The hotel itself is beautiful and within walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants. The staff on reception were especially friendly and helpful and arranged restaurant reservations for us and checked ahead with all these restaurants to make sure they catered for gluten free.
The restaurant within the hotel is definitely worth a visit, the tasting menu was absolutely stunning and the staff again were so friendly and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble.
Would highly recommended staying here and we will definitely be coming back.

Pricey but one of the better hotels in town

Very expensive for the area. Some very nice hotel features (modern lighting/fixtures/etc). Very expensive for the area (which seems a bit run down). The hot water wasn’t working in our room. The parking is on the street for 20 Euro. Most restaurants are closed on Monday.

Newly refurbished hotel, very modern and esthetic, very comfortable rooms and bathroom. Like in many hotels the shower water pressure is very disappointing. The staff was very polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good with great verity but they charge extra for omelets and that, together with charging for bottled water is the only point of dissatisfaction we have.

My husband took me here for my birthday. The staff was warm and welcoming and went above and beyond to make my day special. It was wonderful! They upgraded us and the room and view were spectacular! We loved the shower as well. I HIGHLY recommend this beautiful hotel!

AIR CON PRE SET TOO HIGH OR BROKE

Clearly states air conditioning. Air con was set at 25 degrees. Set it with a minus 3 and temperature stayed at 25. At night it went from 25 to 25.4 while it was 21 degrees outside. Hotel told me they would fix and didn’t . Was told that they set it at 25 and people seem happy with this. Now the manager is trying to say that I was shown how to work the air con. 1. No one showed or explained anything 2. I am an experienced traveller and I know how to operate an air con unit.

Beautiful hotel, excellent service

This hotel is beautiful, chic and super clean. It looked brand new. The staff was so accommodating. We arrived on one of the carnival days and despite no parking anywhere, they allowed us to use one of the the hotel’s designated spots and moved our car nearby when a spot opened. The room was sound proof. The decor and lighting were modern. The bed was very comfortable. It was a wonderful stay, I wish we had stayed longer. The hotel is about 1 block from the carnival parade route, so you could not see from the windows or balcony clearly. However, we visited only for one night so we could experience the carnival floats. They were amazing as well. I wish we had stayed longer.

Just probably a bit too tiny rooms (311 and 302 — I presume the lowest category ) and very noisy — 311 — because of the airco from the outside — when windows are open.

Nice hotel close to the beach

The beach is in front of the hotel, you have to pay extra but this is the way it works for most hotels in this city. Most hotels don't have a swimming pool but there is one in this private beach. The bus and taxi stops are really close to this hotel. The hotel smells really nice and is clean. The personal is extremely nice. Breakfast is in the rooftop looking at the sea. Maybe more fresh fruit would have been nice but overall this hotel is perfect for a nice stay.

We stayed for 3 nights and couldn't fault it. Perfectly located for the beach, harbour, promenade and town centre. The room was comfortable and very clean and the roof terrace was a lovely spot to enjoy breakfast every morning. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful.

At first impression I thought the hotel seemed dated but, I soon realized that this hotel is not dated but historic with wonderful furnishings and beautiful architecture. The staff at this hotel is very respectful. The breakfast on the top floor overlooking the sea was also very good. Thank you to all the staff to make our stay special. Ciao!

The location is ideal. The staff could not have been more courteous and helpful. Room was quiet and sufficiently spaceful. Great bed. There was a small problem with the bathroom sink that was fixed immediately. I will stay there again next time I am in Viareggio.

This hotel was in a great location - just across the street that runs along the beach shops and restaurants. The beach is big, but unfortunately, full of umbrellas and chairs to rent. There is very little open beach to simply go throw your towel on and spend the day. But there are a lot of restaurants that serve very good food all along the way and shops aplenty.
The hotel is rather basic - no carpet in our room, but the bathroom was nice and clean and roomy.
The beds were terribly uncomfortable for us. It is a thin mattress that is on a board - no box spring - and very hard pillows. That was my only complaint. Breakfast was nice and is at the top of the hotel, affording a nice view of the beach and outside seating if it's a nice day. The hotel was great overall, but I wouldn't stay there again just because of the bed/pillows.

