Room is nice and clean, bathroom is small, and shower is not that great, but fine for a one night stay. Our key didn't work the first time, so we had to trudge back down to request for a new key. Nothing dramatic, just a slight annoyance. Breakfast tastes fine, but not really worth €20/person in my opinion, and staff was disinterested. Apart from that, as a place to stop for 1 night, it's fine, but not if you want to explore the area for a few nights.

Hotel itself is fine, nice garden. Not the greatest walk into the town but less than 10 mins.

Ok for one night

Nice building with nice staff. Room was very small but fine for one night. Bathroom needs updating. Toilet bowl full of limescale. I would have asked to move rooms if we had been staying longer.

Convenient location opposite a beautiful public park and walking distance to the cathedral and town centre.

Onsite parking is a bonus.

We ate in the restaurant was truly dreadful and to be avoided.

It was a stop-over on the way back to Paris. Only issues: the windows are too small and the heating was too much. When we opened the windows to let in some fresh air, the noise from the street was disruptive.
Great bathroom products: Nuxe.
Great space for breakfast in the chapel of rhis ancient abbey turned hotel.

We use Accor hotels all the time, This time I couldnt get onto the new AllAccor site so used Expedia.

What is clear is that while the price for a standard room is similar, the hotel keep their very worst rooms for booking through Expedia,

tiny room , I happened to have a laser measure with me and it was 13m2. ordinary double bed, small by accor standards, very hard bed and awful pillows, right on the road with no ac..

RESULT, no sleep.

Also no facilities above those expected at a 3* hotel

unacceptable and not why I booked a 4 star(in therory) hotel

Perfect stay in Hotel de Bourbon

This is a beautiful old building that has been very stylishly converted from an old abbey. It has a lovely atmosphere and rooms are very comfortable with excellent beds and beddings. Bathroom a tadge small but cleanliness and modernness can’t be faulted. Great that the toilet is separate and privacy is good. The room has a fridge, safe & tea and coffee making facilities. Buffet breakfast served in the gorgeous dining hall, was fresh, varied and satisfactory, very nice coffee served from a machine that offers latte, cappuccino etc. A really helpful reception lady got me some fresh milk to make tea in the room which was really kind, as hotels mostly offer no milk or the tiny milk capsules that are not sufficient. It’s a shame mercure only offer paper cups in the rooms, and not pottery, especially as it is not a budget hotel. There is a decent gym which my son used. Had dinner in the evening, three courses for €29 or a’la Carte menu which is not hugely expensive. The food is typically French and nicely served. Waiters were helpful and offered an english menu to help with translation. Pretty outside garden/patio to sit and enjoy a drink or some had breakfast there.

Refined, relaxing and quite practical. Nice friendly service. Actually booked 2 prestige rooms but not quite on parity for some reason. Room 303 much better than 301as had extra shower plus electronic air conditioning & more room etc… Hotel bar closed I think a bit too early for a Saturday night too. Breakfast on the terrace was a delight with great service. Bourge is a lovely city.

A beautiful hotel in an elegant building but has all the modern features we demand nowadays.The staff at check in were exceptional . Perfectl location for the centre of Bourges. Breakfast had lots of choice and particularly liked the scrambled eggs. We had one evening meal which was good , my only critiscm was that we felt rushed between the courses not relaxed. Get rid of the boards and have a table menu ,as the staff seemed stressed having to carry the blackboard from table to table. Food was excellent .

A town worthy of a special visit

Room good, breakfast great, dinner impossible to reserve and no service on Sunday.
Hotel has a magnificent dining room created from the old monastery 4 stories high. Very popular with the locals so should have reserved a table days before arriving.
Staff very helpful and pleasant helped us make reservations in the town which was very hit or miss.
Lovely gardens across the street well worth a stroll, the old town is charming and the cathedral wonderfull.

A charming hotel with excellent staff

The hotel was in a very attractive converted former monastery opposite beautiful municipal gardens which were a delight to walk through on an early spring day when nothing was yet in leaf. We had delicious meals in the restaurant and had excellent service from receptionists, barman and waiters in the restaurant. The room was attractive and very well kept. We liked this place so much that we have already booked to come back in June.

A mixture of good and bad

Strange place - restaurant seems to be having an admin war with hotel. No service to outside terrace tables unless forced! Staff seemed more concerned with their internal matters than providing good service. Food in the Michelin \"bib\" restaurant frankly poor - tough Charolais entrecote, but restaurant facility quite stunning.
Room had cooling in air con disabled. Stayed 2 nights but complimentary water provided for 1 night only. Paper cups and instant coffee. Plastic water cups not replaced though used on first night. Can't fault breakfasts. Before our meal which we booked at reception, we went to the bar to order Campari-sodas. There were no bar staff, so we ordered it in the restaurant and said we would be outside on the terrace. Eventually the receptionist appeared and asked whether we had ordered drinks. We were told that the restaurant was separate from the hotel and the order would (now) be made at the bar. Campari’s arrived with 2 bottles of tonic water and a bowl of crisps. The tonic waters were sent back. She returned with 2 bottles of lemonade. We rejected these and the crisps which we since discovered were stale and at last 2 bottles of Perrier were provided – not soda but acceptable. 2 small bowls of olives were provided in lieu of the stale crisps. By now we were late for our table booking so took the aperitifs to the restaurant where we were interrogated about their origin. “We can’t charge these to your room”.

