Got there no staff we could talk to just an envelope at the desk with our name. Did a walk through the room and say that it was well below our standards. Tried to cancel immediately but nobody at Expedia would help I phoned Expedia followed the phone instructions and got hung up on several times I tried with the same disappointing results. Since there was no staff on site at the hotel all we could do is leave and pay for a service we didn’t want and couldn’t cancel. I will never book with Expedia again

Our family stayed this past weekend at the Western Lodge. I have to say, we do not normally stay in Motels but I have to commend Donna and the team at Western Lodge. They have do a lot to make an older building more modern. The decor when you arrive is lovely. The breakfast room is large and spacious, linens and towels are new and fresh. The beds were firm but soft and we didn't have those giants pillows that make it so hard to sleep at night. Donna was the real star of the lodge. She will go out of her way to make you feel at home. How many places have you stayed where you actually know the name of your receptionist. She is kind hearted, tended to my quereies and gave us the best possible service. Thank you, Donna!

For the price though, I don’t feel I got what I paid for.

Plus, very cold room : and I’m a very warm person.

That said the room had everything needed and was clean.

I was the only guest so not really a fair review. Got ripped off by Expedia and will never book with them again. They charged me more than the hotel rate and wouldn’t reimburse me the difference between their rate and actual hotel rate. Expedia actually stole $70 from me
Because there were very few guests the front desk wasn’t occupied enough

It was such a beautiful and welcoming place. The lady at the front desk set the mood right from the moment we met. It was like being welcomed home! You can see great love is put into the upkeep of the property. It may not be the Ritz but it is where I would prefer to stay any day. Loved it & thank you for the memories.

Donna was the only staff we met and she was a darling. Very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast served the following morning was a very nice variety and Donna was on site - pleasant and welcoming.

The room was small, not the cleanest carpet and certainly the bathroom needed renovations. However, both queen beds were very comfortable.

Overall, we would definitely return.
Note - next booking will be directly with Western Lodge. This booking was thru Expedia and I was overcharged $50 - which I've every intention to receive a credit for.

Breakfast sausages were boiled and grey. No bacon. Scrambled eggs were ok...potatoes needed a bit more par boil before frying. Choice of brown or white bread only. No fresh fruit or baked goods. Service person couldnt answer questions and responded with \"I just work here\" multiple times. No autonomy to change policy to keep customer happy. Mattresses were old and had stains. After house cleaning went through room, dirty coffee mugs were left. Bad training of staff...bad cooking all comes down to poor management. Booked for 2 nights left after one.

Arriving in the lobby to a floor fan circulating hot air and a lazy attendant coming from a back room to check us in. The elevator is at the opposite end of the building with no parking so accessability is non accessible. Opening the room door to be hit with a strong mould smell was not good. The air conditioner did not work and the window screen was on the roof outside so window could not be opened. Roku tv only so no actual tv. No phone in room. Told we had to go downstairs to restaurant to get ice and was made to feel like I was an inconvenience asking for it at the restaurant. When I got it she handed me a bag with no tie and said oh well no tie be careful. Saying that the ice went all over the floor. Shower curtain 12” too long so scuzzy and dirty with mould at bottom. Mattress lumpy and hard.
Stay away and continue driving. Don’t stay here.

The staff were very friendly. The room overall was ok but the bed was uncomfortable. It was disappointing that we were not able to dine at the restaurant as it was closed the day we were there. Overall though it was a nice place to stay. I do have to say I was disappointed in the info centre who told us the locals have mixed reviews on the restaurant and wouldnt cross the line to even have a drink there. It is not good for business when the place tourists go for suggestions tell you to stay away from the place you booked.

It was very hot 33 no air conditioner In main areas. Air conditioner in room didn’t work at all. Left it on and fan running went out to dinner came back 2 hours later still not working. Room refunded and cut our vacation short. Drove home 4 hour drive. Wouldn’t recommend staying here until Reno’s are done to the hotel.

