We had a wonderful stay 2-night stay at the Shantaa during our recent trip to Koh Kood. We felt instantly relaxed upon arrival. The rooms were well spaced and very private feeling.
The food at the restaurant was nice and we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast experience.
The staff were amazing and we weree well looked after.

Great atmosphere. Relaxed and not crowded, making it perfect for a peaceful stay. The grounds are spacious with plenty of comfortable areas to sit and unwind, and there are activities to enjoy as well. The food is decent, and the staff provide excellent service. At night, the place is quiet and calm. There’s a private beach, and shops are within walking distance. Overall, I really loved it and would definitely come back again.

Shantaa Resort was very peaceful and serene. Bedrooms and bathrooms were great. Restaurant served amazing dinner and made to order breakfast buffets. Pool and beach were also great. Concierge was helpful and able to book us a driver for our 1 day island exploration. I would highly recommend Shantaa to anybody.

This property is a couples paradise if your looking for a quiet vacation. Staff is exceptional and every bungalow is positioned for privacy.

Great place for rest and relaxation and if you never want to leave the resort, you wont need to.

My girl friend and i rented a scooter(moped) from Shantaa and explored the whole island. We only used 1 tank of gas the entire time.

Everything about this resort was excellent. From the moment we arrived we were treated better than family. They saw to our every need. The room and view was fantastic. The restaurant was outstanding. The breakfast alone is worth going back for. It seems every member of the staff knew us and treated us with incredible kindness. We rented a scooter for 2 days and it was fairly priced and in excellent condition.

This was my second stay at this property. It is an amazing resort. I would definitely stay here again. I enjoyed everything about this resort. I love the food, scooter rentals, the pool, the grounds, the room, etc. The layout of the bathrooms in the rooms are amazing. They are outside, but partitioned off for privacy. I love exterior bathrooms in the tropics. I hope to visit this resort in the future. I have many good memories of this place.

We enjoyed our stay at Shantaa. What stood out was the expansive area with the villas strategically located for privacy, providing a sense of open space with beautiful views of the sea. Enjoyed the lap pool in the mornings. The restaurant sat atop a hill and during this season few people were there. Suggest staying with the Thai food options, as the Western food was limited and did not compare to the quality of the Thai food. Staff friendly and very accommodating. Adding a spa to the resort recommended.

We absolutely loved this resort. From the moment you arrive, you feel special. Our room was fantastic, especially the outside bathroom and the terrace. It is very spacious and so quiet!
The pool is beautiful and makes for the lack of beach in front of the resort. Although the beach is only about 5 mins walk, on the other side of the pier and it’s a beautiful one.
We loved the chilled café, reminded us of Ibiza vibes.
The restaurant was fantastic, highly recommended but beware, the portions are huge!
Certainly one of the best resort on the island!

This is the best place we've ever stayed. The location, relaxed atmosphere, incredible food and friendly staff make it a haven on a beautiful island. The villa rooms are beautifully simple and high end. There are so many spots to relax or spend hours in the sun in with two beaches to access. The standout is the food and drinks (cocktails in particular) on offer at Shantaa. We would come back and stay in a heartbeat.

The resort is beautiful, spacious, and surrounded by nature—a perfect place for a quiet stay with family and friends. The breakfast was excellent, and most of the staff were friendly and helpful.

However, I did experience discrimination during my stay. Although I am German, because I look like I am from the Indian subcontinent, I noticed that European-looking guests were treated more favorably. This was particularly noticeable with one staff member, who seemed to be the manager, which was disappointing since all guests pay the same.

Despite this, I enjoyed my time with my family and hope the resort works to ensure equal treatment for all guests in the future.

A beautiful little resort with impeccable service and great food. Our stay here was wonderful. The hotel's private beach is small and rocky but a few minutes walk from the hotel there is a nice long sandy public beach, so you have options. The dinner here was the best meal we had on the island for our entire trip on Koh Kood. Breakfast was also excellent. The bathroom is completely outdoor, but we didn't have any issues with bugs. The room was beautiful and the grounds of the resort are very well kept. Overall, we totally recommend Shantaa and would come back if we go to Koh Kood again.

The resort doesn’t have pool nor TV. Not much a beach neither. However, It’s quite and spacious. Perfect for couples who want to get away from everything else. There’s a spot where you can watch beautiful sunset. The staff is very friendly especially Khun Kai.

Best hotel I’ve stayed at

This hotel is honestly the best I’ve stayed at! The service, the rooms, the view and the food is amazing, It’s exactly like the pictures you see on the internet.

