The building was beautiful with a lot of plants, the lobby needs some work. The room was confortable with a nice balcony, the A/C works well, we had a small fridge, we had water kettle with teabags. The breakfast started at 9am (too late for us). Lily made an effort to acomódate us, she prepared us two picnics bags to take. We appreciate the effort.

We had an amzing stay at Villa Alicia. The staff were extremely helpful and so pleasant. The continental breakfast was absolutely excellent. The patio/terrace out the front was a great place to relax and unwind at night. Would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Malaga. I can't fault it at all 🌟

Good value and short walk to downtown. I booked a room with shared bathroom and ended up having it to myself since I arrived Sunday night.

On the negative side, the bathroom needs a working exhaust fan - it is tiny and gets very humid. Additionally, the breakfast situation is very confusing - they put out a good breakfast buffet, but it is actually a separate cash charge of 10 euros. I didn't realize I had to pay in cash until my last day. IMO you should either include the breakfast or not for everyone, or make it clear in the reservation that breakfast is extra. The information I received gave hours for breakfast, which to me means breakfast is included in my reservation.

I loved the location and the option to have breakfast. As a sole traveller I wanted somewhere safe and convenient. The room wasn’t very big, but again I was solo as. It had what I needed and a kettle.
You could also use the kitchen up until 8.00pm which was an added bonus.
You could walk to a nice beach in about 30 minutes, port took me about 25 and the old town around 20. There were buses if you wanted to do that.
If you want en suite make sure you request a room with it.
I was worried that the old window in my room wouldn’t close but it seemed pretty safe and there was a small safe in the room to use.
The staff were really helpful and friendly.
Malaga had amazing places to visit and there were shops, cafes and restaurants all within an easy distance.
If you don’t speak any Spanish maybe use Google Translator or something like that but the staff spoke very good English.
Would definitely go again.

Property had character and had been sympathetically converted - decoration was quirky. Very clean and staff friendly. Quiet and fairly convenient location - city all accessible on foot if you're reasonably mobile.

We stayed in room 12 and although their were 3 flights of stairs to have the balcony was worth the climb. The room and bathroom were clean and the bed confy. The road was quiet. Breakfast was tasty, and there was an option to eat on the small balcony.
Christina checked us in and although there was a language barrier she was super friendly & funny.

This was a very comfortable little hotel, just a 10-minute walk from the historic center, the main thoroughfare, the port, and past that, the beach. It had easy access to public-transportation, but was on a quieter side-street. The staff were excellent, very friendly, and helpful. It's worht noting that the address threw me off a bit as I walked up the street and saw numbers 11 &13, but no #12 across the street....it was a bit further up the block on the other side.

Cheap and great. It was the last moment booking and no affordable hotels in center of Malaga on the weekend I wanted to be, or too expensive. I found this by accident. Great staff, clean and convenient. Not sure I will be back because I need to have a private bathroom but during this stay it was just fine. Highly recommended if you ate on budget.

Relax in Malaga

We were in Malaga for a couple days on the way to a longer term stay in nearby Nerja. Villa Alicia was very welcoming and charming. While being close to the historic core the street was very quiet and it was easy to sleep. The bed and room was comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed having a glass of wine on the front porch and watching night settle on the city.
Our hosts had good recommendations of the top things to do and where to go. Breakfast was a good value and very convenient. It was a great time to meet and chat with other visitors.
Villa Alicia is on a residential street and it is an easy 10-minute walk to the attractions. It provides a nice retreat from the bustle of the attractions and tourist buzz.

Small, cozzy close to historical center

This is a very nice small hotel. The area is amazing, quite and just a 5 min walk to historical center, but you can park on the street for free (if there is a place) which was very convenient. There is a kitchen which can be used after 11 a.m. (after breakfast time f course) and a huge fridge in which you can put your ingredients. There are small fridges in the room as well.

Great combination of a hotel and a hostel - optional breakfast or a fully-stocked kitchen if you want to cook. Cosy room and the en-suite was good with a good shower. Location is nice and quiet, a bit further out but in a nice local area and only 20 mins from the city centre. Lovely terrace!

At this place you get what you paid for. Decoration could improve a little.
Location.....perfect. Street with not much traffic so not very noisy. Walk to Center about 15minutes, but very pleasant passing by stores and caffees.
Travelled solo and felt very safe. Personnel....! In one word. EXCEPTIONAL . Any thing you need......they were there.
Thanks for the wonderful stay and hopefully will see you soon again.

Nice service, beautiful garden, clean basic room (with air conditioning not functioning). Breakfast was included, but was starting at 9:00 am. We needed to leave at 7:00 am, so the receptionist prepared us a small cold snack the night before. The reception is open only between 9:00 am and 10:00 pm, so call for arrangements if you cannot arrive between these hours.The Wi-Fi is extremely slow. Finding a parking place on the street is a chalenge.

