The room is small as you’d expect in central Tokyo. It’s walkable to a nice park and busy eating area around the station. The room is awkwardly laid out with too much furniture. Last night I found a baby cockroach in the room. And we faced the bright blue lit up hotel sign so we were a bit illuminated. We didn’t try breakfast. Overall an average stay and ok for the price.

I had a wonderful time here! The room is small in comparison to United States hotels, but this is the norm for Japan and honestly this room was quite large for their standard. The room was clean, had tons of cabinet and closet space, great water pressure, comfortable bed, nice heater, and a table to eat at. They also have self service laundry which is nice if you want to pack light. The staff was very kind. They also have free toiletries like body towels, tea, hair combs, razors, etc, which is a nice touch I do not see in most places. It is incredibly close to convenient stores and the Ueno station which makes it the perfect spot if you need to catch the metro quickly. I truly loved staying here and plan to do so again!

We had a great stay here! The hotel is in a perfect location, just a short walk to Ueno Station (10mins), plenty of food places, and even Sensoji Temple. The area is super quiet at night and has easy access to trains, making it very convenient for exploring Tokyo.

This was my second time staying at the property. The staff were helpful and efficient. For Tokyo, the room size is good. I was pleased overall, however I was less satisified on this trip than before. Previously, the weather had been excellent, but this time it rained heavily. The room doors have a slight gap at the bottom, so there was a persistent whistling wind sound like in an old house. The biggest issue is that there is nowhere to conveniently hang wet clothes, raincoats, or umbrellas. This same trip, I stayed at a MyStays in Hiroshima which had wall and door hooks in addition to a retractable laundry line in the bathroom specifically for hanging things to dry. This hotel, though it has small closets to hang a few dry things in, offers no solution for wet clothing that I could find. I had to spread things out over surfaces and suitcases. This feels like a glaring oversight in room design. This issue aside, the location is excellent and allows easy access to trains, buses, and the subway. If you are coming in dry weather, this is a good hotel to consider.

We really enjoyed the efficient storage space available in the room and appreciated that we had everything we needed in such a small and functional space. The room had a small kitchenette with sink, shelves, hot plate, microwave, and mini fridge. The location was excellent. A short walk to the closest Inaricho subway station and a slightly longer walk to Ueno station. Inaricho station is a stop on the Ginza line, which conveniently goes between Asakusa, Ueno, Akihabara, Ginza, and finally Shibuya station. There are several convenience stores, a grocery store, and coffee shops nearby. The staff were always very helpful and thorough.

This was a good spot for exploring the Ueno area and nearby Asakusa. Conveniently located a straight shot from the Ueno Station’s Iriya exit (and not the Iriya Panda exit that Google Maps kept suggesting). Helpful staff, nice toiletries, good water pressure even on the upper floors. Several convenience stores and a grocery nearby. Coin-operated laundromat right next door. Plenty of umbrellas available to borrow for when it rains. The only thing I felt was missing were some hangers so I could hang some clothes.

As other reviews have said, the hotel room shows some signs of age. Our room's sink, for example, was not fully connected to the wall and sagged somewhat. The walls were also somewhat tired. That said, I have zero complaints about the cleanliness standards of the room or the quality and comfort of the beds and would think only someone truly fussy would be unable to look past these issues for a few nights. Though aged, the bathroom was spotless and the bedding was fresh and tidy. The sofas, chairs, and minifridge were new and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The area around the hotel is the real gem as the neighborhood is vivid. Temples dot every other corner, restaurants are abundant, and it is a short walk to Ueno Park (which contains the zoo and many great museums) as well as the famous Senso-ji temple and shopping arcade. The Tokyo Skytree was visible from our room's balcony and is a doable walk for most. It is also possible to walk from the hotel to Akihabara. Reaching the area from the airport is easy as the Skyliner stops at Ueno. If you come in from other cities via stations like Tokyo Station, it is easy to reach Ueno as it is a major stop (just be very careful to avoid rush hour!!!). That said, getting from the train station to the hotel is a bit of a walk with many suitcases, but the well designed and maintained Tokyo roads makes it easy enough.

My 11 nights stay review in hotel

The hotel wall near the mini kitchen was dirty and run-down. The mini kitchen light is not working and the rack at the kitchen sink was rusty. The floor in the toilet has slight yellowish stain. There are stains on the duvet cover.

What is good is the firmness of the bed and there is a air purifier. The reception staff are friendly and helpful.

I'm only stay here for one night because of after midnight flight arrival. The location of the hotel is excellent. Close to the station and reception open all night. The reception is friendly. The bed is quite comfortable and clean. The only thing that is lacking the hotel is outdated so the bathroom is old fashioned. Overall is not a bad stay for a short stay.

Stain and Dust everywhere in the Standard Double Room at level four, such a disappointment. No preparation the room before guests stay, such as Pillow with yellow mark, Gray Nightwear (instead of white), Bathroom amenities with no refill ( half of each before using it ), etc. I send the complain message to them, and they change the room for us, they doing their good job. I hope they well recheck the room before guests arrive.

