Hotel Kvarner is a wonderful historical property. The staff was excellent and they were very caring and attentive to our needs.
Just a few words of caution - parking is a little difficult (everywhere in Opatija), lots of stairs in the hotel entrance and to the pool and sunning platform, and the rooms have \"high\" bathtubs / showers.
We managed through those items. The view from our sea side room was spectacular and the included breakfast was a real treat - probably the best in Opatija!!
Just a few words of caution - parking is a little difficult (everywhere in Opatija), lots of stairs in the hotel entrance and to the pool and sunning platform, and the rooms have \"high\" bathtubs / showers.

The hotel premises and rooms were very impressive. We enjoyed the beach and the pool and the breakfast (although they should figure out a way to keep the pigeons away from the breakfast). However, parking was a big negative - your website says \"parking available,\" but when we arrived we were told there was no room and sent to a nearby garage. I was told how to get to the garage but not how to get out of it, and ended up going down a dead-end street that caused great difficulty in turning around. On top of which the garage charged me 77 euros (cash only) for two days. Worse, when I asked the hotel if they could get us parking our last night, so we could check out easily, I was told Yes, but when we arrived back from dinner later that night the person on duty had no knowledge of that and insisted that no parking was available. Very badly handled all around.

A very disappointing experience. While the building is nice, the service at the spa is nice, but the rest of the experience certainly doesn’t match a 4* hotel !
First : you arrive, at the “parking” : they let you in, but although there are empty spots, they claim the park is full so you have to get out and go to “a very useful garage next to it”… they didn’t even let us check in : we had to get out of the parking first… welcome !!! They also didn’t tell us that this useful parking was twice as expensive as their claimed parking spots on the hotel site : 48€ a day instead of claimed 25.
Then : let’s be clear : Superior room means “basic room”, and if you don’t pay for sea view, be honest and don’t say “city view” but parking view : you know : the one we didn’t get a place in…..!!
When you’re really lucky : you get the 101 room : for disabled people… and if you’re not disabled before, you really risk being it after : the bathroom is so dangerous : the showerhead hanging in corner, no separation (even a curtain) : you spray water everywhere, and having to make 3 meters on such a slippery floor….amazing… the sink is broken and the mirror has no light : the only light bulb is over the towels, 3m behind you !! And finally if you want to go to the toilet, be prepared : we had to ask 3 times over 2 hours time to have some toilet paper…
And finally, you know the parking lot ? It is also the delivery place, at morning, when trucks arrive…

I loved this beautiful, old, historic hotel! I'm so happy we decided to stay here.... from check in to check out it was a wonderful experience. The promenade is just off the Terrace and it is such a wonderful stroll by the water. We had a sea view and it was just stunning.

Well this is a weird one… on the surface Hotel Kvarner is fabulous, glamorous even and the breakfast is truly exceptional - champagne anyone?! Little details however betray its pretentions… the layout of the room (215) was very awkward with too much big furniture to get round and it was impossible to shower (over the bath) without flooding the floor - why are there no rooms with showers? While citing sustainable credentials on towel use, the policy was not followed and all the towels were replaced after single use. And we found a hair grip on the floor after the room was cleaned. The setting is spectacular - the 9m square sea water pool nice to have but a bit odd given direct access to the sea - tho. it’s not a private ‘beach’ as stated. It’s a real pity the indoor pool is no longer available as an alternative to sea water swimming. And, oh I nearly forgot, apparently there were no black tea bags available anywhere in the hotel to provide for our room - despite asking four times - why didn’t someone just go out and buy some? Don’t get me wrong, we loved staying here and the majority of staff were charming and helpful - just odd!

Beautiful hotel. This hotel is from another era but completely renovated and impeccably maintained. Beautiful property, photos probably don’t do it justice. Spa is also very, very nice. Breakfast buffet was also incredible and included with the room. Views on the outdoor veranda are beautiful too. Do yourself a favor and stay here. The surrounding area is also quite beautiful. Lots of upscale shopping and restaurants.

Absolutely wonderful place at a perfect location in the touristic hotspot. Most restaurants, bars in walking distance and directly at the sea. Rooms are very clean and the view wonderful.

Luxurious, but affordable stay
Hotel Kvarner is one of these old, turn-of-the-century hotels that put you in a time machine. Yet make no mistake, this hotel is remodeled and clean. It is somewhat luxurious, but not stuffy. And the people who work there are nice and helpful. I have to say, for the money probably a really, really good deal.

