The property is ok and it’s close to the city around 15 minutes walking but the facilities in the room mainly the shower weren’t ok because you have to let the steam from the shower out of the window overlooking parts of the corridor and people can view you and it’s a invasion of privacy and wasn’t comfortable

First of all, this hotel doesn't have an elevator. They assigned us a room at the 4th floor. At least they managed to take our luggage to the room. Which was very heavy and the poor guy was totally out of breath when he finished with our luggage. This property also doesn't have any air conditioning. During the mornings and evenings the weather it's between the 50-60° F which is ok. But during the nights it gets hotter. The room had a window which we opened to get some fresh air. But the problem is that the window is right next to the stairs so all the night and early mornings you'll be listening to people getting up and down the stairs. We didn't even get to rest due to this. The manager and staff were very polite but honestly I do NOT recommend staying at this hotel at all.

The night front desk was very helpful when my boyfriend and I needed a taxi to get to the hospital. Language barriers was difficult traveling in Peru, but this employee helped us a lot in finding a good hospital and taxi. The room and bathroom was cleaned although this place was far from the city center. It is located in a quiet area at least. there is NO wifi in the room. The only wifi access is at the reception area. Despite of the good service we received, I would prefer staying in the Cusco city center if I'll ever come back.

The location of the property is not great for tourists. Our room had no external windows. The 2 windows we had opened onto the stairs which made it very noisy with people coming and going all night as there is no lift

the free breakfast buffet on the top floor had a nice view of the city, and food was okay. the staff were really nice and a few spoke clear english. it was nice of the staff to offer to pack us a snack to go, when we were checking out of the hotel in the earl morning.

dislikes: initially, our room was on the basement floor, with no windows facing outside, and poor ventilation. it always smelt like mildew and mold since there was no way for the steam from the washroom to air out. the room was very cramped, and didn't have a fridge or microwave. there were also little ants on the bedsheets.

after 3 days, the front desk staff offered to move us to a different room which was on a higher floor, and it was a huge improvement. spacious, clean, good ventilation, microwave, mini fridge, and free filtered water on the same floor.

all rooms should meet the same standards, regardless of which floor

I booked this for after hiking as I wanted a quiet place to recover after hiking. The reviews were wrong. The way the building is built, everything in the hallways echos. Location was farther out from the main plaza than expected as well. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was decent.

Hidden Gem in Cusco!

This was the best hotel experience I have had in years, both in the US as well as Peru. As this was a pay when you arrive deal, Hotels.com had failed to forward my reservation. But without hesitation, Fernando at the front desk immediately honored the price I had reserved and quickly gave us (3 couples travelling together) rooms right next to each other. The beds were super comfortable and the room heaters worked well in combination to the bed covers to keep things toasty warm at night. Breakfast was a mix of simple fruits and breads and a bit of cereal. But the real bonus was the cooked to order egg options that were included at no extra charge. What a great way to start each day. Staff was helpful with any questions we had. And they not only held our extra luggage for our overnight to Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu, they had our luggage waiting in our respective rooms upon our return. I highly recommend this super comfortable, and unpretentious hotel to anyone looking for an affordable place to stay while in Cusco.

Screwed up our transfer from airport that was arranged a week in advance. Cab driver knew our names (after giving him the name of the hotel and made a call.) Charged us 3X as much as was supposed to. No apologizes.
Left luggage (while climbing MP) and they lost our luggage (was later found). Tried to give us the wrong room (as in someone else's stuff was in it and DIRTY.) Would not recommend.

Taxi drivers do not know about it.

First off taxi drivers have no clue of how to get to it. You are better off using your phone GPS. ( If you have signal, lol)
One grate thing is that in the lobby the have and oxygen device free to use. I recommend to use immediately as you arrive and often after that as long you are in Cusco.
The breakfast is well prepared and served at the top terrace with almost 360 city view.

Room is good, staffs are so nice, especially the manager Nelly, she helps you out with a lot of things, breakfast is diverse, lot of choices, heating system in the room, I don't think I can find a better place which worths this price in Cuzco. I think the people in the hotel know they are running a business of service industry and try their best to provide a service which exceed the guests' need!

