The hotel has a great location next to the beach and the room was clean, but outside of that, I did not enjoy my stay. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable which made it difficult to sleep. The gym and the pool were also closed during my stay, which was disappointing.

The hotel was welcoming and offered many options a for different types of travelers. I was traveling solo this time and they were so very accommodating and helpful as it was my first time visiting. They provided easy solutions to my questions, and also we always so kind in passing and in working together in the lobby, restaurant, or room services. They have other facilities that time did not warrant my use this time but look amazing including beach access, a gym, and pool. Will need to see if I can bring the family another time to enjoy all the amenities. The rooms have such thoughtful and charming touches like mini fridge and kettle, coffee and tea services and spacious closet space. Parking is abundant on the surrounding streets that they will validate which is amazing.

Beautiful hotel on Via Reggio promenade. Our promenade junior suite with balcony was large, very well equipped and comfortable. Balcony great for watching sunsets and listening to live music on the promenade. This always finished by midnight so no unwelcome noise.

Excellent place to stay for Carnival. Would recommend trying to get an ocean view room for best place to watch the parade, though being down in the mix is ideal- the viewing from the hotel was a good option given it rained in the beginning.

I had lovely solo trip . via Regio was part of a two week trip through Tuscany. Great location. It’s right across the street from the beach .Bike rental available! And their spa was fabulous. Their hotel restaurant food was spectacular! And the service in the restaurant was top-notch!

We had a lovely stay for our honeymoon and the staff made it extra special.We had a wonderful room with panoramic view of the sea and mountains. The room was spacious with a balcony to enjoy the views. The welcome chocolates in the room were thoroughly enjoyed. Great location just 20minutes walk from the train station and a short journey from Pisa. We booked a taxi from Pisa airport on arrival (didn’t realise how expensive it was going to be €110) so we got the train and shuttle to the airport on the way back which cost just €20! The hotel is walking distance to a nearby supermarket (7/8min) and across the road to the beach and a variety of restaurants. We had bed and breakfast and the breakfast was incredible very good continental selection not so much hot food on offer mostly eggs but I was fine with that due to the amount available and tasted delicious.
The only slight downsides of our stay was when we went to the sunset bar ordered 2 cocktails they took 25 minutes to be made they were more expensive than restaurants around as expected in a hotel but the quality was poor didn’t taste nice so wouldn’t recommend cosmopolitan. Also the room isn’t soundproof so you hear the loud live music playing right outside until 12:30am VERY clearly but not sure what it would be like if you didn’t face that side. However it didn’t bother us that much as we were getting in at midnight anyway and my husband sleeps with earplugs. However we would definitely recommend and stay again.

Excellent but with pkg plan the buffet if u don’t get there upon opening for dinner nothing is left and they don’t refill. We had a smoker in room next to ours which made our room full of smoke smell. Told staff they did nothing about it plus the smoker had the shower run I g day and night which I also told them. The hotel uses one stock set of photos to advertise their rooms. Upon arrival the room was NOTHING like the photos. We were then told by the staff that they only had one photo they use on all websites. As we were packing to leave, I found an insect resembling a roach of some kind near our bed. Would NOT recommend for the price of €205 per night.

The fact it was four star (this hotel shouldn’t be rated 4 star) with a price that exceeded its overall quality Made this a very disappointing booking. The best thing about the hotel was the view from the dining room at breakfast which overlooked Viareggio beach. The initial impression of reception staff was awful, so abrupt and unhelpful. We had to drag our own cases up a small outdoor winding flight of stairs to a room that wasn’t acceptable and then had to take the cases back down, all the while we were looked at with mild disdain by the staff on duty at the time. After that, thankfully, other staff we met were more pleasant. The rooms were older in style but clean enough. However, the fridge was broken the whole trip despite reporting it. The breakfast included in the price was so disappointing it really brought the mood of the trip down for my partner especially. The ‘hot’ selection was abysmal and lukewarm if you were lucky. Anything that was a decent choice was payable. The majority of the fruit was tinned and the bread selection was poor. Hotel President in Viareggio, which was cheaper and 3stars, was exceptional for breakfast compared to Sina Astor. We actually considered moving to Hotel President but since we were only in Viareggio for a week we didn’t want additional hassle. The dining room service wasn’t great but the staff were pleasant enough. Overall we wouldn’t go back to Sina Astor which is a shame because the location is great.

