Convenient location, near to both metro and JR line.
The room is small, but clean. Can get a little cold due to no heater. I'm out most of the time for sightseeing, only need the room for shower and sleep, so... overall, no complaint with the price I'm paying.
The receptions are nice and polite.

The hotel is situated in a great location near to Asakusabashi and Akihabara stations and easy to travel around Tokyo by subway. The hotel staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. I would stay there again and also recommend to others.

This is an older hotel with very small rooms. The beds are extremely hard and many rooms are hot and are smoking rooms. If you want a cheap place to stay, this is ok, but don't expect a great stay.

This hotel isn't bad for budget accommodation. The rooms are clean but extremely tiny. The interior is dated and daggy looking and there was some clutter in the hallways. The bathroom is a nightmare as it's so cramped, you can barely stand up in there let alone get dressed. Awful pillows. The ones we had were like big bags of rice in a pillow case. Good location, lots of food, vending machines and convenience stores around and the train station is a 2 min walk away. I'd recommend it if you just want somewhere Cheap to sleep at night. If you're looking for something fancy best to look elsewhere

Small but safe and quiet.

If you like to sit in your hotel and enjoy the ambiance, this is not the hotel for you. But if you are on a budget and plan to be out seeing Tokyo most of the time, then it is ok. The room is very, very small, the beds are hard and close to the ground, and the walls were kind of dirty. But, the a/c worked well, it has a private bath (again, small) where everything worked, and they left fresh kimono and slippers for you. Best of all, it is very close to metro station Asakusabashi. We took the train from the airport and easily dragged our bags to the hotel. Staff was friendly and spoke enough English to get by, and they offered us umbrellas to take out when it was raining.

Convenient location to several train stations, especially one direct to Narita Airport. Many reasonably priced restaurants within minutes walk. Small and cosy room with everything you need. Staff are helpful and speak English well enough to assist with anything.

Cozy hotel near to JR Lines and Akihabara

1. Close to the Sobu (Chuo-Sobu) Line Asakusabashi Station.

2. One train station from Akihabara, and a 10min train ride (with transfer) to Ameyokocho.

3. Near enough to Sensoji, a few stops away on the Asakusa Subway Line.

4. Nothing has changed much from my previous stays with them. Still a pleasant stay with them, without much hassle. Has a number of eateries and convenience stores nearby.

The room was a little small, I would not recommend bring a lot of luggage with you. Otherwise you will have trouble fitting everything in.

However besides that, the room is clean and the location is superbe. Tokyo station is only 3 JR stations away. Akihabara is 1 JR station away. You can get to Shinjuku within 15 mins if you hop on the JR rapid line. You can get to Sensoji in a few metro stops. I would recommend my friends to stay there.

Don't book this hotel!

We stayed one night to fill the gap during our two weeks stay in Japan. The Wifi was not strong enough for practical use. The killing point was the dirty blankets. They were over used and with human hairs from private parts! We end up with covering ourselves with one bed sheet! Never will book this hotel again!

10 days in Tokyo are not to be spent in a hotel room if you're on a budget. So this is a great option for anyone looking not to spend too much time inside and most of your time getting to know Tokyo. Right next to the main metro line, food, and all the sight seeing this metropolis can offer.

Not a bad stay to rest after a long day of walking

Great little hotel, only 5 minutes walk from Asakusabashi train station. Quite a small room, but sufficient for those that spend most of their days out exploring. Plenty of convenience stores around (2mins walk), small supermarket (3mins walk), and located in a quiet peaceful suburb.

I spent a lot of time in Akihabara, so the closeness of Asakusabashi in general in addition to the closeness of the hotel to the station was amazing.
There are also a fair few great food places along the street to the station, check them out!
As for the hotel itself...
Without fail our rooms were always cleaned when we got home at night. We had no issues with the staff and things like towels and toilet paper were always replaced on time.
The rooms are very small, but you grow into them. The pillow is pretty hard too.
I would definitely recommend it though. Great experience, very happy customers. Good for the money too.

A Great Value

The Hotel Yanagibasi was a great value for the price. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean, and the location was excellent. There is a Tokyo metro station as well as a JR station about five minutes from the hotel on foot. There are also a number of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. The hotel does not offer much in the way of amenities, but there is free wifi available in the rooms. Overall, staying here was a great experience, and it is a fantastic option if you want an affordable hotel in Tokyo.