Avoid unless you are on a very low budget.

If you want a proper hotel, this isn't it!
This hotel is only suitable for students or those on a very low budget. That is fine but I was EXTREMELY disappointed with it. In 2018 I stayed in a MyStays hotel in Kyoto which was superb and that's why I booked at Ueno, Iriyaguchi. A big mistake!
There are two MyStays hotels at Ueno, a few metres apart. I went to the wrong one and was directed to the other one, a sort of annex. The lobby was extremely small and I was in a queue behind people with backpacks and families with lots of children, all scruffily dressed. This concerned me. When I reached the tiny check-in desk, I was greeted by a miserable Japanese female who ignored me. I was finally checked in by another staff member.
The room was clean, but there was no bedside lamp, only a baleful fluorescent light in the ceiling.
No room cleaning available! No service at all!
Right outside my window was a major building site, with another next to that. There was a digger and a huge drilling machine - absolutely awful.
No prior warning was given by the hotel about the terrible noise and danger from the building site.
I have lived in Japan for 44 years and know it well so I asked the check-in staff to find me another hotel but all were full that day.
Finally, they found me a room for the next two nights at a nearby hotel, the Nohga, which was superb.
Hotels.com were very helpful and gave me a refund. Well done, them!

The place is ok for one night, but not for longer.

It is not too nice place. I am not sure where stayed other who wrote reviewes especially about cleaness. It was not really clean. The carpet is dirty and dusty, there is mold in bathroom. Old furnishing, bad smell and small rooms. This hotel really need update. Additional to this, photos on Hotels are not as it is in reality. The place is very much overpriced for what you get. We stayed 5 nights and they do not offer cleaning service in between, which is not a problem really, but it is good that they take rubish away and some new towel is also welcome. There is no place to hang something expect in the old closet, which you do not want to do.

Nice and comfortable. In good location where you can choose restaurants within 10mins walk. Walking to stations is within 10-15mins provided you are familiar with the exit. Note there is no making the room; you have to change towel and clear the bins yourselves. Given the price and location, I find it’s reasonable. Also, although inaricho station is closer, it is not part of the JR rail where many visitors may have bought the JR PASS.

The hotel was reasonably priced and the room was comfortable. Toiletries are also easily available. As with the other Mystays hotels, the only complain was there was no house keeping service even for a 4-night booking. This was not mention in the details when I did the booking. If I had known I may not have booked this hotel.

I stay at Mystays in Aakasaka. its an amazing hotel. This one is tired. The bathroom I had was dated with black mold spots on the ceiling and the seal around the bath was grotty. The furniture was also poor.
This place really needs some investment, with that it will be one of the best nr the uneo eki area.

Pros: Good Location. Near to subway G17 Inaricho station. Staff are friendly.

Cons: very far from keisei line of you take skyliner. Room cupboards are very old, sides of the cupboards are chipped. Floor is quite dirty. Small toilet and bathtub is stained. Sink piping not good water as water flow out very slowly almost causing overflow. One of the bedsheet got yellow stain.

Location is perfect. On the Yamanote line. Within walking distance of Asakusa and Ameyoko, but the hotel itself was subpar. Old worn out rooms, one elevator for the whole complex, no such thing as room service (closest thing was a dominoes delivery menu in the room. The bathroom had a fair bit of mould and a ring in the bathtub thick enough for me to say no to my daughter about having a bath (stuck with just a shower after seeing that thing).

Stayed with wife and two year old. Room is small as expected in Tokyo, but bed was bigger than the photo made it seem and the room has terrific storage with many closets and shelves. Service at the desk was fantastic and Elizabeth and her team keep the place in wonderful condition. The location is a quick walk to the G line metro, which is one of the best lines for easy sightseeing. The location is also walkable to Ueno and Asakusa. Would definitely stay here again.

Everything was good except stink urine smell

I stayed two nightw at this hotel. The first night room had a terrible urine smell from the bathroom. I have never had this kind of smell problem in my 20 plus years of business trips. The hotel gave me another room for the second night, and the room was OK. The staff members were very kind and communicating well. The carpets on the hallway showed large ugly looking stains here and there. The staff said the rooms are not cleaned during the stay. I hope the whole hotel should be cleaned well. Upon request, the hotel provided cooking utensils, which was nice.

Nice place, Walkable to Ueno

The best thing about this hotel is the location. It's located near Inaricho subway station and walkable to Ueno area which has JR Ueno and Keisei Line to Narita Airport. There are Lawsons, Family Mart, local supermart, restaurants and McDonald's nearby. Staffs are nice. No housekeeper. No water bottle in the room and no water dispenser provided in the lobby. If I go to Tokyo, I will choose to stay at this hotel again.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and they could speak English quite well. Although the hotel does not provide housekeeping service, the staff were very quick to provide fresh towels almost immediately upon request. The rooms were alright, with sufficient space for beds and an additional table. Unfortunately, the toilets were very tiny.