The main criticism of the hotel is concerning the resaurant. The menu was varied but only changed once per week and then in fact by very little, meaning that eating became repetitive.
The other problem may only have effected our room but whenever anyone used the toilet in the adjacent room we could hear everything, including a loud rush of water which was annoying when one was trying to sleep.

This is a very nice hotel in the heart of the beach promenade area of Viareggio. There are lots of restaurants and shops up and down the long promenade. The beach is steps away. The room was comfortable and the bed was good. The only complaint I have is the fact that when we checked in we were not told, when we asked about where to park our car, that 1 hour later the street sweeper would come by and we would be ticketed if we were parked there. We ended up with a parking ticket and as foreign travelers had to figure out what this Italian language ticket said and how to pay for it. This wasted time and created unnecessary stress during our vacation! The next day we found out we needed to go to the post office to pay it. We walked there and we struggled with a language barrier but finally paid it and it was taken care of. When we complained to the staff at the hotel they said they have it posted near the elevator. Sorry, that’s just not good enough. We had our bags and we waited for the elevator as we were talking, walked in and didn’t notice any sign. It was posted on an 8 1/2 x 11” paper in small print between the elevators. We went into the closest one. My point here is the staff needs to make this part of your orientation when you first arrive at the hotel. I am sure this happens to too many tourists arriving there and it definitely puts the hotel in a bad light.

The hotel is in a great location for the beach, restaurants and the park behind. There is a bus stop about 2 mins from the hotel to access local places and cities further a field like, Pisa . The railway station is a good 20 -30 min walk and a 10-12 Euro ride away. The rooms were comfortable and clean with good toiletries and powerful shower, but a little tired. We stayed in a one bedroom annex room and had a small lounge with no views. The gym was basic, there is a nice indoor pool but you need to wear a cap and great sun room on the top of the hotel with stunning views. The breakfast buffet was excellent.

Although were not accomodated in the main hotel, but were in an annex, we were not inconvenienced.The only slight disadavantage was that our apartments were not serviced by a lift.Breakfasts were very good.The only slight problem initially at breakfasts were that coffee and tea were served from a machine, which was of poor quality, but this was soon overcome by asking the waiters for tea and coffee, who quite willingly brought pots of tea and coffee from the kitchen.

This is a nice property that has been recently remodeled. What is intersting is that it tries to be an upscale and distinguished property but, the combination of attempts to be classically high end mixed with the areas that were not remodeled give the entire property a sense of pretension. Once you get passed that, the place is great.

Front desk staff obviously does not care for tourists so do not expect a warm welcome. The restaurant and general staff are wonderful.

We were scheduled to stay in a two bedroomed apartment close by and were let down the day before arrival. We were fortunate to secure a room at the Astor and even better, after our first night we moved to a Suite. It was superb! Breakfast was exceptional and like the classic hotel it is, the service was top quality. The fitness room could be slightly better equipped; Barbells and Kettlebells maybe. There were also children using these facilities on one day which, was a disappointment however, this should not distract from the tremendous time we had at the hotel and the great staff who make it special.

Grand old hotel near the beach

Nice hotel located on the beachfront in Viareggio. It claims to be 4* but judging it on its current condition this would be 4* some years ago. It's now more like a 3.5-4star hotel. This once fine establishment now caters to a lot of low cost package tour groups which is fine, but if you want quiet and sophistication then perhaps look somewhere else nearby. The rooms are well equipped with a/c, minibar and free wifi. Beds are rock hard! And furnishings are a bit dated. Hotel staff are all pleasant but sometimes casual in their appearance. Hotel facilities are good and it has a lift. Though if you struggle with stairs don't choose an annex room.

Great enjoyable stay at the Astor - have stayed in other hotels in Viareggio and though not the best its very good.
Main issue are the hugely expensive bar prices - after the first time we made sure to drink outside, also there is no pool and use of the local beach is for a payment. The rooftop sunbathing area is wonderful with great views.

We used Viareggio as a starting point to see Cinque Terre, Pisa and Lucca. Train connections to these places are excellent. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, even upgrading us to a larger room because we were staying for 6 days. Bear in mind this is totally off season and there was lots of room, I doubt this would happen in season, in the summer.

