This is a lovely hotel in a nice quiet location when beautiful views

Check-in great and the room had everything you need - be nice to have had a bottle of water.

Restaurant looked great but didn't try it. Lunchtime snacks ok but did think I'd get a fresh cooked club sandwich Not just a cold filling inside water toast.

Spa was great and I look forward to trying i venue in warmer to make use of outside

We stayed for 1 night travelling home from a longer trip. We enjoyed our evening meal. Breakfast was ok, but the toasting conveyor belt was poor & my toast got trapped, I mentioned it to the staff but nothing was done about it. Poor signage to the Reception upon arrival & to additional car parking. Lovely scenic garden from the conservatory.

Lovely stay overall but breakfast needs improving

Lovely hotel that we have stayed in several times. We are pleased the price is reasonable as this matches its current way. Good points- tranquil and gorgeous grounds, lovely rooms and friendly check in, can use spa on the day of check out which is great.
Negative points- breakfast buffet was almost empty and needed a major refill which took quite a while, very limited gluten free offering at breakfast. Spa needs a refresh.

Nice hotel that needs to rethink a few things

Hotel and rooms are comfortable, the car park is poorly laid out and there are either steps or cobbles to get over to access reception. Tried to get a bar meal in the evening, was told only food is in main restaurant, I wanted quick comfort food and not silver service, so went somewhere else for all 3 nights, spoke to some other guys there who all did the same. Would’ve been happy to use pizzeria if it was open. Breakfast was good, but again I wanted something quicker as pushed for time as restaurant doesn’t open until 7am, not sure £18:50 for breakfast is good value. Above or near my room (205) there is a pump (or similar) that runs for a few seconds repeatedly day and night. Gym was well equipped

Everything was great, other than a bit of a damp, fusty smell in the room. It was fine but could do with some attention. Comfy bed, everything we needed, lovely breakfast but don’t leave it too late, things didn’t get restocked ie orange juice, pastries, sourdough. Overall a good stay

Nice property convenient for Haslemere. The first room I was given wasn't very practical for my needs as I had a lot of luggage working away and had to negotiate numerous flights of steps. It also proved to be very noisy however, I moved to a quieter room for the rest of my stay which was excellent. Super friendly staff and nice location. Made use of the gym which is good although sweat towels would be appreciated. Lovely breakfast but sadly didn't make it to the spa. Fridges in the rooms are a huge must especially as it was so hot along with a tidy up of the back parking area but all in all, a nice stay and I would definitely return.

The staff are polite and the rooms clean.

Unfortunately, we were given a room with a disabled shower room and toilet. If you’ve ever tried washing your face in a sink that sits at knee level, it’s not a great look and bad for your back and forehead.

The sauna/gym/pool are good.

It was a shame that you couldn’t sit outside for a drink and to eat as there appears to a known wasp issue and short of wearing protective head gear and carrying a can of Raid, this was impossible.

Otherwise, good locality to Goodwood, for which I’m grateful.

A beautiful gem

Easy check in and loads of parking. The room was absolutely amazing, we were outside so felt like being in a cabin overlooking the garden. Bathroom was huge and clean. Went to the bar in the evening and the service was great. Can't fault this hotel

We had an enjoyable time here but the hotel is just coming into new directors which I think it needs. The spa area was lovely but needs a bit of refreshing. The grounds are stunning. Our room was wonderful! The bed was super comfy and I loved having the option for a bath.
The real let down was the breakfast for me as I’m gluten free. It was very limited options for me! I had a full English (minus the hash brown and sausage as they had gluten). However, there was no gluten free bread so I couldn’t have toast which is poor. There was also no gf cereal, cakes or pastries. It was disappointing. We would come back if it’s a reasonable price and the breakfast offering improves.

Great location for local area. Bar staff need training in how to communicate effectively and clearly. No availability in main restaurant and the pizza restaurant wasn’t even open, but it took them twenty minutes to tell us this after we’d asked for a table. Parking is very limited near main buildings and overflow felt less than secure.

