Large, high ceilinged room, excellent beds, good bathroom facilities. The location is ideal for me - near the train, tram and bus stations (so it's easy to find after a long journey there), 10 minutes' walk to the centre of Padua. The area surrounding the hotel is not the nicest, but getting away from there is really easy. Super helpful staff. Huge numbers of really good towels fresh every day.

Only a couple of issues. Firstly the room is very dark; this is a design decision, but there wasn't enough light to read by without going to bed. Secondly, the bathroom had some mould around the bath, and a very mouldy shower curtain. That all being said, I'd recommend it to anyone, and would willingly stay there again.

The hotel staff were gracious and very helpful with directions for transportation and storing our bags on check out day so we could sight see in the morning. Breakfast had many many options and was wonderful. The room was very clean.

The suite was very spacious and entire family could easily be there. I love that the master bedroom was separate from the other bedroom. And also there were two separate bathrooms, although there’s only one. The 24 hour reception was staff friendly, especially Michael, and they answered all questions and attended to our needs. The only problem that we have was with the Wi-Fi in the room was very bad, we hardly could stay connected. Also, the electrical system either we didn’t know how to use it right or there were some issues with lights. Other than that, we had a great day and the city is lovely to visit and a good Bass to visit Venice. It is close to the train station. All you have to do is cross the street and you’re there.

The hotel was ok apart form the air conditioning didn’t work as we had a faulty window sensor. However it was fixed after a while. The area around the hotel felt unsafe to walk around in. However it is an excellent location for grabbing the train into Venice!

Room was spacious and well set up, bathroom was clean and big. Lots of food choices including italian, kebabs, KFC, McDs and more, if you need a quick bite without venturing into town. Hotel’s breakfast was a decent array of choices from cold to hot menu items. The train station is a one minute walk from hotel, yet the rooms are quiet, you don’t hear the trains at all. Too many youth and few unsavory characters of various persuasions seem to loiter around Padova and Italy in general, but they don’t panhandle or bother you, so it was fine. I would highly recommend this hotel, we stayed 2 nights and loved it.

Excellent 2 day stay, very close to the train station, although no restaurant there are plenty within easy walking distance. Walked for miles around the town and always felt safe. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable.

Chosen as an economical night near the train station. However, the area is not great. Luckily, there is a tram to the center and basilica of St Anthony. The hotel is clean, but not as “grand” as it might have been decades ago when it got 4stars.

Very convenient and nice!

The location is very convenient to go anywhere using trains and buses as well as restaurants and markets. It takes only about 20 min to Venezia. The room was clean, spacious, and very quiet. The hotel receptions and all stuffs are very friendly and helpful as well. We’re very happy with the service and quality.

Awful experience in our second stay here in 5 years. Would not recommend and will not return. Only good thing was the proximity to the train station, but next time I'll take a taxi and stay elsewhere.

Upon check in, they told us they'd had AC all summer but recently turned it off, not expecting the heat in October. Now the AC was broken. They would not supply portable fans. They had no sympathy. The room was stifling hot. Opening the windows only let in the street noise and mosquitos. We couldn't sleep.

This ruined our stay in Padova and we cancelled the rest of our visit there and left as soon as we could on the next day's train.

All the other hotels in Italy that we stayed in this month were able to offer AC or fans. The heat was known and they offered reasonable responses out of concern for their guests. But not the Hotel Grand'Italia.

Padova itself is well worth a visit; many beautiful and interesting artworks and architecture.

Fabulous location of you want transportation hub. Easy to grab tram to old town---a but long, but not too bad to walk. Despite being right across from train station, not much noise
Hotel clean, friendly helpful staff. Building is kinda old, my room small (and inexpensive!), elevator slow, but they do well with what they have. Clean and well maintained. Would stay here again.

The staff are to be commended - they are friendly and efficient and easily handled my change from a room with a friend to my own room after they left - storing my luggage and having it placed in my room when I returned from a day trip to Ravenna.