The hotel has a wonderful history and is located ideally in Opatjia. On the water, near shops and restaurants, the hotel was clean and nice. Food was good and the staff very nice.

Leider hat es viel zu wenig Liegestühle am Pool und am Beach. Wenn man nicht wie alle anderen bereits um 7h Morgens reserviert, hat man keine Chance mehr. Das Personal ist sich dessen bewusst und tut wirklich alles um eine Lösung zu finden, aber leider vergebens. Vielleicht sollte der Manager einfach mehr Liegebetten kaufen und diese nicht auch noch auf die Holzliegebretter stellen lassen! Die Terrasse ist wunderschön und gross. Leider ist die Tischverteilung so eingerichtet, dass genau 4 Tische im Schatten sind und alle anderen in der Sonne. Frühstück in der Hitze und mit voller Sonne im Gesicht… Das Hotel wäre sonst sehr schön, die Lage wunderbar und das Personal hilfsbereit und freundlich. Schade, aber wir kommen nicht mehr

We only stayed one night as we were travelling but wished it were more. The hotel is top quality with excellent facilities plus being in a waterside location. We cant comment on dinner but the breakfast offering was the best we have ever experienced which can be taken indoors or outside on the terrace. Fantastic, will return.

Our experience at the hotel was jaded by the rudeness we experienced at checkin. This followed with being lied to by the staff.
Coincidently we were not alone. Each time I went to reception there was another guest there complaining.
To their credit they eventually apologised (after I asked if they planned to apologise) and offered a modest discount. However money can not replace days of holiday spoilt.
The location is ok. Beautiful out look. Great walking track in either direction along the coast. Ease access to swim in the sea. Downside is the night club next door with thumping music until the early hours.
The property is run down and in need of refurbishment. The floor in our room was lifting due to water damage. There were large patches in plaster. Mould in the bathroom. The shower leaked and we had to use the towels to mop water all over the floor.
Breakfast was below average. Poor quality produce.

The staff provided outstanding service and are very friendly. The rooms are large and in good condition. The breakfast included was a bountiful selection each morning and we felt the price was a great value.
There are many attractions in walking distance. Truly enjoyed the live entertainment at the hotel each evening. Would definitely return.

Old school riviera luxury. Excellent restaurant / small menu but superb cuisine. Very replacing. Hotel next door music was late and loud, but it was a weekend so probably ok other days. Only item to note is that the main access point off highway is closed and it's circuitous to get to town - heads up would have been nice. Overall very nice, would stay again.

I had booked a sea view room but the view was obstructed by trees. The manager moved me to a better room. Also I was leaving very early & they gave me a lunch to go since I wouldn't be there for the included breakfast. I did request the lunch & don't know if they would have offered it voluntarily. Someone who lives in Opatija told me to ask for the lunch. So something to keep in mind. Would stay here again. Great location.

Our room had been recently refurbished; bedroom and bathroom first class in every respect (except no tissues!). Breakfast and dinner buffets provided a huge choice at very modest cost and the terrace was ideal for outdoor eating. Indoor and outdoor pools were both sea water, very clean but the outside pool was colder than the sea! Strange though for a 4 star hotel to charge for use of sun loungers. No library of books. Overall very satisfied.

The hotel was right in the centre of Opatija on the seaside, very convinient; reception and dining rooms were quite grand but the room was somewhat outdated. Service was good, nice breakfast offered on the terrace with seaviews. Had to park though in the car park few streets away as the car park at the hotel was fully booked. Little pricey considering the condition of the room.

The interior of this hotel needs to be completely re done. It looks like nothing has been upgraded since been built. The picture showing on line are not at all the same as existing . This hotel should not be more than a two stars. Pool was empty. Price was way too expensive for the quality you get. Will never go back to this hotel.

Vilket underbart hotell! Från det ögonblick vi kom till vi checkade ut var det helt enastående! Personalen var otroligt trevliga, rummet fantastiskt med strålande utsikt över Kvarnerbukten, sängen var så skön och frukosten lämnade ingenting att önska. Härligt att sola och bada vid den egna stranden med gratis solstolar. Dessutom var hela hotellet vackert som en dröm. Det enda lite jobbiga var alla duvor vid frukosten men det avhjälps ju om man äter inomhus. Vi längtar redan tillbaka!

