PRO1- Lady at front desk during check-in was amazing!

PRO2 - I called the day before arrival to make sure my request for conjoined rooms was accepted and it was!

CON1- During that same call I was told the pool and fitness center was closed for renovations until further notice. I would’ve preferred an email or call since I was traveling with kids and it was very inconvenient. Had I not called I would’ve never known until we got there and it was already too late to book at another hotel because prices were very expensive at that point.

CON2- 1 of my rooms had NO HEAT, long strands of hair in the shower and tissue in the toilet as if someone used it and never flushed.

CON3- My other room had NO HOT WATER, it was barely luke warm, long strands of hair on the toilet and in the shower.

This Hampton Inn was a disappointment! First, we were instructed to park at entrance 2 at the back. The parking lot was dimly lit. We unloaded our luggage and attempted to get in the back door, but our key card would not work. So, we drug our luggage to the side entrance and it was unlocked! So much for safety! Our room carpet was visibly stained. There were multiple spots on the walls that had been patched but not repainted. Breakfast was a disaster! There were plenty of tables available, but none of them were being cleaned. By 830am there were no scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, hard boiled eggs, muffins or coffee. There was nobody in sight restocking anything and the counters all needed cleaned. When I checked out there was nobody at the desk. I heard someone talking in a back office? but clearly their conversation was more important than checking out guests! Do yourself a favor and stay at the Comfort Inn around the corner!

The desk night clerk was very nice. However, he was smoking in the building. He came into the pool room with a lighted cigarette in his hand. The hallway from the lobby and the elevator smelled like smoke when we left the pool.
Our room was neat and clean. But the door into the room was very damaged. It did lock, or I would have asked for a new room. The bathroom door did not lock.
The breakfast was good. And there were plenty of choices of food.

Hotel was great. Clean, well maintained, super friendly staff. Breakfast was good. Pool was decent for the kids.

The only downfall is the fact they allow dogs, including Pit Bulls and Rottweiler’s. For that reason, I would never stay at another hotel that allows dogs. One of the Pit Bulls we saw at this hotel easily weighed 150lbs. No thanks.

So far everything is going great. Very friendly and knowledgeable check in clerk. My only negative experience is NOT with the hotel but rather Expedia. I booked my stay because it clearly stated that the room had a Jacuzzi tub. When I entered my room, there was not jacuzzi or even a jetted tub. I went to the reception desk and was told they DO NOT have ANY rooms with a jetted tub or Jacuzzi. The pictures online clearly aren't for this hotel or ANY hotel in this area. According to the desk clerk, there aren't any hotels nearby with jacuzzis. The picture also showed a hot tub in the pool area. There isn't one. I'm praying the breakfast buffet isn't a mirage today! This hotel is very clean and very clean smelling with a friendly staff. It's NOT their fault I was mislead by Expedia.

The toilet in our room was not working. When I called the front desk they said maintenance had left for the night and they'd notify them in the morning. I asked what we were to do for the night, they said they would come take a look, but there's also a bathroom on the first floor we could use. They came and tried to fix it, but couldn't. They said they were going to try and get ahold of maintenance but couldn't guarantee they'd be able to get someone in to fix the toilet before the morning. They also said they didn't have any more rooms to move us to as they were sold out. We gave them time to try and get maintenance in, but when I called the front desk for an update they said they hadn't heard back. I asked again for a new room and was told they didn't have any more.
At that point we decided to not stay the night. When I went to tell the front desk we were leaving and request a refund they were in the middle of moving another guest to a different room due to toilet issues. I gave them another chance to move us to a new room and they stuck to their story that they were sold out. However, on their website they clearly had open rooms, indicating they were not sold out.
The only reason they are getting one star is because Aaron at the front desk was very kind. It was very clear that they didn't have any control over whether maintainence came in or not, or whether they could make the decision to offer us a new room.

No hot water - told by desk clerk that the hotel was full and “it is what it is”. When I said that when one books a hotel room that a shower is expected. Her reply was “would you like me to check you out” as we were booked for a 2nd night and had 3 rooms. She never once apologized for the hotel’s lack of hot water or for her rudeness. Breakfast was repeatedly empty, even running out of plates (they sent staff to Meijer) at 9 am on a Sunday when breakfast was very busy. Found stink bug on my bed. Messed up our credit card split payment. A positive was 2 very pleasant staff working Sunday morning that were helpful!

In all fairness there is a sign saying that the hotel is under construction (we didn’t see any construction). This hotel was also short staffed so it did have an effect (more so at breakfast). The rooms themselves were decent though there were stains on the carpet in our room. There was a tv and a small fridge, but no microwave. The beds were firm and the pillows were soft. With that said, while I did manage a little bit of sleep each night, I woke up in pain every morning. The shower offers plenty of height however, the water pressure is severely lacking. The bathroom was large and it looks to have been redone at some point, but the toilet seems to be lower than normal. We did like that the room was spacious and had a desk and a table for counter space. The indoor pool had a pleasant temperature but there was a lot of chlorine so the outside doors were kept open thereby letting bugs inside and into the pool. Also, the pool is showing some serious wear with chips in many spots. The breakfast in the morning was lacking and the sausage tasted off. There was constantly a line for the waffle maker so unless you wanted to wait, there weren’t many options. I would say it was typical hotel food but that would be too generous of a comment.
My family did stay at this same hotel a few years ago (gave it 4 stars back then) and we can see how it has unfortunately gone downhill. Though the customer service was good, I can no longer recommend this location.

All in all we had a good experience. The room was comfortable and the beds were pretty good. The property as a whole seems to have some age to it. Some touch up painting needs to be done, and the carpet in the room was worn a bit. The free breakfast was bad on Sunday morning. The eggs were not good at all. Went with the waffles and fruit. Staff was friendly and helpful. No foul there. The pool was clean and inviting after a long day in town shopping and sight seeing. Good job Hampton!

A LOT of renovations. Our bathroom faucet was not working properly and kept falling off!!!! The door would not close all of the way unless you slammed it shut, since the wood was chipped away. I have stayed here multiple times in the past and it was great. I was pretty disappointed this time.

The carpet was dirty, and stained. The pool room was 120 degrees. The toilet was 16 inches off the ground as if it was made for a child. There was so much dust in the room making it hard to breath or sleep. This is why we choose to leave a day early. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast was good. Would we go back there? No way!

When booking the hotel was advertised as having a hot tub, the hot tub was permanently closed and the pool was ice cold, we booked this hotel for roughly 40 dollars more per night because of the hot tub, we were extremely upset and very disappointed that we were lied to by the hotel and the booking service about the amenities of this hotel

We ended up not staying since we chose this hotel for the pool and hot tub and they were both closed and the hot tub was being filled in and were not notified until we arrived.

The desk manager notified us that they would give us a refund due to not having the pool and hot tub and we are waiting for that from Orbitz. Otherwise the hotel did look clean.
