The property is situated beside a large lake which is very nice, the area lends itself to walkers and cyclists alike.

No outlets in room to charge your phone. No coffee machine in room. But the decor was lovely and classy.
The breakfast was underwhelming no cheese eggs or meat. However the croissants were huge and amazing.
The woman who checked me in was kind and accommodating. But the male staff at breakfast was standoffish and not warm or welcoming. The grounds could use some more landscaping befitting of a chateau.

Good value in Bourges

Attractive 19 century chateau with good parking on site. But the car park covering is gravel and clay which is very messy when wet. The room while spacious was an obvious and not very attractive carve up or a grand room. Excellent and very helpful and friendly receptionist. Very reasonable price. Would stay again.

One of our best stays ever. Mgr Florien picked us up when we could not find the house. Carried our bags upstairs. We got an upgrade to the best room. It was sensational! Booked & recommended a restaurant in Carassonne. An incredible breakfast (11 diff French cheeses!). Incredibly helpful with local knowledge. A chateau size property; lawns, pool. A beautfilly restored chapel. We HAVE to come back. Six stars!!

I would choose this hotel again

Great choice for a stopover en route to catch ferry at the end of our holiday. Staff were incredibly helpful and spoke excellent English. Beautiful surroundings, plenty of parking and spacious room with a waterside view. Exactly what we needed at the end of long day of driving. Breakfast in the morning was very good. I would choose Château de Lazenay again.

Beautiful quiet locarion just a short drive into the centre of Bourges. Staff were very helpfull and polite. Breakfast could be improved by offering an English breakfast option or even some fresh fruit.

Hotel is on a man made lake 10-15 mins driving from the city center. We had a room in the attic which was decently sized but there is a significant roof slant. The bathroom is pretty spacious but the shower is a small closet. WiFi worked pretty well. We never used the kitchenette but there were pots/pans and byo utensils etc. An employee did offer us the use of glasses for our wine. Breakfast was a very simple offering of croissants, cereal, yogurt, and assorted drink options. There was plenty of parking. There are some nice trails for walking/running/biking around the lake.

This was the perfect place to be on Bastille Day. The fireworks were right on the water near the hotel! The room was nice and they brought an extra bed for my daughter. Since the stairs were steep, we only brought up what we needed. The hostess was so sweet and always making sure we were happy. Loved this little gem.

A great hotel, with real character.

We were delighted with our choice of hotel for a stopover on our way to the South of France. This converted chateaux has real character. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We have two dogs, and originally chose the hotel because they allow dogs (for an extra € 5 pdpn). There is a huge lake with walks around immediately adjacent to the hotel – ideal for dog-walking. We cooked for ourselves in the evening – the room has a microwave and hobs, and we were provided with crockery and cutlery (and a corkscrew!) by the hotel. The room itself was very comfortable, with large, tall windows opening onto the lawn and lake – a great view. Bathroom was large and plenty of hot water! Close to the motorway, this hotel offers tremendous value for money – and is so much better than the budget hotel-chain alternatives. What’s not to like? Thoroughly recommended!

The gentleman who welcomed us at the reception was very helpful and pleasant. Had a good sense of humour. Chateau is in a lovely setting, it is a wee bit out of town but there is a bar/brassiere 15mins walk away. Kitchenette is very basic and there are no utensils but there were saucepans and a microwave. There was no lift and we were on the second floor but it was good exercise for us.

Great place to stay in Bourge!~

Very cute hotel at a reasonable price. Large room and bathroom, with small cooking area. If you are not able to climb stairs, this is not for you. no elevator. The hotel staff was suburb. Mary- Lene was awesome! We asked for suggestions to some shops and she was spot on with her recommendations. She even let us know about the out door market and gave us directions and was attentive to our every need. Hotel is 10 minutes outside of town, with a car, easy to reach.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, and would stay here again.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself was just a pain, in more ways than one. I wasn't told there was no elevator, and my room was on the top floor, up 3 flights of stairs in a narrow stairwell. I had two very heavy bags, and I had to carry them up and down the stairs. It was rather dangerous actually, I almost fell. The bed was very uncomfortable, the shower ran out of hot water very, very fast, and the room smelled like moth balls. As an added frustration, the wifi did not work well either. Overall, I would not stay here again.

