Hotel was lovely, pool was brilliant and the room was perfect for us.
Restaurant was very over priced. Also extremely busy due to football being on and we didn’t know it would be full with people not staying at the hotel but unfortunately no where else to eat. Extremely slow to seat/serve us (took 20 minutes to be seated) then took a further 25 minutes to order our food and drinks as had to queue at the bar and only 2 people on the bar even though it was a Sunday afternoon/early evening and was heaving.
Overall lovely hotel but restaurant really let it down for us so would eat elsewhere if we stayed again.

One day stay to break up long commute. Have used Village hotels before.
Booked club room due to early start and knowing I would want a coffee and use of leisure before setting off.
Coffee machine was broken. Staff simply advised they would report it, I therefore purchased coffees from on site Starbucks at a cost and without comfort of being able to enjoy coffee in the room.
Light within dressing table did not appear to be working regardless of how many light switches I pressed!
Bath mat was used, had hairs on it (several).
Neon sign from car park shone through the window all night, making it difficult to sleep. This sign faces a lot of windows so can imagine it is a problem for many rooms.
Have always been pleased with Village hotels previously.
Some mis comms about opening times of various aspects of the hotel, no response when querying these.

We arrived 1 hour and 20 minutes before check in. In my experience at hotels if they have a room available they allow the check in free of charge. If your room is not ready, then you would need to wait. My room was ready and I was told I would need to pay an additional 15 pounds to check in. I decided to wait as this was ridiculous. I ended up checking in around 5 pm and was told I would need to pay an additional 5 pounds in order to use the pool. I tried to pay in cash and when they wouldn’t accept this payment they did comp the pool fee for me. I still don't Understand why you need to pay extra for the pool when you book a hotel with a pool. This boggles my mind. Bottom line is the hotel was comfortable and clean, but they are super cheap and try to nickel and dime you for everything.

I stayed here for 5 nights and each day I had to ask for fresh towels and/or toilet paper. In those 5 days, housekeeping only made the bed and took out garbage bags once. I constantly had to ask reception even though I had the “freshen room” tag on the door.

I was in an accessible room and this was probably the worst experience I’ve had. I had family staying in other rooms and they received fresh towels daily.

It was like staying in 2 different hotels. Do better!

My room was not clean when I arrived. There is no phone in the room to call the front desk. Guests must scan a QR code, and request a live person. I was exhausted so I \"hung up\" and just went to bed. The bed was very comfortable.

I requested a room refresh on day 3. Nothing was cleaned, just the towels were replaced.

The bench seating in the pub in the hotel are filthy - there is old dried food between the cushions and the seats stained and very dirty.

I will not use the Village properties after this experience.

The welcome from staff was amazing, really attentive however there was no staff present for checking out.
Very noisy outside the room, with the window closed, didn’t quieten down until after midnight.
The room was cold and the thermostat didn’t work to turn the heating up.

So, it was not announced in the booking but check-in was delayed until 1800, not 1500. Having driven into the car park I was confronted by a roadworker who squared up to me and threatened me with assault saying the car park was closed and then stormed into the hotel once I said I was not leaving.

There were no signs to state the car park was closed nor was there any notification here.

Then at 1am the air conditioning started pouring out water. Not wanting to have to change room at 1am it was just switched off.
Defo not four star.

Good stay in line with the expectations of a village hotel.
As always a Massively overpriced breakfast to the point your thinking wow I’d what straight from the farm. We went to Greg’s where £12 fed 4 of us as apposed to £12.50 for one of us at the village.
On top we couldn’t get decaf coffee because there’s a star bucks in the hotel. The young man was very insistent that no we don’t do little decaff potions for the room. With the kids there it’s never worth the argument but Having stayed in village hotels with work for the past 4 years I know this was a lie and he just couldn’t be bothered to go and get it.
The hotel and facilities were good on par with expectations. The female staff were lovely and friendly with the kids which is all you can ask.

The hotel feels dated, the décor reminded me of a Wetherspoons from the mid-2000s and really hasn't aged well; and even in a Club room there were chunks missing from the bathroom panels, which wasn’t great. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable.

The restaurant, however, was a real let-down. It’s incredibly expensive for what it is, and the quality doesn’t match the price. On my first visit, I had a rubbery, bland burger. On the second, I thought I’d play it safe with six chicken tenders and some onion rings, plus a pint of Coke – it came to £25, and the food tasted like it had come straight from the freezer. Breakfast was similarly disappointing at £12.50 a day: sweaty, fatty bacon, soggy hash browns, and very limited cold drink options.