The hotel is very closely located to a train / Toei metro station, so getting to for example Asakusa or other parts of Tokyo is easy. Located in a very safe looking neighbourhood, with 2 24 hour supermarket within 1 minute walk. Hotel itself is quite small, but what to expect in Tokyo? The price tag was great, considering average price within Tokyo, but the size of the room was just barely OK. Huge refigerator in room is nice! All in all - this hotel is recommended, if you do what we did - getting up very early, and spending the whole day sightseeing, so just using the room for a bath and good nights sleep.

Warning! What to expect...The walls are so thin I could hear the conversation in the next room WORD FOR WORD. If people in next room even walked or moved it was loud. Room smelled completely like Icy/Hot sports creme. The bed comforter was so thin I was cold all night. No outlet plugs near the bed at all. Had a good sized refrigerator. Bathroom was tiny even by business hotel standards. I would not stay here again even if the room was free. WiFi was very slow. Staff were courteous and spoke English.

At a pinch, a place to stay in Asakusabashi

We booked this hotel as there were few options for the days we were there. Its a business hotel which I think is code that its for people who simply want a place to sleep with no frills at all. If you are desperate this place will suffice - but thats the best I can say about it.

It has a mom and pops feel to it so don't expect to have a full service concierge. However the staff is friendly and helpful. They helped me call my previous hotel to ask if I had left my shoes. The actually building looks run down but the rooms are kept clean. There is only one small washer and dryer so be aware. The lift is quite small so don't expect to fit big bags and many people in one try. The location was great as it was close to many points of interest and was surrounded by a small shopping area and food stands/locations were easy to find. Had very good and affordable sushi in that neighborhood.

Really solid value for money

You're situated about 3 minutes' walk from Asakusabashi station, which grants you access to the JR Chuo-Sobu line (that means you can use your Japan Rail Pass on it for free).

If you're interested in Shibuya and Shinjuku, you're about 25 minutes away by public transport, but you're only 1 stop (5 mins) away from Akihabara, the \"electric town\" district famed for its electronics and anime roots. So it's really a matter of preference.

The hotel itself isn't the most magical place - unless you count the high-tech toilet - but my room was very clean, the toiletries were ample, and the staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful (and spoke pretty good English to boot).

All in all, highly recommended

Good enough for me

This place has everything I need! As i was traveling by myself , all I need was a clean bed , my own bathroom and in decent location .

The room is not big( I don't expect a big room in Japan ). Nice and comfortable bed , hot water & the most I like was the location. Only 2 mins walk from the subway station , 5 mins from the JR . Restaurants all around the place , 7-11 right around the corner . Will definitely stay here again when I visit Tokyo .

Reasonable price for solo traveler

-Very near to JR Asakusabashi station/subway. Just exit Exit A1, take the lift up and cross roads til u see a convenient store, turn left and you will see the Hotel. 1 stop to Akihabara where you can go anywhere from.
-Hotel has all the necessities for a solo person like me: Bath towel, face towel, shampoo, body soap, TV, hot water boiler etc. However, there are no toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, shaver so do bring your own.
-TV has quite a lot of channels, esp Tokyo-MX which is good for animes etc.
-Neighborhood is pretty quiet with stores like Matsuya, Hidaka-ya, 2 good Soba place and a tempura shop. Burger King is around the corner also. There is a Lawson across and a Sunkus nearby.
-Overall a good hotel with reasonable prices and convenience

For the first time to Tokyo, Japan, we did know where to book. This is a budget hotel, with everything that comes along with it. There are train stations near, and stores and shopping. I must say the hotel was a Mom & Pop/ family type, as is the area. The area had local stores, street mall, and mom and pop restaurants that were pretty good and budget--in fact when I go to Tokyo again, I plan on visiting the area for food. My husband and I are larger than average. If you are large, this is not for you. You have to say excuse me, close doors, climb over stuff to get to everything. It is extra small. Even the doors are small. The bathroom is extra small. Everything about it was cumbersome. The bed sat low-low. Our room was by an alley way . . . where you can hear people walking . . . The staff however, were extra nice, gave one on one attention, and went out of their way to accommodate, and very helpful. Finding a hotel in Tokyo depends on your likes and what you are willing to give up (size is definitely a factor in most hotels from what I understand). Mom & pop didn't speak English, but their son did. Overall I would give it one raised eyebrow lol!

Perfect For Diving into Tokyo.

The hotel is very close to Asakusabashi Station which gives you easy access to Akihabara, Asakusa, The Sky Tree and the rest of Tokyo.