Room was basic but comfortable. You needed to drive to the Center of town. We used it as a half way stopover on our way to Dijon, so we didn't have a need for much more. Take note there are only stairs up to the rooms so be prepared to carry your luggage.

Overnight stop on our journey home from the Herault. We have two largish dogs and need to find somewhere with suitable recreational areas. It was a former Chateau located on the outskirts in a very quiet area.The grounds were large, well away from the small feeder road and traffic free. There were nice lawns and mature trees and these opened out onto a large park and lake that was very picturesque and was excellent for walking the dogs. The room was very pleasant and the small kitchenette was a boon as we were able to rustle up an evening meal rather than have the hassle of going out to try and find a restaurant. Breakfast was a bit limited but having said that was cheaper than many of the rivals. Overall a very pleasant stay.

We stayed overnight on return from Spain. Staff were very pleasant. Rooms were fairly basic but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was continental only but first class. Immaculate dining room, nice croissants and pastries and a lovely view over the grounds. Staff were very helpful and chatty.

This hotel was very easy to find and was in a lovely peaceful location. The lady on reception,Francesca, was extremely helpful, explaining how the door worked, giving directions and getting cups, plates and utensils which we needed for our room. The room was a large size with a good size bathroom and large shower cubicle with reasonably powerful shower. There was a small kitchen in the room with fridge, hot plate and microwave all of which proved very useful. The hotel is in a peaceful location on a large lake which has a paved track around it. Lots of people were walking, running or sailing here. The main centre is 4km away with plenty of bars and restaurants and only 1km away was a large supermarket with petrol station and around the corner a large, modern Lidl.

We arrived mid evening hot and thirsty after a long drive and no where to get a drink not even a bottle of water, so ok if you go well prepared and just want a room to sleep in

Lovely, but bring your own cups!

This is a beautiful chateau, and the apartments are very comfortable and clean. We unfortunately arrived very late due to delays at the channel tunnel. I rang during the afternoon, and though I tried my best French, the manager answered me in English and said it was no problem, He gave me a code for the main door, and directions to find the apartment. Very helpful and reassuring. Great studio apartment, but the only awkward thing was that no cups, crockery or cutlery are provided. I managed to borrow two cups from the dining room, and boiled water in the saucepan provided for a hot drink. We only stayed one night, so it wasn't really a problem. We could have taken the breakfast offered, but we had some food with us and wanted to get on the road again.

We spent one night here, sort of passing through. Bourges is a beautiful town. A very lovely hotel right next to a nice lake, open parkland and a walking/jogging path. The location is convenient to major highways and short drive into central Bourges. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The room had a kitchenette with microwave, heating elements and sink. Decent Wi-Fi service is included. Free parking is included. Very quiet sleep.

1st Time in France

I loved this hotel. The rooms were spacious and decor was lovely. I wish we had stayed longer. I would have liked to have spent more time in the area and walked the path behind the hotel. I found the rates to be very reasonable, the location great, and the hotel staff to be warm and welcoming.

We were so surprised to find such a lovely room (larger than some others we stayed at this visit) and a lake view from the window at such a reasonable price. Very clean as well. Provided good directions to free parking in the medieval town (which we did in the evening, so maybe it wasn't free in the day, but I think it was).

