This is a cozy establishment with a lot of characters. My room is very clean and roomy. A beautiful and quiet flowered ground right at my doorstep provides relaxation (with a glass of wine) at the end of busy days. A very cute residential baby goat kept me company sometimes. The manager Miguel was so helpful. Thank you! Yes I recommend it.

Our apartment on the second floor was beautiful, spacious, peaceful and clean. We really appreciated the daily housekeeping and that coffee was provided. We loved the incredible view and enjoyed several amazing sunsets from the balcony. The garden is well kept and gorgeous, and having access to free laundry was fantastic, especially when our clothes got wet and muddy from hiking. This location is conveniently located to many attractions, especially if you have a car. We loved everything about this place!

The view from our room was stunning. We saw the most amazing sunsets from our balcony, the room was spacious and comfortable with a full kitchen. Cleaning was always very timely when we left the cleaning sign. You do have to pick up the key from the danish immersion school nearby. You can leave your key in the room at checkout or drop it off at the school. Also, a mini supermarket is close by and several outstanding restaurants are within a 20 minute walk. Make sure to see monteverde waterfall and the ficus bridge. We had a very memorable time.

This property has amazing Sunset view just outside the property. The property felt like staying in Italian villa in Tuscany. Nico and Joel are fantastic hosts and I highly recommend this property.

Need to remember the check in and check out are at the immersion Spanish school. The place was fabulous. Superb view, very cosy apartment, nice bedding, had all the amenities we needed. Certainly recommend the place and we will come again. We checked in late and staff was very generous to be there late.

Wow what a great place to stay for a night or a month or longer. The place has all you will need to have a fantastic stay. Small kitchen to prepare your own meals if you so choose, dining table to have coffee at and eat. Comfy bed. Was all we needed and more than we expected for the price we paid. Realy enjoyed being able to spread all our stuff out and have a base for a few days. Casas del Toro is a large place with beautiful views over MonteVerde. A nice bonus is the laundry room with washer and dryer. Close proximity to town. I saw some monkeys walking to town. Only draw back is the wifi was slow, not the best for video calls. Also, getting in and out of the shower/tub was tough as the tub is high. A stool might help. Otherwise, great stay, with nice parking spot. I would return.

Located on the campus of CIS, this spacious home has plenty of room to spread out. Layout is strange, lots of uneven stairs not so great for anyone with mobility issues. Stunning, peaceful grounds. Good location. Great value.

We enjoyed staying at this property. The only drawback was the inconsistency of hot water in the shower. We had two rooms and on both the first and second floors, we experienced hot water shower issues. The water would get hot and then after a minute it would turn completely cold. If we let it run for several minutes more, the hot water would return, only to turn cold again after a minute.

The villa we stayed at was amazing and had everything! We were able to cook, do laundry and it was a short walk to restaurants & the downtown area. It was also close to Monteverde Cloud Forest and easy to get there with a transfer. Right outside our villa was also the perfect place to watch the sunset. Communication was easy and the place was easy to find! We definitely recommend people visiting the area to stay here!

Loved that there qas a washer and drier to use. Too bad they were out of laundry soap. They siad they would get some there right away. That ended yo the next afternoon. We were there three nights and the drier really helped, no no real worry.

Casas del Toro Monteverde has beautiful little apartments in a beautiful building with beautiful grounds. Laundry is included which is a big help. It is within walking distance to many attractions, and if you have a car, parking is no problem. I found the staff at CPI school which owns the accomodation to be very helpful. The person, Christian who took me to my space, arranged a night hike for me that very day. He was very gracious, and professional. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

The grounds of the property are beautiful. The sunsets across the gulf and mountains were spectacular. A grocery store is less than a ten minute walk. There are restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops ten minutes in either direction with sidewalks. The weather was great. The scenery is spectacular.

Amazing Stay
Casas del Toro Monteverde was an amazing reprieve and respite during my journey around Costa Rica. Traveling solo, the communication on where to go and how to get the keys, as well as showing around the property upon arrival and security of parking were immense pleasures. The place itself is gorgeous and has amazing views, along with amenities needed during a short or long stay. The bed was also amazingly comfortable. Would highly recommend.