Caution - If you book a standard room, be prepared to accept a room in the older part of the hotel. No elevator, and the room smelled like disinfectant. After upgrading to a room on the sixth floor and getting the room we thought we had originally booked, we had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was included and very good. Dining on the open air balcony was lovely. We will definitely consider coming back to this hotel.

We stayed for two nights at the Hotel Astor and wish we could have stayed longer. The room was very spacious, though a teeny bit dated. We had a suite which had a tremendous amount of storage and hooks for hanging wet towels/bathing suits/etc. Our children loved the indoor pool. The location is directly across from the beach, restaurants, and shops, which was very convenient. The street to get to these spots is a bit busy, but cars recognize and obey crosswalks. We rented an umbrella/chairs for a small price across the street for the day, which was perfect.

The hotel staff was very accommodating. They called cabs for us upon request and made check out/check in quite easy. The complimentary breakfast was pretty extensive and the waitstaff was very professional and friendly. If you are coming from the train station, you will need a cab, or be prepared to walk 3.5 miles or so, though it is a fairly direct route. Cabs run between $10-$15.

Overall, would definitely stay again!

The hotel is generally good but it is typical of an organisation that places financial gain over a good service. The staff are polite but unfriendly. We only dined in the restaurant once because the staff again were polite but not genuinely friendly and appeared to be in competition with each other. The parking was very expensive at 28 euros a day and the only other option is the street outside. The beach service was open to everyone with only a very small discount for residents. Finally a word about the 'street sellers' this is by far the worst of the experience and so intrusive. Someone trying to sell everything under the sun or massage your feet every minute you are on the beach! The health spar we reserved for 2 hours but they had decided to change the water in the jacuzzi the evening before and the water was very cold and unusable. Hence another waste of our time. However, the view from our room was good and the room comfortable. Breakfast was good. For all of this Viareggio is not for me.

Upon arrival, I was impressed with the location. Service was excellent. The breakfast was very good with a wide variety to please everyone.

Everything seemed satisfactory. Until, I found a bedbug in my bed in the middle of the night. The night manager seemed at first very reluctant at dealing with the situation and informed me that they were fully booked for the night and I would have to stay in that room. After insisting and showing him the dead bug....the manager placed us in a suite for the night. The following day, the day manager apologized for the inconvenience and accommodated us with a late check out.

We appreciate the professionalism of the day manager in dealing with this unfortunate situation. Without the bugs... This is an overall great hotel!

Weekend away...

Lovely hotel!! We booked it for a weekend away and it turned out to be their local 'Carnivale' weekend. The floats and the town was amazing! Highly recommend you go when it's Carnivale. The kids took over the hotel (be prepared) and all the locals were staying in the hotel, it reminded me of kids running around with streamers and confetti after a wedding! ...others might get annoyed, but we loved it!! A fantastic family feel to the whole area, not just the hotel.

The hotel could to with a bit of updating, but for the price, we couldn't complain.

The hotel offers a free buffet bfast... it's not a hot america buffet, but it was a fantastic continental buffet (if you're familiar with European bfasts - it was great in comparison).

The hotel staff were super helpful and so kind.

We had an awesome in-house massage, 60Euros for 1 hour. Well worth it.

My only suggestion would be that the rooms could do with tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but in saying that, they did have mini bar, in-room safe, TV, cotton buds,shampoo (not conditioner), body moisteriser, soap, buble bath and a very basic hair dryer. We also recived slippers and robes. So now you know what you need and need not, to bring ;-)

The bed was super comfy and the bathroom had a shower and a bath.

We were completely happy with this hotel, in a great location (15-20 mins walk from the centre of all the action), 20 min walk to the train station.

Nice Hotel with a view of the sea at breakfast.

Three nights here for me and my family in August the best time to holiday in Italy in my opinion. The service at breakfast was attentive and efficient with a good selection of goodies on offer. The hotel was immaculate no doubt due to the smart thorougher Italian ladies and gents who managed individual specific tasks allocated to them. I would book this hotel again.

Nice location

We liked the photos on the homepage so we did the booking. Our expectation was really high.When we checked in at the hotel, we were a little bit disappointed. The hotel was more like business hotel. Pool was inside the hotel and felt like public pool.The room was nicely renovated so we had comfortable stay overall.it was nice location and very convenient.

An apartment building more than a hotel.

