This is a nice place close to Monteverde. We stayed one night before our hike in the cloud forest. Love the location, the service, and the cleanest of the hotel.

The staff were very helpful, and the room was quiet despite being on the ground floor and near a common area. We would stay here again if we go back to Monteverde. (Wife and son are already asking when we can go back to Costa Rica!)

The bed was super comfy and the AC worked well. We had a large room with a shared balcony. The location is close to town with shops and restaurants, but it’s uphill from town, so the return walk got old pretty quickly.

Price was good and breakfast was great. Nice view from the second-floor room. Had to keep windows open to cool the room and that brought bugs in at night. Also meant that you could hear people in nearby rooms. Wifi signal was too weak to reach our room.

We enjoyed staying at the Mar Inn. Christine at the front desk showed us the map of the city and guided us to a couple of very good restaurants. Breakfast was very good as well. Close to the cloud forest and a Sloth sanctuary. Tip, park at the parking lot that says Offical Parking & take the shuttle, there is really no parking at the park entrance.

Very nice, cute simple accommodation! Little older but thw location is great, not in the heart of Santa Elena but a walking distant away from the crowded area. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. They have an organized schedule to all the acitvities around and multiple times for shuttles to different activities.

This was my second stay in Santa Elena. I chose this hotel due to its location (off the main street), and I was pleasantly surprised. I was looking for quiet, and Mar Inn allowed me to rest after hiking in the jungle.
The included breakfast was substantial, and the service excellent. There is a coffee and spirits bar on-site.
The host was very helpful, and one minor issue with our refrigerator was promptly remedied.

During my recent trip to Monteverde, I had the pleasure of staying at a charming hotel that truly exceeded my expectations. Offering excellent value for the price, this hotel provided all the comforts and conveniences one could ask for. Its central location made it easy to explore the wonders of Monteverde, while the reliable air conditioning ensured a comfortable stay, especially after a day of hiking or exploring the cloud forest. The beds are very cozy and comfortable with nice blankets. The shower is a nice rainfall shower with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. But, the water was not very hot. It is located in a great area 5 minutes walk from downtown. The parking lot is pretty small. Breakfast is 6:30-8:30am made to order. The pancakes are fluffy and they have tea/milk/coffee.

The best thing about this property for us was the 2 guys that ran the reception. They helped us find the best restaurants, activities and even the best local places for sunset. Mar Inn is a good clean place to stay in Monte Verde. Room was spacious and clean and staff was friendly. It is conveniently located close and very walkable to the shops and restaurants of Monte Verde town. This place is a great option for budget minded tourists.

Our three night stay was generally good. It’s within walking distance to the town center, but remains mostly quiet. Staff was nice enough and provided assistance when asked. Breakfast was adequate but nothing memorable. The room was clean but definitely kind of dated and lacked amenities like a refrigerator or microwave. I can’t complain much although, like most things in Santa Elena, I think it’s overpriced for what you get.

The place was cute and the rooms were a good size. The area is hilly, and the hotel was very multi level, lots of stairs and inclines, with different buildings to go between. The included breakfast was ok, 4 options of eggs or pancakes or some combination. Areas of improvement: parking spots were few and they only provided a couple towels.

The property was nice and the two young guys running it were great. We had great difficulty checking out as the cc machines were not working. Took us a long time to set up PayPal accounts etc. Not to take away from anything. The rooms were very noisy not only hearing your neighbor but also out side noise. Showers were borderline cold. Just used hot water and still cool.

Made a reservation to stay at the Mar Inn but were given rooms in the Don Taco Inn upon check in. The rooms were clean, but the beds and pillows were not comfortable. The walls are so thin we heard the people in the next room using the bathroom. These same guests were very loud and disturbed our sleep by partying outside our room until the early morning hours but since there is no phone in the room and no one at the front desk after 10, there was not a lot that could be done.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Just a few minute walk to downtown. Good breakfast. good value. The roads to Santa Elaina are very rough so dirt bikes are a common form of transportation. They are very loud and can be heard all night regardless of where you stay in Santa Elaina, so you may want to bring ear plugs.

The location was right oustside the town which made it convenient to buy supplies. There was a well appointed kitchen we could use which was a pleasant surprise. Comfy beds and bedding. Beautiful trees all around. Thin walls so outside noise was a problem, but we had the little house so at least we disn’t Hear any neighbors.

First of all staff is absolutely incredible -super helpful, excellent English and very kind. The place feels like an upscaled inn and we were surprised by the relatively low price for what you get. Our rooms did have ants problem so we couldn't leave any food item or washed dish just like that, and the faucet was quite loud but other than that our experience was terrific.

We stayed a couple of nights at Mar Inn and could not sleep for the two nights. They gave us room #11 which faces the street. The location of the hotel is close to everything but on a uphill street. The motorcycles and trunks going up just make it extremely noise. The room itself as clean, the staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good. Maybe if we had a room more towards the back of the hotel our experience would have been completely different. If choosing this hotel and you want to sleep, be aware of this and stay away from room #11.