It's quiet and clean, and the hotel staff is friendly.

The rooms, in comparison to American hotels, are small, but considering the premium on land, it's understandable. I'm 6'2\", and was fine.

So, the hotel isn't much, it's small and nothing fancy. But the rooms are impeccably clean and it's in a great location for traveling around. My absolute favorite part though were the owners! My cousin and I were walking out to go somewhere one night, and they stopped us to give us some food and some drinks. They gave a level of hospitality that I've never seen in a hotel. I felt like I was a guest in their own home! If you're staying in Tokyo, I definitely recommend Hotel Yanagibashi!

Good budget hotel

Make no mistake--this is a budget hotel. The room was very small--3m by 4m including tiny bath. However, the room was clean, A/C worked, location is convenient to a metro station, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Hardest part was finding the place: If you are on foot, use Exit A from Asakusabashi Station. You will be within 2 blocks if you show one of the locals the hotel name in Japanese, they can point you there.

Great location at a good price

For the reasonable price I paid I have no complaints. For what it is, Hotel Yanagibasi delivers on expectations. Super close the Asakusabashi station. Go out exit A-1 and turn left and walk straights. It is down a side street off the main road so when you get to the Sunkust convenience store turn left and walk down the street. The hotel will be on your right.

I know it is in Tokyo, and I get what I paid for. But personally, I feel it is more depressing than staying in an average motel 6. For examples, There is only one small window, facing the exterior wall of neighbor's building only two feet away. The bedroom is not much bigger than the mattress itself. Location is convenient though.

First off, I should say that \"room comfort\" is probably relative to what country you are coming from originally. As a Canadian, I was not accustomed to the tiny size of the room and even tinier size of the bathroom, as I did not see many other rooms, they *may* have some that were larger. However, as a relatively short girl (5'4\"), I'm not used to banging my head on the bathroom door when I sit on the \"loo\" so it was a bit of an adjustment to say the least, so just be prepared if you are used to North American sized accommodations, if you are 6'+ I'm not entirely sure you'd even fit.
That being said, once we got used to it, it was like a nice cozy \"cave\" (as my son put it) that was quite nice to come back to after a busy and often loud day roaming around Tokyo.
The staff, was amazing :) We had one fellow in particular that often seemed to be working the desk when we went out in the morning and almost always when we got back, and since you have to leave your key when you go out, he got to know us and always had it ready when he saw us coming, it was like being at the Cheers of hotels! He was always eager to help us out with whatever we needed and did his best to understand our broken Japanese/English mash of communication. We even received gifts from the owner when we checked out! It was so sweet.
The location is excellent, it's a 5 minute walk to Asakusabashi station which will get you anywhere you want to go. Quiet and off the main street it was just what we needed :)

Great hotel in central location

Overall I had a great stay at Hotel Yanagibasi. The room was very simple although it had all the necessities. The staff were fantastic and very friendly. They made our stay in Tokyo very pleasant.

The hotel was also situated in a very good location just one stop away from Akihabara Station from Asakusabashi station.

I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be back on my next trip to Japan!

Excellent Budget Hotel

The hotel was very easy to find, and only a 3 minute walk from Asakusabashi station. Loved the neighborhood! Great for walking around. Staff is very helpful & friendly. There is a nice selection of neighborhood maps & sightseeing pamphlets in a rack in the lobby. Well, it isn't really a lobby, so much as a front desk at the end of an entry corridor -- not really any place to wait around if you arrive before check-in. But, in our case, they let us into the room an hour and a half early.

If you have huge pieces of luggage, the tiny room may be a problem -- or if you're really big, fitting into the small bathroom might be a problem -- but the size wasn't a problem for us. The room was clean. The water in the shower was hot. The queen-size double bed was comfortable & we slept well.

Services include free wi-fi, 3 powerpoints, a lan, fridge, chair, table, tea, toiletries, yukata, sinker tub with detachable shower nozzle, tv with main channels + BS, phone, coat rack, hairdryer, clock, tissues etc. People have commented that room size is small, however this isn`t the case, I was surprised by how big room was. I think they have not stayed in Tokyo before..
Location. 2 blocks from JR station and less to subway, Tokyo is 7 minutes. Sobu gets to Akiba in a minute, where transfer to Yamanote line. So, it is perfect for those wishing to stay in Tokyo. Asakusabashi many old buildings, gives it that price point and charm. konbini open 24h, so is Sukiya and other restaurants, mangakis + jansou. izakaya and bars nearby. Highly rated places like Pizzeria Enzo, also some Indo restaurants towards Nihonbashi and Akihabara. Small walk away is Hamacho park, walkways along Sumida river. Opposite hotel, is the Asakusabashi canal where there boats that offer trips.
Room cleaning is from 10-12:30 or something. The cleaning ladies were really cheerful and nice, they do a thorough job. Laundry is coin operated, 200 for wash 100 for dry. The desk operates from 6:30-1:00, where you may meet Sumiko, the owner`s daughter, who is very eager to speak English. She even gave me a gift when we left! There is also a free to use meeting area and internet room at the lobby.

