This hotel is wonderful, although our Chinese is no existent we are able to communicate effortlessly. Breakfast is great and would do it again. We plan to stay there every time we visit our kids.

The hotel is in a pretty central location, it’s pretty close to Hopson One mall which has plenty of shopping and dining options. The air conditioning units are abysmal and no matter how low you set it, the temperature in my room was averaged between 21°-23° the six nights I spent there even with the AC set at 17°. Staff are kind however they do not speak any English as advertised. It took an unsuccessful phone call, a visit to the front desk, two translation apps and three employees to answer the question ‘What time does the gym open?’. No smoking signs are place throughout the building however it’s so widespread that I could not only smell smoke in but saw several guests smoking and there are ashtrays throughout the corridors of the hotel that are regularly changed out which seemed very contradictory. It’s half-decent for the price but I would not stay again.

This is a horrible hotel. Mold, dirt, smells so bad. I refrained from using the bathroom because if its smell. Internet connection slow and cuts off every 10 min. Very outdated and very very very old rooms. Smells like an old grandmas house. Do not stay here if you care about your health
And if you are with children...mold is alive here.

wont be staying here again

the wifi was unpredictable, the breakfast buffet was super crowded and the front desk staff not always very helpful. i was not made to feel welcome. only a few staff members speak functional English so be prepared to use google translate to try and be understood. there is next to nothing of interest in walking distance and at rush hour dont expect to wait less than 30 minutes for a taxi or Didi car to show up.

No English. The AC was on in our room first 2 days and we froze. No English staff understood our problem. They came to adjust temp but did not work. We were told our room was not available and sent us to an upgrade in the next building. It was a loft room with shake spiral staircase to the bedroom upstairs. Our luggage was to heavy awkward to bring up. They could not find our room no for dining room and were turned away. No Coffey available! Lobby staff Did not understand request for coffee and sent us to the bar for Coffey. Bar did not open till 11am. Room had 2 Nescafé instant pkgs.

The hotel location is good. - I also found the Nepalese staff there to be fantastic.

I had a few problems.

Firstly, the room carpets and surfaces were not clean. I even stayed in the room while the cleaner came and watched how fast she cleaned without even looking at the carpets or wiping all surfaces.

Secondly, in the breakfast restaurant I kept going to get myself a drink or some food and placing it on the table. The moment I got up to get myself something else - even a spoon, the staff cleaned everything I had just brought away! - Even a full glass of juice and a plate of food! When I told her not to she just laughed and did it again 2 minutes later! - This lead to other guests sitting at the table I had picked and me standing with a plate of food looking for a new empty table! - I asked to talk to a manager and the staff refused.

Lastly, when I checked out I needed to get a taxi to the airport. Apparently ALL the concierge was on lunch at the same time.... The reception called me a taxi, but I had to explain to the taxi driver who could not speak English where I wanted to go. - Usually the concierge does this. Also, reception did not help me with my luggage. - At this time there were no other customers using reception apart from me!

Good value but ...

The hotel is far from the center of activities. We got it for a good rate and the junior suite is spacious, breakfast was good.. Few hotel staff speak English. It was difficult to communicate but the staff tried to be helpful.

Not a good option...

The hotel has terrible lack of cleaning. You could find spots everywhere, mainly on bathroom. I'd have a problem with the electrical appliances and they leave at the phone for more than 30 minutes because hotel staff doesn't speaks English even when the hotel accommodate mainly foreign guests.

The staff was able to respond to a room issue quickly and provided us with satisfactory solutions. Although the issue was unpleasant, it was dealt with soon enough and we are still quite happy with this hotel.

Good breakfast but bring Mosquito Repellent

Maybe they just liked British meat, but my room had many moquitos and I foolishly did not have any protection spray. The airconditioning was noisy and made sleep challenging.

For the price though this is a pretty good hotel and the breakfast was pleasing - great choice and decent quality.

Clean and courteous staff and restaurant next to hotel is good (but they dont speak English so be aware of this).

Maybe there are better options for the price so not sure I'd recommend as the location is not so great either. That said its not a bad hotel - good breakfast, clean room and good facilities so one to consider.

Fantastic hotel.... Terrible leisure facilities

The hotel rooms were fantastic ... We stayed in a junior suite for 12 nights ..lovely and quiet . near the subway and far enough out of the city to be quiet and enjoy the locals . breakfast was fantastic and plenty on offer . no staff speak English . the only problem we had was the leisure facilities ... The pool was not heated I complained 3 times and was told the turn it off when the hotel is quiet . the huge hot tub is in the men's changing rooms and has been bone dry empty for a long time . the sauna is usable but only if you go down and get the staff to turn it on 40 minutes before you need it . overall disappointed with the leisure as this is the reason we booked this hotel over other more central ones . another tip is the small shop across the road ... Buy bottles of soda on your way into the city for 30p or to take into your room at the end of the night !