It is located about 15 min walk from the plaza, and it was a pretty new hotel, it is located on a quiet street in front of the local beer factory. It is nice because it was new and everything was clean.
It is quiet, the only issue was that the floors are very thin, and if there is someone above you it is possible to hear their steps.
the walk to the plaza is not very pleasing but it was no issue.
I would definitely recommend it, but I next time I would like to stay closer to the plaza.
they have a taxi service from the hotel to the airport.

Nice hotel but could improve on certain points

We stayed here for 2 nights in Sep 2015. The staff was very courteous. They had a major wifi problem - the wifi would work only in the lobby and not in the room. They had another network for the room but for whatever reason they were not able to give us the password for that network. The rooms are clean and the hotel is smartly done up. There is 24x7 hot water available.

The location is not the best - the Plaza is about a mile away and we weren't able to catch a cab back at 10 pm. There aren't many good restaurants close to the hotel. There is a beer factory opposite and some colleges surrounding the place. The breakfast is much better than other places in Cusco - fresh fruits, sausages etc. On the last morning they ran out of drinking water and said it would be available only after 9 am (we were checking out at 8 am)! Overall OK but I would choose a place that is closer to the Plaza and has wifi in the rooms.

New, modern hotel at an affordable price.

Room was very nice, modern, and always clean. The bathroom was very clean and always had hot water. Wifi was available in rooms which was a plus. The breakfast was surprisingly good and pleasant. The hotel itself was not too far from the main square (10 mins walk), but was a very reasonable price. Staff even kept our luggage for days when we went for the Machu Picchu hike. Overall a great experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Golden Inca Hotel. It was a bit hard to find it is across from the alcohol and beer factory. Found in a local neighborhood with great little markets and chicken restaurants.

Spent two nights here on our honeymoon

Took us about 10 minutes each day to walk to the Plaza de Armas, so not too far at all. Never felt unsafe in this location, though it gets a little questionable the further east and south you go. The staff was very helpful and friendly and willing to go out of their way for anything you need. We had an early flight out on our last day and they came to breakfast early so we could take some stuff on the road with us. They offer free cell phones for local use while you're staying there. The whole hotel is very clean and has a modern design. The bed was very comfortable and it was relatively quiet in the room (we stayed in a room right on the street, 2nd floor). Breakfast was good - pretty standard fare for Peru and nothing outstanding. The only problem we encountered was that our shower only had warm water and it drained very slowly. We stayed two nights and it took them until late on the second day to fix the hot water. They were very apologetic and we weren't super disappointed because hot water had been a luxury anywhere else we stayed in Peru.

I definitely recommend Hotel Golden Inca to others and would stay there again myself.

Great location but let down by simple things

The Hotel Golden Inca was in a great location to get into Cusco.
On welcoming the reception staff were friendly and took my bags for me. Some of the staff English was really good so communication wasn't a problem most times.

My room was in the basement. So my only window looked out onto the hotel boiler which was noisy at various times in the day and night. I also had no natural light which made waking up seem difficult. The room had a good standard of cleanliness and the room facilities was adequate for my needs. Just would have been nice to have some natural light.

Breakfast was served on the 5th floor (so 6 flights of steps to get to breakfast). I found at breakfast there was never any cups/plates/bowls available for use and had to keep asking for things. Breakfast selection was typical of a Peru breakfast. Ham, cheese, fruit, yoghurt. But no hot food on offer like other places. I usually ended up having a little breakfast with what was available and going out for further breakfast.

From this floor was a balcony which did offer great views over the area to get an idea of Cusco city.

Had I maybe had a room with natural lighting which didn't have boiler noises I'd maybe recommend this hotel. Especially for its price. But no matter what price I pay I expect to be able to have a good nights sleep which I didn't for the two nights I stayed. It was interrupted sleep and confusion in the morning when it still seemed so dark.

Good condition, problem with service/communication

Overall it was OK but I had problems about payment and luggage storage. The hotel doesn’t take credit cards. They want the 1st night paid in advance by either transferring money to their bank or Western Union. After I sent the $ via WU, the hotel would not confirm receiving it, therefore, would not confirm my reservation. They’d take 2-4 days each time to respond to my emails & always said: \"upon receiving the payment, your reservation will be confirmed!” But I had sent the payment and the proof of it. I didn’t know why they wouldn’t pick it up! I didn’t know whether my reservation was secure or not until I arrived.

