The word for this hotel is \"pretentious\"! Gold-plated door handles! But a room no bigger than the cheapest at Ibis and a bathroom so tiny that you need to squeeze past the door before you can shut it. No coffee service in the room. Minimal TV channel choices. No shuttle to the train station - they're happy to call a limousine for you. And breakfast an additional CH25.00 per day. Pleasant and helpful staff undercut by poor policies.
For the price charged this is just about the worst value I've encountered in many, many years of travel in Europe.

I stay at this hotel whenever I am in the region for business. It is a great location with the train from Zurich and motorway, and also great for those wishing to explore Appenzell district and Lake Konstance. The hotel is located just in the edge of the old town in the centre of St Gallen, so there are shops and restaurants within a couple of minutes walk. Be warned, On Sunday’s there are very few places open to eat in winter so plan your meals wisely.
The rooms are simple, but always clean and comfortable. Some have been upgraded and are very comfortable and more modern. All the rooms I have stayed in are quiet and stocked with the necessary amenities.
The hotel has onsite parking and a valet service. There is also a fitness centre, bar, bistro & gourmet restaurants as well as a large conference centre.
The main reason I keep returning to this hotel, though, is the staff. They are are both professional and friendly and go out of their way to make your stay special. From receptionists, to night porters, housekeeping to bellman, they all go that extra mile that makes the biggest difference.
I highly recommend this hotel for both business and leisure travellers.

Einstein Highly Recommended for St. Gallen
The Einstein has excellent facilities in the midst of a beautiful town, easy walking distance around St. Gallen or to the university. The food is very expensive, but that seems to be the case in Switzerland in general. The duvet in my room was a bit too warm for me, but I am sure they could have attended to that if I had asked (so my fault for not asking). Gym facilities were excellent too, and they allowed me to use the gym and continue parking my car into the late afternoon of the day I checked out, which was very convenient. Service was friendly and excellent all around.

Very nice hotel and conveniently located. Excellent and comfortable rooms that are nicely appointed and well equipped. Very quite street next to the old town square and the library. There are many restaurants within walking distance and the train/bus station is only a 5 minute walk away. The breakfast bar is excellent with a wide selection of foods from around the world. For the Americans there are scrambled eggs in addition to the traditional hard boiled eggs, meats and cheeses typically encountered in Europe. Bar is nice and comfortable, they serve a limited menu there. I did not visit the restaurant or the cafe, both looked very empty when I was visiting.

Beautiful place, nice bar, nice buffet breakfast, as you would expect for the price. Only shortcoming was lack of air conditioning. We like a cool.cold room and even in October, had to open the window which let in street noise from nearby outside restaurant/bar. This was a minor and actually opening the window had the advantage of connecting with this small city.

A standard room without air conditioning in a 4-star hotel? Seems impossible, but it's true -- in the Einstein the economy rooms have no a/c whatsoever. I was just there on a normal summer day and the room temperature was 100 F. They offered me a fan. It caught up to the heat sometime after midnight. I've stayed in the Einstein many times before, but never in an economy room in the summer. I was just coming from Stuttgart where the fact our 3-star hotel only offered a/c from 4 pm - 11 pm seemed laughable. But the Einstein's standard rooms in summer are 1-star. Stay away.

We decided to visit St. Gallen over the Easter weekend, to take advantage of a few days off to see this fascinating city.
The Einstein Hotel staff are completely wonderful. The hotel itself is comprised of two different buildings: an older one where the \"comfort\" rooms are, and a newer one where the \"superior\" rooms are. Though we reserved a comfort room, upon seeing the room, we quickly decided to upgrade to a superior one (mainly to have a bathtub). The desk clerk was kind enough to give us the three day upgrade for the price of two.
The bar and restaurant are very good, though pricey. It is worth noting that in spite of a smoking ban in Switzerland, the bar does have a smoking room, with full bar service. Needless to say that this is the busiest part of the hotel.
Generally, we enjoyed staying at the Einstein, and would stay there again on our next trip to St. Gallen.

少し長めの休暇で、急遽、最後の旅程なのでこちらでゆっくりすることにしました。修道院図書館、大聖堂には近く、旧市街のレストラン、カフェ、ちょっとしたショッピングをするには便利です。夜は静かです。ホテルから坂道を上がってちょっとしたハイキングがてら大きな公園にも行きましたがボーデン湖が見え素晴らしい景色です。

Das Einstein ist ein zentral gelegenes Hotel und wir hatten ein zweckmässiges Zimmer. Das Badezimmer war sehr klein und eng. Das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr ausgiebig und befindet sich im Nebengebäude.

Wie immer war unser Aufenthalt im Hotel Einstein phantastisch. Wenn wir in St. Gallen sind, logieren wir immer im Hotel Einstein! Die Lage ist ruhig aber doch Central. Das Personal ist immer sehr kompetent und freundlich. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und schön! Das Zimmer 328 bei diesem Aufenthalt hat uns sehr gefallen, da es heller ist als andere und mit Aussicht. Leider war der Pool dieses Mal nicht nutzbar, was sehr schade war. Das Fitnesscenter ist top. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Die Zimmer sind zweckmässig, die Matratzen gut. Das Personal sehr freundlich. Leider waren die Zimmer sehr ringhörig und Gespräche im Gang vom Putzpersonal am Telefon oder von Gäste wurden als störend empfunden (nach 22 Uhr und am Morgen vor 8 Uhr. Insgesamt hat uns der Aufenthalt für diese Preiskategorie nicht überzeugt.

Die Bar Lounge hervorragend bestückt mit Zigarren und Liquorauswahl. Reception auch sehr freundlich. Zimmerservice hingegegen nicht eines 4 Stern Hotels würdig Dreckige Gläser Staub und Dreck unter dem Bett. Dafür der Preis zuhoch. Wellness und Restaurant habe ich nicht benutzt , kann ich nicht bewerten.

Very nice stay, staff is incredibly friendly and proactive, they will handle your needs in a Swiss effective manner :-). Breakfast is also super ! Amenities are okay and structure is fine and comfortable .

Hotellet höll mycket hög klass. Det finns en bar i själva hotellbyggnaden med en meny som serveras även efter att flertalet restauranger i St Gallen stängt. Allt var mycket snyggt, rent och välordnat. Dessutom sov jag utmärkt!
