Hotel was fine for what we were looking for , somewhere to relax for a couple of days after our flight . Hotel is looking a bit tired likewise the rooms , beach bar is good as was breakfast . We didn’t appreciate having workmen outside our room for the duration of our stay !!!

It is always a pleasure to stay on this lovely oasis. The rooms are clean and large. The bed is very comfortable, the bathroom clean and spacious, and the teak furniture adds an exotic touch. The breakfast spread is fabulous, with Sri Lankan, Indian and western offerings. The Sri Lankan offerings are particularly yummy! This was my fifth stay, and I’ll be sure to return.

The room was spacious with a lovely bath and balcony overlooking the beach and pool. Old style furniture and comfortable bed. Staff very attentive. Pools both great with most sunbeds in a sandy area next to the main pool. Beach ideal for a walk and to take in local life. Road outside has lots of shops and restaurants. Hours cruise in the lagoon recommended - as is this hotel.

The room was tired and old, the pool area was nice and by the beach, however they did not have enough loungers and a number were broken. Breakfast was ok. For the cost of the room I felt it was quite poor value for money. Sri Lanka has great hotels with fantastic service at all price levels. This one disappointed.

This is the third time I have stayed at Jetwing Beach on a stopover to India. It is convenient to the airport. The rooms are comfortable and many overlook the beach. It is very quiet, and the breakfast is fabulous (particularly the Sri Lankan curry. Yum!).

The hotel's position on the beach is fantastic and the room (first floor, beach facing) was also excellent. However, for a supposedly 5 star hotel the breakfast was utterly dire. I guess that as there were so few guests, it was a la carte but the quality of the food was terrible. Stale pastries, bread came only in the form of half toasted slices of supermarket loaves of processed bread. Ask for more than one luke-warm, half filled latte and it was an additional charge. The food generally was much lower quality than the far cheaper BOHO Cafe 2 mins down the street next to Jetwing Blue. Even the staff at the Beach told me that the Blue was far better. Furthermore the gym, while adequate, hasn't seen a penny invested in it from the 1980s. Overall, the Beach was a miss as there are better hotels near by.

What a perfect start to a holiday in Sri Lanka. The staff were incredible and this hotel is beautifully located on the beach. We loved taking time to relax and also wonder up the beach to see the local fisherman bringing their catch in. We even had a beautiful meal under the stars. Would 100% recommend!

Bit dated and be aware of noisy weekends

On arrival we didn’t get the usual friendly Sri Lanka welcome. The hotel is a bit dated but our room had been recently painted. Getting a drink around the pool is hard work as the outside bar is often unattended. There is little/no atmosphere in the hotel and it was v quiet in the evening (we ate elsewhere during our 2 night stay). We went next door to Goldi Sands for a drink which seemed to have more going for it, there was a wedding on and the music stopped promptly at 11am.

On our second night (a Saturday) we were hoping for an early night before our morning flight the next day. However we were kept awake until after midnight by a very noisy wedding with fireworks. We think it was at the other Jetwing hotel which neighbours this one to the south. We called reception to complain but there was nothing they would do. The balcony doors and windows are old and single glazed, even with ear plugs we could still hear the music loudly, it was a very annoying end to a lovely holiday. We wouldn’t stay here again.

I enjoyed my stay at Jetwing Beach Negumbo. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of food. The main swimming pool is a good size and the location right by the beach. Short walk to the main restaurant/bar area in Negumbo and of corse very convenient for the airport.

This was an overnight stay before early morning flight. The hotel insisted on payment with USD. After some hassel they agreed to accept Sri lankan rupees. We asked them to cancel breakfast but they couldn't and offered to to give packed breakfast instead. Attitude was not customer friendly. Overall, good to stay. Did not get chance to try out the restaurants etc...

Food was great. The issues were with the mosquitoes in the room. The air conditioner barely worked so it was hot. The butler gave us a fan to use. We should of gotten another better room. When we go to the beach there’s always someone asking for money. They need to get rid of the homeless people out of there and stop bothering tourists for money and following them around the beach. There’s a big language barrier for the staff members. They speak little English and it’s hard to explain to them what exactly you need. They need to be taught.

We liked the food and the friendly and helpful staff. They are very supportive and they do everything what they can .
The main issue is the resort is not 5* resort, the rooms are outdated, need urgent make over.
The bed / clothes everything is wet of the moist, the ressort should invest in dehumidifier and should be more active regarding mosquitoes.

A dreary and depressing hotel. It was designed by a “famous” architect but like his other works it’s a very badly designed hotel. We were put in possibly the most remote room, maybe since we booked with hotels.com and not direct. Hotel has a major crow or raven problem. There are so many around the pool and sun beds. Only had breakfast there which was average. Very much in need of upgrading. I would not recommend it.

I would also.recomend the high tea again we had this twice and really enjoyed it. This was a return trip to this hotel and we would go again. The superb pool, the sun bathing area with plenty of shade, the beach bar for snacks and the beach where watching the local fishermen haul in their catch all make for a perfect stay. The staff are always smiling and helpful and the breakfast has everything any nationality could wish for.

