The androids manning the check-in definitely feels like a gimmick more than anything else, but the whole self-service system works pretty well for the most part. The room itself was overall good. It was cozy, but everything was up to a pretty good standard. TV was a good size, HDMI port was accessible if you wanna connect a laptop. And the bathroom was pretty good.
Luggage storage was available, which was great. Laundry on the 2nd floor got the job done.
The location is fantastic. Akihabara is one stop away by train, or just a quick 20 minute walk if you're too scared to tackle the trains right away. But when you do, Asakusabashi station is relatively quiet compared to most, so you can figure it all out without too much pressure.

Very glad we had this as our first stop after landing in Japan, as it was the perfect area to get our bearings for the trip ahead. Solid recommendation.

Check in is okay, just different because it's a robot but there is staff available when needed. Staff are helpful. Room is clean, location is close to station. Breakfast could be better. No offense but I prefer Japanese breakfast instead of Indian cuisine. The first floor is smelly due to the breakfast. We have free breakfast for 2 days but prefer to go out somewhere for better one. Other than that, overall great experience.

Very close to Asakusabashi station. Only downfall was the limited offering for amenities and services when checking in. I did not realize it was a “robot” hotel so I struggled for a bit at check-in (which was my fault), but was a little nervous leaving my baggage in the hallway lobby for “storage” before I checked in.

The location was great - so close to a train station and with so many dining and drinking options. I loved that it was within somewhat walking distance (26 minutes) to Kappabashi kitchen street. The downsides were that the room was cramped with a giant steamer taking up space, there was no storage (just 4 hangers), and their safe didn't work. But the bare bones amenities seem to be typical of \"business hotels\". You basically live out of your luggage and don't have a spot to lay out your clothes. You also never see any staff because the front desk is a couple of robots.
Other than those minor things, I would stay here again because of the great location.

A good option for budget travellers

The hotel is located near the Asakusabashi station. It is closer to the JR west exit than the other exits nearby, including the subway. It was within walking distance of Akihbara as well, so it was convenient to access shopping and dining options, and was quite central in terms of visiting other locations of interest within Tokyo.

Upon arrival at the airport, the reception is not staffed, but instead is outfitted with talking dolls. It was quite...creepy... when I first arrived. It was not immediately obvious what I should do and what I should expect. I figured it out, but I think it was better to not have the dolls in the first place and just have an automated system.

It was also very strange for the hotel to ask for the hotel tax at check in rather than including it with the room rate upon booking.

My impression is that the hotel is quite budget conscious. For example, while guests were allowed to retrieve their own amenities from a common area at reception, no tea powder was offered, which I thought was standard at such hotels in Japan. Another example is when I booked a room with 3 beds, the hotel only provided linen for 2, which has never happened in any of my hotel stays in the past. They wanted additional money for the 3rd guest, which was fine, but this could have been made clearer during the booking process.

Despite that, the wifi worked well and the hotel room was clean. I had a good night's rest.

This is a no service hotel by using eco friendly. No receptionist, only limited room service even stayed in for four nights.

Rooms are extremely small, even by Japanese business hotel standards. Check in and out is done at automated kiosks while human staff are available on request by phone. No property amenities beyond 2 laundry machines and bag lockers. Rooms are sparse and beds are thin and uncomfortable while curtains are translucent and let in the sun. Only positive points are the excellent location 3 minute walk from the station with many restaurants, and that many rooms have an LG Styler steam closet, allowing you to conveniently clean a few pieces of clothing at a time.

I really enjoyed my stay at Henn Na hotel. It was very convenient for public transport around Tokyo (you could see the Asakusabashi station platform from the room!). It was clean, quiet and comfortable as well as being reasonably priced. Breakfasts were also good.

