We booked 4 nights, and at check-in, we walked out of a downpour & into the Tokyo’s saddest escape room.

Door opens, bam. Full-on “someone peed the bed and let it marinate” stench. Not a gentle whiff. This was the aggressive variety. The AC was dead, naturally, so the humid little sauna just kept slow-cooking that aroma. The wallpaper peeled and there were kick marks on the wall. And there on the carpet? One fat, solitary toenail clipping. Classy.

I never complain, but I went back downstairs. The Indian gentleman followed me up, took one long sniff, and declared everything “fine.” We stared at each other. It was then I realized we were on our own. No one was coming to save us.

My wife asked for an extra sheet so she could at least sleep on the couch instead of the bed. Denied. That, we were informed, would incur a third guest charge, of course. Nothing says luxury like paying more to avoid the bed you’ve already paid for.

We asked for a refund. No. Then for a different room. Manager said they were full,which seemed aspirational at best and suggested we check out at 11 the following day, & maybe swing back at 3:00 to see if anything “opened up.” A move carefully lifted from the Ritz-Carlton playbook.

Without a functioning AC, we had to sleep with the open window. From below we listened to the dulcet tones of drinking, singing and finally at 5 am, construction. We lasted one night. Uninhabitable. We ate the cost of the remaining three, and ran. I suggest you do the same.

There are two properties the Grand Centurion and the Centurion Vintage. Even tbough book rooms in the Grand on Expedia you may be assigned a room in the Vintage. The Vintage, as the name suggests is older and mustier.
The staff is friendly and makes up for some of these shortcomings.

Nice place close to Akasaka-Mitsuke station. Staff very friendly. AC works fine. Three beds in one small room and not much space to walk around. Two beds were squeezed together on one wall and one fold out bed on the other. Bathroom was normal (read small) but functional. Hot water would go cold and back to setting every few minutes in the shower. Didn’t spend a lot of time there so it was ok.

The service is excellent, staff at reception spoke good English and very helpful. The cleaning staff do a great job with the room. Even after forgetting to place “clean room” sign they still replace towels and replenish amenities.
I loved the location of the hotel, train stations a short walk away and 20 mins to Shinjuku, Shibuya and Ginza. There are plentiful of eateries and bars in the area. I would recommend to walk a little further out past Harry Potter cafe for nicer quieter restaurants and cafes but most cafes don’t open until 11am if you’re wanting breakfast/brunch. There is a 7 Eleven just across the road, and many more convi stores nearby.
The laundry room need improvement, outdated machines and area doesn’t have seats to wait for washing. This was the only negative I could think of.
I would recommend this hotel for singles/friendship groups and families.

Had reaerved a room with pull out sofa bed was downgraded and charged same amount. Move to annex across the street and was not in the main building. Had to cross construction area with tools and building materials strewn everywhere woth luggage and my yound daughter in tow. Stains on the sofa and floorof the room. Never stay here again.

if in hurry and want and quick commute to the train station and dont mind staying out most of the day and pay about $260 per day. ( we are three people. 2 beds). then i would say take this. by the way. there is no breakfast.
many many places to eat in walking distance.
not a shopping district ( stay in Ginza or Shinjuku if you are into shopping)
my reccomendation is book a month ahead and book in Ginza or Shinjuku. and take a hotel with the breakfast included ( ask for luxry breakfast with both western and japanese items). you will get it for the same price or even lesser depending on when you go.
i think the prices are cheapest in summer and deep winter.
they clean the rooms daily. staff is good. no breakfast. there is on-site laundry.
i am visiting Japan for the first time so i did not knaw any better. but if i have to visit Japan again i wont stay at this place simply because i think i can find a better value. this place is not expensive but its not cheap either. definetly not a luxury place.

Overall great hotel. Near train station, about a 5 min walk. Room is tight (we had had 3 ppl) but being out and about all day, you really just need a comfortable bed to rest on. Out of 4 hotels we stayed at, this was the most comfortable bed. Staff is very friendly, service was great. They had entertainment on certain evenings like a piano player. 7 eleven a few seconds away. Numerous restaurants/bars nearby. A few nights, we could hear ppl outside laughing/yelling but it didn’t last long. It was nice they had washers and dryers available. This hotel was our home base for 5 days while we explored Tokyo area.

READ BEFORE YOU BOOK:
IF YOU BOOK THE ANNEX YOU ARE IN AN OLD BUILDING THAT LOOKS DIRTIER AND LESS APPEALING.

I’m not a picky traveler and I hate giving bad reviews, unfortunately the annex booking isn’t advertised as much as I would like and the pictures are not of the actual rooms, they are of the new building better rooms.

Because of this I gave a 2 star review, otherwise it’s was doable, I stayed for 6 nights and it’s a great location to get all around Tokyo - it would have been just a typical tiny 3 star Tokyo hotel but because of the false advertising and lack of notification I had to give a poor review. It definitely isn’t the cleanest, nor pretty hotel but it gets the job done if you’re looking for something cheap and you just sleep in the room. The king bed was a huge plus because Tokyo hotels usually have tiny beds so that was great. Lastly, the laundry is in the main building, very old machines and take coins only, you need to bring your own detergent which is annoying because other hotels supply it but it’s an easy pick up next door in 7/11.

Overall, would I stay again, No. Was it doable for the price and king bed - yes.

