We stayed in the Pokemon room and our kids absolutely loved it. The giant Snorlax plushie was the highlight but the kids also enjoyed all the decals on the wall. The themed bags gifted to us at check in were very nice too.

Having used other Mimaru apartment hotels across Japan, I would continue saying that the level of service is excellent all around.
We stayed in the Asakusa one the year before, but on this occasion we wanted to stay a little away from the hustle and bustle. The hotel is about 5-7 minutes walk away from the Ueno train/metro station via the Iriya gate tunnel and entrance.
The hotel doesn't have the walk out into the middle of the attractions feel, but if you want somewhere a bit quieter, and within reach of excellent transport links to other parts of Tokyo, this is a great location to stay in. You have Shinkansen, Yamanote JR line and Metro.
In the immediate area, there are not so many shops, being underneath a highway, but both 7Eleven and FamilyMart are just short walk away, and 5-7 minutes away are a selection of fast food, izakayas and independent eateries.
We had an unfortunate event which meant we missed our first night and the staff went out of their way to contact Expedia and claim one night of the accommodating back for us. Very impressed and grateful for the help there.
On a day to day basis, the staff were extremely helpful from providing amenities, suggestions of nearby eateries and things to do.
Top tip regarding laundry - there is a panda themed (the symbol of Ueno) laundromat within 1 minute walk of the hotel. Given the 3 machines in the hotel are in demand, the external laundromat is a lifesaver and I think has a better combined washer/dryer machine.

It was a very nice room, loved the bunk beds! I also really enjoyed the shower room, and I definitely recommend this hotel for families on vacation. The only downside was that the toilet room smells terrible- turn on the deodorizer to help! But other than that, I think this is a great hotel and I hope you will enjoy it too!

Loved the size of the room and it was walkable to Ueno park and reasonably close to the train station, in particular the one with the express train back to Narita Airport. Beds were comfortable and it was really nice to have the little sitting area w/table and chairs. Bunk beds were great for the kids too. On quite a busy street and right above a train station so even though we were on the 11th floor with a great view, we could still hear faint sounds of train bells etc. Would stay at Mimaru again but may consider a different location.

The stay was a great introduction to Japan for our American family. The staff was so kind and helpful, and they were able to communicate well with us. The room was spacious. We had 4 beds and they were firm, but comfortable. I didn't think I would like them because I'm so accustomed to my super plush bed, but it slept great! The noise was low and didn't bother us at all. We washed some clothes, which was super easy. The only warning is that you will need to run your clothes multiple times in the dryer most likely. It was not a big deal for us though. Our daughter even played bingo with some fun activities and won a prize that made her super happy. We would 100% stay here again. Thank you so much MIMARU.

From check in to check out my family and I loved it here! The staff was very friendly. Our room was great, clean and well set up for kids. We walked easily to the 7 eleven a block down for snacks. The train station was very close and we also went to Ueno park a few times to let the kids burn energy. I appreciated the staff always welcoming us back from the day, talking to my kids, as well as having a fun bingo game ( with prizes!) which was the highlight of this long trip for my kids. 😁 we loved the bunk beds as well as the small kitchen and dining room. Mimaru East has great advice for local options for dining and activities. Special shout-out to Aki for being just the best to us! We would definitely return to this exact location next time we visit Tokyo.

So happy we found this hotel in Ueno. Lovely staff, very happy to go through our plans and make recommendations of what to see. Lots of food options close by, as well as numerous convenience stores and also a large supermarket about 3 minutes walk away. Proximity to Ueno station was great! Handy for Shinkansen. The rooms were very well thought out, plenty of room for a family. The kitchen facilities were great! Very convenient. Nice touch to provide kitchen paper and cling wrap. They Only clean the room every 4 days. We stayed there 3 nights and 4 days so when I asked for cleaning, they wanted to charge extra for cleaning. Laundry machine takes forever to dry. I did 1 load and that took hours to dry. I did laundry from 9pm-2am. Never again. Also the air condition at the hotel was weak, they have a sign to not go under 23 degrees, the room gets pretty stuffy.

This is our second stay in a Mimaru and I highly recommend them for families: large comfortable rooms, friendly English-Speaking staff, laundry, clean, well-appointed. All the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Family apartment room size was great for 4 people. The bunk bed was divided for privacy. The kitchenette had all the utensils to cook, microwave to warm up food and kettle to make coffee/tea. It's a 5 mins walk to Ueno Station and 2 short blocks behind hotel for unique local restaurants and 24 hours Supermarket. Behind the hotel is a quiet residential neighbourhood. My family of 4 (2 ad, 2ch [8 and 10]) stayed here early January. The hotel is in a great location not too far from Ueno station with an easy station exit within a few hundred metres (Iriya Gate). We found the hotel to be very quiet, had great facilities and easy walk to the sights of Ueno for food and shopping (as well as a 7-Eleven close by). The staff were really friendly and helpful and the hotel has a coin op laundry on site too. We really enjoyed this hotel and would definitely return to stay here in Tokyo.

The location is excellent.The receptionist is very polite and friendly. The room is clean and comfortable also quite spacious for the four of us. The room is an apartment style so it's complete with kitchenette but no washing machine and dryer in the room which is quite strange for an apartment. We take a Japanese style futon room. The only thing I didn't expect is we have to make our own futon bed. So I made futon bed for my children to sleep and they didn't make a bed until the third day. Also the other thing that I don't like is the reception is not 24 hours so if we have after midnight flight arrival will be a problem. In my case, I booked another hotel because of this. Other than this everything else is fine.
