We had booked this hotel with one of the options for an elevator. Upon arrival we found out we had to go up 2 flights of stairs then get an elevator that too with out someone helping us with our bags. I have a knee issue and informed the hotel staff but I guess they don’t care. No apology either. Same thing when we checked out. No help with our bags. Will not recommend this hotel. :(

The hotel is located in a handy position for getting about to different restaurants. The facilities at the hotel are excellent, the wellness area with the sauna with the most incredible view - not to be missed.
Great breakfast buffet with lots of choice and catering to all sorts of dietary requirements.
My only negatives…our room was rather small and felt in need of renovation. It was comfortable but the carpet was a bit tatty and had marks on it. Perhaps there are plan to improve this part of the hotel.
Also not ideal having loud, live music that went on until midnight. Sleeping was troublesome during that those evenings!
The pool bar closed at 5 which we felt was a little early given how many people were still around the pool area.
A great place to visit and despite a few niggles, we would return. Perhaps to a different room!

This hotel definitely needs an overhaul. The carpets were dirty and threadbare and the decor totally dated. The staff at the front desk were cold. The only saving Grace was the breakfast buffet - it was best I’ve ever experienced.

False photos & appalling service from Hotels.com

Firstly, credit where it's due- the photographer for this hotel deserves an award. This is two hotels joined together, one of which (grand hotel I) they have started to refurbish. Unsurprisingly, all the photos are from the refurbished parts, grand hotel II looks like if you walked into a best western that hadn't been updated in 40 years. When I asked the receptionist if we could move as the room was nothing like the photos, she was sympathetic (they get it a lot) but none of the 'newer' rooms have balconies and not many have sea views.
They would do nothing towards a refund or gesture (the photos are so fake that there is one making the pool look as though it is directly in front of the hotel, where a pool normally is, rather than the reality of crossing a car park and road), and hotels.com did virtually nothing to help - yet they're willing to take their cut, of course.
Don't expect to use the pool, people queue to put their towels down at 8.30am or whenever it opens, and then leave the loungers largely unoccupied. The area of Opatija is nice, but this hotel is nothing short of horrendous.

Our room badly need makeover, outdated furniture and mold in bathroom, we book three bed in a room, looking new on the photos, and we got two room instead.
Receptionist told us there’s no out room available so she decide to give us those two rotten rooms.
Parking is 100kn/day.
Spa is the worst, rust and electric cables around...

Well meaning staff in a hotel needing an infusion

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. It is a historical hotel that also can accommodate conferences. The room was fine except that the desk and chair do not fit in the space allotted !? Small room does not equate to a 4 star hotel. This is a 3 star hotel. Pluses are a buffet breakfast and dinner is available. e outdoor pool is great if you get there before others do so good luck. Paid Parking?

The location was central to everything, easy to park the car and just walk around. Great ocean views too. The hotel itself needs a bit of a face lift, it seemed a bit run down and awkward to get to our room. If you can't take the stairs this is not the hotel for you. We had to climb stairs to get to the elevator and then the elevator stops in between floors so you have to go up or down to get to your room. Since having knee surgery recently this was not the best choice for us.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel in any respect. Room allocated was at the back of the hotel - no soundproof and the noise from the road was deplorable and resulted in getting no sleep. View from the room was of crumbling concrete falling off room facades. Food was below the standard expected of a 4 star establishment! Would not recommend and will not be returning!

There is NO parking at the hotel... and you have to pay a meter to park on the street...
And the hotel was unwilling and unable to provide sufficient coins to put in the parking ticket machine...

Fabulous hotel close to the boardwalk and downtown

This hotel is one of the best I have ever stayed at. The staff were very accomodating, answering my many questions, allowing me to use their phone in the lobby to resolve a reservation problem with another hotel, let us check in early. Breakfast was exceptional, bed very comfortable, very modern room. Swimming pool, sauna etc. were an amazing bonus. Very reasonably priced

Fantastic Stay!

I've stayed in Opatija a few times and this is by far the best hotel i've stayed at. Amazing view (pay the few extra dollars for sea view room), great service, walking distance to lots of amenities. The pool/spa area is fantastic and it may be the most elaborate \"included breakfast\" i've ever seen. Usually most hotel breakfast options in Europe is some toast and coffee, but this was just massive with well over 50 things to choose from. Omelet station, freshly made crepes, actual huge piece of ham you can cut slices off yourself, the options and quality of food actually put me in mind of what you'd see at a buffet in 5 star Caribbean resort. Seriously if you're thinking of staying in the northern coastal area of Croatia, don't bother shopping around, just stay here!

