I travel and stay in various hotels in the area for work. Mainly Travelodge or premier inn to keep the costs down. For the rate they charged me, (which at booking was considered a lower price), I do not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

There was no WiFi for the first two days of my stay. Given the hotel was in a dead zone for signal it left me unable to do any work, or keep in contact with the wider world for that matter, while at the hotel. Reading other reviews this seems to be common.

Overall the hotel was of an ok standard. However the beds are the most unbelievably uncomfortable things I have ever laid on. A bed of nails would have been nicer. I might as well of used a concrete block for pillows. Since this is described as a spa hotel it seems bizarre that the bed was this bad.

Though I was working slightly unsociable hours while I stayed the house keeping staff have to be the loudest I have ever experienced. Would have been quieter on a building site.

My room also seemed to be very close to the pool pumps. There was low drone constantly 24hours a day in my room.

As the gym and pool facilities. I don’t think they have been deep cleaned ever. Though well equip the gym really needed a good scrub. The shower changing rooms were diabolical. Discarded shampoo bottles, towels etc everywhere.

Very frustrating stay. Would not recommend since there are plenty other hotels in the area.

We had a fabulous overnight stay where our room was spotless overlooking views of the countryside. The gym had everything and the pool a great size for swimming and both a sauna and a steam room. The hotel is clean and attractive with good facilities.
Unfortunately my experience was not good, my room lost power at 9pm, I reported it to reception and was asked to wait at the bar while they investigated. After an hour the receptionist informed me they could not restore power to my room, I said that I was not happy to stay in a room without electricity and asked to be moved to a different room but was informed they were fully booked. So I had no choice but to check out at 10:30pm to try to find alternative accommodation, the receptionist was not abke to refund my stay when I checked out and was told the reservations manager would do it the following day. I have called the hotel today but the reservations manager is not at work, so now I am chasing Hotels.com for a refund while they liaise with the hotel and am faced with a 24-72 hour wait for a refund.
I am sure if you stay at the Guildford Manor Hotel and Spa you won't face similar issues, but my experience has been a bad one.

Room was pleasant and clean, the spa was really nice and not too busy (Sunday night in February though). Outdoor pool and grounds very pretty. Hotel overall a bit dated. Despite arriving 45 mins after check in started (15:45) ourselves and another couple were told our rooms weren’t ready, but then 1 minute later they suddenly were when I queried the time. Our TV also randomly came on in the early morning and woke us up. The toiletries weren’t great- would recommend bringing your own shower gel and shampoo.
Overall we got a great price (well under £100) and it was well worth it, but think it’s normally a lot more expensive and not sure it’s justified at a high price.

The hotel is filthy, the shower cubicles are tiny in the bedrooms, no hot water in the bath... we changed rooms only to find the room was again dirty and to be honest we'd had enough. We booked 2 massages, there was no one in the spa on arrival, We were collected late for our treatments, alot of stalling, we paid for 50 minutes but we was lucky if we got 30 minutes. The massage was awful. Left me in more pain than i started with. We ended up givibg up and leaving the gotel within 3 hours of checking in.

I booked this hotel as it had a hot tub and pool. I arrived really looking forward to soaking away my aches and pains.
It closed as I arrived at 8pm. I checked the details here and no mention of early closing.
My room turned out to have no towels. I found out after already getting undressed for a shower. So after getting redressed I popped downstairs to be asked what was wrong by a staff member. I explained and was asked “did you check in today”. Today I said.
Off he goes and comes back asking one towel or two. At no point was any apology made. I felt that I had disyurbed his evening by asking!
My room then turned out to not have a thermostat on the shower, so I had a shower that varied between scalding and ice cold.
Finally I got to look out of my window at the pool and spa, having the perfect view of the facilities that I couldn’t use.
To really finish my evening off the pool pumps and heating were just outside my window. I was kept awake by the noise, which at times could be felt through the bed.
I had to turn the main lights out as one was flashing too. Great.

Poor bloke on reception seemed to be doing everything including running the bar! Needs more staff!

Room was smelly and a bit grubby. Same with communal areas, needed a bit of a clean. Would be nice to have a few more towels and to have the tea, coffee and milk replenished. Food was okay and good range of drinks. Pool and gym area was great. Never any staff there though so would recommend to bring own dressing gowns and towels. Could do with better lit up signage outside for night time arrivals.