The rooms interior is very nice and the patios are great with the beanbag chairs and the view. And the outdoor bathroom is stunning, it’s like taking a shower in the jungle. Could be good to know though that the “smaller” rooms have two queen size beds, it can be pretty tight.

The staff is so polite and serviceminded and most speak English well. They keep track on what you order through out the days and you just sign the receipts and then pay at the end of your stay (wasn’t one error).

They have the best Thai food, best we had on the trip! And for breakfast you get a menu with several choices witch you can choose whatever and how much you want from and they make it fresh for you, even the coffee is good! They have free bottled water and you take as much as you need.

The prices are a bit higher then usual Thai prices but the quality and service make it well worth it! You can take a massage for 480 baht for an hour and you can rent a motorbike for 350 baht/day at the hotel to explore the island. But you also have walking distance to other resorts (although we never left Shantaa other then for exploring the waterfalls).
This is the best hotel if you and your partner are looking to relax and add a bit of luxury to your trip, I can really recommend!

Fantastic resort, clean, luxurious, very nice location, quiet, unspoiled island. Friendly and service oriented staff. Almost all are very friendly (Thai smile), some are anyhow polite. Good facilities, great view over the Gulf of Thailand, the local pier is somewhat of a spoiler, but not a terrible issue. In the past this pier was used for logistics purposes, but we have not seen any of this during our 10 day stay.

Shantaa is a Hindi word meaning tranquility. It lives up to its name in every sense of the word. Yes, there is a concrete pier by the beach. It doesn't matter. Shantaa's beach area is clean.They provide snorkelling gear and Kayaks for your use and a beach bar serving food and drinks. The provide beach towels too. The marine life around the sandy beach and rocks is interesting. On the other side of the pier is a long sandy beach you can also move onto if you want. I bet you don't. We had one of the Shantaa Sweets. With a beautiful garden and sea view from our bed and veranda, we hardly moved from there. The beach is less than a minute's walk so we trekked down to it evey now and again for a swim. Their restaurant is renowned on the island. We didn't eat anywhere else, not to say there aren't other good places to eat and visit.

Great place and mid priced for the island. It is a first class experience for the location and an amazing romantic away. There is good relaxing snorkeling on site. They go above and beyond with their service and attention to detail. It is beautiful, quiet, well maintained, clean to western standards, and frankly exceptional. The food and drinks are great, however language barriers can make ordering curious, but never a problem. With my Issan wife it was hard to get the food it spicey enough for us. The Thai dishes are great, fresh, and well presented.
The western food is good too, but like most places in Thailand, it's close to your expectations and if that's what you want you're in the wrong place. You can rent a scooter for 100 baht less down the road, but the convenience and safety of renting on site make it worth it. Loved it all!

Shantaa may not have a pool or televisions in their rooms but it is still a top notch resort. The grounds are well-kept and the snorkeling on the rocky side of the beach is excellent. The swimmming side past the pier has stunningly clear waters and when we were there in late May, the waters were calm. Food in the restaurant was deliciIous and reasonably priced. The view from our room was scenic and I could see the sea right from my bed. The staff were also attentive and friendly and we had an amazing stay there.

We had the most amazing time at Shantaa and it exceeded all our expectations. The room was comfortable, clean and had incredible views of the ocean and palm trees. The staff were wonderful and nothing was too much for them. The restaurant menu is fabulous and we had the best food we had on our whole trip to Thailand. The hotel’s private beaches are gorgeous and perfect for sunbathing/swimming and the main big beach is stunning and only a few steps away. There was a nice mix of couple and young families staying but the grounds are so large (and beautifully kept) that it never felt busy. A really special place on a beautiful island.

No Hotel beach to speak of

More of a retreat. No pool, no TV, no atmosphere anywhere. Not a bad hotel, just not for us. We like a bit more life. Needs a pool as the beaches connected to the hotel are very poor. If you get a scooter, beware of the 'road' into the hotel as it is very bumpy and if it has rained, don't do it....walk with scooter as you will come off.

The Shantaa resort has got everything just perfect! We went for 3 days as part of our honeymoon and the second we arrived we wished we had booked longer! The grounds are beautiful, the beach is idylic, the staff are wonderful, the food is the best Thai food we've both ever eaten! And it's all good value for money, you get free bottled water all day, the whole resort it's stylish yet homely and so clean! We loved it and thank everyone at shantaa for an un forgettable 3 days of paradise!

This is truly a special place. Initially booked for 2 nights and extended for a week. Lovely rooms with gorgeous bathrooms. Breautiful grounds. The decor is really deliberate and thoughtful. Staff is beyond excellent - so helpful, attentive and lovely. Food is fantastic. I could go on an on. Excellent place, especially for a couple or anyone seeking beauty, luxury and peace. I would honestly question the character of anyone who didn't fall in love with Shantaa. If you can afford it, stop looking and book now.