Good value French charm with a modern twist

Staying at this hotel is rather like an Ibis but with traditional French charm in a renovated château rather than the IKEA look.It was clean and had the benefit of a small kitchenette. There seemed to be only one receptionist, who did everything from check you in to serve the breakfast but it was pretty well organised despite this.If you need a hair-dryer, plates, mugs, cutlery etc, you collect them from the reception. I found the bed a little too firm but we had the basic room (Charme) ...maybe they upgrade the mattress? The position is lovely, right on the river and perfect for a stroll before breakfast. Overall, good value at 65 euro.

Booked for a premier room as we were travelling with an infant. However, on arrival we were told we had been downgraded and were presented with a very hot, cramped attic room. We were then expected to pay the full charge for the premier room! However, the staff were friendly and the bed comfortable, so apart from the initial disappointment we managed to get some sleep!! Breakfast was very basic (cereal and coffee, with some fruit and croissants too) and not really worth the extra charge that was made for it. The building however was charming, being an old large country house and the location with it backing onto the lake was very pleasant. It's also on the outskirts of the town and so there was no traffic noise to disturb you during the night. Just beware of them downgrading you, or \"loosing\" your booking, as they did with the people we were travelling with!

Lovely place but needs some TLC

We stayed her on 2 separate nights at the start and end of our holiday - the staff ( 2 ladies) are lovely and can't do enough for you but the room was just ok though very clean. There was a nasty drain smell in the room which I brought to the attention of the lady on reception as we checked out the first time. We were in the same room second time around and the when we walked in the windows were wide open which I later realised was a way of getting rid of the smell as this built up again as soon as we closed the windows.

Great for a night or two

We had a very pleasant stay here, Comfortable room, not luxurious but good for one night. There was a fridge in the room which was great and very useful. There was also a hot plate but no tableware or cooking items but this did not pose a problem for us. We had to drive into Bourges for a meal but it is close by, very pretty and has a variety of places to eat. We'll be back again.

This chateau in the suburbs

This chateau is conveniently situated south of Bourges centre, surrounded by residences but overlooking a pleasant lake. It has been renovated to provide unpretentious and modest accommodation. Our room included a kitchenette which was useful on the Sunday we arrived when few restaurants were open. Cutlery and plates have to be requested from the staff. The staff are friendly and helpful.
However, the shower holder was broken and the basin had a crack in it; neither seemed new problems but when we mentioned the shower to the staff member, he responded by commenting that his was a recurring problem. Shame such a small but irritating problem it cannot be fixed effectively.

Lovely building outside of Bourges. Situated next to lake which unfortunately we did not have time to walk along. Manager helpfully arranged taxi to take us into town to restaurant, although it cost €20 - but definitely worth seeing the old houses, cathedral and fountains.Timbered bedroom in hotel was charismatic but bit dark. Good breakfast for €8. Would definitely recommend.

Bourges family room

The Chateau is now surrounded by modern housing and backs on to the lake with running track and leisure facilities. It is some five minutes drive from the centre of Bourges town but it is not, with a family, a walk-able distance for dinner.We had a triple room that had a small \"kitchenette\" which had no utensils or crockery with it or kettle. Perhaps you need to ask?It was comfortable and very quiet and beds, linen and towels were of a good standard. Fine for a stop off but perhaps not great for a prolonged family stay.

A lovely surprise for a last minute booking

Our stay at this Chateau was delightful. The rooms were spotless and the bathroom top quality. We did not have breakfast as we needed an early start, so I cannot provide feedback here. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely stay again. Might be a bit hard without a car to get to - but such value for money if you can. WIFI good, fast and free!

We stayed at chateau lazenay on our way to the languedoc. We have a miniature schnauzer and they are pet friendly. We were so pleased that they send you a welcome email and also contacted us whilst we were on our journey to them making sure we would arrive in time to be welcomed. The breakfast was great and worth the 8 euros. It is in a quiet area and right by a lake to walk the dog and ourselves after a long journey. Our only reason to not rate it 5 overall is that we could not get a hot drink after our arrival at 8.20 pm until the morning. It would have made such a difference to us to be able to get a nice coffee or make one in our lovely room. Our room was really clean, shower was strong, linen and towels all smelt fresh and newly laundered. We will definitely stay again and recommend it to our friends.