I’m really disappointed to be writing this, especially because I’ve stayed at this hotel before with my friends and had a great experience. That positive visit is exactly why I recommended it to my husband and why we decided to come back. Unfortunately, this stay was nothing like my previous one.
When we arrived, the air conditioning and the toilet radiator in our room were not working. We reported it to reception, and the staff member said he would “check the control” and asked us to give it time to heat up. We waited almost three hours with no improvement. A maintenance person was eventually sent, but he couldn’t fix it either.
We asked to change rooms, and both the manager and the receptionist assured us that the new room would be the same size with the same view. This was not true. The new room was noticeably smaller, including the bathroom, and the view was of bins and a car garage. They also told us the air conditioning and toilet radiator were working, but the toilet radiator did not work at all during the night or the next morning. The bathroom was freezing, and our belongings were damp.
On top of that, we couldn’t sleep because the couple in the room next to us were extremely loud from around 9:30 pm until 4:30 am. Between the cold room, the broken facilities, and the noise, it was impossible to rest.
The only positive part of our stay was the spa facilities, which are genuinely good and enjoyable, just as I remembered from my previous visit.

Lovely, quirky, comfortable stay. Didn't get to use the spa but it looked great. Only slight issue was soundproofing, I could hear people running on treadmills in my room. Still, I slept like a baby on the very comfortable bed. The food is excellent too. It is in the middle of nowhere, 25 minutes walk from the nearest bus stop, with no footpaths, so I spent a lot on cabs getting to and from.

The good news is that the gym and pool were both great - the photos on the website don’t do them justice - and the chap on the bar was friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the room itself.

The shower was pretty grim, with hairs and a thick build-up of grime that made it hard to feel clean. There was missing grout around the tiles, and the shower fitting was loose and wobbled alarmingly every time we adjusted it. The water temperature was also all over the place - one minute hot, the next freezing - which made showering a bit of a gamble.

The bed throw was another low point, with large visible stains and what looked like blood splatters. When we flagged it to reception, we didn’t get an apology or a replacement, just a comment about how hard they are to wash and that finding a replacement throw would be difficult. Not exactly reassuring.

On top of that, the walls were paper-thin. We could hear full conversations from the room next door, as well as their blinds opening and closing, plugs pulled in and out, and general movements, so getting a restful night’s sleep wasn’t easy.

It’s a real shame, because with such a pretty location and great facilities, this place could be fantastic, but the hygiene and lack of basic care really let it down.

One of the windows in the bedroom didn't close properly which made temperature control questionable. The shower head didn't function properly, but the water temperature was fantastic. The restaurant is very pleasant with comfortable seating and plants within. The food was prepared well although nothing to write reviews about. The rooms are really quite nice, full of character. The on site gym is really well equipped and the indoor pool is good size. Getting to the sauna and steam room are a little tricky but both are available and not far from the gym

My executive room no. 18 was furnished very well and decorated with style from the owner with a middle eastern tasteful but lavish style which continued throughout the rest of the hotel
Amazing view from the rooms massive feature windows.
The bathroom was large and ,i was very happy with that space. Althoigh it would have benefited with inderfoor heating or the towel rail being able to switch on. I like a warm bathroom!
The bed was comfortable inc the pillows!

Awful hotel. Never done this before but we packed up and went home rather than stay. Room had broken furniture, bed and chair.
A wedding was right outside our bedroom window. Loud, couldn’t have blinds open as right in the middle of the wedding, this was awkward for us as well as the wedding guests! We couldn’t sit on the patio and a chef was flipping burgers at our window.
They couldn’t offer another room but said they would refund us, have chased this but they have not been in contact.

The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I was given a room with a skylight, there was no view, & the shower would be better off with a folding partition, as you were a bit restricted entering and leaving the shower.