The Hotel was very good, it was very clean, very friendly and has a great location to the see. The room could have been a little larger, especially for people, who has more bags to open.
The half board food was superb and fresh. The Grand Hotel Adriatic has made our stay in the town Apatija with its great and exceptional beauty and location to an unforgettable stay for years to come.

dinner buffet was a catastrophe. The restaurant chef knew that we were waiting but he helped the local people to be seated first. By the time we went to the buffet, no hot meats left and no replacement at all. The spaghetti Carbonara was the only dish we could grab. Breakfast was good because we went late so that the tourist groups left already.

Lots of steps but lovely hotel

Hotel is a bit of a climb with many steps, even the lifts are between floors with stairs up/down to rooms but the hotel was lovely,clean and had good facilities. Staff were always friendly and polite and willing to help. Breakfast was plentiful and varied but we didn't take the full board option as its pre-prepared and we prefer freshly cooked.

A bit tired

Rooms are clean but tired. We had a double in the newer part facing the sea. It was a great view, but rooms are quite small and not modernly functional, ie no room for two suitcases and being able to get around the room! The shower was pretty ordinary, there is a curtin but the floor gets wet. The shower rosette was awful and the toilet seat was broken. The breakfasts were great and the location was good, not in the centre but a walkable distance. I know this sounds negative, but all in all it was reasonable for the price.

I specifically chose this hotel because they impressed me with their services the first time we visited. I plan to use this hotel on my next two visits, as well.

Intruder walking into our hotel room at 3am

We have been staying in many Hotels around Croatia for the past couple of weeks, have had great stays until we stayed at the Grand Hotel Adriatic.

1. The phone in our room was not working - we asked reception if we can have this fixed, they sent someone up while we were out and they did not or could not fix it ( they did not let us know anything until check out)

2. The Internet was useless, half the time our connection was out and when it was connected it was slower then dial up. - it was such a long walk to the reception that we could not be bothered taking the time to go and try to get this fixed especially when they couldnt even fix our room phone.

3. At 3am we got woken up by an intruder entering our room, when they realised my partner had gotten up they quickly ran out.
At 9am again someone just made their way in unlocking the door without knocking and again, when they saw us in the room they quickly ran out. (Our room phone still not operating so there was no way to contact reception or anybody for that matter)

4. Lastly I probably wouldn't go on about usually but the walk from car park to reception and then to our room was the longest out of any hotel I have ever stayed at, not to mention the amount of steps you have to carry your luggage up and down.

Beautiful view!! Close to everything in the small town of Opatija (sp?), HUGE buffet breakfast with everything...more quantity than quality but definitely worth getting up for. WiFi only works in the lobby, but with that view you should really be out and about anyway! Would surely stay there again.

Service war sehr gut, jedoch sind die Zimmer keine 4 Sterne wert, höchstens 2 Sterne. Sehr klein, es hat keine Nachtkästchen neben dem Bett, keine Steckdosen neben dem Bett. Im Bad war die Fußbodenheizung auf volle Power. Ohne Schuhe konnte man im Bad nicht stehen, obwohl wir es beanstandet hatten, kam keiner um es zu auszuschalten. Das Adriatic II ist ein etwas in die Jahre gekommenes (immer noch?) Grandhotel.
Unser Meerblick-Zimmer was sehr eng und roch nicht frisch.
Der Frühstücksraum ist (wie die Lobby) extrem laut, aber qualitativ gut.
Aufgrund einer Hochzeit war die Parksituation sehr angespannt; man verwies mich auf einen Außenparkplatz.
Ich würde es nicht noch einmal buchen.

Also Hotel ist wirklich sehr schön wie auf den Fotos. Zum Pool kommt man allerdings erst wenn man über eine kleine Straße läuft ist auf den Bildern nicht zu sehen.
Parkplatz Gebühren zu hoch. Zimmer etwas zu eng. Mitarbeiter nicht wirklich hilfsbereit.
Aber wenn man nur da schläft und bisschen Pool und Wellness benutzt dann sehr schön.
Pool und Wellness area als auch Lobby Bereich sehr schön sauber und stilvoll.