Simple budget hotel with friendly staff!

If you're looking for a budget hotel and don't plan to spend much time in the room this is the place for you. The staff are really friendly and the location is great however the rooms are small and very basic. The bathrooms let out a sewerage smell and if someone in the rooms close to you are smoking you can smell it in your room (even being in a non smoking room)!

Apart from this its a great budget place to stay and convenient to travel anywhere!

Quite Possibly the Dirtiest Hotel Room in Japan

the room smelled like cigarette smoke. the bathroom smelled like worse cigarette smoke. seems like the only thing that is ever cleaned in the room is the bed sheets. dirty window sills. dirty bathroom fixtures. dirty light fixtures. carpet ripped up in some spots. wallpaper and siding peeling off the walls.

Only 8 minutes walk from Ueno station

I stayed there for 2 nights and I really enjoyed my stay there. This hotel is about 8 minutes walk from the closest exit of Ueno station, it is located in a side road and therefore away from the noises from main road. It can be pretty quiet at night but Tokyo is a very safe city, don't be worried. There are several convenient stores such as 7-11 & Family Mart on the main road, which is just 2 minutes walk away. The room itself is tiny but still considered to be reasonably big in Japanese standard. Overall, I recommend this hotel.

The location was a 10 minute walk to Ueno station and the Keisei skyliner from Narita airport. Quiet residential area but only 3 blocks (3 min walk) to 7/11 and food outlets. Asakusa was a 20 min walk straight up the street. Would recommend this hotel and would stay here again. Reception rang for our tour to confirm and also booked taxi for the next day, tea, coffee readily available , but no housekeeping which never bothered us at all.

The staff were lovely. Many spoke English, which was very nice since my Japanese is poor. I was early for check in and was able to leave my bags there and go out, and when I returned they had already brought my bags up to my room. The room itself was nice (some would argue it was small, but all I needed was a place to sleep and to clean up, since I was out and about most of the time), and I had a fantastic view from the top floor. Quiet, pleasant, and well-kept. Very happy with my stay and would gladly stay there again.

Small room Japanese Hotel.

We had an enjoyable stay, but unfortunately the room was so small that my wife and I could not move around at the same time and found it difficult to store our 2 bags each night.

Small but confortable

In Ueno for a little shopping on my way home from Nagasaki. Hotel is just 3 blocks from the Giza Subway line and 2 blocks from a 24 hour grocery. Kitchenette ha pots, pans and utensils.Also 24 hour coin laundry

Quite Disappointed to the Brand Mystays Hotel

The check-in staff speak quite fluent English, but not friendly enough. When I asked why I have to fill in the place of my previous stayed city, he behaved unfriendly manner with negative attitude. This should be avoid and yet he did it ( I subsequently aware that it may be due to the issue of Middle East respiratory syndrome, MERS). I subsequently asking about car parking issue, he did not react promptly and definitely helpless

We have booked non-smoking room. However, they just separate smoking and non-smoking by the corridor - NOT by floors. Even the Chinese Staff (I think he was a trainee) admitted that this arrangement is very odd.

When entering the room, the toilet smell irritatingly. We made the complaint and the Trainee come up again. He found of the source and agree with us but can't do anything practically. The hotel was fully occupied and no room may change for us, even next night.

The only good things are air condition and large double bed (5 feet wide). Seems like a consolation!

Very satisfied with room for the price we paid.

My husband and I each had a luggage and one carry-on, and so we decided to call a taxi from the. Keisei ueno station. Taxi came promptly and cost us ¥730.
Once we knew the location of the hotel, the walk to the JR station is not far.
There is a coin-operated washing machine ¥200 for about 30 mins wash and a coin-operated tumble dryer, another ¥200. We used it as we had some soiled clothes which we wanted to wash, so the laundry area was vey useful.
In the bedroom, we only used the kettle to boil water. Didn't use the fridge or microwave.
We knew in advance there will be no daily maid service to tidy the room. We stayed 3 nights and they had left us 2 sets of fresh towels in the room, and reception told is we could change them daily if we needed to.
Reception staff all spoke good English, and were very helpful.
Lots of good eateries nearby.

Sound budget accommodation in good location.

This hotel is in a highly accessible, quiet location only 5 minutes walk from Ueno Station with plenty of convenience stores and food outlets nearby. Also very close to subway station. However, while the room is quite comfortable and a good size for Tokyo, the hotel needs renovation. Carpets in hallways were stained and there is no regular room service.

Hotel staff were very helpful. Room was good size. However as it is an ageing hotel could do with a good clean of the bathroom & the kitchenette. Bed was comfortable & clean.

Great location near Ueno Station.

Very helpful staff many of whom speak English. Room is generous for Tokyo standards but the location is superb. Get a metro pass and you're flying!!