Example of poor professionalism of this hotel : we ordered 2 room service ice creams. The ice cream ordered from their menu was 3 flavours (3 balls)with chocolate syrop and cashew nuts. First we received 2 ice creams with 2 balls without syrop and cashew nuts. We refused, the went back and brought us the same ice creams (partially melted) without SPOONS! They said that they would come back with spoons, but never came back... We couldn't enjoy our small wished delight. Many other things were a disaster too (no sunbeds available ecc), I spent 250€ for 1 night

Clearly lots of people have had a good stay here. I unfortunately did not.
Positives first - staff very friendly good selection of western & Sri Lankan food at all meals, sunset from the beach was beautiful, beds comfy and showers good.
Negatives - we found 5 cockroaches in 2 days over 2 rooms. They moved us after the first 4, but we found another on the final day. There is c pearly a drain problem, as whenever we flushed the toilet in either room, a few seconds later came a rotten egg smell. At breakfast, there are squirrels so tame that one climbed onto our table and ate food off the plate while we were still sat there!! Though the staff were nice, I was offered nothing to compensate for any complaint of which I told them everything.
Pick at your own risk, for a supposed 5 Star this was extremely disappointing!

Great place!

Not far from airport- a lovely small hotel! Top floor room with a brilliant sea view and very comfortable. Nice pools and literally on the beach.
Restaurant food - good. Lovely bar area literally on the beach.
Or alternatives on the street outside- Lord's was excellent for a meal.

The hotel is hard to find, everybody seems to know it as Jetwing Blue. Large, spacious rooms furnished to a good standard. However, not enough water was provided without having to ask for more in rather small sized glass bottles, I would rather pay higher price direct to hotel and then get more water provided. Also there was a many insects in the room. The food is very good and the hotel would be excellent if more could be done to spray and stop the insects.

Arrived after a long tuk tuk ride from Colombo to a serene and welcoming check in. Cold towels and iced tea. Amazing room with THE most fantastic bathroom. Bed was super comfy - everything was top notch. Breakfast was very good quality. Pina Coladas very good too! Staff very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this as a stop off before you head home- this place made our last day very special.

Great hotel in a lovely location - definitely the best hotel in the area. Right on a lovely, clean stretch of beach. Rooms are comfortable, breakfast is fabulous. Highly recommend booking a suite if you can stretch to it. Staff are friendly and helpful. The only downside was noise - there were a couple of private parties that were noisy and spoiled the peaceful and otherwise fabulous atmosphere.

a very different hotel - in a good way

I stayed at this hotel because it was reasonably close to the airport, and on the beach, and would have been happy with something quite basic, but the quality of service and facilities was more than I expected.

It is also the first hotel I have ever stayed in that outlines a clear policy of zero tolerance of child abuse and gives directions to guests as to what they can do if they observe something untoward.

It also practises the vaccination and speying of the street dogs around the hotel.

A pleasant surprise was the biography (in my room) of the founder of the chain of Jetwing properties, Herbert Cooray, which made a fascinating read.

Highly recommend this hotel!

We had a lovely weekend. The staff could not be more hospitable. We received a warm welcome, were upgraded to a suite and dinner was delicious with many complimentary courses. After dinner, we returned to our room to discover a cake recognising our celebration! So thoughtful!! We shall certainly return.

Not Long Enough

I booked into the Jetwing Beach Resort around 2:30pm and checked at 10:00pm the same day as I wanted somewhere close to the airport where I could put my luggage and relax in comfort before my 1:00am flight. I paid for a full night for a Deluxe room (with breakfast) even though I didn't use the full night or the breakfast (AUD$159.00).

I was very happy with the quality of my room, the facilities (pool area) and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. While the room itself (wall finishes, cabinetry etc.) and the hotel generally is somewhat dated, the finishing's such as bed, bath, shower and toilet were clean and modern and were of a very good standard.

It took 20 minutes by taxi at a cost of RS3000.00 to get to the airport rather than the 45 minutes to an hour from Colombo. I would have liked to stay longer and would certainly stay at the Jetwing Beach Resort Negombo again.

Rest stop after long haul flights with toddler

Definitely what we were looking for after the 32hrs of travel we had with our 17month old - secluded, quiet, scenic with good food and service. Sadly we were first offered a ground floor room that opened right onto kids pool so we couldn't open our curtains since zero privacy. We then shifted upstairs n it was great with balcony. But property needs to badly control the mosquitoes as was too many every where esp near rooms n in rooms. Then they had huge dogs roaming near restaurant. Have to constantly shoo them away while trying to eat. they are so common that service staff too forgets it could be upsetting to some guests (like me who is a tad scared of strey dogs). Spa was horrible n huge disappointment.

Nice hotel-right on the beach!

Lovely hotel right on the beach. Nice touches in the rooms like freshly brewed coffee and fruit. Big bathrooms with beach views, great pool, huge breakfast buffet. Didn't eat there in the evening so can't comment on the dinner. Nice service-just incredibly slow (which seems to be the norm for SL!). Highly recommend this place!

The hotel itself is fine, but overpriced. We stayed over Christmas and it was clear that despite their best efforts, the staff were struggling with the many guests. Most importantly, they had rented out the hotel beach to a private function with a dj that played loud dance music, making it impossible to enjoy the hotel facilities or even sleep. For a hotel in this price range, I think that's unacceptable

This was the perfect hotel to relax for our first visit to Sri Lanka. Great hotel, fantastic beach and nice crowd. One advice: do not eat at the hotel when there is not buffet. There are great small restaurants outside!

Nice Hotel on the Beach

We were here only for 1 night, Hotel is on a beach, it has a nice swimming pool.
1 Thing we didn't like is that food for Vegetarians is very limited at this place. Since Negombo is a fishing town, vegetarian food is difficult to find. If you are a vegetarian and visiting this hotel then I would recommend you inform the hotel 1-2 days in advance and they will have a good food option set up for you.

Honest staff and great service.

I chose this hotel because it was rated one of the highest in Negombo and close
to the airport. Staff was honest and very friendly. I forgot to lock the safe in the room and my wallet with cash was in tact. I ID the staff and gave you a generous tip. Great hotel if you want to relax and enjoy the beach.
