Loved this hotel. Why? The reception was welcoming and all of the staff members were service oriented. The room was clean and had a very special view overlooking the Adriatic sea. The breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed fine dining and service during our stay. One complaint was that the room was cold the first night. That was addressed. The reason being the heating system had not begun for the fall season. We had a good night after with the professional services of housekeeping. A bonus is that the hotel has parking. We would go back again. A special thanks to Erica and Carla for the cheerful help in highlighting areas to visit in and around Opatija. Much appreciated.

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful hotel. The breakfast was amazing and the staff could not have done more to accommodate us. We had a beautiful room and were upgraded to a sea view. The pool area and dining area were also wonderful. The staff in the dining room were exceptional. We would definitely stay here again.

We were assigned a room on d third floor ( Room 330 ) supposedly an upgrade. It was like being in an attic, air conditioning was soo poor, d temperature inside felt like you were outside in d 90 degree weather. Thank God, after talking to Patric who did his very best to please n accommodate us, we were transferred to more comfortable individual rooms ( there were 6 of us ). We all slept very well after. Breakfast was very good, waiter was very attentive n gave service with a smile. The views fr d patio restaurant was amazing. Overall, we had a very nice stay, service was commendable, location is quiet n parking was available.

Hotel booked a large wedding in their hall just below our room, and only notified us the morning of our check-in, although a wedding for more than 130 people must have been scheduled weeks before. The room-shaking noise lasted until 5 am, making rest impossible. A hotel employee said that another wedding two weeks earlier had ended at 5 am, leaving the impression that this occurred frequently. The morning manager refused to honor a discount that we had been promised at check-in. I would recommend that this hotel be avoided at any time.

We enjoyed our stay at this beautifully renovated hotel. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the ocean was excellent. The hotel is situated on a cliff in the outskirts of Opatija but provides shuttle to the town. The only con was that the AC in the room wasn't cooling properly. Luckily it was a cool night so we could manage sleeping with an open window

This is nice hotel with a good pleasant staff and a good view over the Adriatic due to it being halfway up the mountain. However it is a long hard walk from the centre of town and it is difficult to locate being hidden up a long curving lane way . The rooms are clean and the breakfast is good. If you are driving it is good but not if walking.

Spectacular views
The Hotel we booked was closed on Christmas Day, however someone was there to meet us to send us to their affiliate hotel (Navis Hotel) just down the hill. It is directly built into the hillside with spectacular views. We could hear the water lapping from our balcony, and there is a small rocky beach access from the parkade. There is a sauna and pool ( did not use, but looks amazing). Good breakfast with the usual cold buffet items and hot food to order. We watched the sunrise from our bed through huge patio doors - beautiful.

Considering what we paid, this hotel was somewhat disappointing. We chose the more expensive \"Sea View Room\" and they upgraded us to a suite, so we had a lot of space including bedroom, living room bathroom, foyer, and sliding glass doors to an outdoor deck.
However, the room could best be described as \"stark\" with few amenities and poor layout. Examples include minimal counter space in the bathroom to store anything (we left our kits containing toothbrush, shampoo, etc on the floor), electrical outlets in inconvenient places (none near the desk), and no TV in the bedroom. In addition, we had to stand near the living room windows to get the sea view. Sitting on the couch and looking out the sliding glass doors gave us a view of a wall 10ft away.
The hotel is located up a steep hill, far enough from restaurants and shopping that you need to take a taxi. Nothing is within walking distance unless you are willing to walk a mile or two.
The positives are that the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food in the hotel's restaurant (Lavrus) is excellent.
In summary, this was a good hotel but not great, and we did not feel it was good value.

This hotel was the perfect little get away. Our time was limited so unfortunately we did not get to the spa but were able to enjoy the other amenities. The hotel staff was extremely welcoming and personable. Went above and beyond to help with any questions you and gave us recommendations on places to visit and restaurants to check it when we decided not to dine at the onsite restaurant, which was phenomenal! We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel and were truly blown away. The wine recommendations at dinner paired perfectly with each of our options. Only regret is that we did not have more time at Hotel Villa Kapetanovic but there is always next time!

Beautiful Opatija
We made a booking for 2 rooms - for 2 adults and one child per room. Unfortunately, the hotel did not initially accommodate the children (a mistake on their part). However, the staff very kindly fixed the problem by offering a third room, a suite in fact. Further to this, we arrived to the hotel late, and they were able to fix us dinner with room service.
On the whole, this is a lovely hotel, and the staff are very helpful.