They also happily provided room service of an incredible tomato and mozzerella salad with olives and very fresh greens and fresh rolls - all for an extremely reasonable price - such a nice treat after a long day of sightseeing.

The hotel is in front of the train station, so no taxi expenses is needed to go to the hotel. Checkin was ok. No tea and coffee in the room. Charged 8 euro for this. Not glad about this. The bathroom is horrible. Dirty shower curtain and dirty wall in the bath.

We feared that the proximity to the trainstation will be a flaw, but it clearly proved to be convenient, in proximity to major attractions such as the Capella Scrovegni, Piazza delle erbe , duomo, battistery. The hotel had a
very friendly staff, ready to assist. The
breakfest was fresh and tasty. There is
daily room arrangement. We stayed in a quiet backroom. Tha many foreigners in the aerea were not a problem

Great choice, very convenient to transportation

Hotel is literally right across the street from the main train station in Padua. We used it as a hub for travel to Venice and Verona, which ended up working out well. The breakfast buffet is excellent for the cost and I would recommend that as a point of convenience if you have a busy schedule planned

The hotel was located across the street from the train station which was extremely convenient. The hotel staff were helpful and courteous. They had wonderful huge breakfast assortment which was included in our reservation. The only draw back was people congregated around outside of hotel and were talking and playing music loudly until late at night. They had stopped by the time we went to sleep. Other than that we enjoyed the hotel.

Not a 4-star hotel. The room does not look like it has been updated in 20+ years—definitely not like the photo. No irons on property. Blood stain on the towel. Old, worn, stained shower. No air conditioning at this time of year. No iron at any time of year, so it’s not a business hotel. They refunded our money because it was too hot to stay here.

Perfect hotel to visit Padua because it is directly across the street from the train station, so you drop your luggage right away. Few minutes walk to Scrovegni Chapel and a pleasant walk to the city historical centre. Our room was very comfortable and clean. It was quiet. It is an old building with 3 ft thick outer walls. Nice big bathtub was appreciated.

The staff was great with letting us check in early. They took care of our luggage and got it up to our room. The room was spacious with a large bathroom. The only drawback was that the room was unbearably hot. Nothing could be done with it because of the laws in Italy regarding when to turn off the heat. The hotel is across from the train station and about a 10-15 minute walk to the Screvegni Chapel. Lots of fabulous food too.

Great for Venezia, Padova, Vicenza Sightseeing

I stayed here during my sightseeing trip of Venezia, Vicenza and Padova. This station is located right in front of station so it is so convenient if you taking train. Around station is not commercial district so it is fairly quiet. The center of town is about 20 minutes walk away. If you are going to Venezia, I strongly recommend staying in Padova and take 30 minutes train ride to Venezia because Venezia is very expensive and it is hard to navigate the city with your luggage(most of bridges you have to go through in Venezia has stairs). Hotel d’Italia is convenient and room was very clean and spacious enough. Bath tub was great after full day of walking around. Stuff is nice and helpful.

The hotel has older equipment and does not seem to fit the price category. I was requesting quite room and got room next to reception and heard every call of the receptionists. The eggs and pancakes were served cold during breakfast and bathroom was not clean.

Hotel strategically located right across the street from Padova Centrale, where you could catch a 20 minute ride to Venice. Hotel has character, the rooms are spacious, the wifi is fast, great breakfast, good service. Close to all major touristic sights, especially the beautiful frescoes of Giotto at the Scrovegni Chapel. Overall perfect place to stay while in Padova.

Location was a plus (so near the station) and a minus (close to a Macdonalds that was a local hangout). Some facilities,, though minor, weren't what you'd expect - a bed that kept sliding away if you wanted to read propped against the bedhead, and a modern bathroom with a design that meant your bathmat was drenched when you stopped your shower. Perfectly adequate, though not what I'd call 4 starts.

