The staff were very friendly, loved the history of the place.
a few things could do with a bit more love, but staff told us there were plans for a spa etc. So would think about a re visit in a year in the summer.

Lovely surroundings. Inside looked rather tired - carpets old and dingy, headboard not very clean, bedside light didn’t work and tv had a dreadful signal so had to turn it off. Shower room excellent. Very limited menu in the restaurant but what I ate was good. Staff very friendly.

Still awaiting reply to you as to our being charged £23 more via this website rather than what the hotel said ok Ur room cost. Bar staff lovely but only 16 and not allowed to serve alcohol!! We didn't manage to get a drink before going out. No lighting and path very dangerous going down to the Courtyard. Beautiful place just very poorly run

Wonderful Barnett Hill

Another great stay at Barnett Hill. The service and friendliness of everyone working at Barnett Hill was again first class. They made Jane and I and also our dog Mia feel so welcome and they could do enough for you. This is an outstanding hotel, with a wide variety of drinks in the excellent 1905 bar and the a la carte menu also available to us in the bar so Mia could be with us.

Stay was great and room very comfy and clean, however the only downer was that check in wasn't until 3pm and if you wanted to check in earlier its £50 extra. which was a load of nonsense.

I had to get changed for a wedding in the toilet which was less than ideal. Staff were great

Lovely hotel in nice quiet grounds. We upgraded to luxury king and recommend- huge bathroom! Very tasty breakfast cooked on order. Outside areas need some Tlc - original greenhouses need repairs & wooded area needs cutting back as couldnt walk through. Great base for drive into Guildford

Old fashioned and not a 4 star hotel

The hotel is really not a 4 star. More like 3 star. No luxury whatsoever. Our room as very hot and couldn’t open the windows. The bathroom was lovely but that’s about it. Very old fashioned and very small reception area. The spa is very crammed as well with very rude staff. We had one set of towels in a double room and toiletries for one person. The only nice thing about this hotel is the ground. Stunning place for a wedding as long as you are not staying there. Very overpriced for what’s on offer. Never coming back here.

Hotel was pleasant enough. Booked a \"cozy double\" - and that is what I got. Hotel lets itself down in the cost for extras. Overpriced food and drink - portion sizes are questionable - £15 for a prawn cocktail - which was basically a mouthful! also, not the best ingredients used and breakfast orange was awful! Plus charged extra for an extra pot of tea at breakfast! Bit of a rip off - shame really. At check out tried to charge me again for the room - didnt know how to take off bill as paid hotels.com

Flatters to deceive

Very grand exterior and of course with the title luxury hotel. It clearly leans towards corporate and wedding functions which is fine but to the detriment of the hotel. We ate in the bar first night where staff seemed confused. Our starters were left of the order and the food took an extraordinary long time to be served considering it was only a burger and club sandwich with chips. Breakfast although nice was a long wait, had a limited choice of juice and again there seemed to be a lot of unorganised staff. Our room was the biggest disappointment. It was at the top of the building and reached via very steep stairs. decor nothing special and the shower was over bath. The bath was high and seemed short. There was a slopping roof at the end so you have to play twister to get in. The shower head was low so even at average height I had to stoop to get under it and the water pressure was low. Not a very enjoyable experience all round to the point we did not look forward going back to the room. It seemed this is a spare room so not sure why I was booked into it. The hotel did not seem fully booked and there were several rooms available when I booked it. Maybe because I checked late or I booked via Hotels. Poor value for money. I suggest you request not to have room 9 if you book this hotel.

Very small room, all 4 guests crammed in the same block. Children upstairs and housekeeping supplies at the door under the stairs.
Acres of room and I had to sleep with earplugs due to the noise.
Have to keep blinds all the way shut - gardeners looking straight into the room / and watering during rain and a hose pipe ban.!

A bit pricey but very good hotel, splendid grounds, attentive staff and excellent service. Shower very good, as was breakfast. Only one problem: a powerful nightlight in the bedroom ceiling which could not be turned off and flooded part of the room with a lurid half-light not conducive to sleep for anyone but a nyctophobe.

A hidden gem...

A hidden gem, gorgeous property and grounds with lovely staff. The rooms are immaculate but I wouldn’t pay extra again to upgrade from a comfy king to luxury superking. The comfy room my friend had was just as nice and was a lot warmer. Spa treatments are very limited and not worth the ridiculously high price especially when the treatment room was cold too. Food was excellent and we’d come back for that alone. Overall a nice stay if just a little chilly!