Great stay. Very helpful and friendly staff, good accommodation with nicely fitted, comfortable rooms. The Oak Room restaurant was also very enjoyable. We were hosting some clients before an event at Goodwood and it worked very well for that.

The best part about this stay was the complimentary gym and pool with sauna…the room was a little small but clean. The restaurant for dinner was a very small and expensive menu with no light options and no flexibility on making amends to dishes. Breakfast was disappointing with no yoghurt and compote for most days and I was only asked if I preferred my eggs other than scrambled on the last day.

No alcohol available!

The venue does not have an alcohol licence. This was lost about 5 weeks ago according to staff. Not great when you want a night cap and not advised beforehand. Nothing else around to have a drink.
The staff were very warming and the service was good.
Booked dinner for the second night of the stay. Food was good, service amazing. But they only emailed that day to say about no alcohol available.
Room was ok. The premium room had no heating in the bathroom and was freezing cold. There was also a door to a small patio area for the room, but the door was broken so unable to use.
Whilst the staff were great i would not recommend the hotel.

Upon check in, I requested a room in the ground floor because my companion is not able to go up the stairs and reception managed to move our room from 2nd floor to the ground floor. Thank you!
The room was spacious, very clean and very modernly designed. Breakfast is a buffet with lots of choices and everything delicious. Restaurant dining experience was also great with a bar just next door. Haven’t checked the pool and spa which I missed. Staff are accommodating, friendly and hardworking.
Very convenient with the wedding venue and reception only a minute away which was decorated amazingly beautiful. Overall, it’s a lovely place to stay and I highly recommend it.

Although the premium room was nice the walls were so thin we could hear the people in the next room as if they were in our room with us. The 'spa' looked tired and old was full of raucus children just as you would expect at holiday camp and also people who were not staying at the hotel. No treatments were available and we were told they were all booked up until end of april.
Parking was awful and we were expexted to park in a remote overflow car park full of shipping comtainers. We left without staying as they couldnt offer us an alternative room and were also told we would have to wait for the refund to be authorised by a supervisor. Extremely unhappy with service and ameneties as we travelled a significant distance to get there.

It was overall a good experience and stay.
Staff were friendly.
We arrived at 1:30AM and was stood trying to check in for what felt like an eternity. Some miscommunication and our room was wrong (booked suite and somehow ended up with two single beds pushed together)?

We were upgraded at no extra charge which was really nice, thank you!!

There was more water coming out of the bottom of the shower head than the actual head.

Smelled damp upon entering but aired it out and got used to the smell.

Despite this, staff were great and really added the value to the stay. Thank you again!!

Firstly I would like to say that the staff are working extremely hard but are understaffed or had sickness during our visit. Our check in was 45 minutes late, the room looked nice (502) but bed was uncomfortable, there was no soundproofing in the room at all therefore heard neighbours coughing, talking, walking around and flushing the toilet all throughout the stay and the night. The spa is very dated with need for refurbishment. The jacuzzi was cold and the poolside muddy. The restaurant service was slow due to lack of staff, although the staff were incredible. Some small improvements could really take this hotel up to standard.

It was booked for a birthday gateway, and it was a brilliant trip.

The hotel had a cake and a sweet message waiting in the room. The room itself was beautiful, warm, clean, and spacious. The food options were nice, with plenty of varieties to pick from. Spa was great too. Highly recommended if you want a quiet gateway.

Very much enjoyed our two night stay at New Year. Nice restaurant with great breakfast.
Very well organised New Year event which was good fun.
Decent size pool with sauna and steam room, we didn't try out the other spa facilities though.

The hotel itself is deep in the countryside so it's a 5 minute drive to Haslemere for other dining options. Some lovely walks around the hotel, there's a nearby farm with horses.

Only negative is part of the car park has big potholes, could do with resurfacing.