Every time I stay in Padua I stay at the grand Italia this four-star hotel is directly across the plaza fronting the train station and a short walk down to Scrovegni Chapel and other Piazzas. The rooms are spacious and laid out so that the bed is farther away from the door so you have very little hall noise and get a good nights sleep. The breakfast is typical Italian breakfast with Meat eggs, cheeses and other selections but adds a juicer and several healthy options not seen at other hotels. The satellite TV and Internet worked however I wasn’t able to view BBC or CNN as listed. The only change I would request would be to have safety decals or a tub liner and a safety bar with the deep Roman bathtub.

Hotel is convenient for Train & Bus station, providing easy transport to Venice and airport. Not in an attractive part of town, but felt safe. All staff we met were very helpful. Definitely not a 4 star hotel (would suggest 3 star), no restaurant, one slow lift, limited bar facility and ok breakfast but not the best.

Great location If you are arriving via the train station and want to hop on train to & from Venice. This is an easy short walk to the hotel. Take the Blue Line Tram to the wonderful center of Padua. The only downside to this hotel is the lack of nearby restaurants & the outside loitering of scary people. We did feel safe inside of the hotel! GREAT helpful staff.

Hotel is near town but close to the bus and train station where there are a few shops/supermarket which is very handy. Bus/tram fares are cheap to purchase and the trip to Venice was good.

I like the hotel except for the vagrants that stand outside the door to the hotel. For a woman on her own it is quite scary, especially when dark. Breakfast is particularly good.

Lovely big room and bathroom on the 4th floor ensured a happy stay for us.
The heat in the lobby was extreme! Far too hot!
Not many restaurants nearby so we always had to walk into town to eat at night. The friendly reception staff recommended a good restaurant for us to go to.
The hotel bar is a bit of a waste of space - not the most inviting/atmospheric spot, but the lobby is nice
Breakfast was pretty basic and the staff never replenished the plates fast enough. Very disappointing!
The dining area is shabby and in need of some painting work.
Our room was very comfortable and that is the most important thing for me.
Padova is a wonderful place to visit as there is so much to see
The train station just across the road made our day trip to Vicenza very easy

If traveling by train this is a very convenient hotel with it being directly across the street from the train station. If on vacation, and if you are going to venture out to see the sites, the tram stop is within a very short distance from the hotel and this will get you into the areas where most of the sites are located. I'd like to also add the hotel was very nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Wasn't sure of where to stay but this hotel is located right near the train station making for an easy transfer. Shops in the train station were nice too. You'll have to walk to downtown but it's quite easy. The hotel room was spacious and clean. The breakfast spread was the highlight!

The staff during breakfast, which was great, were also efficuent and friendly.
The location of the hotel is very convenient for those travelling by train.
The bed size(dbl), which they joined together turned out to be bigger than a King size! That was great!

It was valuable to have the staff recommend nearby restaurants (which were excellent) and inexpensive public transportation to the Marco Polo airport in Venice. Although this was the final stop of our 4-city Italian visit, this walk-around city was much appreciated AND this hotel choice was important.

The really nice part of town for shopping ect. is up the street. At night time some pretty seedy characters are in the neighbourhood. They didn't bother us, but as we were 2 women, we were nervous.

Although strategically located next to the train station and situated on a main street leading to the city center, the hotel remains relatively quiet and provides a clean, well lit place to stay, staffed by professional hôteliers. The breakfast is ample, and the coffee is above average.

Good choice!

Everything was great with our room. Very clean and comfortable. Padova sights are an easy 10 minute walk from the hotel. The best part is the convenience to the train and bus stations.

Only OK

It is a bit dated and the photos make it look a look better. However, is was comfortable and well priced. But, don’t believe their website about parking! I had to pay for parking elsewhere- disappointing as that was a major reason for me booking here.

Very convenient

I could walk everywhere I wanted to go in Padua and it’s less than 5 minutes to the boarding platform at the train station, making this a lower cost/high value alternative to staying in Venice (and you don’t have to lug your suitcase up and down all those bridges).

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights.
the beginning was very unpleasant.
our air conditioner doesn't work during 3 nights.
we asked the staff to so something but........
our room was on a sunset side and day temperature in Padoova on these days was above 30 ºC ( NOT SO PLEASENT)
but in general.the hotel is OK