Despite this, when I arrived, I was pleased. The staff was nice (only one of them speaks limited English). The rm was large and clean. There was heat, hot water and refrigerator/microwave in the kitchen. It was comfortable.

Next day I left for a 4-day trek and asked if I could leave a bag. I was happy when they said yes. However, when I came back, the front desk lady wouldn’t give me my bag. She didn’t speak English so first I thought my bag was lost but then realized that she didn’t have the key to the storage. It was midnight & I had to catch a flight in a few hrs. I stayed in the lobby while the lady called around to find a solution. She was nice and brought me a blanket. TWO hours later someone brought the key…it was nice of them to take care of this matter but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. I made it to my flight but it was a big headache.

Terrible location and hotel!!

There was black mold in the bathroom and behind the head panel ! I was concerned about that a lot! I brought it up to the hotel staff and they did clean the bathroom mold but I don't know about the head panel so ... The rooms are very stuffy, no sun light and no fresh air so. I would not recommend it!! It is cheap for a reason!!!!

Friendly staff, location not ideal, but overall ok

When we arrived, we were welcomed by friendly staff. We checked-in quite early, but we were still accommodated. The only thing was that there were no pillowcases and duvet cover, which affected my sleep because of the feathers/ material inside the pillows and duvet. They kept protruding (and the hard, bottom part of the feather hurt), sticking onto our clothes. But maybe this was because we were too early? They promised to deliver the pillow cases, but did not happen. For 2 nights we slept like this, which did not help the altitude sickness to subside. We felt more restless, but the staff made up for what lacked. They provided coffee when we asked, and oxygen, too, when I was hypoximic. On our third night, though, they changed our room and it was much more comfortable. Cable TV was good and mineral water was free on the 3rd floor. Buffet breakfast was ok, no hot selection. It comprised mostly of bread and fruits. Visa card did not work the first time, too, because their machine was inoperative, so make sure to bring extra cash.

Great Hotel in Cusco

The hotel was, overall, great. We arrived on an early flight and were allowed to check-in early to a room that was incredibly comfortable and clean. The beds had nice down comforters on them which I appreciated as Cusco is pretty chilly at night, even during the summer. The staff were accommodating and the hotel is in a quiet neighborhood that's only a fifteen minute walk to the main square...far enough away from the noise if you like to sleep in. Cusco is a very safe city and none of my traveling party felt uncomfortable walking alone at any hour of the day or night. My only complaint had nothing to do with the hotel or it's staff, but the neighbors have a rooster that likes to crow at all hours of the night. This stopped after the first couple of days but if you're a very light sleeper bring earplugs. Overall I was very impressed with Hotel Golden Inca. For the price it's a great value in a great location.

Hotel staff are very friendly. Breakfast is good. The drawbacks are: 10 minutes walk to city center, Taxi's don't know where this hotel is located, rooms are small, bathrooms are not so good. When you see through windows, you see other windows. I went with family and my wife kept complaining every single day.

The room was okay, but the bedding was clean, which is the most important. The staff at check-in were very sweet, but they were half an hour late with our wake-up call. When we finally received the call I asked what time it was and they lied saying it was when the original call should have been. This caused a bit of confusion if our clocks were right and if there was a strange little time change. Wouldn't have been a big deal if they just apologized that it was late. It was easy to get to the main square.

Best beds aand showers

This hotel is still being remodeled but it has brand new memory foam top beds and completely updated showers. Great water pressure and plenty of hot water. If you have ever been in Peru you know that this is a BIG plus. Not as picturesque as some and a little further away from the center of town but well worth a stay. Tell the cab driver that it is across from the brewery. it will help them find it. Beautiful, helpful staff. Money well spent.

Location, location, location

Hotel advertises \"Free\" transportation to and from airport, but it refused to cover the return to the airport. Thus, it needs to clarify it's marketing on that point. Secondly, it's located over a half mile from the more active downtown tourist area, which may not seem like a lot, unless you factor in the 11,000 altitude into walking such a distance.

misleading description of hotel

I was excited to stay at this hotel as it had recieved good reviews previously. However, I am sad to say that the hotel description is very misleading. There was no free wifi and often when we would need to use the computer in the common area - a member of the staff would be sitting on the computer. We got off on the wrong foot to begin with - a member of staff said they would be at the airport when we arrived - no one turned up and although we had email confirmation advising us that they would meet us - the staff member who sent the email declined that this service was available. The building is unfinished and possibly unsound - room would move when trucks went by. Also, after a few days we struggled to open or close the door to our room as the door kept sticking/jamming. On two occasions there was no hot water and no apology or discount for this. The hotel is located directly opposite a truck depot and we found ourselves waking up throughout the night because of trucks coming in and out of the depot. Due to the location (10-15mins walk from the main town) we were told that it was unsafe to walk around at night and we realised this walking home one night. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless it was a overnight stopover - even then i would recommend shopping around for a hotel or backpackers closer to the main plaza.

