Both in Ueno and Kyoto Nohgo has a paciness that is in contrast to the measured precision of other accommodation we used on our trip to Japan. Check in was great and front desk team presented a positive vibe but the interface with the dining area needs working on. It’s as if it is run by a different franchise? The food however is excellent. Breakfast in particular on a different level to Nohga Kyoto. We left Ueno on a bit of a down note because we showed up excitedly for breakfast on a Sunday morning at 9-55 just 5 minutes before the 7-10 window closed and were advised Breakfast entry was closed. The advice on timing needs to be re-written if 10.00 means something else??
Most staff speak pretty good English but I suppose that lowers the cultural divide and made the rejection harder to take than if it had had a language barrier to cross?
Having been told there was nowhere to simply have a drink without food we found a mezzanine above the restaurant but ordering a drink is not easy.

Nice hotel in the thriving Ueno district. Super clean and well maintained, no issues whatsoever. The coupons provided at checkin were enough to cover a meal at the excellent bistro. Laundry machines available. Neighborhood quiet after 9pm. Room was compact but very pleased with this stay.

Excellent hotel rooms for our family. Accommodated an extea bed in one room and dealt with shuffling across multiple booking which was super helpful! Great location and a really nice balcony area on the second floor.

(One of the only hotels we stayed at with better pillows as well. ; )

We have a great stay! The room was clean, they have a gym, laundry, and common space/area with tables and microwave. I would definitely recommend to book with breakfast buffet, it was great and saves if you reserved ahead. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Also great location, very close to ueno station and ueno park. Definitely recommend!

Room was well maintained. The staffs were friendly and helpful. Location is conveniently located near train stations and restaurants. Air conditioning kept the room quite cool and room was not dusty. I would probably choose this hotel again if I was in Ueno.

Rooms where very clean and updated. no Kitchen just small fridge, Shower and bathroom was top notch. Rooms where a little small but was not expecting a massive room in a great area in the middle of Tokyo. Great location, Quick walk to great authentic shopping and awesome little food stops. Hotel location is just far enough to not hear any noise from busy streets but close enough to get to those areas with a quick stroll. Highly recommend this hotel we had a great comfortable stay.

I have only good things to say about this hotel! From start to finish the service was impeccable. The rooms (and shower) were super clean and well-appointed. My husband has serious allergies, and we felt so comfortable with the breakfast due to the staff taking the time to go through everything. It was also delicious! The location was great and very walkable to a major station. I would highly recommend Nohga Hotel Ueno.

This was an amazing place to stay. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, able to clearly communicate in English. Very convenient location near Ueno station and the room was comfortably sized. 5-10 minute walk to the station if you don’t mind stairs. Longer route could avoid stairs to the station.
Shower/Bathroom were modern and clean.

PERFECT for Japan first time visitors. We did a lot of research to find this place, and it couldn’t have been better. Ueno is a relaxing respite from the full chaos of touristy areas yet still has endless food/markets/bars within a few steps of the hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful, so luxurious and the staff are kind and attentive. Everything was perfect, from the bed to the amenities to the location.

We had an excellent stay at Nohga Hotel Ueno.

The location is unmatched. Just a short walk from Ueno Station, which made getting around Tokyo incredibly convenient.

It was easy to hop on the JR lines or the subway, and the neighborhood itself has a lot to offer, from great restaurants and cafés to Ueno Park and several museums nearby.

Everything was perfect about this hotel. The check in process was super easy and the entire staff speaks English fluently. The elevators run efficiently and the rooms are clean and well designed. We fit three adults in one room with no issues. I loved that the toilet is separate from the shower as well.

We didn’t use the hotel’s bistro because there was so much food nearby. It’s a very short walk to Ueno Station and Ameya Yokocho is not much further.

The next time I come to Japan with my family, we will stay here.

Lovely modern hotel in good location in Ueno - near the action, but in a slightly quieter area.

We picked Ueno for a 1-night stay after returning from skiing up north, as we felt being near the train to Narita Airport would be beneficial. While this hotel is near the train station, it is on the side furthest away from the Airport line, which meant for quite a long walk while dragging a ski bag. If you are travelling lighter than us though, it is worth the walk.

Room was large by Tokyo standards and was well equipped (however only tea available, no coffee in the room). Excellent shower. Lovely smelling body wash. Very comfortable bed (decently firm).

The welcome drink from a machine was a bit strange - it might of been nicer to be served a drink downstairs in the bar/restaurant instead, but still a comfortable seating area near the welcome drink location.

Overall a brief but very pleasant stay.

I only stayed 1 night at the Nohga Hotel in Ueno and it was a very enjoyable experience.

The reception staff was very friendly and helpful in explaining the available facilities at the hotel.
Upon checking in I also received a welcome drink of choice and coupons for use at the restaurant.
The restaurant staff was very welcoming during both dinner and breakfast and the food was delicious too.

The only reason this hotel doesn't get full marks is the room, during my stay it was a cold winter morning and the window in my room was full of condensation in the morning, to the point where even the walls surrounding the window were damp.
I think this will lead to potential health issues in the future if this issue is not addressed by the hotel.

Lovely hotel, with wonderfully welcoming and kind staff. The room is the perfect size for two guests with a large tub and very nice shower. The hotel offers amenities such as razor, skincare, toothbrush, etc. which is helpful if you forget something or want to pack lightly. The hotel is very close to the Ueno station and 7-11 making is very convenient. Will definitely stay at Nogha Ueno again the next time we are in Tokyo. Highly recommend!

Very close to Ueno line, which gets you everywhere, and the neighborhood had 7/11, Lawson and grocery store within a block. The staff were amazing and helpful. The property was clean, beautiful, safe - we enjoyed the breakfast and the laundry service. The room was comfortable and quiet, with a nice tv and Bluetooth speaker.

Very friendly staff and the location is excellent for using the subway (with many destinations accessible by only one subway with no transfers). Very close to the market, which has tons and tons of food and shopping options, less touristy than other markets we came across. Restaurant in the hotel is nothing exciting and overall not as good as the Nohga in Kyoto.

The hotel was within easy walking distance to Ueno station. The staff were very courteous and helpful when asked. The hotel has dining facilities, but unfortunately our schedule did not allow us the opportunities to utilise.
