room was so tiny certainly didn’t look like the room i booked! i had spent so much time looking at pics and reading reviews and i don’t know how this hotel got the good reviews it got! quiet street not near anything had to walk 15 mins to Ueno, 10 mins to subway. rooms tiny tiny tiny, bathroom just as tiny, a midget hotel and the price i paid the first night was U$309 is a total rip off! staff spoke little to no english! rigid with extended check out at 12pm! totally a downer to my trip to tokyo to be honest!

Always clean. Stayed there twice in 2025 for a grand total of 4 nights. Convenient to subway lines. Easy access with the luggage from Tokyo station and then to the Narita airport. Lots of small restaurants around the hotel. Only complaint is that the rooms are small, even with two beds. Staff very polite and professional.

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel.
I’ve been using the same face massage tool for over 20 years — it’s a small item that I use every day, but I accidentally left it in the bathroom during our stay.

After checking out, we traveled to Okinawa, Kyoto, and Osaka. More than a week later, when we returned to Tokyo, I realized I must have left it at this hotel. I decided to visit, though I wasn’t very optimistic since it’s such a tiny item and doesn’t look valuable — but they had kept it for me! I was so delighted and deeply grateful.

I also wanted to thank the gentleman who cleaned our room — it was spotless when we arrived. The concierge who took care of our luggage when we first checked in was also very kind and helpful.

Everyone at this hotel was so nice. We’ll definitely stay here again the next time we visit Tokyo.

Disappointed to find the size of the twin bed room I booked was very small. No space for two pieces of luggage. No desk or chair. Two persons cannot move around in the room without bumping into each other. The location is not ideal for getting to the shopping district in Ueno. Hotel is rather old. Service was good.

My wife slipped in the bathroom tub while taking shower because there was no bath tub mat in there. Bathtub can become slippery if there is no mat inside. This is a very big HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZZARD. EVEN DEATH if someone slips and hit their head. The hotel should not be this careless.

Lovely quiet location in Ueno. Train stations and food options not far away. Great staff. Rooms clean and tidy and little extras like providing charger cable and deodorizer for shoes were appreciated. They also held our luggage after check out so we could fill in some hours shopping before heading to the airport. Great hotel. Would recommend and stay again when I return to Tokyo.

Decent 10 mins walk to JR Okachimachi station. Plenty of shopping and food options around the station. There's a AEON store just two streets away for your grocery needs. Staff were awesome. Courteous, helpful, and friendly. Only suggestion is to vacuum or clean the carpets more often. Saw the dust under the beds when trying to retrieve an item that rolled under. Our kids also sneezed quite a bit, seemingly from the dust in the room. Booked another stay next April. Hope to see some improvement in the cleanliness. Thanks !

Excellent value for money and great location

This is the second time I stay at this property in a lapse of 7 years in between the trips, and without doubt I will not hesitate if a future trip arises. The staff is super polite and well educated at all times, they gave us the room we did request at higher floor, the space in the room is larger than the average in hotels in Japan at this price range. The location is perfect, with the JR lines and metro lines literally next door, plus the Ueno station 10 mins walking distance where you can arrive directly from Narita, or get the Shinkansen towards the north-east. Plenty of convenience shops near you, and walking distance to Asakusa, one of the busiest places in Tokyo, yet where the hotel is, super quiet and relaxed. Also, Akihabara is some 15-20 mins walk away! Extremely clean and well kept, the only downside I have to say is the breakfast, a bit poor in terms every day is pretty much the same with sausages and scrambled eggs plus some Japanese style breakfast dishes, of course toasts, juice, tea/coffee, that's all good. In any case, it is enjoyable as it is tasty, only little choice.

The superior double twin room was great. Not huge but just enough had a nice little corner couch, perfect for suitcases. Little fridge, and safe, bidet, hairdryer etc all supplied
Their pillows are very hard and seemed to have “dried beans”in them. They do offer an upgrade but we’re out when we tried. Our airplane neck pillows saved us!!otherwise everything was perfect. Staff was super nice!

Small, quaint hotel. Decent stay, clean and nice bathroom, great shower pressure. Not a lot of space in actual room especially w large luggage, we had 2 med and 1 small and super tight. 2 twin deluxe room for 2 adults and 4 yr old, it wasnt big enough for 1 adult and 4 yr old to sleep on twin unless adult slept on their side.
Friendly, professional staff, they booked our taxi night before but had to redo next morning and got it worked out by our check out time. Opted out of breakfast buffet bc we liked going to conbini and grabbing various prepped food and snacks and drinks. We didnt eat in immediate area but a good 10-15 min walk to nearest metro station.

Great value for money. Room has a microwave, which is handy to heat up ready meals from convenience stores. Fairly convenient location, about 10 mins from Okachimachi and Ueno JR stations (note that if you’re visiting in summer, this is a fairly long walk due to the heat and humidity). Local area is fairly quiet with quite a few dining options.

Good stay in Ueno

This hotel is a short walk from the subway and in a quiet and safe neighbourhood. It is within a 20 minute walk to the Ueno shopping area and its restaurants and bars. The room was small by European standards but was clean and well appointed, with a nice bathrooom. The view out of the window was onto a stark brick wall, so the room was quite dark. Beds were comfortable and the hotel was quiet at night. Breakfast was buffet style and catered more for Asian tastes but did have toast, pastries and eggs. Check in was efficient and staff were friendly. I was happy with this hotel and thought it fair value for Tokyo.