Love the room I got. Twin bed in a single room. Rather narrow but it works for an average sized person with 1 luggage. Hotel is very simple, very self-service. On the 2nd floor (which is the reception area), there is a baggage storage area you can conveniently leave your luggages at if it’s not time for you to check in to your room yet, and there is a microwave for guests’ use, vending machines for drinks, and a laundry room for guests’ use. If you don’t need much hotel service, this hotel is perfect. Highly recommend for solo travellers as it is a mere 2 mins walk to Asakusabashi station east exit, hence very convenient and safe. Saw a few families as well, I guess it works for small families (up to 4 pax?) The only problem I faced was I wanted to use the kettle to boil water, but the spout was dusty… so I didn’t get any hot water during my stay unfortunately. Other than this, I’ll still come back to this hotel for my solo trips to Tokyo.

Hotel was great & clean overall. It's conveniently located near 2-3 subway lines and lots of small local restaurants nearby. Our reservation was for 2 adults and a 13 yr old daughter for a TwinExtra room.
HOWEVER, after checking in, we found that the sofa bed had no bedding/pillow so we asked the staff to provide. We were told that a child is under age 3 and we had to pay EXTRA 2000yen/day for our daughter to stay. On their website, for the TWINEXTRA rooms have [Capacity] 3 adults 2 children under 6 !! Why did we get charged more?? It was not that much but I feel we shouldn't be paying for it when website says the room can hold 3 adults 2 kids (under 6). Minus a star.

Everything about this hotel is good; not too fancy, but you have everything that you need, and you can tell that everything has been thoughtfully chosen, and placed to suit your traveling needs. I really liked HenNa, I wish that I had stayed longer and would definitely reccomend it to young professionals traveling alone, but I also saw a few small families there as well so I believe they are accommodated as well. Check in is efficient and easy in many languages, but the kind staff can help you if needed. I liked this hotel, if I return I will stay again; a connected resturant provides Japanese breakfast and very good Indian curry for lunch as well.

Just 2-3 minutes walk to a Asakusabashi station and the train line can bring me straight to Haneda!

And the best thing is their baggage storage function, I can leave my luggage at hotel for free when I check out. As long as I take it back anytime before 23.59pm same day which suit me very well because I have a night flight.

The check in and out process is good, i don’t need any assistance anyway.

Small room but after moving away the 2 chairs, I can leave open 2 baggage under the table. Can’t complain with the price.

I never stay in a hotel with dirty quilt cover. The provided quilt cover was not cleaned properly and was stained with dirt. I stayed there for 3 days, request for room clean up but they didn't change my bedsheet and quilt cover at all after my first night. The location of the hotel is great but I would never stay there if I will travel to Japan again. And the robot is not really a surprise. It just like a self serviced hotel.

I liked the location of the property and ADORED the breakfast. This hotel was very clean and the staff are responsive. We are very close to nearby train stations and the neighborhood is safe and beautiful. However, the rooms are quite small and it was disappointing when the robots didn't actually work for us to check in. While the robots are cool to look at and watch, they glitched when I scanned my passport to check in so a human had to come out and help me. Nonetheless, I would stay here again, good value for money!

So, the rooms are clean and tidy, very good bathrooms (size wise) and the location is excellent as it's only 1 minute from the local JR and subway lines... but that's about it.

Not so good.

The robot check in is a gimmick, I should have known this but they are basically fairground attractions. Didn't do much to help and the entire check in process can be done like any other hotel we used on our trip. It's all done on a touch screen which can simply be read.

Facilities wise the website states that they offer extra pillows and blankets 'for rental'. After asking the staff downstairs (because you can't ask the robots...) we were simply told that there aren't any extra pillows and that was that. No explanation, just no, not available. This was the only hotel of many in Japan where these were not available to us.

There is an Indian restaurant downstairs which has shared access to the hotel in the lobby. I love Indian food and I am sure it's a nice place to eat but the lobby smells of cooking / spices 24 hours a day and so do the elevators.

We actually considered checking out of this hotel on day one but couldn't find anywhere at short notice so had to stay.

We used several other hotel chains across many places in Japan and this one was the most disappointing one by far.

If the above was addressed and the robots were actually useful, it would be OK. Until then I would avoid this place, there are much better options.

The automation of the hotel was quite interesting with the robots checking you in. I did have an issue with that system not taking my passport correctly, but the staff assisted me quite quickly. The room was small, but it was kind of expected. Our biggest issue with 3 adults was luggage space. Room cleanliness was probably our biggest issue as we found a little bit of trash and a pair of socks on the side of one of the beds. But overall, it was a good stay! I would definitely consider staying here again just based on convenience of location.