Im grosen und ganzen ein schönes Hotel und freundliche Mitarbeiter. Was mich gestört hat, es gibt kein All Inclusive Angebot nur entweder mit Frühstück oder Halbpension mit Abbendessen.
Das Problem bei Halbpension ist, beim Abbendessen muss mann anwesend sein und mann wird mit der Zimmernummer registriert ob mann da war, wenn mann nicht teilnehmen möchte muss mann sich mindestend einen Tag zuvor abmelden sonnst bezahlt mann wieder extra. Beim Abbendessen gibt es keine Kostenlose Getränke, nicht mal Wasser, bei Dem Preis für die Unterkunft sollte aber zumindest ein Wasserspender zum Büffet dazugehören!! Wenn mann was trinken will wird mann am Tisch bedient und mann Zahlt halt für ne 0,2 liter Coca Cola knapp 4 Euro, Wasser kostet auch Soviel und wird am tag der Abbreise dann berechnet was mann getrunken hat!! Vorm Hotel gibt es keine Parkplätze, das Hotel hat ein Parkhaus, was mann aber auch nicht weiß ist wenn mann das Parkhaus nutz muss mann es am Tag der Abbreise auch noch extra bezahlen, das macht dann nochmal pro Tag 1o Euro extra!! Also es istein schönes Hotel so schon nicht gerade billig, aber die Extra versteckten Kosten sollten absolut nicht sein für dem Preis!! Es war eine gute zeit aber buchen werde ich es nicht mehr!!

Hotel je mrvicu izvan centra mjesta, nekih deset minuta lagane šetnje od autobusne stanice. Na uzvisini je pa oni koji se teže kreću mogu imati problema s prilaskom ako ne dolaze vozilom nego pješice, ali u Opatiji je ionako većina objekata smještena na brdašcima. Hotel je obnovljen, iznimno je čist, osoblje je ljubazno i spremno pomoći, a soba s pogledom na more je zaista soba s pogledom na more. I to kakvim pogledom!
Bazen je relativno malen i kada smo ga posjetili bila je neviđena gužva, a hrana na doručku je poprilično bezukusna i izbor nije onakav kakav bi se očekivao od hotela ove kategorije.
Sve u svemu, solidna vrijednost za novac. Ako bismo se morali izraziti brojkom, naš bi odmor u ovome hotelu ocijenili s 7,6/10

Der Pool ist unschlagbar!

Das Hotel hat meine Erwartungen definitiv erfüllt. Das Personal war sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Am Frühstücksbuffet ist für jedermann etwas zu finden. Allerdings kann man die Qualität des Essens mit Mittelmaß titulieren, was aber durchaus in Ordnung ist. Das Zimmer war sauber und schön, vielleicht etwas platzsparend. Dafür ist der Pool unschlagbar und einfach nur fantastisch. Er ist genauso schön wie man es von den Bildern erwartete. Man sollte aber frühzeitig dort erscheinen, da es wenige Liegeplätze gibt.
Von der tollen und gehobenen Essensqualität in der Umgebung war ich angenehm überrascht.

Ein kastatrophales Hotel, das fängt bei den mikro kleinen Zimmern an und eben für diese Zimmern die überhöhten Preise. Wlan funktionierte überhaupt nicht. Der Frühstücksraum war am Morgen total überfühlt und dementsprechend gab es auch nur eine kleine Auswahl an Speisen.
Zu den Fahrstühlen gelangt man nur über eine Treppe!!! Wir werden in Zukunft um dieses Hotel einen großen Bogen machen.

Zimmer war staubig und dunkel, Balkon ziemlich heruntergekommen. Definitiv keine 163€ pro Nacht wert!!! Poolliegen waren den ganzen Tag mit Handtüchern reserviert, keine Chance auf eine Liege! Mitarbeiter unfreundlich, außer Dario, der war sehr hilfsbereit und kompetent!! Eine einzige Enttäuschung!