Shantaa Resort - Relaxing Island Getaway

Shantaa Resort on Koh Kood is a great place to go in Thailand where you can go for a quiet, relaxing island getaway. The room we stayed in was a free-standing hut that was clean and had AC and indoor/outdoor bathroom, which was really pleasant. We had a front balcony with lounge chairs where we could read and watch the sunset. Clean room with house cleaning every day and fresh towels always provided in the room and at the beach. No TV. Internet signal not always strong, but satisfactory for our needs. Restaurant served really good food. We explored other places to eat, which there are, but nothing exceeded the Shantaa restaurant.
The resort takes pride in the landscaping and they have full time gardeners always tending to the grounds. The staff was always willing to help and very friendly to all the guests – we particularly liked the staff. We surveyed some other resorts on the island and feel this is the best place for quiet, clean, relaxing time, with nice beach and good snorkeling right in front. Kayaks at the beach for exploring. Motor bikes for those wanting to explore the island. The ownership obviously makes an effort to keep the resort a quiet and a pleasing “island experience”. Not a party destination but do come if you want to relax, have a beer/lunch at the beach, and eat at a scenic restaurant with notable food. You could stay at the resort and never leave the grounds and have a great holiday. We chose Shantaa from the reviews and we agree - 5 stars!

Shantaa is the most peaceful place i have been in thailand - its very private and even when the resort is fully booked it seems like there is four of five times more space than required. This makes it very special and magical - the staff are excellent and the food is also great ! Beds are super comfortable and the servive is perfect . Shantaa is a perfect place for people who are looking to escape life and find true tranquility for a moment - be careful though you might never want to leave !!

Small beach resort in East Thailand

Shantaa is a small and remote resort in Koh Kood (Ko Kut) on the East side of Thailand (nearer to Cambodia), only accessible by speedboat and ferries. Koh Kood does not have large urban populations and its economy revolves around tourism and fishing. The island's amenities are simple (a few convenience stores, a hospital and a police station) but adequate and the resort benefits from good facilities, which enabled me to stay largely on site for a week with a couple of excursions.

There are two beaches and a restaurant on site, plus a café on each beach, plenty of sun loungers with sea views. The food was great, with plenty of choice, including Thai and some European dishes. Everything was cooked fresh, and they were very accommodating in terms of preferences and allergies.

The Shantaa Villa was full of character, with 2 queen size beds, a terrace with seaview and an indoors-outdoors bathroom - essentially a full bathroom opened to the outside with a small garden protected by high walls. The room did not have a TV, which was actually a blessing, allowing me to focus on the wonderful scenery and relaxing. I also hired a scooter at reception (400 baht per day, around £10/$12) to visit the local waterfalls, which are well worth seeing.

All together, a very pleasant stay and I would happily return.

This resort was beautiful and very relaxing. I was worried about eating all our meals here but the food was quite good and there was a great variety of choice. The two managers (owners?) were exceptional in helping us with all of our complicated travel and also helped me to get to the pharmacy for some ear drops. The dining room staff, while competent, were pretty quiet -- not sure if it was due to language barrier, but by far the least interactive staff of all my travels in southeast Asia. Very polite though.

While I cannot complain about a single thing at this resort, I do wish that we could have slept with our door/windows open, to hear the ocean outside. However there are no screens; instead, there is only mosquito netting for ,the bed which is hot and doesn't keep bugs from the rest of the room.

Another thing that future guests may want to know is that this resort requires some walking to get from one place to another, and is hilly in some areas -- if you have a walking handicap or hardship, you may find it hard to get around.

Last, just be aware that there is no pool. This was not an issue for us, as we love swimming in the beautiful, warm \"sea\". There is a public beach which is easily accessible next to the resort. The lounge chairs are comfortable and face the water in several parts of the resort, but no swimming in those areas due to rocks.

Shantaa was delightful. I would recommend it to my friends in a heartbeat.

Ein großer, weiter Sandstrand grenzt direkt ans Hotel. Das Resort ist großartig für alle, die sehr ruhige, entspannte Tage in einer idyllischen Natur verbringen möchten. Ein noch perfekteres Hotel ist kaum vorstellbar, deshalb sind die herausragenden Bewertungen absolut gerechtfertigt. Wer Party und Nachtleben will, für den sind Koh Kut und Shantaa aber nichts.

En väldigt välhållen och smakfullt designad resort där inget lämnats åt slumpen.
Hela området andas ro och omtanke om gästerna in i minsta detalj.
Personalen är väldigt uppmärksam och hjälpsam och ingenting saknas på området. Restaurangen har bra thaimat och frukosten är superb.