Handy for the shipyard

Room smelled funny (cigarettes/damp). Definite feeling of fading grandeur. Terrace restaurant was good with nice views. Close to boardwalk and harbour. Bus to/from Pisa airport (€3, every hour) stops 50m from hotel - very convenient.

YOUR google map is inaccurate and it was over 2 hrs until i found the hotel via foot with 30lbs of luggage, thanks
i stayed here becauseit was the oldest hotel in Viareggio. the public rooms and the bath in my room are updated but the room i was give (although the hotel was NOT full) was in the back add on bld.
old, a view of someones building where a resident chanted untl late at night.
NO FAN in the room, was told AC cold not be turned on yet because of city rules, but a fan is not regulated. HOT HOT HOT

rooms at the front of the bldg. of course had a breeze from the sea.
best part of the hotel was the roof terrace and the empty dining room i worked up here each night enjoying wine, the sunset view and the quiet. Viareggio is NOT a quiet town during 'season'
staff was wonderful: printed docs for me, found a pharmacy open on sunday etc.
you should go to see this lobby: 9 sofas + chairs, and venician glass chandelleirs............huge..........

note: when a hotel is empty consider upgrading your guests, EVEN solo travelers. in fairness to the hotel, i did see a smaller room but have no idea of the price
room had NO DESK, so don't plan to work here

Near to the Yacht yards area and close to the sea

This hotel is ideal if you have to work in any of the yacht yards in Viareggio. Most of them are within walking distance from this hotel (10 to 15 minute depending from the yard you are going to). The rooms are clean and the staff helpful. The breakfast is usually served at the top floor restaurant. The view of the sea from the top floor is very beautiful and make you start the morning on the right foot.

One of my best experiences in Italy

The hotel was easy to find from the train station in Viareggio, right on the promonade and so easy to reach all the shops and fine restaurants.
The room was clean as a whistle and made up promptly each morning.
Speaking of morning, the breakfast was beyond belief, three kinds of cheeses, ham, salami,three kinds of bread,scrambled eggs, bacon,two kinds of yogurt, fresh fruit,three kinds of pastries and on and on.
Don't try to carry your own bag or they will take your arm off, they are right there for all your needs.

Charming European-style hotel with fantastic dining terrace on top floor. Very good food although somewhat limited menu. Seaview rooms can be noisy as they face the promenade. Light sleepers must choose between fresh air and peace. Very accommodating multi-lingual staff.

Did not live up to its promotion.

Initially as you enter the public spaces it appeared to be am elegant and comfortable hotel. The room we chose on booking was a superior room (we had to confirm it was a superior room when we saw it) it did not have the space as one would expect for that type of room, it was square although the ceilings were high. The Bathroom was large enough but the shower head was too small and the water pressure was very low most times that we used it, the shower doors leaked a certain amount of water onto the bathroom floor which we had to mop up everytime, no great problem but not really to be expected. The staff at reception desk were always very helpful when we required information or assistance, we did advise them about the water pressure and the leak but the problem stayed with us, I have no doubt they would have passed the the message on. The wardrobe rails were okay if you were 6' foot tall as they were too high and at the wrong angle. We do not want to be seen as nit picking, but if the Hotel promotes itself as a memorable and comfortable experience then it must conform to all parts of the accomodation and not to the outward public spaces.
One word of warning if you drive to the hotel, when we arrived on 19th August the parking situation was horrendous in Viareggio as a whole, the space for hotel guests was for loading or unloading, the only parking was in the public spaces (if you could get one) this did ease off towards the end of our stay at the hotel.

Old World Charm

I stayed here on a business trip of some four days.
The hotel was very convenient to the marinas and docks of Viareggio and it was a short taxi ride from the airport in Pisa (30mins).
The immediate area about the hotel offers everything one could want in the way of entertainment and convenience.
There were high quality restaurants and a cinema and a Burger King - Satisfying all tastes- and a Pucini exhebition not too far away.

No use as a beach holiday

I have no issues with the hotel itself. It was clean, well placed, the staff friendly and the breakfast good. However it is NOT a beach hotel in that it does not have a private beach and all the beach in Viareggio are privately owned by clubs. The hotel told me on arriving that I would have a pay over £13 per person per day to access the beach - this is not in the particulars and it just says close to the beach (not saying you have to pay to use it). Good hotel as long as you don't want to swim or are prepared to pay alot to do so.

