I was a bit leary of the hotel because it was so cheap. I booked a month for 600 dollars. You get a discount for a Long Term Stay. I figured I could move if it was no good. It was very nice, I had a studio apartment, it had plenty of room, and a kitchen. It was an older place, but well maintained, and clean. The grounds and pool were awesome. The staff was the best part. Everybody was very accommodating, from Housekeeping to the Bar Staff. Right in the middle of town, close to everything. Very Secure. Many places to eat and drink within 100 yards. The beach is right across the street. I will go back.

It was the worst hotel I ever stayed at. The air conditioner was not big enough for the room I turned it on at arrival at 1 in the afternoon and I was still sweating at 3 in the morning and that was in the downstairs in the law it was incredibly hot. There was no hot water and the next morning when we woke up there was no water at all. They say they speak three different languages and the only person I could get to was a security guard in the morning that only spoke Spanish. There was algae in the grout lines around the top of the pool. They say they have Serta sleep Comfort premium mattresses they don't. They say they have 24-hour concierge they don't. They say they have a pool bar but it's not open. They say they have barbecue grills I didn't see any. And I wrote them a letter they said that they checked everything and it was fine. I will never stay there and I hope hotels.com doesn't list them anymore it was that bad and I use this app often I wish I had taken photos. If you get a room with the law the stairs going up to it are so small they are dangerous. I paid for 2 days up front and I left after 1 it was so horrible and they refused to give a refund even for the day I did not use

The property is totally run down in many ways. But the most annoying thing was I seem to spend half my time in the room killing bugs of all kinds...many mosquitos, roaches and moths...disgusting. Many other things to complain about but too numerous to get into on here.

The gardens and pool were excellent. The buildings look great but they are in need of renovations - ie: the wood forms in the bathroom was rotten and had ants through the area I almost put my hand through. Mosquitoes were an issue despite the screen on the outside of the patio - a little maintenance around the edges would fix. The location is excellent - 100 meters (or less) from pool to beach with several restaurants and shops all near.

The hotel is clean and well maintained. The swimming pool is pretty attractive. The neighborhood is a bit seedy at night. The main issue was that on the hottest night electricity was going off. The backup generator was not sufficient to keep a/c running all the time. But this is a systemic issue in Samana .

Great location... uncomfortable beds.

Workers at El Paseo were really friendly and the location was great! The downside was that the beds were really uncomfortable. It's definitely time to change them! As said, the location of the hotel is great because it's really close to the beach and restaurants but still offers some peace and quiet. The rooms were clean but need more ventilation (some were smelly) and we saw rat poop on the floor... For a budget hotel it's OK...

Nice place near the beach and restaurants. Supermarket is only 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Thi girl on reception speaks English and always ready to help. They also provide a lot of information about nearby services and prices which helps a lot especially if you don`t know Spanish

I was there to spend some time with my girlfriend

I did not demand much from the hotel facilities, so I cannot comment on everything. The rooms were spotless, everything worked, they were cleaned when we returned in the evening, the furniture was in top condition and the staff was very nice. When I left, they presented me with a calendar as a gift, which was a sweet detail. For a very affordable, enjoyable stay, I recommend La Residencia del Paseo.

Hotel is very nice. Close to the beach and shops. Bike rent just across the road, no passport required. The room was clean and had all necessary equipment. Territtory is beautiful. We even saw colibri there. Not far from the road but very quiet place. No cockroaches or other big insects. Just some mosquitoes like everywhere on the island. Room service use mosquito repellent during each cleaning and you can buy a cream, fumigator or repellen in any shop for a couple of bucks. This place is good for long term stay.

The hotel is well situated and the staff friendly and helpful. The facility in general was OK except...and this was a big problem...there were tons of these little moths, fleas and mosquitoes in my room and not just because of the nature of the environment the hotel is situated in. For some strange reason there are gaps above and below the windows of 2 to 3 inches and there is about an inch of space under the doorway entrance. This allows easy access for bugs to move into your room and they do. Everyday I was swatting them off the walls, ceiling and floors and furniture...not pleasant. And the cleaning lady was probably told to leave the door wide open when they clean your room...this allows them to enter as well. I gave the room comfort a rating of 1 because it's not pleasant being in a room invaded by moths and mosquitoes and fleas.

Disappointing!

