointed. The showers were clogged and didn't drain properly. The room was simple but seemed clean and fine. Staff were mainly on their phones and gave short responses. Wifi speed was fine.

Just okay for one night

Its location is definitely a plus; very close to the airport via the airport bus shuttle which runs 24 hours. The setting is unique obviously. The owner is kind and provides a detailed instruction.

However, I wouldn't stay here for multiple nights. The room was very tiny and the shared bathrooms were inconvenient (I saw some people with minimal clothes on walking to the bathroom). The elevator was also out of order, so it is difficult to go to the lobby and the rooms from outside.

It was fantastic to stay the night in the engine! Great for a room before an early flight. I love that they start their free breakfast at 3am! It goes all the way to 10am. 4 showers within the plane and I was happy they were not booked up when I had to shower before leaving. Friendly and unique! I’d stay again!

This hotel is very easy to get to and from if you are flying in and out or Arlanda. The no shoes policy was very annoying. After arriving late at night and carrying our bags up 2 flights of stairs we did not want to take our shoes off, but did only to find that the bathrooms had water all over the floor so our socks were nice and wet when all we wanted to go was get warm and sleep before our flight out the next morning.

We lived the experience. It was perfect for an overnight layover. The shuttle was very convenient. The drop off at 1am was a little scary in the dark and the bus driver was not the nicest. He was not a hostel employee but maybe a lighted sign or direction signage at the bus stop area would help. I would recommend this to anyone with a layover at ARN

The advertisement for this location didn't make it clear that it is in a Boeing Airplane. It would have been an interesting thing to experience had I known up front what I was signing up for. Also the fact that there was no receptionist on the premise when arriving at 12:30am was a bit unnerving although it was a relief someone answered the intercom when I pushed the button.

The rooms were extremely crammed with two bunk beds in each. I had trouble storing my luggage on the limited floor space. The price was hyper inflated for the amenities offered.

We booked this property because it is unique. I mean really, how many 747 airplanes are made into a hotel in the world? We arrived after 1:00am at the airport and found our way to the property very easily. Check in was a breeze, all done by an email received earlier. Our room was clean and the breakfast the next day was basic but good. The rooms do not have their own bathrooms but there were many to share. The outside of the airplane could use a freshening up in terms of new paint.

My wife didn’t like the shared restroom and shower.
They were very very clean, but if you want own separate facilities this may not be for you.

For a single overnight stay it was FUN!!

The Jumbo Stay Hotel is nice and unique. The rooms are small, but that was to be expected and nonetheless they were very comfortable. There was plenty of storage in the room. It was mainly a self-serve hotel as there was little service from reception which was told to us in advance. The facilities were cleaned daily. The breakfast was self-serve as well which was available from 3:00am to 10:00am which is helpful as we had an early flight. The only complaint I will say is that it was snowing the days we were there and the area, particularly the stairs, were icy and not cleared which could have caused an accident. It was a unique experience and I would recommend to those interested.

What wasn't great though was that the Elevator is broken for some time now. And breakfast looked questionable. Also everybody's room keys just sit on the desk when you check in.

The only positive thing I can say about this property is the unique concept of a hotel inside an airplane.

The walls were dirty, the tv didn’t work…and I never received the email regarding access to the cavities as promised in reservation email.

I would also note that I did not receive the room I “clicked” on and was charged more than the listed price. When I addressed the manager about the issue, they stated “that’s an Expedia issue”.

Great novelty but neglected

I really wanted to love this hotel, its a hotel on a plane, how could it not be great?

The room was interesting being in the former engine of the plane. However on close inspection it was quite neglected. The carpeting was coming loose in places, the window stickers peeling, plastics cracked etc.

The bed itself was actually quite comfortable and it wasn't a bad sleep.

The inside of the plane itself was very interesting but there is no staff to make use of purchasing items from their cafe/souvenir shop or to help with check in. You had to message or phone in advance to get the door code etc.

The walkway on the wing had the flooring loose and ripped up in a few places, and the benches were broken and unsafe.

The shared toilets and shower facilities were acceptable but nothing special, at least one of the toilet seats was broken though.

The WiFi also didn't work in my room, it worked on the plane itself but not in my room.

The breakfast was very very basic, it was just a fridge with some cheap cheese and meat, some bread and crackers, a jug of juice and a couple of jars of cereal.

You take your shoes off when entering the plane and there is a leak just inside the door when it rains so I got nice wet socks just after stepping inside, which wasn't fun.

The novelty of the stay is great, and I did actually enjoy my stay for this reason, however the whole place seems quite neglected which is sad as it could easily be put back to great shape.

Truly unique place to stay.

Truly unique place to stay and very convenient if you need to catch early flight or arriving late. Probably wouldn't recommend for a longer stay, but for a night or two it's ok. There are shared bathroom/shower facilities, we only seen 2 of them and one was out of order at the time we stayed. This although haven't effected us much as we arrived late and left early. Breakfast was very minimal, but for a quick bite before the flight was good.

There’s no hotel like it! You have to try at least once. Without desk attendants, getting in to my “engine room” was a little bit like playing Escape Room, following a trail of clues. But I didn’t call for help! Everything was very clean.