The location is serene. The hotel rooms are luxurious and well supplied with necessary accessories that one would expect from a hotel of this star rating. However, breakfast was a DISASTER. Breakfast is an important meal for me. I was shocked by the standard and the quality of the food. Besides, the variety was limited for a hotel of this class. Their standard price of breakfast is £15, and in my opinion and experience with hotels, as I travel a lot around the country on business, one would expect an excellent breakfast at that amount. For example, the Clayton chain of hotels which are in the same star rating as this hotel charge slightly less than £15 for their breakfast, but their food and the variety that they provide is light years ahead of this hotel. I would have given this hotel a five-star rating, but because of the disappointing breakfast, I will give it a three. Barnett Hill Hotel really needs to do something about the standard of their breakfast.

Beautiful hotel. We were relieved to not actually be in the main building in the end as there was a wedding on both nights. Didn't seem to be anywhere to really relax other than our room. Food was a big disappointment at breakfast and we have eaten better in a premier inn. We didn't try dinner as it seemed very expensive and we had found a lovely local pub with excellent food. The room was nice but a little tired. Coffee maker great but we had to remind them to give us another dressing gown as the room only had one in it.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. However, we asked for a quiet room on a higher floor but we were allocated overlooking the car park. There was a conference while we were there and these people took over the bar in the evening and were drunk and very loud. Some of these guests were outside in the car park smoking and making a noise after 1am. Then slammed doors when finally going to their rooms. Same slamming doors from 6am. It's a shame as this spoilt our stay as we had disturbed sleep.

We booked a suite for our wedding night, it was facing a loud party downstairs, one of the blinds was broken in the room. The bathroom was smaller than the standard double we each had the night before, and they continuously ran out of food at breakfast, it took 25 mins to get breakfast from a buffet!

I stayed in the courtyard area of the hotel, it was lovely. Modern, clean and quiet. I did see my friends room that was staying in the main hotel and their room was very tired and dated. Bearing in mind they paid the same they were very disappointed. We spent one of the evening's in the bar and the service was very slow to begin with, no staff to actually serve us, until I asked. Would expect a little bit more from a hotel like this.

Loved the gardens and atmosphere at Barnett Hill

The taxi service Barnett Hill uses charged us almost twice as much for the fare to the train station as the taxi service from the station to Barnett Hill. Ridiculous!

We chose this venue as it was close to Loseley Park where we were attending a wedding.
The property is set in stunning grounds and we were in a newly refurbished room. Check in was straight forward and the helpful young man showed us to our room.
Sadly the dining experience was disappointing. My sea bass served with crab and potato was devoid of any taste. Service was very much concentrated on the large wedding reception that was taking place on Friday afternoon/evening.
Shame, as we have stayed at the wonderful Rowhill Grange which is part of the same group and it was a very different experience.

Wanting an anniversary treat in a country house hotel, where we could hopefully relax in tranquil surroundings, i booked the master suite for my wife and I, the most expensive room in the hotel.

Whilst the general hotel, grounds, food and staff were all ok, we were extremely dismayed to find that we were constantly disturbed by loud noise until 130am - drunken guests talking loudly and the bar sounds of bottles being dropped into recycle bins.

A very bad decision to locate the master suite above the hotel bar.

We complained to reception at 1am and again at 130, and next day were only offered that our service charge would be removed.
Do not book the master suite in this hotel if you want a relaxing break and value your sleep

This is mainly a wedding venue with lovely, well-maintained gardens. The staff is very pleasant but management is lacking. Some of the bedrooms are dark, cramped motel-style rooms; others are more spacious and nicely decorated. But both rooms we stayed in had maintenance issues -- broken things in the room that they didn't/wouldn't repair. Breakfast is mediocre to poor. Hamburger served in the bar was awful.

Great Country House, with lots of character. Service was slow /poor - not enough staff on duty. Food is expensive. My bedroom was in an old out building, which was fine, except at night the pathways from the main building to the out buildings were very poorly lit as was the track from the car park to the reception. Better lighting is a required. They need to review their pricing policy, as currently it is over priced for what it offers.

Booked a luxury double, was put in room 18, large room and comfortable but had an infestation of ladybirds and other insects. All over the window and corners of the room. The room was not cleaned properly as these didn't arrive overnight. We went to reception and had to search for a member of staff, after about 10 minutes we where seen and moved to 19 which had a worse infestation than the previous room so was moved to 20 which looked ok but the room was tiny. It was cold and the window wouldn't close so had to wedge with a spoon. So glad we was only there for 1 night. Asked for a refund as put in a smaller room, still waiting for a call back. Breakfast was ok and the grounds are beautiful but lacking in the quality touch you pay for.

Had to change rooms as first one had stairs with only handrail half way up and very steep

Comfortable country hotel outside Guildford

Beautiful setting, just outside Guildford. I stayed in one of the rooms in the Courtyard, which is off the main house. Very comfortable room with good a/c & heating. Great bathroom with new shower. Decent sized bar, although didn't try the food there. Very quick check-in, making this stay for business a simple pleasant process.
