Francisca was a great host, she went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. But the hotel was changing the management and on our last day the hotel was completely empty it was only me and my mom.
The new management arrived at 6am EXTREMELY LOUD people. They were walking up and down the stairs on non stop smoking sage all over the hotel on a Sunday 6am - we couldn’t breathe with all the sage, it was awful.
Politely I asked them if they could respect us and let us sleep but it was like talking to the wall. The new people that are running this hotel are extremely rude, they didn’t respect me and my mom.
They were walking like elephants up and down. Didn’t let us rest at all. It has being an awful experience. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY. If you want to ruin your trip book this hotel.
I told the receptionist that 6am is not ok to wake people up on a Sunday.

We would have given 5 stars if not for some black mold spots in the shower curtains and shower walls. Personnel is friendly and very helpful. Also, the hotel is close to Cuzco's main square.

It's a lovely place to have as a base for your tours. It's also a 5-minute walk to Plaza de Armas square. Furthermore, Francesca is a former tour guide with a lot of experience who is happy to help with advice and tips. She and Edgar are very caring towards their guests; highly recommended.

Estuvimos en total 3 noches en este alojamiento en Cusco. En general es un alojamiento optimo para estar en Cusco cerca del centro (Plaza de Armas) y con un servicio correcto y un espacio limpio y ordenado. El desayuno es un poco justo (no esperes gran cosa), pero es un alojamiento correcto pues nosotros solo íbamos a dormir. La dueña y los empleados son amables y nos guardaron las maletas los días que fuimos a Machu Picchu. Lástima que la ultima noche nos dieron una habitación con camas individuales y no de matrimonio, ya que somos un matrimonio, pero solo fue una noche. Las habitaciones no son muy grandes pero suficientes, al menos para nosotros que no somos muy exigentes con estas cosas siempre y cuando sea un sitio limpio....y lo es. Si tenéis problemas de movilidad reducida mejor que os den habitación en las plantas más bajas. Como en la mayoría de alojamientos de este tipo en Lima, les haría falta que te dieran champú (solo te dan pastillas de jabón) y que las cortinas impidieran el paso de la luz solar pues entra mucha luz por la mañana. Son aspectos a mejorar.

My only complaint is that I wished for the breakfast to be better like more options but I understant that will drive the price up. Other wise the place is great. A big plus they have is electric heaters in each room. We came from NY and I belived I was prepare for the cold night in the the winter months, but once you are in Cusco belive me you will want to have the heater next to you.

Not too far and not too close from Plaza de Armas. Short walk to the center of Cusco and quiet enough to rest at night from a long day. Clean and water always hot, no problem with that. Bed were comfortable and heater works well on cold nights. Would stay again.

This was a last minute booking for me, however the staff was super friendly and accomplished. Created with with coco tea and showed me to my room. Place was fairly clean and a decent one night stay. Close proximity to the center, also has a patio at the top where you can see a beautiful Cusco landscape

Great location, charm, and staff - but very noisy
The hotel staff are great and the hotel has a lot of character, but staying in the triple room, which is located on the front of the building, made sleeping challenging. The hotel is located on a narrow cobblestone road - part of its charm - but there is a surprising amount of traffic running down that road 24/7 including the incessant honking no matter the time of day or night. So the road traffic and extremely squeaky wood floors (both in our room and neighboring rooms) made it challenging for us to sleep even with white noise on full blast. To be fair, adjusting to the altitude probably contributed to the sleeplessness but that's kinda the point - if the altitude adjustment is going to make sleeping more difficult to start with, having a quiet room without distractions would have been nice. It took us to the 4th (and final) night there to finally sleep pretty well.

Struggled with luggage checking in and checking out and no help was offered even with male and female staff around. Would not stay there again.

The location of this mom and pop hotel is fantastic, very close to Plaza de Armas. The staff is very helpful and attentive and will make you feel at home. The rooms are clean and the breakfast is delicious. It was very easy to book a trip to Machu Picchu through the hotel and it went off without a hitch. The view from our room was amazing (see photo)

Lights and noise start at 4 AM and do not stop. If you try to nap during the afternoon, don’t be surprised if the hotel personnel wake you up with full-volume music. Avoid if you plan on sleeping.

This is a great hotel! Not only does it have a nice location in Cusco, the staff is also great and goes out of their way to help their guests. We got to store our luggage at the hotel when we went to Machu Picchu and they helped us with transportation to and from the airport, as well as giving us detailed information about the city. Can't recommend this place more.