Its the second time I stay there. 1st time I stayed in engine #2. This time I stayed in the rear of the plane in the black box suite. I like it because it’s cool! And it’s proximity to the airport. It’s a hybrid between a hotel and a hostel. Not sure about all the rooms, but the black box room is a suite and has its own bathroom shower. Very comfortable but if you’re looking for luxury this may not be the perfect place for you. I like the uniqueness and use it for a place to crash, wake up early and catch my flight the next morning. Bus stop is a couple 100 yards away. Free bus to and fro the terminal. Next time I want to stay in the cockpit or landing gear wheel well room! I’ll try to have my flight leave a little later do I can say that I’ve walked on a wing of a 747 and sat down for a cup o coffee!

Arrived really late. Buses not running so no airport transfer. Taxi drivers don't really want a fare of 2 km at 1 o'clock in the morning! Free Wifi - forget it, they give you a password which does not work which leads to frustration and anger!

Fun place to stay in transit.

The history of the jumbo jet that has been converted is really interesting. Upside: comfy beds, friendly service and includes breakfast. Easy to get back and forth from the airport with a free regular shuttle bus. Very close to Arlanda airport. Cosy and warm, linen and blankets included.

Downside: we needed to change rooms because one of the bunks was broken. The fixtures need a little maintenence.

However, I was never given any information about the shuttle that passes every 15 minutes to the airport and takes you to the hotel. I think they should inform their guests about that before they check in.

Very friendly staff. Simple yet tasty continental breakfast, Swedish-style. Rooms with towels and linens were very clean and crisp. The soundproofing between room and hall could be boosted, a bit noisy which interrupted my sleep. Convenient location when taking an early flight from Arlanda Airport. Easy walking distance to the shuttle bus. Reasonable price for the room. I would stay at Jumbo Hostel again!

Cool place to stay for 1 night

I stayed in the economy single room at Jumbo Stay for the night before my flight out.

Convenient shuttle to and from the airport on 15-minute intervals. It drops you off about 1-2 minutes from the front door (elevator, actually) of the hotel. Reception at the hotel was friendly and efficient.

The room is small, which is what I expected. You're here more for the novelty of it than any type of luxury. If you are traveling with others, you will likely spend time in the common room (or even on the wing deck) because the rooms don't really offer any hang-out space.

The shared baths and showers are clean and adequate. Tip: shower in the handicapped bathroom for extra space.

Nothing in the cafe really appealed to me for dinner so I went to the hotel across the street and ate at their restaurant/bar. That was fine, a short walk though it does involve running across the street.

Breakfast was included, and I simply had cereal and banana, though there were hard boiled eggs and other options.

It's not cheap for what you get, but in my opinion it's totally worth it to say you stayed here 1 night.

I was allocated a room outside the plane cabin, in the wing, nothing in there except a bed, nowhere to sit except on the floor. Room was up a set of metal stairs, to get water, wash or clean teeth or go to the toilet I had to go down these stairs and up another four sets of stairs as the lift was defunct. And what if I needed the toilet in the middle of the night. Receptionist kept telling me the hotel was fully booked to which I replied that I booked some months ago. I also felt very insecure out there on my own. I managed to find somewhere else to spend the night.

Very unique and clean lodging, pleasant walking distance from the airport. A bit limited meal menu so better to shop for dinner at ARN airport and bring it in. Outdated, we wished it was in much better condition. It felt more like a hostel. Our room was the black. The piece near the window was falling appart. The value was not there for the price we paid. We enjoyed the experience of sleeping on an airplane. We appreciated the champagnhe. The plane is well situated, and the bus is a plus. The only thing is need to be update without loosing its caracter.

The free shuttle service was so handy from the airport terminal. My daughter (5) got so exited walking up the gentle hill to the hotel. The staff were friendly at check in and the communal areas were clean. The shower rooms were compact but spacious. The bed was comfortable but the decor within the room was tired and the curtain rail was loose from the wall. Would stay again.

Sleeping in a 747 (dream come true)

We've all had that experience of being on an airplane and so tired that you just want to stretch out on a comfortable bed and fall asleep. At Jumbo Stay, that wish becomes a reality. Gaze out the window (or shut the curtain), lie back under fluffy white covers, and drift off to sleep. Jets are taking off nearby, but this plane is well soundproofed and you won't hear them at all. This plane has showers, bathrooms, and a snack bar at the front desk (not to mention you can walk out on the wing). Sweet dreams!

It's a great experience to stay inside of a plane and sleep comfortably in it. There's really not much around the area, but there's a shuttle that takes you to and from the airport at decent times. We landed past midnight so we had to take a cab. Other than that, it was a pretty cool stay. Would recommend it if you like staying in unique places.

I didn't expect that the room was shared. I didn't understand that from the offer I got. When I go into the room and I saw 4 beds, 2 bunk beds actually, I realized of that then. Also the toilet/bathroom was shared for all of the people in the same floor, almost 40 rooms, I was only inside for a couple of minutes when I woke up and there were waiting 2 or 3 people, if I decided to take a shower instead... pufff... they have to install more bathrooms and/or toilets. And of course, that room wasn't which is showed in the website.

A unique experience

My room was great and clean. Very convenient for an early flight as they provide an early breakfast and it is well connected to the airport. Quite a unique experience. The staff was very kind and professional. The room was very nice and comfortable.

A fun place which is very convenient to rental cars (across the street) all brands, bus service to the terminals every 15 minutes, breakfast from 3am which is great for the early flights, and good service. I expected noise from aircraft on the taxi way but it was absolutely dead quiet.

We stayed one night with my family and my children enjoyed the different atmosphere very close to airport and you can see the flights crossing the flight hotel but you didn’t hear the sound inside the room. Superb.

It's a creative hotel, prices were very reasonable, the breakfast hours were great for travelling, and it was extremely convenient to both car rental and the airport.