Spent hours in reception area (instead of enjoying my stay with my family) because they \"could not find my reservation\" -let alone my frustration and indignation-, even though I printed out my confirmation and handed it to them. I had to contact the travel agency MYSELF (they then contacted the hotel to sort it out) as the lady at the reception desk said \"it was not their problem\" and I had to sort it out myself. When I asked her name, in order to file a complaint she refused to give me her last name, she said: \"I will reserve my last name\". I had been to that hotel before and the installations in general were in better condition, the pool needs urgent attention and beds and all were not hotel quality. It is a shame to have spoiled such a beautiful weekend in such a beautiful place!

This hotel is dirty and unsafe! Roaches in our room and issues with security.
Night 1: lost power, turned on cell, 2 inch roaches running around the apt! One ran across my baby's head, another across my pillow. We complained, they change our room and give us another night free.
Night 2: 12:47am someone banging at our door. No one response to \"who is it?' in English/Spanish, heard people away, saw a man & women run across the parking lot, leave the hotel.
Night 3: 4:45am pounding on the door, women was yelling to open the door in Spanish, the man inside was her client, told to leave, she kept yelling & banging. She finally left, her and a man (same people) crossing the lot, sat in the security booth, than left.
My wife went outside, found no security, took photos of the open door & locked the door. After an hour the guard returns, claims he just left for a few mins to use the bathroom (untrue), he said she was a hooker and \"my friend\", he said \"I didn't know the hotel switched your room, she was going to visit a client It was just a mistake and not her fault\". Same position from hotel when reported, a mistake.

good location. .

The room was nice however, the bathroom needed some tlc I had 2 rooms one had new towels, the other one had super old deteriorate ones.. but I talked to the front desk and they gave me some new ones. We also experience a night without electricity for about 45 minutes. . That was extremely disturbing for my kids..and super uncomfortable for all of us. But overall the hotel is in a perfect location and the girls at the services desk are super friendly.

Great location

Great location and decent value. I was alone, but the place is divided into 2 semi-rooms, with a couch, so I'm sure more than two people could squeeze in if need be. The kitchen was really nice to have (and some basics, like a few dishes, can opener, etc., are included)! The location was terrific -- a couple minutes' walk to the beach (though some nicer spots were longer walks) and near the heart of everything. There is easy parking. I did not use the pool or bar. I admit that I got a deal on the place, but for me, it served my purposes really well.

Certainly NOT a 3 stars hotel

The rooms are relatively spacious. I rented a twin room which consisted of two rooms, a small kitchen and a balcony. We were four people. The hotel is not in a state that we will consider a 3 star hotel. It was way overpriced for the quality offered. This hotel could qualify as 1 star and half or 2 stars at the most.

It could have been better.

The room distribution was not confortable at all. It fell cramped and too small. The bathroom was not spotless and the decor was somewhat unattractive. Service was poor, bar was poor. The city went on a blackout and there was no backup generator for more then one day. You can imagine the rest. We ended up leaving after the first night

The staff was pretty friendly and even helped me out when my car battery died.

Really I just did not see the 90 USD price tag, When it was not a real shower or a real kitchen. Come on throw in a stove or a Microwave. And the 80's is calling you for your television. The Wifi did not reach back to my \"duplex\" unless I sat on the balcony which was nice. A little extra lighting would not hurt.

The best place to stay in Las Terrenas!

I think the staff here is just the beginning of a great stay. They are wonderful people who are always helpful and always smiling. From chef Jazmin, who cooks from the heart, to the maintenance men who work hard all day keeping the area nice and pretty to the cleaning women who make the rooms amazing and finally to the receptionist staff who always answer you questions with a smile and a \"good day\" I love this hotel so much we stayed an additional week and might stay longer. Can't wait to come back to DR and stay here again. OOOHHH it also helps its literally 10 steps to the beach!

Great hotel to experience Dominican Republic

Good conditions for the price. Do not expect 5 stars hotel, but there are decent conditions for the price you pay. Beautiful pool and friendly staff. We wanted to cook ourselfs and to experience the living in the Dominican Rep. They have guarded parking and just few steps from the beach, shops and restaurants.
Overall is worthing to stay there.