We booked an economy room and on arrival we were informed that we could not use the indoor parking facilities because they are kept for the higher paying patrons. We felt a bit snubbed. The staff were very nice aside from that encounter. The food was good. Complimentary breakfast was good. We stayed for dinner and had a very scenic view from the outdoor patio and thoroughly enjoyed the food.

Excellent hotel. Very clean and great food. The gentleman (I forget his name) who was the receptionist, bartender and waiter provided excellent service and was a wealth of knowledge about the area and his country. He was the only bartender in Croatia who knew how to make a martini (I tried many times). Great stay.

We liked this place, but it takes a little effort to find it with GPS. The GPS will direct you to a turn point on Nova Cesta. Look for the sign pointing up the steep hill and the hotel is right near the end of that.
Small, but adequate room that was comfortable and quiet. The restaurant was good and not too expensive. Breakfast was also well up to typical European standards. View from the outdoor restaurant deck was fabulous.

Older hotel overlooking the Sea.
This hotel sounded great on the reviews with clean rooms, good parking, comfortable bed and decent breakfast. It fulfilled expectations on two out of four. The parking was in front of the entry and the breakfast on the veranda overlooking the blue Adriatic was better than most. Even Siri had a difficult finding it though, took about 30 minutes. Just ok.

Apart from slight difficulty with our gps not being able to find the hotel, our whole experience was excellent. Friendly staff, high quality rooms, very good breakfast. Car parking was easy, adjacent to hotel. The swimming pool area was well maintained, although we did not have time or the weather to make use of it. Will definitely be back!

Stunning view from ordinary hotel
This hotel is probably as good as it gets in Opatija which is a pretty bay next door to industrial Rijecka. We stopped here as we wanted to be near the Trieste airport before we flew home from a lovely drive up the Dalmatian coast. The food is simply prepared although the menu has pretensions to grandeur, but the fish, vegetables and local cheese are all very fresh and very delicious. Our room was a bit dreary looking with dark furniture and mauve net curtains but it was clean and comfortable and spacious. The sea view balcony was on the side of the building so a bit disappointing, but the view from the dining terrace was outstanding.

On booking in we were upgraded to a room with sea views on the third floor. The view from the balcony was magnificent overlooking the adriatic. The room was large and comfortable with a very large modern bathroom. The breakfasts were made with local products served in the Laurus restaurant (which we had one of the degustation menus - and it was very good). Sitting on the patio or in the restaurant was such a relaxing feeling that it makes me want to return and spend more time just relaxing and taking in the beauty of the area.

Great Hotel, Great Food, Great View - Not Cheap
This is a wonderful new hotel that is linked to a deservedly popular fancy local restaurant. The suite was great, but the promised view was only two small windows in the living room area. Still it was upscale and the staff was warm and helpful. While we were on the top of the hill, there was easy access to the town down below, which provided a lovely walk through a town that was once the vacation spot for the Austria-Hungarian aristocracy. We didn't hang here long, but it looked like great swimming and boating.

Great hotel for the price. It is very clean and modern. The rooms were pretty simple, but about what I would expect for the price. Free parking onsite and wifi is a definite plus.

Wonderful Experience
This hotel and its restaurant were absolutely wonderful! The staff was extremely helpful and made us feel like we were part of their family. They offered shuttles that dropped us off and picked us up in Opatija as well as offered us plenty of options/ideas of things to do. We stayed in a room with a terrace and the view was breathtaking, waking up to a beautiful ocean every morning was great, and breing brought coffee in the morning by the staff made our mornings that much better. The restaurant was another great experience. The food was amazing and the wine was paired perfectly by our waiter. We never eat in hotel restaurants but we ended up eating lunch and dinner both nights here because we could not get enough of their food. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. We are already planning to go back in a couple of months.

This was a great hotel. It was our 7th hotel on this trip (Italy, Slovenia, Croatia), so I had a lot of comparisons. It deserves a higher rating than a 3 star. Great parking, modern style, great views from the hotel. The staff spoke English. The room was large sized with hardwood floors. It was a great value for the money. The restaurant on site also was very good with fabulous views of Opatija. I chose this hotel in Opatija over the alternatives in Rijeka that didn't look quite as nice. Although, I didn't get a chance to use it, they also had a nice pool area in the back of the hotel.
I am a bit concerned that I paid through Hotels.com and the hotel insisted that I pay them as well, saying Hotels.com is only a reservation. This hasn't been my experience with my other hotels.com reservations. I haven't seen my credit card statement yet, but I know Hotels.com has been good in the past in workig out issues like this. I liked the hotel so much I am willing to overlook this issue.