Overall a great stay

We stayed for 3 nights in a Lodge suite, the room was new and clean, however some signs of neglect around the shower room floor and cobwebs in the skylight windows, but overall good condition throughout, very quiet due to the position of the bedroom, no immediate neighbours either side, which was amazing given we were travelling with a toddler and were probably a bit noisy very early in the morning. The hotel has been refurbished fairly recently. All staff was friendly, the breakfast was very good, we ordered room service on one of the nights and the food was alright but it was a bit unclear how/to whom you order, more clarity would help.
The pool area was good, pool water temperature was warm, the spa was fully booked, so we didn’t try it but it seemed busy.
Waitrose 4 min drive away, convenient for some shopping.
Plenty of parking.
Some little issues like our room was never added to the breakfast list, so we had to explain every day, the room service instructions as mentioned above and some cleaning issues, but nothing that couldn’t be fixed easily, overall I would stay again.

Beautiful hotel, great for a short break. Would be lovely for a wedding venue. Lovely clean, modern room with chic bathroom. Nice pool and spa area. Facial treatment with Theresa was one of the best I've ever had. Food great, especially breakfast. Only minor irritation was that we asked twice, once on booking and again at the table, for one person to have no cheese or butter on their Afternoon Tea, but it still came up with butter on..... And also we had to ask for plates (!) and sugar for the coffee....... Overall, a great stay.

Poor standards of hygiene / customer service

Tested positive for Covid on day of visit. Refused to cancel reservation (or offer any alternative date or discount) and insisted over phone that it’s all fine to still come and no problem using all facilities. Zero duty of care or concern for their staff or other hotel guests. Used IHG hotels for a long time and used to be good, although cleanliness and customer service has really gone downhill recently. Would have real concern if you’re considering booking and in a med / high health risk category PS: I didn’t end up going to the hotel out of personal concern for their staff and guests, although a shame this is not their priority too

Brilliant place to stay

This is a recently opened hotel but based in converted buildings. Its great. Lovely spacious rooms (we had a suite) and fully equipped. Housekeeping was first class and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our only little niggle was the lack of selection for vegetarian/vegans. We werr staying 3 nights and my wife had only two meals to choose from. That said, we mentionex it to the waiter and tje chef immediately came up with a delicious meal not on the menu. Thats service.

Had a lovely two day stay, the hotel didn't have us registered for brekki so that was a bit embarassing in the morning trying to figure that out and the spa/gym wasn't open when they said it would be. However the team were amazing and helped with those minor things.
Food was so lovely, service was really, really good!
We loved the decor of the room but it was very noisy, you could hear everything in the hallway and the rooms above us. Really good drinks selection at the bar and a lovely space to enjoy them in.
The hotel views were so lovely and it was such a relaxing vibe.

Charged me again for the room when I got there and then tried to charge us in the morning as we left. Shower flooded the bathroom and their were bugs in the drain. Dinner wasn't worth what we paid and neither was breakfast.

I’m a 54 year old black British professional person. I stayed here with my 8 year old daughter for one night as an end of term treat. First, I booked a suite and upon arrival was “upgraded” to a room on top of the restaurant. I asked the receptionist to book a table at the restaurant as I thought the restaurant would be full. That night the restaurant was virtually empty but the staff member kept asking me if I booked and I had to repeat my surname several times. We were finally served and it took two hours for us to get out of there. The service was extremely slow. We had to head for the door to get our bill. Then my daughter could not sleep because of the noise coming from the restaurant and bar. The noise did not stop until we’ll past 11 pm. Then the spa. First the spa is very old and in dire need of refurbishing. We were told by Eden (a lovely polite girl) that we needed to hire dressing gowns and £15 each fur the day. I have never heard of such a thing. The following day at the spa we had a different girl from Eden who spoke to to me in such condescending terms I was left shocked. Terrible manners. If there is any sophistication at this place it was not afforded to my daughter and I by that girl at the pool. All in all I found it cold, passive aggressive and full of inverted snobbery. I wish them the best of luck but wild horses would not take me back there.