Paradise!

Oh Shantaa, my paradise! This is my new absolute favorite place in the world!
Shantaa resort doesn't care about star rating, but in my eyes they are far better than most 5star hotels/resort. First of all, the service is incredible, everyone working there will do all they can to make sure you are happy and taken care of in any way thinkable.The grounds are kept immaculate, and the layout of the resort is masterfully planned and buildt.. With about 25cabins, 2beaches, 1 swimming pool, 1 cafe, 1beach bar, 1 restaurant. 1 small snack shop and dozens of sunbeds and areas to hang out spread around the grounds. The cabins are beautiful and very cozy with a gorgeous view and a lovely balcony. The outdoor bathroom is amazing, having a shower while feeling you are in nature can't be beaten! The bed is very comfortable and the luxury bedsheets may be the most comfortable I have ever tried. Everything in the cabin (resort) screams luxury and comfort! In my eyes it's easy, if you don't absoloutly love Shantaa, you're most likely the problem😅

Frühstückskarte zum Wählen, statt Büffet, mit guter Auswahl und sehr guter Zubereitung.
Leider kein ansprechender Strand, aber sauberer Pool. Nachteil: extrem hoher Preis

WE enjoyed the quiet resort direct to the sea. Wonderful tropic garden. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful Open Air restaurant for all meals. No buffet thank you. The rooms were big and WE Loved the Open Air shower. WE will come back

Shantaa er en opplevelse!

Det er en grunn til at Shantaa er ranket som den beste resorten på Koh Kood! Helt fantastisk område, selv i regntiden! Vi storkoste oss med strand, basseng, omgivelser som får en til å bare stoppe opp og beundre.

Utvalget i restauranten var også stort og variert, og utrolig velsmakende! Eneste minuset var et svært begrenset frokostutvalg. Jeg er glad i egg, men det ble mye med egg 6 dager på rad... De hadde også et par supper, og sandwich/toast, men likevel er inntrykket av frokosten sånn så der... Men det de hadde var velsmakende! Husk å bestille frukt! Fersk utrolig velsmakende frukt!

Ellers var det et fantastisk opphold!

Le jardin, le petit déjeuner et la piscine sont super. La chambre est propre, le lit n’est pas pratique pour descendre. Le wc extérieur est moins bien pour la nuit, pas de television, pas de table. Ns avons passé 2 nuits avec la tempête et l’orage, l’eau est filtré ds la chambre

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour, tout est fait pour que nous nous y sentions bien. Le personnel est adorable, la structure vraiment très belle et bien entretenue, le restaurant est délicieux et raffiné. C’est un véritable havre de paix et de tranquillité. Il y a un « petit bout de plage » devant l’hôtel, mais d’autres plus vastes sont accessibles à pieds ou en scooter.

Boendet med sköna sängar, utomhusbadrum med egen trädgård, glest mellan bungalowerna och alla med utsikt mot havet.

Sköna sängar, kuddarna var för tjocka men övrigt perfekt. Frukost var superb, med allt man kan önska sig. Trevligt med café där man kunde äta lunch,mysig miljö.poolen var fin men placerad i ena kanten av anläggningen ej optimalt.
Sittkuddarna utanför rummet var hårda och svåra att använda.

One of the nicest hotels I’ve been in Thailand. The atmosphere is so nice and peaceful. The staff is very friendly and the location is really good. Rooms are clean and the outside bathroom is a nice touch. The only problem with the room is that there is no room for clothes and other stuff. We ended up using a chair for that.

We rented a scooter and drove around the island for a few days but you could easily just stay in Shantaa for the whole trip - they have everything you need.

Both of the restaurants are really good and they have plenty of options to choose from. Papaya salad is the best I’ve ever eaten and I could come back just for that.

Maybe one thing worth mentioning is that they don’t have a breakfast buffet. Instead of that you have a breakfast menu and you can order whatever you want from the list. For some people it might be a disappointment but I hate food waste so I prefer this option.

We will definitely come back!

Cet hotel est un modèle de professionnalisme. Tout est mis en oeuvre pour votre satisfaction. Les villas sont tres bien implantées en évitant la promiscuité et en privilegiant la vue vers la mer. Le restaurant est particulièrement raffiné avec une carte tres variée. Les petits déjeuners tres copieux offrent un large choix. Tout le personnel est serviable et prevenant. 船の出航時間に合わせて、レイトチェックアウトもホテル側から言ってきてくれてホスピタリティもとても良かった
朝食はビュッフェではないけれど、