What a wonderful stay we had here. The staff was very friendly and at all bothered by our near lack of Spanish. They did everything they could to make our stay great. The whole place was beautiful and artistic and aesthetically pleasing. Situated in a nice little neighborhood. Highly recommend a stay here.

Villa Alicia is a traditional building with a certain rustic charm, original features and carefully chosen furnishings. Our allocated room was on the first floor, at the back of the building, with compact en-suite facilities and plenty of storage space The bed was comfortable with an additional pillow and blankets provided, if required. The shower provided plenty of hot water too; however, the wooden toilet seat was placed on the bowl rather than attached too it

Not too far from the centre with a couple of bars and cafes within a few minutes walk. If you're looking for luxury, don't bother. If you're looking for character, it's for you. We were all in room's with private facilities with room 11 having a beautiful balcony/terrace.

The worth nightmare of finding a new place at 1am

I would like to understand what happened, in our previous email the staff said, if the hostel was closed when we will arrive, which happened to be around 1 am, we just had to take the keys and the instructions in the box under the mail box at your residence. We arrive with a Taxi, did the password you gave us, it opened the box, but there was no keys and no instructions. The taxi driver stayed with us, some pedestrian in the street came as well to try to help. We called the hostel several time, they never picked up the presumably emergency number. We even tried to call all the rest of the week, they never answered neither.We had to pay a 2nd trip in taxi for the city, trying to find an other hotel. In the end it was more expensive for our budget with the 2 taxis trip+ the other hotel adding up to the fatigue and stress of having to find somewhere else at 1am in the morning which resumed to be 2.30am when we finally could rest. I am extremely disappointed. I won't recommend this hostel to anyone.

Friendly hostal in historic villa.

I stay here when I have to catch an early flight. I wish I could have stayed longer. Everything was perfect. The guest house , in a beautiful villa, has retained its uniqueness. I especially like the well-equipped kitchen. My room was tastfully furnished, equipped with everything I would expect in a good hotel.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 3 days. We were welcomed by a very sweet lady who showed us around, and explained malaga and directions to the beach and center, and made us feel very welcomed. For our breakfasts we decided to buy bread and fruits to keep in the kitchen. The next day a different lady (seemed like the owner) was very unfriendly, unprofessional and rude towards us not knowing the rules of the kitchen (which we were never explained). We kept our fruit on the side of the counter in a bag with our name on it, and woke up the next morning to see that lady using our fruit. Instead of an apology, we were yelled at for not putting them in a special cabinet (we were not told anything about this). She continued arguing with us for about 20 min, and later cursed us out in Spanish.
The rooms were very nice for the price, but I cannot recommend this hotel.

Small quirky independent hotel

In October there is a beautiful smell from the jasmine plants climbing up the front of the house. We had an ensuite with a communal sitting room and the option of sitting on the small front terrace. We could also use the kitchen facilities from 9am to 9pm each day. The small hotel is quirky, with some interesting wall paintings. The reception staff were friendly and gave us map, giving advice on the map in response to questions. They spoke reasonable English - much better than our Spanish! The bus no1 takes you to the train station. All bus rides are 1euro 30. The train is 1euro 80 to the airport from the bus station. A taxi straight from the airport to the hotel costs about 30 euros. The hotel was nicely placed in a quiet part of Malaga but only about a 15 minute walk to the cathedral. The Picasso museum and house were even nearer. If you book the hotel over the Internet, they only take a 10% deposit, the rest is paid at check out. All in all, a nice authentic experience.

Delightful guest house in perfect location.

My partner and I just stayed here for five nights and loved it. The guest house is delightfully rustic and our particular room had a lovely terrace with views over Malaga and down to sea. The location is quiet, but still just 5 minutes walking distance to the centre of Malaga, and 15 minutes to the beach. The proprietor is friendly and helpful, breakfast is good, and there is also a kitchen, fridge and washing machine which guests can use. We will definitely return.

It's in a really awesome location. I liked it! Good price, but no AC. It's a little hard to find, but here is how you get there. From the train station take the circular 1 or 2 to the left and through the tunnel. The bus will turn right and go all the way up the hill to the old church. It has a huge front stepway and a little park to the right. You will know when you get there. Then by foot...go to your right 2 blocks, make a left, and its about 3/4s way up the street on the right side. There's an awesome Italian resturant across the street from the church. Great food, it was the best food I had in Spain or Italy! Try the salad!!!!! Yummy

The hotel was great, very clean, beautiful double apartment which was appreciated as there were three of us travelling. We were only passing through Malaga but we wished we had more time, the city looked beautiful and it would have been a good place to spend some time at the beach. The location was quiet but close to downtown and it was easy to get to the airport from there.