I didn’t like that there was almost never anyone available at the counter. I didn’t like calling for a room spruce up on two consecutive days and the room was never freshened up once. I didn’t like running out of toilet paper and an extra roll was not provided. I did like the Breakfast, those two ladies do a five star job of that.

The people were wonderful! Treated me extremely well. The room was large, clean and well maintained, BUT lacked functionality. Not enough electrical outlets in appropriate places. The tv only had access to those who with Netflix/Prime accounts. There is no wi fi service available. The rooms are all on the 2nd floor with only stair access so not disabled friendly. The hotel has potential but those issues need addressing.

Great Place for a Ski Getaway

Stayed here for a Family Day long weekend ski trip. First time. Enjoyed our stay! Breakfast was delicious and big! Building is older but renovated so has a rustic charm, some minor wear and tear. Room was clean and warm. Bed was firm and comfy. Bathroom had some wear and tear but spacious and clean. Room had a fridge and coffeemaker which we used, as well as a microwave that we didn't use. TV was \"roku\" which was new to me, couldn't figure out how to get live sports but I didn't care because we went out to a pub anyway - didn't come here to watch TV. The only downside to our stay was \"the Porch\" restaurant downstairs was closed due to a family issue which was understandable. No worries because we went out to town to eat anyway. Thanks for a great stay. Yes I would stay here again!

The lodge was very quiet when we stayed after Christmas. There was hardly anyone working , but the checkin was smooth with the staff from the restaurant helping us out with any questions. Good breakfast every morning.
The rooms are quite dated but adequate, nothing fancy definitely need some updates to bathrooms and carpet.
Overall a decent stay and the skiing was great.

Overall we enjoyed our overnight stay. The bedding was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The room itself was clean and very nice. The rugs throughout the room and hallways need a good shampooing.
The staff were very pleasant and friendly.
The bathroom sink has a dripping faucet.. It is definitely an older hotel but we would stay there again.

The property was decent. It was like walking straight into the 1990’s with the plush carpets and the yellow fixtures and oak bathroom. There were no elevators and having to unload everything really sucked as the hotel rooms were on the second floor. The mini fridge leaked all over the carpet as well. the breakfast was just homemade muffins, granola bars and cereal, but at least it was something until we could get to downtown for a restaurant. The beds were comfy though and the staff was incredibly friendly!

This was perhaps one of the worst nights I have spent in a hotel. First of all, the air conditioning in our room did not work. There was a fan in front of it to try to disperse the cool air around the room. However the air never really cooled off.

Furthermore, there was no one at the front desk. Our toilet was plugged and was plugged from the get go. We had not even used it. The lady at the front desk left at 10pm and there where no instructions for after hour issues. We ended up having to use the toilet on the main floor.

When we first arrived at 6pm there was no front desk worker. A note instructed us to check in at the restaurant. We did this, however the worker there had no idea that there was no one at the front desk and could not help us. We went to town for supper and returned later in the evening.

Due to the fires in the area we could not open the window, and the room was extremely hot. Despite the best efforts of the air conditioner/fan configuration.

There were construction materials left by the emergency exit. The alarm for the exit was set off early to ensure that any sleep we might have got was disrupted by 6am.

I talked to the front desk employee in the morning, who said they could not do anything for us (i.e. refund). She gave me the email for the manager. I sent a respectful email, and there was no response. I also left a voice mail and did not hear anything back.

Arrived early. Not staff to check in. Call number went to voicemail. Ended up waiting for an hour to check in. Friendly lady. Restaurant was closed. Bathtub filled up during my shower. Old old rooms. I was on a road trip and need a place to stay for one night. I guess it served it's purpose.
Breakfast was at 8. And very minimal.
Not very convenient. But at the end of the day I slept well.

The building is going through renovations, and they handle that quite well and not disturbing ones stay. But I stayed during a heat wave, and the air conditioner in my room did not keep up with this. It was close to midnight before the room was cool enough to get to sleep. Fortunately Kimberly cools down a lot at night, so with an open window then it was OK. Otherwise a nice place and good food.
