We had dinner in an almost empty dining room. The meals were served up but no one checked on us during the meal. My partner had no cheese in his burger. We mentioned this at when the plates were being cleared and it was mentioned to the chef and manager but no apologies or no compensation.
The coffee sachets in the room used the cheapest coffee possible and it tasted awful.
We had breakfast, which was okay but nothing special. I admit that they stopped serving at 9.30 and we went down at 9.00 but most of the cooked food looked like it had been there since they started serving and the coffee was very weak.

The Spa facilities were excellent as were the therapists. Top notch.
Lovely helpful staff all round.
Expected a bigger garden but it was still nice with good seating areas and lovely views.
Would go again l, even if only for the spa.

Pleasant room and bathroom. Breakfast good qith plenty of choice.
We stayed during a heatwave and our room was like an oven even with 2 fans so it was hard to get to sleep. The window opened a bit but not enough to make a real difference..

The hottest day of the year so far and the room was hotter than outside, hotter than the corridor. No sleep. Thank god for the cold tap and bath to cool down intermittently.
Its a spa hotel with nice restaurant and gym etc, but no aircon! Why?

I was visiting family and this hotel was only 5 minutes away from the village they lived in. It was nice and quiet and i would say is more for people passing through. Not really for families with small children, however ideal for when on the road with a lot of travel to do as a pit stop

The room was clean. The bed was a twin but could be made into a double. The bracket had be left on one of the twin bed which we kept banding into our leg every time we walk passed. Which was a lot.

When booking with this hotel make sure that breakfast is included in the fee for the room. Otherwise you will be paying 15 pounds for every meal. Also, the outlets are not the normal to outlets that you would see in modern hotels. Make sure to get a three prom to change your electronics. The Wi-Fi is not that get.

The staff aren't very helpful they do not offer any help with your luggage. The leaflet in the room says if you've got any questions ask reception I asked reception about leaving the hotel and which way to drive The member of staff couldn't answer my question. After the first night in the morning I put my card on the door handle to let the staff know that I needed my room to be serviced all I really needed was clean cups. I came back that evening to find the tag still hanging on the door I went inside and there were still filthy cups there. The next morning I am quiet at reception when I was going out for the day to see if they had forgotten to do my room that I was then informed that they don't service the rooms unless you are staying for 5 days or more I was only staying for 3 nights. So by putting the card out which is left there for you nothing was done to my room so what am I supposed to do for 3 days with my dirty cups am I expected to go to reception each day asking for clean ones. What what is the point of the tag system being put on the door handle. The rooms were lovely and warm until the middle of the night and you would wake up absolutely boiling there was nowhere for you to turn it down there was no fan to put on to try and counteract the heat because I was on the ground floor there were not proper windows just the Louvre type Which let in enough fresh air but because you on the ground floor facing the car park you can't leave your curtains op

Lots. A few of the staff need some positive communication skills upgrading.
Breakfast might have been ok at 6.30am when cooked, but not so good at 9ish when a lot of residents appeared to eat.

It was ok. Had to go asking for toilet roll. There 3 nights and asked for our room to be serviced on the 2nd night and our request was ignored.Rooms basic. They couldn’t get us a remote for the TV and were going to get us to move rooms. We told them not to bother. Not sure I would stay here again. Food was very good.

Room did not meet the standards of the rest of the hotel. Fixtures and fittings very dated, stains on sofa bed (twice reported but never cleaned)! No fridge, no phone to call reception. After one full week we stayed 4 nights at a Travelodge and it was scrupulously clean and modern, great value restaurant and friendly staff, all for about half the price. We would not recommend Hogs Back Hotel to friends.

I have Huntingtons and get tired and unable to walk at the end of day. No lift and would let me swap room to ground floor. Hotel said it was fully booked but I checked on Hotels.com and there were very many rooms available.

Plenty of parking and a smooth check in but very little information is given. Stayed for one night to celebrate anniversary. The room was similar to a travelodge room but had everything you needed. No air conditioning so the room was like a sauna and uncomfortable so we had very little sleep. The spa was okay, the hot tubs were closed for cleaning but even when open were grubby. The jacuzzi wasn't working properly, sauna was great, steam room had tissue over the sensory so we took it off the first day and it was still in there the next so it had not been cleaned. Breakfast was a good selection but had clearly been sat out for a while and was dry. The bar wasn't particularly welcoming and was dark and dingy. It wasn't quite the relaxing break we had wanted.

We recently stayed at the Hogs Back hotel and spa for two nights.
And were extremely impressed with the customer service. It is very rare to find a hotel where across the board the staff are helpful and polite and greet to you with a smile when we visited the health club we were offered a tour of the facilities and the procedure for borrowing towels, robes and padlocks was clearly explained to us by a girl called Katie without us even having to ask. she was excellent! Equally, we had a problem with our television in the room and this was quickly rectified by Leo on reception who could not have been more accommodating. The restaurant staff were also friendly and helpful. One member of staff who stood out here was a girl called Izzy who again was exceptional.
Well done, hogs back, you either have very good customer service training or are very particular in your recruitment process.

Great hotel, great facilities considering the price. Great service from the staff. Lovely comfortable stay in a good sized room. The hotel is next to a busy road so I would probably recommend to ask for a room at the back of the hotel to minimise thevtraffic noise.
My only disappointment was that (in pur room, for this stay) all the power sockets are located at the opposite end of the room to the headboard of the bed. So we could nog charge our phones and have them in easy reach, and the fan that was provided too far away to be very helpful

The property needs an overhall! Its looking tired in rooms and the pool areas. We were given a room that had a small window to open, but sadly a very loud piece of machinery was going 24-7 right outside. The main thing that we were told when we asked for clean towels on our 3rd day of a 4 day stay, we only change them when you leave! God help us if we had been staying a week! Its was 34° outside and we had been having 2-3 showers a day. We had used the spa also but you cant beat a cool shower before bed. But sadly not with clean towels. It actually shocked us to say how it had come across when booking it. But hey ho. Not for us.

On arrival, the receptionist was not very polite or helpful. She was very brusque and answered our questions before we had even finished. She asked us to register our car which we did but have received a parking fine, which we do not intend to pay. Please have this removed and inform us in writing once actioned.Details Car Reg GL54 FCA CLK 240 Avant. Ticket issued 08/08/2025. PCN12590379687 Date 03/03/2025 16.56 48 - this is the time we actually arrived at the Hotel and were registering. We were having problems with the receptionist because as a disable person i person have problems climbing stairs and she said that there were no room downstairs because there was a party going on that night. In the morning at breakfast I asked if a party had taken place and was told no. My blue badge was clearly displayed in the car. RoomThe sink had a leaking tap which has caused unsightly rust, all the soap were empty or nearly empty. There is a big stain on mattress bottom left side. We left the room on the Monday to use the Spa when I got back to the room about 3 pm the room had not been cleaned and I had to ask a maid to make up the bed and she did while I was in the room, the bathroom was not touched and dirty glasses and tea cups were just left, bins were not emptied. I was not going to leave a review but feel that your service was very poor I look forward to a speedy response especially regarding the. Parking ticket.

First room had an extractor next to the window. Next we had to go to reception to ask for towels next day and told they only clean the rooms once a week.

So the bathroom only gets cleaned once a week. No cleaning items are in the bathroom to do it yourself.

I suppose you are expected to take the rubbish to the local recycling centre if it’s full.

Will not be using this hotel again.