I thought I was booking the main hotel. All the pictures on Expedia were of the main hotel and when I arrived I booked the annex unknowingly. All it said in the description is annex but who knew there was a “vintage” building across the street when there wasn’t any pictures of those rooms. We got there and told us we booked the annex. Room felt dirty, furniture all scratched up, and smelled like bleach. Went to the front desk and they showed me rooms I originally booked and told me that all rooms are the same. I told them to come check the other building with me to tell me in person both buildings rooms were the same. They refused. Had to pay an additional $250 to get the room I thought I booked. There are better hotels in the area.

This photos of this place look super nice but in reality, it is not. This place is kind of a click bait. I was sent to their \"annex\" hotel across the street and it was just horrible. It is nothing like the pictures. originally i wanted to stay another night for the location but i left quickly the next day. You can get much better hotels for the price you pay

Lobby features a beautiful hardwood table seating 8–9, with unlimited free espresso/coffee and tea for working or waiting. A 7-Eleven is steps away, with other convenience and drugstores nearby. Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Ginza are all one direct train ride away (≈20–25 minutes).
Each guest is provided with a Japanese-style bathrobe and hotel slippers. Daily towel changes and room cleaning are available, with full replenishment of toiletries (toothbrush/toothpaste, comb, hair tie, cotton swabs, shower loofah), and beds made daily. The service desk is open 24/7.
There are plenty of dining options within walking distance.

We just stayed one night and ask for a refund, the place is a scam , if you see the photos nothing is even closer to what you showed in your page.

I strongly recommend to review and try to avoid this kind of scams. I recognized the staff were very kind and helpful .

We haven’t tried their breakfast because we always have to leave very early in the morning. We just grab coffee and bun from the nearby Seven Eleven which taste good too.
Their employees are all excellent in their job. The facility is clean. We just felt bad because I reserved a non smoking room but for whatever reason we got a room that allows smoking. The smell of cigarette smoke is a little bit not pleasant; other than that it was a good and pleasant stay.

We reserved a nonsmoking room only to find out they gave us a smoking room. When we asked for a nonsmoking room at the check in, the attitude was cold and we were told “go talk to the booking site you used, we can’t do anything”. We ended up staying in the smoking room for a week. During the stay we lost one door key and they charged three thousand yan for replacement.

Location is convenient, short walk from a couple of subway stations sitting across multiple lines. Plenty of local shops for local eats.

This hotel's location is awesome. It is conveniently located near multiple subway lines. Plenty of restaurants and convenient stores nearby. The staff is super nice and hotel is pretty clean. The only drawback is that the rooms are really small (normal for Japan), and sometimes the water in the shower has inconsistent temperature (hot, then cold, then hot again. But other than that, we like it and would stay there again.

Hotels.com books to the ‘Annex’ across the street from the Centurion, but this was not clear when we made the booking. The Annex rooms are very dated and run down, but quirky in their own right. Also disappointed that the onsen was for men only and with an additional 500yen fee. The location was fantastic, close to train station and dining and full of street activity. And our room was surprisingly quiet for how busy it was outside. There was no free breakfast or lounge area.

Centurion Hotel Grand Akasaka is a great and affordable hotel. It is close the some convenience stores, restaurants, Bic Camera, and the train station. Very convenient and the staff are very friendly.

There are minor flaws in the room, like small areas of wallpaper tearing apart and the legs of the desk chair that are loose. I would not recommend using their razor kit because it pulls on my facial hair and cuts my skin. It is a very cheap razor.

Other than that, everything else in the hotel room is excellent! I would recommend this hotel if you want an affordable and convenient experience.

The room was very small. We were 3 people in the room. There was nowhere to put our clothes. We were there for 6 days and we had to live out of our suitcases. After two days we upgraded to a bigger room but we had the same problem regarding clothes storage. Otherwise, the staff was friendly and it was close to the train station and tons of restaurants around the hotel.

Centurion was one of our best stays. It is said that the people make the place, and this is the absolute truth about this hotel. I cannot say enough about the helpful, friendly staff, who all went above and beyond to answer our questions and set the stage for our first brilliant trip to Japan. An added bonus is the convenience of the Akasaka neighborhood, the clean rooms, and musically themed lobby. I cannot wait to return to this lovely hotel in Tokyo.

Disappointed in the room. The carpets were dirty/crunchy. Heavy perfume sprayed in the rooms. The air conditioner is controlled by the front desk and you have to call them to turn it on otherwise the heat is on which was uncomfortable. Could not wait to leave.

Breakfast was the weak point. They had 4 predefined options that did not resonate with me. One day I had a bad upset stomach that I can strongly relate to the breakfast. The next (and last) morning I did not take the risk and skipped it (gave back the breakfast cards to the reception).
Everything else was OK. There where 2 convenience stores very closed, to get sandwiches, soft drinks and deserts, until late in the night.

Above all else, the staff was great, especially the front desk crew. They answered questions, took care of your needs, and made you feel like an honored guest. My hats off to them! They make the stay pleasant. The interiors of the hallways and at least my room, was a little rough around the edges. Still nice accommodations, but small things like torn corner wall paper, or scratches on the lower walls where luggage has scrapped by, and carpets that could use a refresh, were the only criticisms I have. Again, the staff make up for all this, but I would hope the owners will tend to these small areas to really bring it up another level. They already have a solid staff, now all it needs is the refresh to support them. Overall, I’d give the Centurian a 7-8/10.