Cheap and close to Central Tokyo

Neat clean and no frills with friendly staff and close to Tokyo's 'Electric Town' to explore your inner otaku. Cheap and within 5 minute walk of the subway and JR lines. Also one stop from the Sumo stadium, Ryogoku Kokugikan

I like yanagibasi hotel, the staff is friendly and kind for help. there is a 24hr supermarket and lawson that you can buy some food and midnight snack. it's so convenient that I will go back at April.

The Staff's amenity is great and friendly. Although the room is not so wide we feel cozy indeed. There is some restaurants and 24hr supermarket beside. It's so convenient that we will go back next Tokyo travel.

Small hotel but great location.

We stayed here for the second year in a row, mainly because of the location and the comfort of the hotel. It's not fancy or big, but has a family run feel to it and it's very clean. Everything was as we expected and we were not disappointed in anything. It's very close to the station and only a stop away from Akihabara, where we spent a lot of time shopping. It's easy to find and there were plenty of small restaurants in the area to chose from. I would go there again.

Perfect for the price

Only 1 block from the Asakusabashi station (JR and Tokyo Metro stop), and a 15 minute walk to Akihabara. The rooms are small but almost all rooms in Japan are small by American standards unless you stay at a $200+ Western hotel. They were very accommodating by holding our luggage as we stayed with them for 2 nights then traveled around the country for a week before returning to stay with them again for a few more nights.

Hotel just next to JR station and subway

though it is a little far from main shopping center like Shinsujku or Shibuya, it is located next to the JR and subway where you can travel there within 30 min.

My room is small and the only window is facing the wall of another building so not much sunlight even in the morning. The wall is quite thin that I can hear the TV of the next room.

The room is clean in general and the price is unbeatable. If I am on budget I will stay there again.

Lot of bang for the buck

This place is perfect for the budget traveler. It was comfortable, clean and the staff was very helpful. The price was great for Tokyo and for being only 10 minutes by train away from some other major stations. I would definitely stay here again.

For the price, it doesn't get much better. Sure the rooms are small, but it's just somewhere to sleep. Direct access to both airports via subway and easy access to anywhere else with 2 nearby stations. Very friendly staff add to a pleasant stay. Would definitely stay here again.

Pleasant stay

I stayed in the hotel Yanagaibasi for 7 nights. During my stay I made two side trips to Kyoto and Nagoya. The staff held my luggage in storage during that time.

The hotels owner are very friendly and helpful. Even the the owners themselves don't speak English there is always a staff member available who does speak English.

The hotel is very clean. The room is adequate for one person. It is a quiet neighborhood. Access to the Asakabashi subway is only minutes away. There are many convenience stores in the neighborhood.

I would highly recommend this hotel.

Small but clean hotel with convenient location

We stayed there for only one night; the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful (obviously they know the area very well). The room was small but big enough for two persons with three bags. They have free wifi as well.

The most important factor for us is the location: it is 5 minutes walk from the train station and very close to the the shopping areas.

Good access to Highlights of Tokyo

Room was very small as expected for the price we paid. Staff were friendly and helpful. They forwarded our luggage to Kyoto, via Takkyubin luggage service, at very reasonable cost. Very close to Asakasabashi Station so it was easy and quick to get to Tokyo Station for Shinkansen connections. Close to Akihabara, Ryogoku for Sumo Championship and Skytree. Convenience store and several inexpensive eating places between hotel and station.

I reserved a non-smoking twin room, but I received a room with cigarete smell. The wall was dirty. The washroom (toilete) was extremely small and very uncomfortable; and water did not drain well in the bathtub. The phone did not work for outbound calls. It was not worth the money. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Close to subway and JR station

Great location next to both train stations which is handy if that's how you are going to travel around Tokyo. Also the train from Haneda stops on this line.
Owners are very friendly and gave me a departing gift.