Lovely hotel in magnificent building. Charming and helpful reception. Very comfortable and quiet room. Excellent parking. Short walk to new shopping centre with everything next to lovely part of the historic old town. The only slight disappointment was with the (independent) restaurant, operating in the magnificent setting of the old abbey. The food was basically good but they seriously overcooked two otherwise great steaks. The chef should better supervise the pass.

Well-maintained Hôtel Close to Town Center

We have stayed here many times. The staff is always very friendly, and all of receptionists speak English. The hotel is well-maintained, clean, and air-conditioned. It is close to the attractions in the town. Parking is plentiful and free.

Our only disappointment is that the excellent restaurant, Abbaye St. Ambroix, has closed, and the space has been taken over by an outside company. It is no longer the elegant space that it was previously. Because of that, breakfast also is now served in a small room and not in the dining room.

A mixed bag - request a room in the modern area

The hotel is in a more or less industrial area and is in a city which is away from the tourist areas of France. I think it is more frequented by business travelers. As a result, the level of English-speaking was lower than at many hotels where we stayed on this trip. They have a nice restaurant. The hotel is obviously built into a ruin from an old castle. The older rooms are small and very dated. The more modern rooms are much larger and nicer.

We spent two days in Bourges when we went to France to pick up our daughter after her student exchange. Bourges is a beautiful quaint city and the hotel was lovely. It is close to many attractions and close to the train station. Beautiful gardens right across the street. The staff was very kind and accomodating. The Jr Suite was perfect for my husband daughter and I. We also stayed in a smaller room one night. It suited our needs!

Great looking building, and fine facilities

We arrived very late and left early morning so we didn't get to take full advantage of the hotel: but what we did do and saw was very good - we later discovered a fine formal garden just across the road, and a really good local Italian restaurant. The room was very comfortable with a good bed, nice sheets and towels and the staff were very pleasant. The hotel looks very grand and at first impression appears on the wrong side of town - but that couldn't be further from the truth! The location is quiet, with wide roads around it, good parking in the grounds or on the street, easy to find and very convenient for visiting the old town pedestrian areas. Will definitely use again.

M. Le Directeur was present but totally ignored us.

Superior Bedroom: perfectly acceptable with comfortable bed

Bathroom: Good assortment of freebies. Clean. Even a set of
bathroom scales (albeit with flat battery).

Dinner: A sad experience.
Maitre d' ignored us.
Waiting staff friendly but amateurish.

Apero: G&T perfectly fine.

Starters: Salmon canneloni - straight from the fridge - tasteless and solid

Mains A - Fish called \"Carrelet\" (Larousse defines as \"Plaice\") described by
waitress as \"like Rouget\" (Red Mullet).
Tasteless, unseasoned slab of grey fish served on a pretty
tasteless bed of risotto. Had to go and hunt for salt and pepper
(no waiters present) to try and give it some taste. Awful.

Mains B - \"Confit d'Oie \" served with \"Pommes de Terre confit\"
Reality: a slab of overbaked, dry goose served with five golf ball
sized bullets of re-heated mashed potatoes lightly fried. Dreadful.

Impression: A tired chef working to a tight budget set by a director more interested
in the accounts than his guests.

Wines: Good choice at reasonable prices

Overall: More than 50 cars in the car park but only four tables taken in the large
dining room seems to sum it up nicely. Good hotel, shame about the food.

have stayed at this hotel before and found it quite good, staff efficient and professional. Our room this trip was on the 3rd floor, under the eaves. Noted that the ceiling of the hall was slanted when getting off the elevator and so was the ceiling in our room which made it a little smaller than other rooms in the hotel. But this was to be expected given the discounted rate we booked at. Breakfast, however, was not as extensive as in past years, service not quite as efficient and definitely o longer a good value. Sometimes busloads of tour groups book the hotel, which can stress the breakfast staff who take a while to recover.

Very nice hotel - very friendly staff. Delicious if slightly expensive breakfast. Our bedroom had everything we needed - not large but quite large enough and very quiet.

It's a perfect location, staff were very helpful and the rooms clean and of course to the Paris hotel standards. Best sleep I had had after traveling in France for 25 days.

We had a non-smoking room but there was a strong smell of smoke when we checked in. The toilet seat was chipped in a way that made it difficult to be sure it could be properly cleaned. Room furniture was shabby. Nice garden and good parking. Bar service in the garden very poor. We were unable to have dinner as the restaurant was fully booked when we arrived at 6pm.

Great hotel

Our second stay was as pleasant as the first. Lovely big room, great bathroom with toiletries provided and very friendly staff. Recommend the express breakfast in the bar which is only 8 euros for a pot of coffee each, OJ, and four croissants or similar. Excellent hotel.

Vey pleasant hotel to research Bourges

We arrived to one night only but we were surprised by cleanness of the room and the service with a smile. I would recommend it to everyone for 1-2 nights.

Parking slot is big enough, so it's a plus for these traveling with cars. I would recommend restaurant Le Bourbonnoux in the old city to try real french cuisine.

Great Hotel

Having stayed in Mercure's before we hoped that we would be onto a safe bet here. We were not disappointed. The initial response was WOW. The staff were all very efficient and helpful and friendly. We only had a standard room, but it was very comfortable and clean and the bed was very comfy. The only down side was that the meals were a little pricey, but the hotel is only a 10 minute stroll (at the most) from the centre of Bourges and there are plenty of restaurants and bars. All in all a lovely hotel and a great place to stay.