Smelled like urine, bad breakfast

Had read a lot of good reviews of this place, so went ahead and booked. The room itself was clean and well maintained, but the smell was horrible, smelled like urine and sewage the whole time and it was highly displeasing to the senses. The am breakfast was disappointing and when we returned there after 2 days, we found the same rotting fruit being served. The milk products were left out and not refrigerated and overall the hygiene was poor for breakfast.

Great Service, Great Everything

Can't speak enough about their customer service. Coca tea as soon as we arrived, bellman running out to the cab to get our bags and leave them in our room before we even checked in! The hotel knew exactly who we were and upgraded our room as well. Free breakfast in the morning really helps. Really warm shower and beautiful bed with cable tv. The only complaint we have is the radiator didn't get as hot as we like it (but we still were not cold). Only a short 10 min walk from main tourist part of town and less than half the price. The maids were on top of everything and very thorough (even returned expensive stuff we left in our room that morning after we checked out). Night shift guy chased our crappy delivery guy down the street to address our concerns about change and wouldn't let him leave until it was resolved. They gave us late check out when we asked, no problem. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, and some speak beautiful English. I have stayed in 5 star resorts all over the world and have never experienced this level of customer service. They treat their guests like royalty.

Poor location and not the best value at all

I stayed here for 1 night because of the price but frankly, for only $5 US more, I stayed in a place right off of Plaza de Armes. This hotel is super far from the main part of town and not worth the hassle of going back and forth. It's in a really remote part of town. The bedding was fine (goose down pillows and comforter though goose down also can mean feathers sticking out and stabbing you). The room had a small heater so they brought us a space heater. The bathroom was fine, but could use a freshening up. All in all, this hotel is just in a bad location (i.e., too far from the main part of town) and why waste your time, effort and cab headache getting to and from here when there are plenty of places for just a few bucks more right in the heart of Cusco?

We were pleasntly suprised at the cleanliness and comfort of the Golden Inca, especially at the price. This is th e third of four hotels we stayed in during our trip. The staff was very freindly and when we were to tired to go out to eat, they call in dinner two nights for us. There is no reserauant in the hotel. We stayed in a suite, but overall we would rate this as an excellent value. It is a bit of a walk to the Plaza del Armas, but allows you to see a lot of the city.

OK hotel for Cusco

The hotel is not located very central, the building is not finished so the first impression is not so good. Our room was quite big since it was suite but you can not use it as such. The staff is helpful but makes mistakes like forgetting to pick us up from the airport so I had to phone them. The breakfast was OK: eggs, cornflakes, yoghurt, fruit, bread, tea, coffee...

Great location, great place to stay, clean, very comfortable beds, wireless internet. Staff were extremely helpful with tour information and booking. They were also very nice and helpful when I got food poisoning- they sent a courier to get me gatorade and cipro! Would definitely stay here again if back in Cuzco.

One of the better hotels i have stayed in!

It truly was a pleasure to be staying at this property over the weekend which was situated about 1.5 hours outside of la Serena airport. It is located in the vale of pisco elqui and was one of if not the nicest places that was situated there that i saw. Cabana was clean and spacious, the staff was excellent, enjoyed the taste breakfast and the well situated pool.

I would return to this hotel in any given opportunity, they even picked us up at the airport at no extra cost! That just goes to show you how friendly and how willing they are to make your stay enjoyable!

Don't think twice, book it!

Excellent value, clean, great service

I stayed here for 5 nights. It is located about 1/2 mile from the main city center, but still convenient for walking. The staff is incredibly helpful and made sure our stay was nice. The rooms are small, but clean and very nice.

This is probably the best value for money I have had anywhere in the world. I never write hotel reviews, but was so impressed with this hotel and the service that I made sure to write a positive review.