What a spacious house. Four bedrooms with five bathrooms. The house was perfect for our family of five. The house is located on the premises of the Spanish Immersion Institute, which is clean and gated. The staff was friendly and helpful. The house is close to the Monteverde Cloud Forest and other area attractions. You can walk to town if you desire. The house was the perfect setting for our family to spend time together under one roof instead of multiple rooms. If you are in Monteverde and you have a large family/group, I highly recommend you stay here. You won’t be disappointed.

Lovely grounds and apartment, fantastic location, friendly and efficient check-in. Overall great experience; however, a few bumps. Very noisy at night during high winds (some sort of metal banging sound on the roof) and lots of barking dogs and a rooster crowing nonstop starting around 5 am each day. Totally not the fault of the property owners, but a bit annoying. There were also quite a few ants and one cockroach in the bathroom, and the shower just sort of dribbled on you, no real pressure. The beds were comfortable, although my daughter found a used Band-aid stuck to one of the extra blanket in the closet. Yuck. That said, the apartment was freshened up each day, and it was great to have a kitchen for when we didn't want to go out to eat.

The property is beautiful and has a wonderful garden and outdoor area. Our room had great view of the ocean, forests, and garden and was a big space that didn't feel cramped at all. It's easy to walk to many restaurants and stores and it is a great juming off point for seeing Monteverde or Santa Elena. Our only problem was that we didn't know that check-in was at the CPI Spanish school down the road (I don't think this was mentioned on the listing, or we missed it) so when we arrived, there was no reception and we were a bit confused, but it was sorted out without too much delay. Staff is friendly and nice.

The property was a great price for having a full kitchen and the view was gorgeous, but the walls are thin so a lot is heard in neighboring rooms. It was also extremely difficult to find, especially in the dark, so make sure you have very clear understanding of location and also important to have a 4x4 to get to the property.

I had read the reviews before booking and had a high expectation. Casas Del Toro met my expectation and happy that I booked a villa in Casas Del Toro. It was clean and very spacious. Nicely maintained garden in front of the room/villa. I will write about a small difficulty I had while checking-in. I am writing this to make others aware of it and not to discourage others. I was aware of the process of check-in and went to CPI School. I reached around 7PM it was dark the gate was closed and didn't know what next to do, then realized that there is a intercom near the big gate. Somebody responded and remotely opened the gate, went inside then I was not sure whether to go straight or go to right, actually the office was straight ahead. Heard some voices from right and went through another gate to right then realized that I came to a wrong place and when I tried to go back found the gate closed. Then I knocked a door may be he was a guest and he opened the gate for me and that time I saw the receptionist/guard came looking for me.

Beautiful location, plenty of space, private home-y feel. An important tip though, you need to check in at CPI, the immersion school nearby before going to the casa. That was unclear on booking and felt confusing, if not wrong, when we drove in, but staff was super friendly and made sure we knew where to go from there.

We super-liked Casa del Toro; located about a $3 taxi ride from Santa Elena and a $10 taxi ride from Monteverde. I think the basic area of the casa is called Cerro Plano - just past the CPI Spanish Immersion school. First of all it was clean, quiet, spacious, with good wifi and comfortable. Abigail, the young housekeeper was really helpful and welcoming. We had an apartment on the second floor and the view was amazing; you could see all the way down to the Gulf of Nicoya and watch lovely sunsets. The bedroom had a tiny balcony and all the rooms had huge windows - even the bathroom. We really appreciated the attention to detail in the design: every room had crown moldings and a tray ceiling, clean tiled floors and the bathroom walls were tiled to the ceiling. There was a bath-tub/shower which was nice with a sturdy grab bar to help you get in. The casa also has a lovely garden in front with a tiny stream and bubbling fountain. A supply of salt, pepper, oil, sugar, coffee and tea was left for us. It was about a 10 minute walk to the nearest corner store, restaurants and bakery. St. Elena was about a 25 minute fairly steep, downhill walk for bigger grocery stores. There was also a free washer and dryer in the laundry room. The only drawback for Casa del Toro was not walking anywhere at night because of the steep streets and sometimes sketchy sidewalks. You are supposed to check-in first at the CPI Spanish Immersion school which is about a 5 min. walk.