Smart looking, separate buildings, interesting

Didn't miss the turn into entrance. Parking was easy. Recommend overflow , left near the pizzeria, lovely polite looking view. Reception easy to find and fast informed desk. Stayed in main block, well numbered. No lift/elevator I don't think (needs confirming)....work renovation at entrance of block was a little off putting but room very spacious, clean looking, towels , irons, kettles ect all in good order.. window view not up to much but Surrey area obviously has nice views all over... Breakfast was a little confusing if paid with room and also a bit extra unnecessary cost but a good continental (get there before 9am) full breakfast was light on doubling up on eggs sausage type thing though....WiFi and location was ideal.. bar is quaint with fire place.
All staff smilingly getting on with there shifts... Some making more efforts than others.
Steam Room and poolside in condition for its age..bright large window views..warm water..bubble bath continuous meaning no jumping up or out to reset it again... Sauna was out of order unfortunately. Changing rooms clean, reception girl at spa polite and informative, well tidy, the walk to spa from hotel was mainly gravel so maybe a path or hardened waypoint would be advised.
Check out easy too. Kind regards.

An honest review.

Room was nice even though it wasn’t finished eg holes in ceiling, no plug socket near kettle. The walls are very thin in the Tudor building.

Worst part was the unfriendly and unprofessional staff. The girl at check in did not provide a warm welcome after our two hour drive to get there, she was extremely stuck up and rude. Treated us like peasants. They give you a map to go and find your room. We were in 501 and they hide the sign behind a door frame. The Eastern European women at the Tudor restaurant was also rude, unprofessional and looked down at us, and again no warm welcome, cold natured with a natural inability to crack a smile.

But worst was the divering old pensioner they have at breakfast time, before you get seated for breakfast you have to stand in the dining room amongst the guests having there breakfasts waiting for him to finish his chats with the other pensioners then he’ll shuffle over to you and ask how many for breakfast, then he’ll wander off to tell off a waitress, then shuffle back to you and ask how many for breakfast then before showing you to your seats he’ll point and explain what all the food is and where it is then you can sit down, then as it’s a buffet, get back up and try and navigate through the tiny dining room.
You’ll have to wait in line for everything, tea, toaster, hot food etc.

Probably will try this place again as the over half liked it but in a few years so all the current disinterested staff have moved on or been sacked.

Wonderful period hotel and great value!

We stayed overnight as we were visiting my brother and his family in nearby Petworth.
We didnt have time to try out the spa facilities but the receptionist offered it to us and unfortunately we had to decline, but will definitely try out the spa and pool next time we stay.
Everything was great with the exception of the heating in our room. It was very warm. We tried to adjust the room stat, but eventually we turned down the TRV stat on the radiator.
The room was very clean with large tv. The bathroom facilities were clean and modern. There was tea and coffee and kettle in the room with plentiful supplies.
All in all, excellent value for money and will definitely stay again.

We arrived for a one night stay on 4th February to outstanding views and a beautiful location. Checked in to reception with friendly staff. Unfortunately it all went downhill when we arrived in our room. A very large cobweb greeted us on the ceiling which had clearly been there for a long time. Bath panel left on floor and shower unusable as hose was broken. Walls very grubby!!! We were there for a function and as they are having renovation work done in the function room the toilets were outside up a ramp in the dark. I have emailed hotel and still waiting for a reply!!! We paid £225 for the night but we would have had better facilities in a premier inn for cheaper!!!

Our main complaint was a very poorly prepared room. No toilet paper, tissues. Light next to bed didn’t work bathroom door didn’t shut properly. TV didn’t tune in to BBC and to top it of no phone to ask for things to be rectified so had to walk outside to reception in pouring rain, down unlit slippery steps. I found the strong smell of paint not good.
Spa was fine but had to ask for steam room, sauna not working. Food was good as was bar and catering service.

We had a brilliant New Year's Eve at Lythe Hill. The evening was great fun, but the staff made it super special. There was a mix up on our room but, without fuss, we were upgraded to one of the newly renovated lodges, which my girls loved, check in and out was easy and friendly and all the event staff were helpful and cheerful. I'd really recommend both the hotel and the events as we had a memorable start to 2023!

Food and service were really good. Spa was ok but changing room in need of updating- none of the lockers worked. Room was ok but tired, scratched doors, veneer on dressing table chipped off, plaster chipped off on wall.