Die Anreise war allerdings etwas holprig: Die Parksituation ist schwierig (25 €/Tag, zu wenige Plätze) und beim Check-in wirkte das Team zunächst überfordert, was unfreundlich rüberkam. Da ich ein Handicap habe, war das Parken für mich besonders mühsam. Schließlich hat sich ein Mitarbeiter für die Unannehmlichkeiten entschuldigt und mein Auto geparkt.
Das Zimmer war geräumig, sauber, gut ausgestattet (Safe, TV, Spiegel, Schrank, Slipper, Bademäntel, Pflegeprodukte) und das Bett sehr bequem. Housekeeping war freundlich. Kritikpunkt: Badewanne statt Dusche – unpraktisch und rutschig, weil man unweigerlich das Badezimmer flutet.
Die Lage ist perfekt: direkt an der Promenade, ruhig trotz Nähe zu Lokalen. Am Pool und Strand gibt es immer freie Liegen (besetzte Liegen werden freigeräumt, inkl. Handtücher), alles sauber und mit Service. Getränke und Snacks lassen sich auch an den Strand mitnehmen.
Frühstück ist top: Buffet plus unbegrenzte à-la-carte-Gerichte, sehr lecker und mit freundlichem Service. Nervig sind nur die Tauben auf der Terrasse (das Hotel kann aber nichts dafür), drinnen sitzen geht aber.

Synes parkeringen var dyrt. Badene var ikke vasket godt. Veldig lei meg når du betaler 4000kr en natt og det skjer. Vi tok et rom med sjøutsikt og balkong/ terasse. Fikk det rommet som hadde minst sjøutsikt og veldig liten terasse. Frokosten er dårligere en før, ingen eggerøre :( Bare hardkokte egg, måtte spørre om å få kaffe. Veldig dårlig sørvis på frokosten. Han som tar imot bilene og kjører de til parkeringen er super hyggelig og hun som var i resepsjonen var super hyggelig. Bassenget var helt fantastisk. Synes prisen er alt for høy til standarden på hotellet. En natt her ville jeg ha betalt 2000kr ikke noe mer når du ser at rommene burde pusses opp, mange sprukkede vegger og noe var sparklet men ikke malt :(

Imposantes und sehr gut erhaltenes Hotel mit dem Charme aus dem letzten Jahrhundert. Sehr aufmerksames Personal mit Bedienung von Kaffee und Ei-Spezialitäten am Tisch. Frühstück auf der großen Terrasse mit Meerblick. Zimmer und Fassade in Top Zustand. Exklusiver Zugang mit Liegen und Sonnenschirmen am Strand. Wir haben auch um 11 Uhr noch immer 2 Liegen und Schirm gefunden. Freundliches SERVICE Personal für Gepäck und Auto.

Schlecht war das es am letzten tag abends kein warmes wasser mehr gab. Scheinbar im ganzen hotel. Personal war bemüht konnte aber wohl nichts tun. Da hätte das hotel entgegenkommender sein können bei der Rechnung..

Das Kvarner hat zwar nur 4 Sterne, ist aber de facto das 5-Sterne-Hotel schlechthin. Vom Valet, der einem das Auto parkt, zum Maitre, der einen beim Namen nennt und die Hand gibt, zum elegant livrierten Personal, das einem mit freundlicher Professionalität umsorgt. Hervorragendes Frühstück, serviert auf der mondänen Seeterrasse. Herrliche Badeplattform zum direkten Sprung in die Adria. Die Lage ist die beste ganz Istriens, umgeben von dem immergrünen k.u.k Park. Wenn Opatija (das ja ziemlich altmodisch ist), dann so!
Zu mosern gibt es eigentlich nur, dass es auf der Stadtseite am Wochenende doch ziemlich Party-laut war. Und natürlich, dass man sich das Kvarner halt leisten wollen muss.

Sehr freundliches Personal, große Zimmer, gigantisches Frühstücksbuffet. Tolle Lage und schöner Blick auf das Meer. Es hat alles gepasst, bis auf die Parkplatzlösung. Leider sind nicht genug Parkplätze vorhanden. Es muss auf den Parkplatz eines anderen Hotels ausgewichen werden. Dafür auch 25 Euro zu nehmen, finde ich übertrieben und nicht korrekt.