受付横にチェックイン前やチェックアウト後にスーツケースを預けられるようになっているところ、ランドリールームがあるところなど良かったです。場所も駅からすぐ、コンビニやレストランも周りにたくさんあり便利。
ただチェックアウトの11時までギリギリまで部屋にいたかったので「don't disturb」サインを出していたにもかかわらず、10:40頃ノックとほぼ同時にドアを開けられたことがすごく嫌でした。着替えの最中だったらと思うと本当にクレーム物です。開けたのは男性スタッフでしたし、私は女性です。

Robot reception as a selling point. But it cant provide you a customization service. Ended up a human staff still came over to assist. Hotel bed is hard. Room size is small but expected as you are at Japan unless u went Hokkaido.
I will not stay again as many other choices, for example Hotel Rose Garden Nishi shunjuku which i highly recommended.

Check in process was long because the robots weren't recognising the passport so a staff member had to come and sort it out. Also didn't like the fact if we wanted to leave our bags there after checking out you had to pay. No hotel I've ever stayed that has required that. The room was tiny and didn't even have a wardrobe, it instead had an unnecessary clothes refresher which was the size of a large fridge. Only benefit was how close it was to the station and Akhibara

I stayed one night at Henn Na Asakusabashi. It is conveniently located within a short walking distance from the subway station, and the area is very peaceful. Next door one can find a cozy izakaya that is open until quite late, and a few more steps down towards the river there is a 24h grocery store.
The room is cramped (as you would expect) and has some quirks like phone operated services and a NEC cabin that refreshes your clothes in a blink.
I was expecting a lot more from the robots: the only interaction with them was check-in and checkout, which was not as spectacular as I had expected. There are also robot fish and a couple of vending machines - and the possibility to do laundry when needed.
Everything is clean and standard to your japanese style business hotel. So pretty good!
Remember that before check-in time at 15.00 you can store your luggage only directly at the lobby (or by contacting the staff. There seems to be no way to check-in early.

The check-in process was extremely difficult, with the robot \"staff\" not functioning as intended, and with a distinct absence of the dinosaur. The robot fish were all \"dead\" within a day of staying there, which I'm sure wasn't intentional, considering I saw them swimming around the first night. The rooms weren't anything special, with no robot-themed features. The bed was rock hard.

The gimmicks don't work, and aren't worth the cost or location.

Also had drink vending machine, laundry and toilet which was convenient. Hotel is in a fantastic area, very close to stations and shops. We were expecting to have at least one robot in our room as per the photos online but did not have any in our room. Completely different room from advertised photo and extremely small. Mattresses very thin and uncomfortable. Dust on furniture and shower drain was filthy with hair and build up.

Robots’ not working... these robots are useless. They don’t recognize English or Japanese... the little robot looked broken and did nothing. VR wasn’t so fun and didn’t function due to “update”... The gentleman was very nice, but the girl didn’t seem like she knew anything or willing to help. One robot fish was dead, another one was almost dead and two fish moving to push the dead ones...

The hotel seems relatively new and it is located close to the metro. It was fun to see the robots at the reception as well as the fish tank.

We had triple occupancy. They provided two single beds and a futon. The two single beds were comfortable, but it was not the same for the futon. That's why I gave a 4 for comfort.

If you take the breakfast, please note that the restaurant serves mostly Indian food. They had very limited choices of Western or Japanese items. This was not an issue for us, as we love Indian food and it was quite good; however, I saw a few people that were not pleased.

I would definitely stay again.

You will always get a huge whiff of straight curry as soon as you walk through the front, all the way up into the elevator, all the way up to the eighth floor hallway. And luckily, the room doesn’t have any scent.

Also the bed isn’t a bed, there’s no mattress. It’s just a three inch pad on a hard surface, raised to a regular bed height. The room obviously isn’t large, but we were able to fit and work with our 2 large suitcases and 2 carry ons and 2 backpack. So it’s tight but doable.