Hotel is quite outdated. Hygiene is not good. Bathroom is moldy. Even though the hotel is non-smoking (as all hotels are mandated in Beijing), the towels smelled like smoke. Check out (even after 9AM) was long and slow. My company recently moved into this business district but I will not come back on my next business trip. Not really what I expected from an internationally branded hotel

Very bad experience. Staff didn't speak any foreign language other than a handful words of English. Not helpful at all. Room heating didn't work properly, had 27 degrees Celsius in my room and couldn't adjust nor switch it off. Housekeeping \"solved\" the problem with an additional aircondition that they put in the room. What a bad idea. Finally they charged me for juices from the mini bar even though I didn't used it all (being a Diabetic I only drink water). Since nobody was able to talk English I wasn't able to complain accordingly. Did cost me $16 for some juice I never had...

I thought this hotel was very nice. Room was always well cleaned, amenities were very nice too. The staff spoke little English but a few knew enough to get me through things. Def will use this hotel again if I come back to Beijing. Just FYI the walk to the closest metro is 10-15 mins. This is the only thing I wasn't a fan about. But it still doesn't offset the quality of the hotel

Reasonable, but not Mercure standard

Stayed for two nights, chosen because it was close to where I had to be for business. Room was spacious, but not cleaned well (found rubbish under the sofachair,very dusty on glass shelves etc). Restaurant service mediocre, not helped by non-english speaking staff. All in all an OK experience, but less than I would have expected from the Mercure chain. Hotel is on a relatively quiet street, (good!), but room was niet soundproofed enough for noisy guests yelling in the hallway late at night.

Interesting experience

Nice hotel for the price. A little off the beaten path, but not that bad. It has a karaoke room, a nice pool, a decent restaurant, and cozy rooms. Overall, the staff was nice and courteous, but at least two of the the English speaking concierges were awful...

I was able to book this hotel for only $60 something per night. with this price, this hotel is great. the only thing is that it is not close to a subway station. So, I need to take taxi to work; taxi is really hard to get one during rush hour.

Striving for mediocrity

I found this hotel very mediocre and the staff didn't have the heart in the job. It is rather run down and neglected with limited breakfast buffet which was never topped up so if you arrive after 8,00 you have a few scraps to choose from.
I won't stay there again

I was very pleased with the Hotel and the friendliness of the staff. They were very kind, obliging, courteous and helped me very efficiently when I required assistance. The rooms are spacious and well appointed and very clean. I would gladly recommend the Mercure Beijing Downtown to anyone.

Position? Not this one

This was our Tour hotel but I booked in 4 days early by myself. Taxis for everything as the subway 1/2 hour walk. Just too hard. Obviously the Tour operator gets a good rate because of position. See other comments below. It is just fine to stay but I really couldn't recommend as once our organised Tour finished, we stayed at an older hotel near to Tianamen Square that was cheaper and fantastic position for buses, subway and so much else.

Affordable 4 star for leisure visit to Beijing

The service was good. The breakfast was good. The room was between 3 star and 4 star, but presumably a fully 4 star room would push the rates up. The foyer and dining room were more 4 star. The hotel was reasonably close to the main large business district but some distance from the main tourist attractions in this very large city.

Le personnel ne parle pas anglais et il n'y a pas de navette pour l'aéroport comme indiqué. L'hôtel est assez vieillissant et bruyant.

매번 출장 시 해당호텔을 이용하는데 이번에는 1층을 이용했습니다. 1층이라 다소 냄새가 좀 있었던거 같은데 24시간 환풍을 해놓으면 잠을자는데 무리는 없습니다.
짐이 많아서 1층으로 배려해주고 서비스는 좋습니다.

인근에 출장 차 해당 호텔에 숙박을 했는데 번화가가 아니라 쇼핑이나 관광으로는 조금 불편함이 있지만, 그 반대로 호텔 주변이 조용해 매우 좋았습니다. 관광이 아니라면 추천 드립니다.
호텔 내부도 깔끔합니다.

Ganz schlimm fand ich, dass die Mitarbeiter der Reception schlecht bis gar nicht englisch sotechen können. Sehr freundlich waren sie auch nicht. Das Zimmer war sehr schmutzig und ich und meine beiden Kinder hatten nur zwei Betten. Der Pick up Service mit 700 RMB ist im Gegensatz zum Taxi reine Abzocke. Der Pool ist megaklein und es hat gerade mal drei Liegen. Ich würde nie mehr in dieses Hotel buchen.

Le service était mauvais : personne ne parlait anglais dans l'hôtel. Le principal problème venait de la propreté. Des cafards et autres insectes dans ma chambre. Des tas de poussières sous le lit. C'est inacceptable!
