Not many cars in car park, so I thought a room with a view would make sense as that's the photos used to advertise the place. My room was looking onto the car park.
Food options limited, Guinness had finished with no more to connect.

Let's start with the good stuff. Bathroom spotless, lovely fluffy towels and a great size too, not the usual handkerchief you often get!
Massive bed, crisp clean bedding, great pillows.
OK, so let's ignore the fact that the decor is in need of an update - it might be shabby, but the room was really clean throughout.
Negatives? Central heating SO noisy, I had to wear earplugs to block out the background noise.
And the shower, although really good and hot, is like being spiked by needles! Easily solved by a thorough descale of the shower head.
Overall, great value at the price and would definitely stay again

Room was clean and spacious, if a little outdated. Staff were courteous and keen to please, but there was no breakfast buffet as it wasn’t busy enough so we had to order in advance. It then wasn’t ready when we needed, which made us late with onward travel. Plus we chose it for my fussy son to have a choice from the buffet! The restaurant was also closed on arrival as too quiet so we had to find a nearby takeaway! All in all a bit of a disappointing experience.

Staff didn’t engage, when they were available they were talking with eachother. Had to search to find any members several occasions they were in the back in the kitchen as we could hear them but couldn’t find them as we didn’t want to go searching a food safe area. The view was beautiful, the “patio” needed some attention it was very creaky under foot and didn’t feel overly safe, the room was also extremely warm, had to sleep with the patio doors open to reach a comfortable level with the heat being shut off all day even.

Felt safe and tucked away. We did not have breakfast. Evening menu appears to be pizza or pizza
Not allowed to take own food or drinks ,🤔 we went to a nice pub instead.

Bar was a bit pricey but it's a hotel so expect it.
Looks a little dated but it was really nice. Lovely lake to look out in.
No noise at all which was nice.

We had requested ground floor as husband is disabled.
The receptionist was amazing and helped us as this had not been requested from the booking.

Could not fault anything for the price we paid

The staff Cristina was extremely rude , they wanted to charge us £12 an hour for extra time to check out and check in is only at 2pm the previous day , rooms are cold nothing to change the heating . Hotel is has nothing to do , they don’t work with cash. Bought a rose wine which tasted old as well. Breakfast stuff but not enough , pastries were old and none left or replenished
Overall the customer service was bad because of one staff member called Cristina which was extremely rude and unhelpful

From the advertise pictures I was expecting to see something special being at Lakeside hotel is also where they host international darts in the same complex very disappointed didn't appear to be a lot of staff around hotel looks very tired. Need a really good refurbishment the Lakeside hotel is not that close to many restaurants et cetera so I ended up having to eat in a restaurant area. Had to wait a long time to order food and even longer to get a drink as there was one lady who bless her was doing her best to cover both the bar and the restaurant area on her own and she was also at an age which must be quite tough. The food arrived. It was edible but nothing special as I was attending an exhibitor exhibition the following morning I asked that reception if I could get room service for breakfast as the normal service of breakfast was later and I could attend. I filled out a card offering a list of choices for the breakfast. Their credit arrived at 6:30 as asked but unfortunately they decided to ignore my choices and put everything else, but what I chose on my plate and I didn't have time to discuss it with them . As I was staying for two nights the following evening I went out for dinner instead but I did attend the normal service breakfast the following morning where they seem to be more staff on and was greeted with a smile. There was limited choice again, but there was a full breakfast which I went for and that wasmore than acceptable.

Hotel is a little dated but it's quirkiness gives it character. Rooms were large, comfortable and cleaned daily. Staff were generally very friendly. Couple of negatives were the cost of dinner for what was a relatively basic menu and the days when breakfast wasn't a buffet due to low residency which meant a tick-box order sheet had to be filled in.

Clean & Tidy hotel if slightly old fashioned decor - think conference hotel built in the 70’s / 80’s… but this is where the criticism starts and stops.

Service = amazing
Cleanliness = Top Notch
Staff = attentive and super friendly

Yes it is a little old fashioned and the decor could do with updating (for the love of God, get rid of some of the kitsch furniture and mismatched objet D’art!) but this place oozes charm and the service and people make it a trip worth making. I’d stay again and recommend you do too!

The area around the hotel is tatty. Also the leisure facilities were not available but we had been pre-warned of this.
The breakfast was good, it is just a shame that there has been little maintenance around the property and surroundings.
Commercial vehicle drivers should be made aware that there is a charge for parking and that the vehicles remain at the entrance car park rather than allowed in the car park close to reception, meaning that security of vehicles could be a concern.

The hotel itself and the grounds need a lot of attention. The hotel rooms and communal areas are very dated. Some serious money needs to be spent on this hotel to spruce it up as there is so so much potential in this place its unbelievable. Reception staff was not very helpful but not sure whether that was because of a language barrier, I don't think I see any member of staff whilst we was there that spoke English as their first language. We asked reception to order us a taxi as we was attending an event, the driver charged us £30 to go less than 3 miles. When I asked the staff on reception what the taxi company was called they couldn't give us an answer. We used a different taxi company from North camp and was charged £13.40 to go back to the hotel. If you ask the hotel to book you a taxi I would ask the driver how much it will be before you start your journey. Food was edible but not worth the price you pay for it and the bar prices are ridiculously expensive.

