Rooms not available!

Had two rooms booked for four adults. Turned up to check in and only one room available and hotel now fully booked. Unhelpful and took our tourist tax even though we couldn’t stay there. Not happy! Lovely Novotel next door where we had an excellent meal

Poor wi-fi and lots of road noise

Stayed many times with the group, this one is the poorest we have experienced. Non existent wi-fi coupled with being in a 4G black spot makes it frustrating. Also road noise is very prominent in this location and the surrounding restaurants are poor to mediocre.

Don't pay in advance for meals at Ibis!

A basic hotel, as I expected. However, I paid in advance for dinner and breakfast, but arrived too late for the dinner. Both the receptionist and hotels.co.uk tried their hardest, but could not persuade the company to make a refund. I see this as disgraceful and dishonest.

Hard to find.

Firstly, it is impossible to find without a map, it is not in Bourges and the quoted address is not recognised by a sat nav. Most things were OK but this takes public convenience to a new level. A toilet shower cubicle with a glass door! Some obscure glass but not that in front of the toilet!

Excellent overnight stop driving through France

I stayed at the Ibis Budget Bourges as an overnight stopover on a drive from Barcelona to London, and it was the perfect location to stop on this journey as a halfway point. It was a little tricky to find and is in an industrial area, but I wasn't looking for interesting scenery on this trip so I wasn't at all bothered about that. There was a bit of a debacle on check in because the receptionist, who didn't speak much English, insisted my pre-payment hadn't gone through even though I had printed confirmation that I had already paid for my reservation. It took quite a lot of wrangling to convince her to let me go ahead with my stay without paying again, but after she eventually conceded I was shown to a clean, modern room with all the facilities I needed for an overnight stop. The room was smart and well-enough equipped for a very short stay. There is no restaurant for dinner but the hotel has an arrangement with the Novotel next door that you can receive a 10% discount at their restaurant upon showing proof that you are staying there, and the restaurant was very nice indeed. All in all I would definitely recommend this if you are doing a long drive through France, especially as it is extremely close to the motorway and barely a diversion from your trip.

Petit déjeuner passable. Literie beaucoup trop dure.