This hotel needs to be upgraded

The best aspect of this hotel is the very short walk to the center of town, shops, restaurants etc. Rooms leave much to be desired, quite outdated as I have read in other reviews. We had a twin room with a loft as that was all that was available but did not use the loft as no TV up there or much furniture. Old fashioned TV (not flat panel as advertised). The only english channel CNN had a fault with the picture. We did not swim in the pool as it was always cloudy. First time I have seen a hotel pool not clear and inviting. No breakfast in room rate. Beach bar offered limited food but it was better to go into town for all meals. Staff generally helpful. This hotel needs modernising.

This hotel was in a great location very close to the hustle and bustle of Las Terrenas. There was a private pool in the back that was very nice, but unfortunately the hotel did not offer breakfast and the rooms were pretty outdated. However, there was a fridge and plenty of utensils so it's great for cooking or a longer-term stay!

The rooms smell the stench of mildew is overwhelming. The hotel is located in the perfect location, they have a nice pool. The towels were bleach stained, the faucet was cracked so water went everywhere when we turned it on.

Cheap and convenient hotel for a group.

Just one thing I would like to mention. There was no hot water. I stayed here once before and there was plenty of hot water but this time no matter how long we let the water run it never became hot. It was barely warm.

The hotel was different from my previous hotels. It had its own kitchen and once we found the mini market that was close by it was easy to use. I think three location of the hotel was superb, close to everything. Also very quiet At night. The room itself was in need of a little touch up, other than that very good.

Dirty rooms but convenient location

Hotel Residencia Paseo is conveniently located but not located on Calle Duarte as stated. We drove on Calle Duarte but couldn't find it. It's actually located on another street that I can't remember (we drove around and just stumbled upon the hotel). When we asked the receptionist about this, she acknowledged this and said that Las Terranas is crazy that way. She only spoke Spanish but she was nice and gave us a \"better room\". However, the \"better room\" was dirty. There was hair on the bathroom floor and everything was old and outdated. The room was like a loft; you had to take narrow stairs to get to the bed. The pool did look nice and the receptionist was friendly. We were only there for one night so didn't make a big deal about the state of the room but I definitely wouldn't return there.

OK, but would not reccommend.

The hotel is in the middle of all the action: shops, restaurants and bars. It is not exactly on the beach, but you just have to walk two minutes and there you are. However, i think that the administration needs to invest a little more on the bed, sheets and towels as they are in poor condition. The kitchen works fine. Besides those points it worked perfect for us, but would not reccommend unless we know that the condition has improved.

This hotel is not fancy but is clean and has a friendly helpful staff. When we arrived, we found that the toilet was not working. We were moved immediately to another room. In That room the air conditioner did not work but they brought us a fan. The beds are not thatcomfortable. If you can put up with these inconveniences you will be ok. The location is great and the price can't be beat.

\"A little hidden\" but good for the price

This hotel is on a side street two blocks from the ocean. I wish we could have found hotel map to this hotel on a website or through expedia because we had a heck of a time finding it. It is not on the coast which means it is affordable. It is across from a wonderful French bakery adding value to its location because breakfast is not included in the stay. Free Internet in the rooms! Lots of mosquitoes in the rooms (not a problem unless the windows are left open which ours were upon entering) but there are mosquito nets for the bed. The bathrooms are very outdated (no shower curtains to protect the toilets) and not glamorous but there is hot water. Towels are pretty old but clean. Air conditioning works well and there is a fully stocked kitchen with refrigerator and counter top stove so if you want to cook in your room, reheat left overs and eat on the balcony or keep refreshments cooled down you are set. This hotel is a budget good buy. I would stay here again but not necessarily recommend it to my friends.

La habitación tenía muy poca luz, humedad y bichos y estaba sucia. Necesita una reforma URGENTE.
La zona de la cocina no era usable, la nevera olía a podrido y los utensilios estaban oxidados.
Pedimos un cambio de habitación y nos dijeron que tenían todo ocupado (el hotel parecía vacío). En 3 días no entraron a limpiar.
Aunque el entorno del hotel es bonito y cuidado, la piscina estaba sucia.
Recomendamos alojarse en otra zona.

Primeramente el lugar no está tan mal para el precio que pague pero el único inconveniente fue que la persona que limpió mi habitación se llevó ropa de mi hijo, aparte no había papel de baño ni jabones ni cremas para bañarse, por lo demás hubo una buena atención de parte del señor José Emanuel que es el muchacho de seguridad.