To top it off, the steam room wasn’t working during my stay.

Overall, the bed was comfortable, but it’s hard to justify the prices given the dated feel and poor food quality.

When we raised it in the morning, there was no manager to complain to, they took my details and never called me to discus. My wife could not sleep after the incident and they said they were just checking the room to see if it was clean - definitely did not feel right.

I’ve stayed at The Village Watford many time previously, but unfortunately this was very disappointing stay.
After a late 11.30pm check in I discovered that the water in the room was stone cold after a very unpleasant shower! I got dressed and went to reception. No staff around so I waited until someone turned up around 10 minutes later. I explained the problem and was told to pack my stuff and he would come to move us to another room in 5 minutes. 20 minutes later we were offered the room next door. We checked the water to find it was also cold. “No problem, I’ll be back in 5 minutes to move you to another room”. 30 minutes later we were moved again and guess what, no hot water! By 12.45 I didn’t want to move again so just took the room. Next morning I was told there was a problem with the boiler. If I’d have been told the truth a the beginning I would have had an extra hours sleep!
Very annoying and will make me think twice before booking again.

Check in is a joke, supposed to be self check in but needs assistance like all other hotels to get your room plus that’s what you are paying for, customer service. It was our 1st time staying in the village hotal have to say it was lovely room staff friendly heloful too.
We had level 1 in room 102 only meh to it is your looking a wall thats the only downside but other then that everything was clean tidy .There's a kettle and few option to have a freshing drink.
We didnt use anything apart from the rom so i cannot comment on rest of the hotel
We didn't eat or drink or use the gym or pool thats an extra charge
Bathroom spacious we had with rain shower wow i definitely recommend theres a black out blind nice and we would had a veiw of runway i guess but u hear it a little but didnt bother us ty

When we arrived at the hotel, the parking was difficult to say the least. The amount of churn in the car park due to the gym and the pool users was excessive. My wife commented on this and how hotel guests should really have a separate car park to avoid damage to their cars. How prophetic that was.

Upon arrival, we met with my daughter for dinner at the hotel. Both commented on how ‘laddish’ the atmosphere in the bar and grill was, and how uncomfortable they might feel if they were travelling alone. So much so, my wife ordered room service.the night I was in London.

We both slept reasonably well, but had we gone to bed early (pre 11pm) we would have most certainly been disturbed by the stomping of feet in the room above, and the loud chatter and noise in the corridor.our room was on (we were in room 219).

Also, my wife and myself are non-smokers. Our room looked out on to the front of the hotel and was also a family room. We.like to sleep with a window open. It had to be closed due to the.noise at the front of the hotel of a nighttime, plus the ingress of smoke into our room. We then also noticed that the window did not close properly with a large gap at the top of the window.

Bathrooms in hotels have always amazing me as to their non-friendly design. This bathroom was no one exception. I am 5’ 7” on a good day and the toilet roll holder was at a perfect height to dig into my thigh every time is u

I like village hotels for the quality of the rooms and the fantastic gyms.

My experience on this booking wasn’t that bad , and I think I was unlucky as:

1 - the room heater didn’t work and it’s now mid winter and was freezing. But, not the end of the world as I sleep better in a chilly room.

2 - when I arrived at 6pm, there was a running club meet up with many people ready to go for a run. There were no hotel
Parking spaces as the runners had taken them all. I ended up parking somewhere down the road

But, I’ll go back to the same hotel as I do think I was unlucky

Stayed at this hotel many times before, but this stay was by far the poorest.
We had booked a double room as usual as we like the beds and the bathrooms, but as we don’t check in until 10p.m. all the standard rooms had been allocated and we were put in “disabled/accessibility” room.
This means a low bed and a wet room instead of a standard bathroom, which means the whole floor ends up wet and the sink is knee high.
Rooms should be allocated when booked, not dependent on when you arrive. We shouldn’t be pressured into arriving early to ensure we get the room we have already booked. If we had been advised when booking what room was available we may have chosen to book elsewhere, but this should be our choice.

The stay was ok, tried to order room service but you have to do it online and the website would only let you get to a certain point before kicking you off!
I tried several times before I gave up and had to go downstairs and order in the bar.
Most of the stay was okay apart from the bathroom where clearly the cleaners do not clean behind the bathroom door as the white tiles behind the door were yellow where they clearly had not been cleaned and when you sat on the toilet, your leg was literally touching the toilet rolls so these are clearly in the wrong place!
