Liked: Location, breakfast at The Pinch next store, the place was clean.

Disliked: The room and hotel lobby looked nothing like the pictures. Our room was plain and ugly and uncomfortable. Parking is stacked and you have to give your keys to the front desk (not as advertised). Service carts left in the hallways all night. It felt like the staff had given up making the place seem nice in the time of COVID and low occupancy. This should be rated as a 1 star or 2 star hotel. We checked out a night early partly due to the disappointment in the room. There was a mistake in the charge, and the hotel promised to refund the money. So far, it has not come through and multiple attempts to contact them have yielded silence. Very disappointed honestly.

An older building with its share of quirks, but an extremely wonderful staff and an awesome breakfast. it also has the added benefit of being in a great location, just down the street from the historic old city and a five minute walk from the train station. Well worth the money.

Great location, 3 mins walk from train station, bus stop and supermarket Migros. Easy access to all tourist attractions. Friendly staff and room is clean, spacious and well-equipped. Bed is very comfortable and our room was in the 4th floor with a great view. We would stay here again.

The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. I booked a one-night stay here because of a most excellent stay I had a dozen years ago. Still a wonderful staff and great breakfast, but the furnishings seem tired and worn and maybe could use a coat of paint. Nevertheless, I plan to return in a few months for a longer stay. :)

Wonderful staff!

This hotel had the nicest employees we encountered on our stay in Switzerland! All staff were friendly and helpful, giving us excellent suggestions for restaurants and sightseeing. Upon arrival, they provided a parking pass so we could leave our car on the street, as access to their lot was blocked by construction. Our room was a good size, and the beds were comfortable. They even offered a variety of pillows, which was greatly appreciated after a long flight. The bathroom was roomy and spotless, the shower pressure was terrific, and the toiletries were high quality. Happily, there was a tea kettle in the room. There were adequate outlets for charging our electronics, reading lights on both sides of the bed, and great Wifi. Breakfast was quite tasty, with ample choices, very good bread, and lattes. Extra touches were the bowl of fruit set out for guests, the bowl of candy at the reception desk, and the brightly colored hardboiled eggs at breakfast. The hotel is on a quiet street and is a short walk to the old town.

Hotel is closed when check-in

This is absolutely ridiculous, I've received all the room booking confirmation before I arrived on 24Dec, however, when I arrived there, the hotel is closed until 7Jan!!!!!
I had to run around to find another hotel so that I don't need to sleep under the bridge!!!
The hotel shouldn't accept any booking if they decided to shut it down completely during the festive season.

Warmth all round!

A practical, convenient, and cosy place to stay, and I would return again. There was a snow and hailstorm as we arrived shedding ice-balls on their floor, but the warmth of the hotel and the warmth of its receptionists, cheered us up immediately, and continued throughout our stay.

Thi hotel is lower on our Swiss hotel lists.

Up two blocks of road construction and over another two blocks, we reached the hotel from the train station. Hotel is half way between St. Gallen historical area and the train station. It was a very hot initial two days. They didi their best to get some air circulated with two fans in our room. The free breakfast was not held at proper temperatures, had run out of items and staff could not keep up with all the tables of guests especially over the weekend. The weekday was better as not as many folks stayed here. Became more watchful in the area at night as no one was around all of the high rise buildings.We wondered if it might be a low season?

had a great stay in the sorrell hotel as we were in st gallen for the st gallen v swansea city game. hotel was only a 5 minute walk from the train station + a 10 min walk from the centre of town (ideal as the taxi prices are extortionate) our apartment wasnt ready when we arrived so we were given free beer as we waited for our room (great as we had been travelling for over 12 hrs) only flaw was there was only a continental breakfast available but that was ok as there was plenty of choice. i would definately consider staying here again

The Weissenstein was a great value and a very nice hotel. We had a two bedroom apartment that was very attractively furnished. With the Expedia discount, it cost us no more than a regular hotel room would have cost. The rate inluded breakfast which was quite good.The location was very central, but it was on a quiet street, so there was very little street noise.

The staff spoke several languages very well and were very helpful. The location was excellent walking distance from the train station, old town, and the Abbey. My room was a little small and the twin bed was uncomfortable---I recommend upgrading to at least a double for the single rooms. I haven't slept in a twin bed since I was 12 years old. I paid an average of 182.00 USD a night--this hotel was not worth that value, I paid more because it was a holiday in Switzerland.

Perfektes Hotel für Citytrip

Wunderbar zentral gelegens (nahe Bahnhof) Hotel, aber trotzdem sehr ruhig. Ich hatte ein riesiges Appartement und war fast traurig, dass ich nur für eine Übernachtung geblieben bin und so wenig Zeit dort verbringen konnte, schön gestaltet, alles da, was man als Tourist benötigt. Das Personal war höchst zuvorkommend und sehr freundlich, das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr fein, frisch und lecker, und es wurde immer wieder nachgelegt. Ich komme gern wieder :-)

Front desk ladies especially the Malaysian lady was really friendly and helpful. Excellent service!!! Location is good, nearby the supermarket and train station. Breakfast is nice. We also had free welcome drinks, tea, soft drinks, fruits, little snacks etc in the lobby during our stay. Free parking also provided from the hotel. We have a pleasant stay at this hotel.

Das Hotel war nur 3 Minuten vom Bahnhof entfernt, wir wussten das zu schätzen, da wir mit der Eisenbahn unterwegs waren. Wir haben uns für das billigste Zimmer entschieden und waren sehr zufrieden damit. Wir unternahmen einen
Ausflug sehr früh morgens und erhielten ein reichhaltiges Frühstück für unterwegs. Am Sonntag sehr gutes Frühstück bis um 11:00 und late check out bis 12:00. Wir waren sehr zufrieden.

Good location

The staff is very nice; breakfast is good. The terrace close to the entrance is very cosy and invites you to take a rest after a city sightseeing. I would have liked to have more lamps in my room as it was difficult to read my book. I do hope to go back to St Gallen in future.

Das Sorell Hotel liegt nur 10 Gehminuten vom Domviertel entfernt. Es ist sehr ruhig gelegen und bietet einen Parkplatz für 12 Franken pro Tag hinter dem Haus. Das Personal ist superfreundlich, alles ist sehr sauber. Auch das Frühstück lässt kaum Wünsche offen.