We had a very comfortable overnight stay in Chateau Lazenay on our way home from the south of France. We were made very welcome, the owner was helpful, informative with good local knowledge. It's always preferable to stay in a charming old building a little removed from the motorway (and its usual clutter of faceless new-builds) and to get a room in one for such a reasonable price. The fact that there is no lift is a very small price to pay. It's the kind of place where you aren't itching to get on the road again early next morning, but wouldn't mind staying another night.

A very friendly and helpful welcome, this was a continual theme with all of the staff. Lovely lakeside location close to the centre of Bourges. Nice room and a reasonably priced continental breakfast on offer. Overall excellent value for money.

Nice Chateau Experience

Cool room. Great breeze coming off the lake. Short easy drive to the city (10 minutes in a car). Pretty unique.

Warnings: Shower was broken, scalding hot water, also went all over the floor, Breakfast isn't free. Other than these two things, it was great.

We enjoyed our stay in Bourge and the Lake so close to the Chateau was a great bonus, a place to stretch your legs. Well recommended. Only one small point just for us, the beds were hard. Have already recommended this place to friends.

The hotel Château De Lazenay - Résidence Hôtel De Charme was very chic. It was rated as a 2 star hotel but could easily have been hu=igher. The furnishings were very French and the room was very large and clean. Very basic but comfortable. It even had a small cooking area with fridge but no utensils apart from a couple of pans - but useful if you needed it. Bathroom was lovely but shower head needed fixing as when the shower was switched on water sprayed everywhere - literally!! We spent quite a while soaking it all up with towels so not the best, but when we mentioned it to the staff the following day they were pretty good. Though you could open large windows in the room to get air in because the hotel was by a large lake the were trillions of mosquitoes - pretty massive they were as well so take mossy killer else you'll have to keep the windows shut and will literally melt away in your sleep as it's SO hot - trust me we know!!!! No air con or fans, which was a shame as if they had one of these it would have been a much pleasanter stay. Breakfast was lovely but you do have to pay extra. We payed 8 euros each and it was pretty good. All in all I would definitley say that it was a beautiful place to stay and the staff were very friendly and helpful. 8 out of 10

Not expensive but very good

Bourges is almost exactly halfway betwenn Calais and the Languedoc Coast so Chateau de Lazenay is ideally located for a stop-over. This is a small chateau that has been converted into a hotel offering comfortable rooms with basic cooking facilities. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are clean and well designed. Note that the hotel does not have a full restaurant although there is a very good one within a short drive. We have stayed at Chateau de Lazenay twice in the last three years and would not hesitate to stay there again in the future.

An interesting option

I selected the chateau as I felt I wanted a different experience. I arrived Sunday afternoon after traveling overnight from the US and driving three more hours to Bourges. It was easy to find with GPS. The door was locked and it took a bit of shouting to russle up someone, but one I did everthing worked fine. It was comfortable and very clean. I'd certainly stay here again. The value for the money is quite good.

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour dans cet hôtel que nous recommanderons autour de nous.
La chambre confortable avec kitchenette et une salle de bain fonctionnelle.
Le personnel est très à l'écoute
L'accueil chaleureux
Le cadre du lieu est sympathique proche du lac où l'on peut se promener.
L'hôtel situé proche de Bourges est dans un environnement calme.
Les petits déjeuners simples mais copieux (à la française !)

Un accueil tout en convivialité, un environnement très calme, la chambre spacieuse et irreprochable d'un point de vue de la propreté et des équipements.
On m'a proposé un petit plateau avec un plat préparé local pour le soir à très bon prix.

Château simple, style épuré, accueil sympathique et environnement détente (étang, oiseaux, canards, cygnes), bucolique. Un peu loin du centre ville et des options de restauration alentours (véhicule nécessaire)