I've been to this hotel twice before. Breakfast is always rich and tasty. Location is good because the area is quite and oh so neighborly ambient. Well connected to the subway and there is a supermarket 5 minutes walking time (important for me anyway). Just loved it.

Disappointing, cannot recommend

My family was disappointed with this hotel, and we would not stay here again. To summarize:

-Although it appeared clean, there was an overpowering stench of stale urine when we opened the bathroom door in our room. It was disgusting to the point of making me feel sick. We called down to the front desk and asked for a room change due to the horrible odor in the bathroom. They did change our room, and fortunately the bathroom in second room we moved to smelled OK.

-However, we later had issues in our second room as well; the air conditioner would randomly turn off in the middle of the night. Our stay was in August when Tokyo is extremely hot and humid 24 hours a day. We woke up several times during the night covered in sweat. During the first night, I had to get up to turn on the air conditioner again 5 times after it randomly went off! I mentioned the issue to the front desk the following day, and the staff simply said, \"I'm very sorry\" and offered no solution. We experienced the exact same problem during the second night of our stay.

-The room was ridiculously small. I know this is common in Tokyo hotels, but even so, the room was far too tiny for a family of three.

-It was noisy. There seemed to be no soundproofing as we could hear people walking and talking in the hallways at all hours.

During the two nights we stayed here, I barely slept. Overall, this hotel does not deserve the positive reviews it currently has. We would definitely not stay here again.

Good First Stay in Tokyo

A pleasant, simple, good value hotel with helpful staff. The immediate area was not touristy (which we liked) and some of the restaurants did not display menus in English, the staff were always patient and helped us order. There are places to visit within walking distance. There are several train and metro stations not too far away, and these enabled us to see the rest of Tokyo. The Yamanote line is included on JR Pass, which was handy for us.

This hotel location is about 15 minutes walking distance from Okachimachi Station. Also it’s very hard to catch taxi in front of a hotel if you decide to use taxi because it’s not a main traffic street. Hotel staffs will charge you a call service fee if you ask them to call a taxi or shuttle for you. It’s not close to any big stores that convenient for tourists. Staffs here are respectful but not friendly at all, no smiling and a bit irritating when you ask question.

Not for a good nights sleep

If you are looking for a comfortable bed this is definitely not the Hotel for you. I have stayed in many Japanese hotels and none of them are famous for great beds but this was the worst bed I have ever slept in. The floor would have been better. Also, this hotel is several blocks off the beaten path, which is great for nice quiet evenings but not great if you want to be right in the action or have bars/restaurants close by.

When checking in, the staff offered me a room with a sky-tree view. The room was spacious and very clean and I had a comfortable stay after a long flight. The property is located in the distance of 10-15min walk from JR Ueno station. It may be a little bit far for some people, but there was no problem for me.

Nice for lite travel, rooms are small but the bathroom was great. We only used the room to sleep and shower so the size was good enough for us. The clothes dryer struggled to dry a lite load, breakfast was adequate, staff was very helpful for non japanese speaking guest. About a 10-15 minute walk to train and a very good outdoors shopping market.

We stayed here for 2 weeks. It's a 15 minutes walk from Keisei-Ueno station, and is one station away (Okachimachi) should you need to shorten that walk (i.e. summer season). Hopefully that helps others who are considering this hotel based on its proximity from Keisei-Ueno station. Our accommodation included breakfast, which made our trip convenient with our 1 year old son, since there's not much to think about at the start of the day. Food repeats at times, but never runs out so all good there. Considering the price per night, this was a really good deal, and there's not much outside noise to be heard from the hotel room since it's far from the main areas in Ueno. There's an arcade right across the hotel should you need to shop for groceries or bread, and convenience stores as well as a supermarket is within a 3-minutes walking distance if needed. Bathroom amenities are nice, and the overall room size is decent for the price. My family looks forward to visit this hotel again in our future stays in Tokyo.

My wife just caught a cold before we arrived at the hotel so she needed sleep. Check in was fine. First we found a blood stain on the bed sheets which the staff immediately addressed by changing bedding. Then the bed itself was like plywood and pillows like stones. She got no sleep and neither did I, so her cold got worse. Not a fun addition to our honeymoon. Also the airconditioner had a light on it that was incredibly bright that also made it impossible to sleep.

Hotel was OK but rooms were so small that with 2 people and 2 suitcases you had trouble walking around the room. We stayed at this hotel at the end of our trip because of it's location in relation to the airport and I would have preferred to go back to the hotel we stayed at in the beginning of our trip while touring around Tokyo.

Hotel is not far away from Ueno Skyliner station

We took Skyliner from Narita International Airport. We bought 72 hours return ticket which costs ¥5,400 including subway pass. We took a taxi to the hotel from Ueno Station only cost us ¥750 because we have too many luggage. Otherwise, only 15 mins walk from the station to the hotel. Subway is nearby. This hotel location is convenient and the price is reasonable with breakfast.