On my second time staying at this property and I was extremely disappointed. On one of the warmest days on record, I learned the front desk monitors the air conditioning for the room. The quality of the iron left rust stains and a black substance on one of blouses. I had requested just bar service instead of full housekeeping and nothing had been brought to the room even after calling downstairs three times for just some bottled water. One of the front desk young men bargged into my room one afternoon without announcing and explained that he had the wrong room.. he was attending and emergency from a different room. This was incredibly unnerving for me as I was traveling by myself and some strange man came barging through the door!. Needless to say after talking to the manager on each item, all he could say was \"we are sorry\". Also your room may be in one of three floors with no lift, so beware

Sadly my room let down the venue, the excellent receptionist and the overall presentation of the Hotel and grounds. Why, well the extractor didn’t work in the bathroom, the overhead shower underperformed making that task protracted and the pop up plug wouldn’t close making washing and shaving challenging and very wasteful of water.

Just wished I lived closer as I would definitely join with a membership to use the facilities

Menu choices in the restaurant were great too as was the food
My only criticism is the special offer of 2 choices for a set price £25 was misleading as certain food choices which was the majority of the menu included a surcharge which I felt to be unreasonable with exception to maybe the steak dish to include a surcharge!
Two courses would of not been charged at £25 as advertised
That said I thoroughly enjoyed the dinner
Would happily return

we had excellant value for money staying there on a Monday, very quiet and lovely gardens. There are some areas that need attention before they become tatty, for example the jacuzzi step handle is very loose, the windows in the pool all need cleaning, you can hardly see out of them and the stair banisters need painting.

A charming hotel 3 minutes from Newlands Corner

The room was lovely for 2 adults & a child.
My son really enjoyed the lovely trundle bed in Room 1 and the double bed was comfy and good size. Spacious room. Spacious bathroom. All good.
Dinner.. We did the 2 course menu for £25. The waiter seemed to be running the restaurant on his own for most of the early evening. Seemed slightly chaotic. One of those guys that is very exuberant on the face of it but can rapidly change to stressed and grumpy… sadly I hadn’t really looked into the outdoor hot tub area so we didn’t bring swimming costumes and didn’t use it but it looks lovely.

The hotel was very tired it needs some TLC. Information book in room was torn and damaged reported they had no replacement. The drink and menu information in the room were all out of date price wise . The menu in restaurant showed a discretionary payment of 4.5% when the bill came it was 7.5% it was taken automatically, the meaning of discretionary did not apply you just took it. Breakfast white sliced bread no choice, cheap fatty streaky bacon would expect more for the £15. The tea tray in the room was short of things. Regarding eco friendly somebody was running water all day on the 9th July when the country is in the middle of a very hot summer when water is precious?

We booked a 2nt stay, paid to upgrade to an executive room, lovely view of the grounds. 1st afternoon/evening quiet & relaxing. 2nd afternoon not so much. The room was directly above the wedding area, had to keep the blind down for some privacy so not worth paying the extra. Also lack of sleep due to music, noise and guests banging doors & talking loudly until gone 1.30am. Not very considerate putting us there! Had dinner at the restaurant which was ok but the plants, light up decor needed a good clean as lots of webs around. Outdoor jacuzzi was really nice and pool/spa areas

The best part of the hotel is the beautiful grounds that surround it. Its so green and peaceful! My favourite person was Ron, hes the bar/restaurant manager, very lovely man. Couldn't believe there were no fridges in the rooms... very 1980's... no lift, and my room was literally the other side of the hotel, no fun carrying a heavy bag/case up with no offer of help!

The first night i jumped out my bed convinced there was a moth on the blind lol! I'm petrified of anything that flies.. and long story short, it was dirt on the blind... will add picture... so overall, i had a good break, but hotel didn't live up to my expectations. Also, the restaurant menu needs to be a bit more versatile and inclusive. Cocktails fantastic though, Lychee Martini... AMAZING!!!

Have stayed here before. Our visit then was wonderful.
It was my wife birthday this time. So should have been special. There was however a very drunk women causing a scene. She was abusive to my wife, had to be escorted off the premises and this marred our stay.
Sadly on this occasion the pool was murky with bits in it so we decided best to avoid, and the outdoor terrace area was too full to access.
The hotel and grounds are lovely with wild peacocks and well manicured gardens. Worth a visit as value for money

The gardens give it a nice touch as you drive up to the property, set in nice surroundings.

The shower room/toilet could do with a blind for the window, you felt a bit overexposed to the car park when useing toilet, especially when light was on.

It was a good spa break with my daughters
Only issue was that the breakfast options very limited for vegetarian and definitely NOT worth the £15 I was charged
I would go again but I would have to go elsewhere for a decent vegetarian breakfast
