Right off the motorway - stop over.

Decent one night stay on our way to Barcelona. It is a lot nicer on the inside than what the outside and location looks like. Right off the motorway and within a light industrial area, which is fine. We didn’t use the pool, breakfast was great and rooms standard Novotel, which is good. People helpful and polite.

We booked due to previously good experiences with the Novotel brand. The hotel is excellent, there is a good pool, parking and loads of charging points for electric vehicles. The rooms are good. Our only problem was the service from the restaurant staff which slightly spoilt our stay. Having booked for 2 adults and 2 children on a half board basis in the restaurant we found out this didn't include the children at this point. Not a huge problem on its own but a surprise. There was a buffet starter option and 3 main courses on offer which were great, however my daughter aged 13 was disappointed she had to have this and wasn't allowed to order from the children menu which my 11 year old son was pleased to order from. She is 13 so arguably this is understandable but it was disappointing for her to have to wait (with the adults) over an hour for her main course to arrive whilst the children course arrived for the 11 year old almost immediately. In isolation none of these things would have been a big factor if it not for the fact we were ignored by the significant number of staff in the restaurant for long periods of time who seemed to find other things to occupy themselves with. Another couple we spoke to who joined later were having smiler issues with the service. There seemed no-one appropriate to speak to in the evening so we spoke to the reception staff on check out, the lady merely smiled at us and again offered no apology.

Horrendous noise and a bit dated - staff lovely.

Staff were pleasant and helpful especially when called at 00.40 to complain about the terrible noise coming from the children's play area. Not very amusing when you've just driven 400 miles with 300 ahead of you the next morning. Receptionist was very apologetic and having heard the reception phone ringing again I assume (rightly or wrongly) that other guests were complaining. I strongly suggest that this area is closed at 22.30.
Towels and bedding spotless as usual but the rooms and bathrooms are in desperate need of refurbishment.
Secure car park with plenty of spaces.

Good facilities for children

We stopped here as a family on our way back from Spain, the hotel was surprisingly geared to children with heated outdoor pool, a play area, a games console section, football table and children's menu in the restaurant which all went down well with our 10 year old daughter.

Overall no complaints, in my opinion the rooms, especially bathrooms are dated for a 4* standard but other facilities made up for this.

Ok Hotel for travellers stopping over but thats it

I stayed here on my way to Spain and following a day driving. It's location is easy access from the motorway and they have plenty of parking however the positives end there.

The Hotel needs an upgrade. The building is old fashioned, felt like an old hospital and in the hallways there was a funny smell. I would not stay here again, although it served its purpose. A place to crash after a long drive.

Everything was OK. The swimming pool was a little \"tired\" with the paving at one end coming away from the pool. They were short staffed, which meant waiting at an empty bar for quite a few minutes to be served, although the staff that were there were pleasant and helpful.

This was a perfect stopover hotel on the way home from the Med. The surrounding area is uninspiring its on an industrial estate right by the motorway. But it was very easy to get to from the autoroute and there was no noise of the road in the rooms. It was very clean and comfortable, the restaurant food was good and the staff were friendly. It was surrounded by budget hotels with no facilities and those guests had to go into Bourges to eat. I'm glad we paid a little extra to have everything we needed so we could rest after a long drive and get a good nights sleep before another long day in the car. The kids loved having the pool to burn off some energy in.

The Novotel brand is always reliable and you know what you're going to get before you get there: the rooms are clean, air-conditioned, spacious and the beds are large and give a good night's sleep. The location for this one is a bit tricky to get to - you can see it from the highway, but the route to it is not the easiest! Very disappointed on second stay

We have used this hotel and even went on a slight detour on our journey to return there but never again.

The beds now are like sleeping on concrete, both my husband and I woke repeatedly during the night and in the morning have very stiff backs - not ideal for starting a long days drive.

But the most disappointing and disgusting thing of all was the Dining room. Although the food was acceptable the carpet was quite heavily stained - but the worse thing was that not only was a dog in the dining room where everyone was eating - but that it was a very large Great Dane who not only had his head slobbering on the table but was licking and eating from the plates on the table.

I have never seen anything so unhygenic in any hotel every it was absolutely disgusting and put us off our meal. Rather than ask the diners not to let the dog do that the staff took photos!!!!! The table was only lightly cleaned as all the others and no special treatment given to clean it where the dog had been,

When I mentioned it the next morning I was informed that guests were allowed to have dogs stay and when I queried that the dog was in the dining room and eating off of the table I was again informed that this was allowed.

I am sorry Novotel Bourges but in future we will be giving you a miss I do not ever wish to share my dining experience with dogs of any size or shape.

One very disappointed customer,

Hotel Novotel near Bourges France

This hotel is ok if you are just travelling down the road and need a place to sleep. There is nothing around this hotel but freeways. the service in the dining room was very poor, I could not get anyone to seat me for dinner. When I decided to just order room service for dinner, the phone system was not working and I had to go to the receptionist to order dinner. The food was good and the breakfast buffet was a little expensive for the type of food being served. The room was clean but the funiture upholstery and carpeting were stained and worn. depends who you speak to.

We stayed one night intending to break our journey north, we decided to avoid the weather in England and stay in France a few more days. The first room was fine, usual Novotel room. We had to move rooms for the extra nights, this was into a four person family room (the grandparents had to go back). The outside temperature was hot ( this is why we chose an air conditioned hotel). The second night was hot and uncomfortable but not unbearable. I asked during the day if it was possible to adjust the temperature in the room as it was rather hot. I was told not a probelm. Later our room was hotter, asked again same young lady & was told it is very hot outside today, but she will try.
We all had showers before bed and at 11.00 the children were still awake, I had to keep spraying them with magicool. They were still bright pink. By 12.00 my husband was standing against the wall to cool off and i had another shower this was ridiculous. I went downstairs and told the night receptionist that we couldnt sleep because it was too hot. He instantly gave us another room. Moved rooms at 12.30 this one was cool as soon as i put the children in bed they curled up and went to sleep. I should have insisted someone come up to the room, and in future I will be far more persistent. But I was on holiday! Oh and it was on the 3rd floor and 28 degrees outside opening the window made it noisy and much worse.

Chambre vetuste, mobilier vieux, canapé lit non confortable.
