This hotel has a good location in Ueno near Nakamise Market and Don Quixote and good local restaurants in neighborhoods. Also close to Ueno park and the Narita Express Ueno stop. The rooms are tight with a long thin hallway, and when you open the bathroom door you can't walk through the hallway, but the bathroom is clean and nice shower.

Rooms were always cleaned perfectly, towels changed daily, full room cleaned every 3rd day. Our cleaning person always filled up the soaps and shampoos almost daily, and they smell so good! Hotel room is slightly roomier than average hotels in Japan, so that’s a plus. The hotel doesn’t really have amenities, but that’s fine with us. Two washer/dryers, which could be difficult to snag, but wasn’t too big of an issue. Hotel is right around the Oedo (E) train line, and a short walk from the JY/H line with a seven-eleven right around the corner, and multiple family marts around. Very convenient, and would totally recommend!

Great spot in Ueno with super easy access to transportation (~3 min walk to train lines, 10-15 for some other ones for certain routes). Super convenient, and love being in a quieter spot than Shibuya/Shinjuku, but still being able to easy access other areas. Konbinis right around the corner is also great! Small rooms, but to be expected - you’re not staying in Tokyo to stay in your hotel room. Friendly & helpful staff - would recommend here!

Although our room was small(common in Japan),we had everything we needed including a small fridge,kettle and tea,and access to washers and dryers.The shower had fantastic water pressure and was very hot. i would not hesitate to stay here again!

The place was not horrible, but the overall attitude, before you even arrive to the hotel, is not very welcoming;
ONLY after you pay for the accommodation, you get a VERY long list of rules, what you shouldn’t do, what is not allowed to do, and way too many other rules. Many of those rules are supposed to be known to the clients, even if they don’t read it. It is common sense…!
It seems to me that the hotel is trying to cover and prevent any misunderstandings…
But all of this is very unwelcoming!
I live in Japan, I travel all over the world. I have never seen a hotel with so many rules… you just book a cheap looking room, who wants to get and be busy reading 2 pages of rules…?
It reminds me a chapter on the very good British TV program; The Hotel inspector. They had one story on a hotel that had all those rules of don’t and do…
I suggest to the owner of this hotel to watch it.
No refrigerator in the rooms !
Bathroom could have been cleaned better, a few hair was there…

I couldn’t have asked for a better stay!
Location, cleanliness, the staff, and the comfort were all fantastic!

Location: It, for us, was in a great spot and we were able to walk to a lot of places.

Cleanliness: the room wasn’t just quickly cleaned up for the next guest, everything was spot-free and the little details were all taken care of!

The staff: absolutely fantastic as well. They were very friendly and always had warm greetings. The people at the front, at the buffet, and the cleaning staff always were happy to say hi and answer any questions.

Comfort: thankfully, it was also a comfortable stay! Everything from the bed, to the bathroom, to the sheer sounds. I’ve stayed in nice looking hotels that had run-down AC units or loud guests. Everything worked and it worked well.

Wonderful property for the first leg of my trip on Japan. Wonderful staff who provided commendable service. Area is great, a half hour walk to senso ji, Ueno park, and close to market areas with a fun nightlife. I was almost sorry I had to leave. I only wish the laundry had options for cold wash, so be careful, but that's on me. I would stay here again.

This is a great hotel for the price. Conveniently located - near two metro stations as well as walking distance to Ueno station. The property is very clean with lots of complimentary amenities and friendly staff. For Japanese rooms they were reasonably spacious. We thought it was very good value.

The room and space are so great until two days ago,I don’t know who smoked in their room and cause the hall was filled with the smoke of cigarettes! I even could smelled it in my room! I called the front desk, but all they could do is apologize!

Ueno park hotel with friendly staff

Pretty typical three star hotel for Tokyo. Easy access to multiple systems of transport, close to Ueno Park, Asakusa. Very friendly staff, limited English and definitely not enough laundry facilities for the number of guests. Great pajamas!

Solo travellers beware—this hotel failed me when I needed help most.

I stayed here twice (23/03/25–27/03/25 and 03/04/25–07/04/25). The first visit was fine, though staff were cold and the hotel felt transactional. No free water, only paid bottles. Small but clean rooms with a good Skytree view.

The real issue came during my second stay, when I became severely ill with food poisoning the day before checkout. I could barely walk or stand and was vomiting violently. Despite seeing my condition, the two receptionists on duty—both women with ponytails and glasses—offered no help. I begged for medication or assistance; they refused, gesturing “no” and telling me to walk to a pharmacy or visit a hospital. I even ran outside to throw up, and still, they did nothing—not even check on me once.

If not for a friend who arrived hours later with medicine, I don’t know what would’ve happened.

To the manager: review CCTV from 06/04/25 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to see how poorly your staff responded to a guest in distress. Their indifference made an already awful experience far worse.

This hotel failed in basic duty of care. If you're traveling alone, I urge you—stay elsewhere. It’s not worth the risk and your safety is paramount.

Great location to base from for a few days in Tokyo. Lovely hotel and nice and quiet rooms. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. I have also stayed at at the other Ici location nearby and both are great, solid choices with comfy beds.

Loved the hotel, was very clean and the staff were super friendly and accomodating. The best thing was them storing our luggage prior to our arrival while we went to Hakone, that was a true lifesaver/economical option. Definitely would stay again!

Only negatives were the street noise was pretty loud but the windows were pretty good at drowning it out.

Location is close to several train stations. A bit of a hassle getting to hotel from airport, but otherwise great for getting around Tokyo.

Great area near the UENO district with lots of shopping and restaurants within a short walk from hotel.

Room was very small and bed was very uncomfortable. After 3 nights on that bed, my back was in a lot of pain.

All staff were very friendly and helpful when needed.

The area was quiet and safe. There was hot tea or instant coffee for you at the end of the evening after a long day of exploring at the front desk. The staff was pleasant and welcoming. I would stay here again.