The staff sometimes makes the bed, but at least always gives fresh towels. The front desk robots didn’t work for us and the attendant who helped seemed super bothered to have to come out to help. Other than that we didn’t have any interaction with staff. Aside from one morning where one sweet lady said good morning, she was working on cleaning rooms I believe.

The station location is awesome though, being what feels like a couple steps from the station entrance is great. Asakusabashi feels like a good area to get to other things, usually one connection though. But not bad. The area isn’t really much, bars will be open at night if that’s you’re jam. No shopping centers to really stay close to the area but it’s like a 17 minute walk to akihabara for all those needs.

We were there for a week so we got a consistent idea of it I feel. For the LOW price, I’d say it’s worth it!! it was just that cheap for us. As long as you know what you’re getting in to.

Modern and Handy Hotel.

Robot reception was a novelty but slow. Room was good but the mattress moved around easily. Kept having to fix it. Better to save money on the clothes refresher (which stopped working anyway) and buy a better mattress (and have slightly more space in the room as well).
Aside from that everything was good. Amenities like the handy phone and chromecast add to the experience, but the handy phone reset everyday - so you need to re-download apps like fb, messenger, etc and log in with all your accounts daily to use it. Area was great, a two jr lines very close by and a large Lawson (convenience store) just across the street.

Stayed 9 nights here. Had a good time. Staff came to help promptly when we couldn’t check in at the self check in kiosk. House keeping wasn’t on daily basis though. They change the towels and clear the thrash everyday but bed is only made 2 days once. Fine for us so far. Conveniently located near the stations. Turn right from the toei asakusa(exit a3-a5->with escalator) / JR east (Asakusabashi Station). Take another right and walk for a bit till a small crossroad with Lawson at the front right. Hotel is located right on the left side. Reception is at second floor. Various eateries and drugstores around the area too. LG styler is great to sanitize our clothes during our long stay.

Downside : mattress was thin and moves around. The robots at reception are purely deco purpose.

Great hotel, modern, clean and comfortable. A lot of restaurants around the area. Check-in is automated, had some trouble scanning the passport, but the employees are always there to help. There's a train station nearby. Will definitely stay again if I visit Tokyo

Awesome location near JR and subway station, heaps of food and shops around, too. Room was a reasonable size for Tokyo and was sparkling clean and modern, though the bed was quite hard. The robots were fun but weren't able to check us in properly and a staff member had to be called - he was very polite and helpful. The robot fish at reception are very cool!

Great stay at an even better rate.

Although the robot at the front desk couldn't help me, the staff arrived promptly to complete my booking so it was not a problem. The small room had everything I needed especially since I was traveling alone. With plenty of USB ports for charging as well as outlets I was able to keep all my devices as well as spare batteries fully charged. The surrounding area has some nice scenery and isn't full of tourists which I enjoyed. There is also a trolley and train station a 4 minute walk from the hotel so you'll be in a great location to explore the site. Plenty of coffee shops and restaurants around too and some that are open late night. Overall I enjoyed my stay at Henn Na Hotel and would recommend this location to others.

Great value hotel in a very good area of Tokyo

We stayed here for five days and really enjoyed out experience. The robot front desk staff are a unique experience, but we especially loved the cute little robot sitting on the desk that you can chat with even if your Japanese is fairly rudimentary like ours was. If you have any issues with checking in, there is a human staff member always available through the phone at reception. And in general, the staff at the hotel are lovely and very helpful.

The rooms themselves are small, but very well kept and with all the standard Japanese technology. We liked the area too as there are lots of coffee and food options. Attached to the hotel is an Indian restaurant that is actually quite good; I would know since I am originally from India! They have breakfast and lunch buffet options, that are discounted if you select those options when booking a stay at the hotel.

The location is super but the room was okay

The location is fantastic. Many restaurants and convenient stores atound the area. JR and metro station just around the corner which you can simply go anywhere.
The hotel provide bed making every 3 days of your stay for free. They only change your towels everyday.
Bedsheets have stains, and the pillows were not comfortable.
The A/C was also making uncomfortable sound.