You do not have a feel of walking to a hotel. The lobby is not Inviting and neither the room, I was in a suite and its very basic, the bedding the shower the flooring you name it, for what I paid it's a joke. The only blessing is the friendly and helpful staff.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Lovely room, indoor pool, good enough gym, fantastic roof terrace and friendly staff. Breakfast really good even if tea could be a little hotter.
Well located. Was full but still quiet and pleasant and did not seem \"full of people\".

classic hotel and great location

We chose this hotel, because of the parking garage in house, I did not want to park my car outside during my stay. I did not pay much attention on anything else during the booking. The staff was very friendly and helpful, Englisch was no problem for them; my italian is limited to only basic words. So communication was no problem. The room was bigger than I thought it would be and to our surpise with balcony and beach/ocean view. We just entered the room when the sunset started, which enjoyed right away :) The decoration is classic, the bed is comfy and overall very tidy. The hotel doesn't offer a keycard for the rooms, but a key with a \"heavy\" keychain which adds a nice little touch to the whole experience. I cannot say anything about the breakfast buffet, as we did not book it. Now to the location, which was perfect just cross the street and you are on the promenade which is full of people at night, the Beach is just a few steps away. Right there on the promenade is nice restaurant called Casablanca or something like this. Don't get scared away if the waiters do not notice you right away, just sit down and wait for about 15 mins. The food is very good (altough pizza was just ok) and the portions are big :) Checkout was also no problem and the car was parked in a way, so I could leave with ease. I will definitely return to this Hotel during my next stay in Viareggio.

Pleasant enough, but service could be improved

The location of the hotel is great, right across from the sandy beach and the hotel had obviously had money spent on it. The Gym, Pool and restaurant areas looked smart. The service could have been improved - the reception people could have been more welcoming and offer more information and warmth - such as on tips for where to park, details on the hotels facilities on offer, places to eat out etc. Parking in this town is a problem - although shops sell a daily parking permit for EUR 8. The hotel doesn't offer free Wi-Fi, which most other hotels do. Compared to another hotel we stayed in during our holiday in the Italian Lakes, this one compares poorly - for the same price.

There are no difference between 3 and 4 star hotel

Difference only in price. I would say reception staff pretty roud and helpless, dont understand English well. Cleaning ladies clean well, every day new sheets, but they also like to put my personal cosmetic belongins to diferent places..sometimes even to the floor of the bathroom. No free WI/Fi internet, even in lobby. over expensive internet.We stay in 4 star hotel in Middle Italy 10hour card for internet was 5 euros, in Astor hotel the same provide of internet 10hour cost 18 euros. Location is good. 15 min. to bus station, 20 min. to train station by food. Beach recommended by hotel - 22 euros (1 umbrella, 2 chairs, +9 euros for swimming pool usage). 10 minutes walk better beach with 3 swimming pools for free and only 15 euros (1 umbrella, 2 chairs). furniture in the room was old and just badly painted white, bed had old type of mattress with springs thru the surface as there was holes in it and they tried to cover it with a towel under the sheet. breakfast was good, just bacon was with bones.fresh fruits every day.I would not recommends this hotel to anyone.

Perfect for the Viareggio beach

I really enjoyed my stay in this welcoming and friendly hotel. The staff at the front desk were unfailingly helpful. My room was comfortable and scrupulously clean. Breakfast is ample and varied, so you don't need to eat a big lunch if you want to save your appetite for dinner. The hotel is only metres from the beachfront with shops, restaurants, bars, and, of course access to a splendid beach. One wee thing - the bar in the hotel is not a great social feature, but there are some great bars within metres of the hotel door. Watch out for the bicycle lane once you've crossed the road in front of the hotel!

Hotel was great! Very helpful and polite staff and very good breakfasts. Room was in the annex and was like having your own apartment. Would definitely recommend this for a 3 day break as Viareggio is a one trick pony! GREAT FOR A CHILL OUT.

This was the perfect hotel as far as convenience, price, friendliness and helpfulness of the hotel staff. The spa was ideal for relaxing sore muscles after traveling at length throughout Tuscany. The rooftop sunning area has an amazing view and from what we could see is one of the few hotels that has such a view. Hotel Astor offers a discount on the beach umbrella and chairs which can be purchased at Florinda on the beach.9