In need of better upkeep

My three night stay was mostly excellent. General facilities, staff friendliness and service, and food, all very good. In parts it looked like the facilities needed some care and upkeep. It is understood that the hotel has very recently come into new ownership. Perhaps the previous owners were holding back on investment. My stay coincided with the recent heatwave and my room was unbearably hot. However, the windows were only able to open about one inch. This needs to be addressed and consideration given to fitting air conditioning. The hotel is a gem in a beautiful location. Much more could be made of it rather than cutting corners. Hope the new owners invest wisely.

Facilities are nice, but lack ventilation. We arrived on a warm summer evening, and our room was boiling. Tiny windows and little fans did not help. It was very difficult to sleep in the stifling heat, lying naked on top of our beds. So do not visit in the summer!

The hotel did not live up to my expectations based on the previous reviews. The bedroom was small but comfortable the public areas were clean and airy.
It’s my opinion that the hotel was mainly for weddings and functions rather than casual guests. The restaurant was poor, the food was not cooked or presented as described on the menu.
The reception staff could not be bothered to say good morning when we walked past to breakfast but were happy to talk with the wedding guests.
The rooms were expensive and I would recommend looking elsewhere as there is plenty of choice.

Overall a nice hotel. Facilities in the room were good apart from limited power sockets.
Bathroom was tired and needed updating. It was large with 2 sinks and walk in shower. The shower worked ok, sinks were old and drainage needed attention. There was no electric shaver point.

Great location and amenities, however, there is always room for improvement. Staff were friendly and helpful, the gym, the pool and the dinning experienced were all great but its lacking something . . . I am sorry but despite the hospitality, the one thing missing was connection. I didn't feel connected despite the conversations I had with various staff. Its not a negative thing but something to improve. We visited the neighbouring areas in Surrey and there was that genuine helpful connection with their customers.

This is probably my 6 or 7th stay, although this the first in over two years.

It remains when the price is right, one of the best hotels that I stay in.

Rooms are big and beds great.

Main building is beautiful.

Gym and spa are good too.

Stay was good. Room was lovely. However, the bathroom could do with some TLC ... ceiling had black mould, the seal on the shower screen could do with being replaced as water leaked all over floor when in shower. There is also a hole in the wall behind main door to room that needs repairing. Otherwise staff were lovely, and the food delicious.

Was a lovely hotel, nice for 1 night, would of preferred a bigger room, but none available when booked. Pool was freezing cold long with bubble pool. Facilities quite dated.
Unfortunately fire alarm went off at 3.00am luckily false alarm. Perhaps a small refund for the inconvenience.

Lovely location with woods and fields around. Nice dinner of fish and meatloaf.

Sadly the room (Anne of Cleaves room) was above the restaurant and as a result was so so noisy in the evening - so disappointing having paid so much for the room.

In addition there was only a bath tub in the room without any shower extension (even a short one) to be able to simply wash our hair while sitting in the bath.

The indoor swimming pool was nice.

Cleanliness not up to scratch!

We arrived and nobody was there to greet us on reception. We had to wait for 10 minutes as the receptionist had gone to the toilet. The reception area was filthy and clearly had not been swept or cleaned that day and unfortunately this appeared to be the case throughout all the communal areas. The room was clean enough though. The restaurant doors were filthy which didn't give a good impression. The pool was very cold in the spa so we were not able to use that or the jacuzzi as that was also the same temperature. All in all the cleanliness was a problem and was still the same on the Monday when we checked out.

Enjoyable, peaceful stay

We had an enjoyable 3 night stay - 2 adults and a 6 & 8 year old. We pre booked our swimming pool slots (covid requirement to manage numbers) which worked well. The staff were friendly. Breakfast in the tudor building was lovely - much better than breakfast in the function room. The hotel is in a pretty location, the bed was really comfortable but the rooms and pool are looking a little tired. However, this didnt impact our stay.

Beautiful setting. Spa lovely & treatment i had was excellent.