Me and my partner spent a week in this hotel we were very impressed .We arrived in Viarregio by bus Hotel Entrance about 50 metres from bus stop. The hotel had a lovely marble foyer the reception staff were attentive and knowledgable alway through stay. Room was comfortable only slight complait was air con could have been cooler and view wasn,t great but these didn,t effect holiday too much. Breakfast was tasty and good choice.The waiters adn room maids also were really nice. Nice roof terrace great views Restaurant had tasty food but not cheap. The location was in the hub of the action which was ideal Overall fantastic hotel would have no hesitation to rebook if ever go back.

Booked this hotel for our honeymoon. Hotel itself very nice, staff all extremely friendly and helpful. Room fine, lovely view over the sea. Bit noisy as so close to the road, but not a problem for us.

Reception staff did not appear to have our interests at heart: our sons bed was not prepared on arrival, reservations not followed-up by concierge (we made the bookings ourselves), no inquiry if we enjoyed our stay or not on check-out
If you are staying in the junior suite, check if the chewing gum is still lying on the windowsill. How can the turndown service oversee it for a close to a week?

Eine Nacht am Meer

Wir waren für eine Nacht im Hotel Plaza e de Russie und es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Das Hotel liegt perfekt und ist sehr schön renoviert. Die Zimmer sind gross, sehr modern und haben alle Extras, die es braucht, ausser ein Teekocher oder einen Nespresso Maschine. Wir wurde sehr freundlich bedient und alles war perfekt. Das einzige was nicht gut ist, ist das Parkieren. Ich denke die Gäste in dem Hotel haben alle sicher auch eher teureren Autos und das haben ich auch. Als wir eine Parkkarte für den öffentlichen platz gekriegt haben, uns wurde keine Garage oder ähnliches angeboten, waren wir etwas überrascht, dachten uns aber nicht dabei. Am nächsten Morgen war dann bei unserem Auto hinten rechts die Scheibe fast durchgeschlagen. Da wir bei unserem Auto mit Alarmanlage und Doppelverglasung etwas Glück hatten, hielt das Gals und es passierte nichts. Aber für dieses Hotel erwarte ich eigentlich ein Valet Parking und einen sicheren Platz für mein Wagen.

Hotel accommodatie met name kamer was klein en gedateerd en eigenlijk geen 4 sterren.
Gaat binnenkort sluiten voor jaar of langer voor totale rennovatie.

Torneremo ogni anno

Cinque giorni a Viareggio che rimarranno scolpiti nei nostri ricordi. Un hotel fantastico come posizione, centralissimo, cura di ogni particolare, con una convenzione per il parcheggio fantastica, una colazione ottima e completa in un terrazzo con un panorama da favola. Staff gentilissimo e disponibilissimo per ogni richiesta.

Italienska hotell är i allmänhet \"overpriced\" de har inte hängt med ...de höll högre klass i snobbar som jobbar tidsrymd ..men tyvärr tiden går och Russe storhetstid har passerat

Sehr gutes Strandhotel, relativ laut...

Hotel und Personal bieten sehr hohes Niveau. Die Lage ist grundsätzlich sehr gut nur leider sind die Fenster/Türen sehr undicht und der Straßenlärm ist sehr störend.

Climatizzazione

Difficoltà di dormire perché il climatizzatore (fancoil) è veramente rumoroso e non si può controllare la velocità. Tra l'altro è impossibile spegnere il clima, sei costretto a subirlo per tutta la notte.
Per quanto riguarda il personale , posso dire solo che è eccezionale... sono gentilissimi!!!

Ok hotel close to the beach

The first room we got was very small with little room for 2 large suitcases. The air conditioning did not work properly. We complained and got a new room which was of satisfying size. Still, the air conditioning did not work very well. Obviously the air conditioning-system in the entire hotel is outdated.
The hotel is close to the beach and the shoppingstreet.

nice and clean hotel very central

the hotel offers whatever you may need. an excellent breakfast and restaurant.
i would suggest to get superior rooms if you need space.
the hotel on the 4th floor for breakfast or meals in absolutely gorgeous with an amazing view on the coast.