The whole place is tired and dated and in need of a good clean, there’s the asylum seeker hotel across the road all facilities where closed the swimming pool empty and not in use the bar didn’t open til 3 and was very expensive and making up prices as they went the breakfast was poor and under cooked my room was infested with spiders

Never been in a hotel that was so empty. Only a few buisnessmen/tradespeople. Lovely view of the lake, & although I didn't pay the extra for room with lake view, I was given one- thanks.
Breakfast buffet ok, very little choice for dinner so didnt bother. 5 min drive to Village & different eating options.
I booked because I'm sure I saw it had a gym & pool but booking confirmation then clearly said both not in operation at that time. Looking through the window, it hasn't been used for a long time.
Nice location, very reasonable price but nothing special.

The hotel looks great, well maintained and impressive once inside. Our room had a small balcony with a view of the lake and was a well appointed with a large double bed.

Has a very 70's feel to it. Clean & tidy. Rooms were nothing special but wete ok. Staff attentivness was a little disapointing. The man on breakfast was very polite, however he was on his mobile if there werent any guests coming in. On the day of check out, reception was empty. I had to wait over 5 mins for the receptionist to turn up. Smelt like she had been smoking. The waiting and the fact she had been smoking werent an issue for me personally, but I do feel from a professional point of view, reception should be staffed at all times, espically if someone is going for a break.

Seemed a workman’s stop over. Which is a shame as lots of space and it was empty except for a few men in high vis.

However the lovely ladies behind the bar cheered the place up. One menu - so no-one was in the huge restaurant. I would have ordered room service if it was possible.

Weekend at the Lakeside

I was attending a 70th birthdaycelebrations in the area and I decided to stay the night at the Lakeside International to make a weekend of it.
The hotel itself is very unusual. The prevailing style is late 1960s / early 1970s, which you don’t see so often these days. It is nicely situated by a large lake and I imagine that it must really come into its own in the summer.
My double room was a good size, very clean and very comfortable. I got the impression that it must have been refurbished fairly recently with a new carpet, bed and nice wooden built-in furniture.

We arrived to a completely empty car park (space for around 100 cars), and a deserted hotel, with the exception of one person at Reception. We had been warned by the hotel that the Leisure facilities were closed and the bar and restaurant would close, dependent on trade, but we didn't expect the restaurant to be closed at 6 in the evening! The sandwiches from the local petrol station were less than interesting. Otherwise, hotel decor and fittings are very dated, breakfast is ok, and the staff seem cheerful and engaged.

We stayed 2 nights while attending a family wedding. The hotel is old but very clean. It could do with an update in some areas especially the showers in the rooms. That said we had a warm comfortable stay and would stay again. The breakfast was fine could have been hotter but plenty choice. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The staff were great and attended to any request promptly. Another plus is that there is plenty parking and a lift if you find stairs difficult.

The property is old and tired shower cold no housekeeping nobody came to clean up cups or replenish tea bags. No towels replaced.or bed made . We found a pizza box with mouldy pizza inside must have been weeks old on top of wardrobe. Hairdryer dryer very old and kept cutting out. Generally awful would never stay stay again . We passed pizza to staff who didn’t really care. Key for lights very useless had to insert at least 3 times to get working .

Nice place by a little lake. Old but felt clean. Weird policy of not bringing any outside food or drink to the terrace but otherwise a good value.
It says airconditioning but there was none. It was cool and had an openable balcony door. Also be careful. The lakeside terrace apparently close at 11. The door locks from the inside and if you are not niticed you might be spending the night iut there

Outdated hotel, room had musty smell, I could not sleep. Carpets old and dirty. My partner spoke with the hotel manager the morning of departure and she informed him she would investigate and email him, so far no response. In my opinion the manager should be aware of the condition of her hotel. Speaking in my experience as someone who spends 180 nights a year in hotels for work for the last 20 years.

Plenty of space and unique decor in the main reception area. Bedrooms are clean and tidy and very comfy beds. The hotel feels a bit dated but the staff are friendly and polite. Decent selection on the menu but fish was over cooked on evening meal as was most of the buffet breakfast.
The lakeside location is stunning and relaxing and overall it means that I would return again on business.

We visited the Lakeside International Hotel over the bank holiday weekend, hoping to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a peaceful retreat by the lake. The location truly is stunning, with beautiful views and a tranquil atmosphere that offers a perfect escape.

However, despite the gorgeous surroundings, the hotel itself leaves something to be desired. The interiors, though functional, feel outdated and in need of a refresh. The decor lacks the charm and warmth that could make the experience more enjoyable. A few modern touches and some attention to detail would go a long way in enhancing the overall ambiance.

Another area that could use improvement is the service. Unfortunately, the staff did not seem particularly forthcoming or attentive during our stay. While we didn’t encounter any major issues, the lack of warmth and proactiveness in the service was noticeable. A bit more friendliness and attentiveness would have made a significant difference in our overall experience.

In summary, the Lakeside International Hotel has the potential to be a fantastic getaway, thanks to its picturesque location. However, it falls short due to its dated interiors and lackluster service. With a few improvements, it could truly shine as a top choice for a relaxing lakeside retreat.

The staff were very friendly but there was limited bar opening. You can only walk around part of the lake we were disappointed you couldnt see more of the lake. Dirty plaster in our room, hairs on the sink not ours when we arrived. The first nreskfast was cold but the second breakfast was a bit warmer despite getting their for the opening up of the breakfast. Property is a bit dated but it was in reasonable condition.

Great stay in a traditional hotel, amazing lake ba

Its a nice traditional hotel.
Very clean and tidy.
Clean and comfy bedroom with powerful shower.
There is a stunning lake at the back of the hotel which makes for an amazing backdrop on summer's evening.
Breakfast was plentiful with good choice of buffet.
Ample free parking
Was once the home of darts. The hotel was quite quiet on a weekend in the heights of summer, shame the hotel isn't busier with football as would help with the ambience.
