We recently stayed at Oasis Beach Motel in Taupo and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The standout feature is undoubtedly its exceptional location, directly facing the lake. Waking up in the morning to a stunning view of Lake Taupo and the surrounding mountains through the large glass doors in the bedroom was simply breathtaking. The scenery alone makes this property worth considering, and it is hard to beat the peaceful atmosphere and incredible outlook.
The only downside is that the property is showing its age and could benefit from some renovations and modernisation. However, despite being older, the room was comfortable, clean, and well-equipped with all the amenities we needed. Considering the budget-friendly price and the unbeatable lakefront location, we have no real complaints and would happily stay here again.

Heat pump is dead, the carpets need attention, as you open the doors, they was a bad smell of either moisture or unclean carpets or maybe doors were never opened for a while. The reception staff were so helpful. If those areas I mentioned are taken into consideration and addressed, it is a good place to be.

We had a 2 bedroom lake view room which we absolutely loved . The view was magnificent and the kids loved that the wildlife was outside our door. Public access is outside your door though but that didn’t really worry us. I would definitely advise to pay the extra for the lake view rooms.

Lovely and clean, location can’t be beaten! We had lakeside view 2 bedroom apartment. Yes, as per someone else’s review little tired in couple places. But so spacious, comfy beds, shower great, and price amazing! Would definitely stay here again, and will tell all my friends. Just wish weather had been better so could sit out on front deck, and have a swim in the pool. My son loved having ducks looking in the ranchslider at us!

I liked the hotel being on the lake and out of the downtown area. Can't swim in the lake though. Very rocky. We had a car so were able to drive. Room was nice, clean. Little kitchen was convenient. Staff was friendly and helpful. only negative was that if your room on the pool side it's open to all the rooms on the other side. No privacy unless you have the curtain closed. But still nice place. I would stay again.

We had a great room right on the corner, lake front and loved it! Staff were friendly, pool was lovely and warm, and having access to the millennium next door made life easy with young kids.
Only downfall was the windows in the back bedroom with the two beds are window shutters (sorry don’t know the proper name) so you could hear a lot of noise from people being outside / in their back rooms which woke the kids a lot at night. And the front door couldn’t be locked from the inside so not safe with escaping toddlers that can reach the low handle.

What a fab view. Unlike most others in Taupo, THIS motel is on the lakefront, not across the road. We opted for a lake view unit, and it was wothwhile. And to top it all off, it is basically part of the Millenium Hotel next door, so we could have ordered room service and used the gym! A shame we were only passing through, so only one night. Highly recommended.

The accommodation might look a bit outdated, but it was so comfortable with a hot swimming pool outside our door and an area to sit outside the room, lounge kitchen were separate to bedroom all cooled by air-conditioner; very very pleasant and relaxing. A short drive to town along the beautiful coast or you could walk, to a tonne of eateries and shops. Great stay

Called reception and after some convincing they changed our room, which wasn’t much better. They said we’d have to wait for the manager to bring us some keys for the room. The Oasis Beach Motel is a poor cousin to the Millennium Hotel (which owns it) next door. It has a beautiful lakeside location, but you need a lakeside unit before you get to enjoy that view. Otherwise, you may as well stay in a cheaper motel in one of Taupo's backstreets. The majority of the Oasis Beach Motel's units do not have a lake view. Reception is only staffed from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Outside those hours, all things Reception are done at the Millennium Hotel, where the Reception is said to be open 24/7. Housekeeping was of a good standard, and staff nice and friendly. I'd recommend it for the price I paid through Trivago, but manage your expectations, and remember you get what you pay for. I'd stay there again in a lakeside unit.

Similar to all the other reviews the Oasis Motel is on borrowed time i stayed in 718 a one bedroom unit that faced the pool this can be noisy with family groups until 8.00pm .

The booking I made stated payment was to be made at the hotel. I received a call advising if I didn’t make payment 2 days before they would cancel the room. I advised that I had planned to pay on arrival and the lady said “it’s because of people like you that we have to make these phone calls” and proceeded to advise that if I didn’t give my card number within the next 10 seconds she would cancel our booking. After taking my card number, she said that’s gone through and hung up on me.
As for the room - positives first.
It is positioned in an absolutely beautiful part with views of the Lake and very easy access with a balcony and table/chairs.
The pool was really nice. Big pool and clean.
The room however was disgraceful. I’ve been in 70 year old bach’s that are more modern and with better amenities.
The shower didn’t have any pressure, the bedrooms were tiny with no extra blankets.
Parking was an absolute nightmare and really challenging with a young baby.
It was priced up there with some of the better hotels and I could have probably excused the dated decor and musky smell but the customer service was an absolute no no for me. If it wasn’t the global games and there were alternative options we would have gone ahead and cancelled.
Understandably some translation is lost when using 3rd parties but some friendly explanation would have changed the whole experience. She even refused to give me her name. Never again

So dated we thought we had entered a time machine and were transported back in time. Door in main bedroom didn't open properly, you had to close it to get to one side of the bed. Went to take a shower and found cleaning paste filling the tray along with a face towel? Appears cleaners gave up a few seconds into the job. Pretty poor.

Room was WAY too hot. A/C did nothing. We stayed December 2025 in a lake front room to enjoy the view, but had an awful time enduring heat in our room. It was 25 degrees outside but hit 34 degrees inside our room with blinds shut and A/C on full. Unbearable for me, but dangerous for infants, seniors or any other sensitive groups. When asked, the staff did not provide any other remedy to the issue. It’s a shame, as the view and location really is amazing. Rooms are dated, but fine except from 4pm-8pm when the room turns into an oven.