Ester was a superb hostess. Easy 15-20 min. Walk to most sites. Eateries and markets closeby. Didn't eat optional breakfasts there , but they looked good.
Neighborhood is quiet with some lovely mansions.
Tip: Take correct bus in right direction to hostal (1.3 Euros).
Pretty art and lamps in lobby. 1-3 flights of stairs to rooms.
Plenty of hot water after 1 to 2 mins.

This hotel is in a quiet, pretty neighbourhood but only a short distance from the city centre and all of the local restaurants and tourist attractions, however just be aware that it is a good thirty minute walk from the bus/train station, although there are lots of buses to this area. I wouldn't really consider this to be a hotel but rather a guesthouse. The rooms are nicely decorated and the public areas are very relaxing and it has general laid back vibe. My only complaint would be that the girl on reception was not particularly welcoming and on two occasions I had to stand around waiting while she carried on a telephone conversation. Other than that though it was a really nice place to stay and I would highly recommend it for those on a budget.

Hunt The Hotel!

We know Malaga a lot better since we spent over 2 hours trying to locate the Hotel Villa Alicia in the dark! lt was extremely difficult to find it without a Malaga street map; but even once we'd got to the right street, this is so long with very similar-looking properties all along both sides, it was still really hard to find the right Villa (about midway.) We were extremely lucky to get a parking spot almost opposite but if that hadn't been available it could easily have been another half-an-hour before we got settled in! lt was a very attractively-decorated hotel & despite the late hour of our eventual arrival, we found a really nice little bar close by with some equally nice food available; our room was pleasant with an extremely comfortable bed - don't think l've ever fallen asleep quite so quickly! Breakfast was very nice & l was lucky enough to get their last egg.. The couple in charge were very friendly. My only advice would be not to attempt to find the hotel without a street map - especially in the dark!

Für diesen Preis war das Frühstück völlig ausreichend. Es war alles da was man morgens benötigt, sogar Milchalternativen und Vollkorntoast.
Die Managerin kümmerte sich liebevoll um alles und bot morgens Kaffe, Tee oder anderes an. Sie war sehr freundlich und gab gute Tips für Malaga.
Einzig im Zimmer wäre eine Lüftungsanlage sinnvoll, da man im Bad und hinter der Heizung leichten Schimmel erkennt. Die Matratzen sind sehr hart ansonsten alles in Ordnung für einen kurzen Aufenthalt. Das Haus sieht nur abends Sonne, was im Hochsommer sehr gut ist, allerdings war es im März teils doch recht frisch. Eine Elktroheizung war vorhanden.

Klasse Standort, keine 10 Minuten zur Altstadt, Location sehr sympathisch mit eigenem Spirit, Stuff super nett und hilfsbereit. Früstück einfach aber ok, könnte für mich gerne früher sein, nicht erst ab 9 Uhr. Ansonsten rundum zufrieden und gerne wieder!

Jag och min man o vår hund stormtrivdes i vårt rum med terass. Många trappor för de som har svårt att gå. Vi bodde fyra nätter till full belåtenhet. Terassens matta bör dammsugas oftare och blommorna på terassen vattnas oftare. Ca 12 min promenad till centrum. Vi återkommer gärna!

Hyggeligt ældre pensionat. Meget hårde senge, og hård hovedpude. Morgenmaden ok, men serveredes ikke altid til den lovede tid. Ikke for gangbesværede, da det er mange trapper. Rengøringen kunne være bedre.

Wir hatten das Zimmer mit Balkon, das würden wir auf alle Fälle wieder nehmen. Tolle Aussicht und schönes Zimmer.
Es sind aber jedesmal 54 Stufen, muss man wissen. In 10-15 Minuten ist man zu Fuß im historischen Zentrum. Auf Bestellung bekommt man ein Lunchpaket (Picknick). Frühstück ist klein, aber alles vorhanden, man bekommt eine Kaffeespezialität, danach normalen Kaffee oder Tee

Schönes Gästehaus in ruhiger Lage

Dieses Gästehaus ist ein kleines Schmuckstück ca 15min fußläufig zur Innenstadt.
Freundlicher Empfang, schönes, individuell eingerichtetes Zimmer. Da das Haus schon älter ist, riecht es etwas muffig, aber die Fenster können komplett geöffnet werden.
Einfache Einrichtung, bequemes Bett, Minikühlschrank. Ich hatte ein Zimmer mit eigenem Bad, es gibt auch Zimmer mit Gemeinschaftsbad.
Es wird ein kleines Frühstück ab 9:00 Uhr angeboten, für mich etwas spät, da bin ich in der Regel schon unterwegs. Es gibt eine Gemeinschaftsküche, in der gekocht werden kann.
Die Unterkunft hat keinen Fahrstuhl, man muss die Koffer einige Treppen hochtragen.

Hele mooie villa met mooie kamers. Vriendelijk personeel en een goed ontbijt.
Alleen is een ontbijt vanaf 9:00 wel een beetje laat.
En verder is parkeren een ramp. Maar het verblijf zelf is absoluut een aanrader.