Fina men små rum, fin pool

Ett hotell med 2 delar: det ena är 3-stjärnigt, den andra delen 4-stjärnigt tydligen. Vi bodde i den 3-stjärniga delen. Där var rummen helt nyrenoverade och fräscha men väldigt små och utan balkong. Jag stördes av trafik från gatan under hela natten. Frukosten samt middagen (som ingick i paketpriset) var en smärte besvikelse. Ingen katastrof, det fanns mycket att välja på, men vi jämförde det med hotellet mittemot (Remisens Hotel Admiral) och på det hotellet så var både frukost och middag mycket bättre. Utomhuspoolen är fin mot havet och har en bra poolbar. Inomhuspoolen var vi aldrig till. Det som sänkte helhetsbetyget för vår del var servicen vid receptionen. När vi checkade in så frågade receptionisten vad vi betalade genom Hotels.com . Jag sa att det var ca 1500kr / natt inkl. frukost och middag. Då sa han att genom dom hade samma kostat 110 Euro? Alltså med frukost och middag?? Försökte ringa Hotels.com ang detta men det var så lång kö så vi lät inte detta förstöra vår semesterdag. Men våra kompisar som anlände något senare blev lovade 110 euro över disk med frukost och middag. Men både på middagbuffén och när vi skulle checka ut så började man krångla och säja att han skulle behöva betala extra för middagen, som inte alls ingick? Till slut så gav dom med sej om priset, pga att båda jag och min kompis hörde ju han säja 110 euro dan innan? Förutom detta så är hotellet helt okey, men är det någolunda samma pris på Admiral mittemot gatan, skulle välja det hotellet istället.

Es war ok!

Das Hotel ist ok, entspricht seiner Kategorie, sehr sauber, die Lage ist gut. Parkgarage (13,00 Euro/Tag) teuer, aber gut, groß. Nur das Zimmer war sehr, sehr klein, kein Platz um die Koffer zu stellen/legen. Frühstück war gut. Nur bei check in und auch bei check out hat es lang gedauert, wir müssen ungefähr 15 Minuten warten, und es war nicht Ferien.

Infinity Pool hat mir sehr gut gefallen, generell die Poolanlage war super!
Nicht gefallen haben mir die Preise an der Poolbar, im Bad war das frische Handtuch dreckig und der Teppichboden ist auch nichts für mich! Weiteres war unten am Meer eine Baustelle und auch keine Sonnenliegen vorhanden!

Personale gentile, tuttavia, dato anche il costo del soggiorno, mi sarei aspettata di meglio. Stanza talmente piccola da non permettere di transitare in due nello stesso momento. Lavori in corso ovunque, alcuni apparentemente abbandonati (ad esempio noi avevamo la camera sul retro, con vista su macerie e rifiuti). Piscina esterna molto bella, ma molto trascurata, acqua sporca, ombrelloncini mezzi rotti e che cadevano ad ogni colpo di vento. Colazione assolutamente deludente (brioches fiappe, dolci non freschi, pancackes o omelettes -non si capiva- lasciate nel piatto perchè crude!!! poca scelta in generale per chi come me non mangia salato a colazione). Succhi di frutta mai bevuti prima d'ora: diluiti in modo imbarazzante e inequivocabile.

vistas al Mar

Esta situado a unos 10 minutos del centro histórico y paseo marítimo, zona de difícil aparcamiento (el hotel tiene parking a 9€ el día), las habitaciones con vistas mar están bien, con unas buenas vistas del mar, la ducha del baño es incomoda ya que no cierra la bañera la mampara.

Proveli smo 3 dana s nasom bebom od 9 mjeseci i bilo je lijepo. Pogled s balkona na Rijeku je top, pogotovo sad kad je bilo vatrometa povodom Nove Godine.

Das Hotel hat einen tollen Infinity Pool und auch die Wellness Zone ist gut ausgestattet.
Das Zimmer war eher klein, aber trotzdem schön, das Bad war sehr schön!
Das Frühstücksbuffet ist sehr reichhaltig, das Abendbuffet ist auch gut, aber das Angebot an warmen Speisen ist etwas dürftig, verglichen mit dem Preis von 127 Kuna.

Hotel Adriatic II was built in 1970-1. Architect Branko Znidarec (b. 1937) designed a stunning modern and expressive building overlooking the Adriatic sea, However the exterior is most original the original interior has ben modernized. Sad. Rooms are comfy, breakfast is generous.

Empfehlenswert als Ausgangspunkt

Als Ausgangspunkt für Erkundungstouren durch Istrien und die Kvarner Bucht eignet sich das Hotel bestens. Es liegt sehr zentral am Lungomare in Opatija und lädt dadurch zu regelmäßigen Stadttouren ein. Schön ist auch der große Wellnessbereich im 8. Stock, der sich als Regenalternative zum Strand super nutzen lässt. Leider ist die Parkplatzsituation vor Ort nicht gut geregelt, da man den Hotelservice (100Kuna am Tag) nutzen kann, oder sich dann selbst um Parkmöglichkeiten kümmern muss. Das ist in der Stadt meist nur kostenpflichtig möglich.

Väldigt mysigt hotell och man kände sig väl omhändertagen, då servicen var bra.