This property should not be listed as VIP. There was no heat. Wibdow was broken in open position with a screw sticking out do management knew about it. There was no heat and room was very cold. WiFi kept losing signal and water in shower smelled so bad I could not take a shower. And toilet clogged.

Very nice staff! Francesca helped my sister and me get a good deal on the places we wanted to visit. Location is close to a lot of places to eat/drink/shop. Nice views from the top of the hotel. They kept our bags which we visited Machu Picchu, which was nice.

Ideal and cheap for solo travellers
It is very close to the main square and all restaurants, shops and tour companies are just couple of blocks away. The hosts were really kind to personally pick me up on a weekend since the taxi driver was not working on Sunday. I had to leave and come to the hotel at very odd times because of the tours start early morning (2-4 AM). There was no issue leaving and coming to the hotel at any time. The guy at the reception counter was very sweet. I did not understand Spanish and he did not understand English, but we communicated through the app. I would recommend la casa de mayte if you are travelling to Cusco and want a cheap and convenient option.

You get what you pay for! The place is very clean with friendly staff but do not expect luxury, this is an older hotel! You get one towel and a soap. Breakfast is modest. I loved the location though as it was close to everything I needed.

Service service service! The staff went absolutely above and beyond to allow us to tour and site see Matchu Pichu. They allowed us to leave our bags over night even after we check out so that we could go into Aguas Calientes for a night with minimal baggage and come back after our trek. They also noticed we were in need of a tour guide and offered to make accomodations for us. We paid a reasonable price in comparison to the tours we found online and Francis took care of everything! From the train tickets to the hotel stay.. everything was handled. Could not have had a better experience :)

Amazing place to stay in Cusco
Such a great place to stay in Cusco! We stayed here for a total of 6 nights, before and after our Inca trail trek. The hotel is very cute with extremely friendly staff. There is laundry service on site for a charge of 8 soles/ kilo which was perfect for us. They stored our luggage for free while we were trekking (and had it all ready for us in our room when we got back 4 days later!!) We had a beautiful room looking over the entire city. Breakfast was simple but nice to wake up to (cheese, meat, bread, a pastry, avocados, fruit, coffee, hot chocolate ect.) They also have coca leaves and hot water available at all times to help with acclimatizing. No elevator, but only four floors, and the staff offered to help us out first day. It's located only a 10 minute walk to Plaza de Armas and another 5-10 mins from San Blas which has many great restaurants.

The room with a queen bed was too small (may be good for only one person but not two). The staff let us stay in a larger room for the first night. For the second night, we moved to the small room.
The staff were friendly and tried to help us to have a good stay in this hotel. The hotel is close to historic downtown and good restaurants.
The room with a queen bed was too small (may be good for only one person but not two). The staff let us stay in a larger room for the first night. For the second night, we moved to the small room.

We really enjoyed our stay with La Casa de Mayte. The beds were comfortable and they had hot water pipes for hot showers and sinks—not something you find everywhere in Latin America! The breakfast was varied and flavorful, and they always have hot water for coca tea available. We were able to leave our luggage at the hotel while we hiked the Inca Trail by booking a stay before and after the trail. The rooms are on the small size by North American standards, but my wife and I found it cozy. The staff are friendly and heldful. We are glad we staye here and recommend it!

The staff of this hotel is very friendly especially one lady whom i forgot the name, she asked me how my tours are and gave me suggestions where to go. The location is also within walking distance to the main attractions, the churches in plaza de armas, restaurants and you can even walk to cristo blanco if you can. The hotel is small yet very cozy. the interior is nice and the rooftop is to die for - you can see the towns roof and mountains. The breakfast consist of bread, fruits, tea and slices of ham. Coca leaves were also available during my stay. My room was also cleaned everyday.

6 min walk to Cusco center. Staff was polite, friendly and very helpful they are the greatest reason why im writing this review. They helped me organize my tours, find local shops, call a cab and plan for airport pick up and drop off. Most hotels close their front gates at night after 9pm so be ready to ring a bell if you arrive at night.

We had an amazing time. Francis picked us up at the airport and she started asking us about our plan, at first it seemed a little insistant, however we notice she was really interested in helping out. She is full of energy and you can tell she likes to get things done. She helped us to put a couple of things together and made sure we had the best experience. The hotel is cozy, the first night we had an amazing room, with incredible view, they after that changed us to a different room because of the amount of people in the hotel, the room was comfortable as well but not as nice. It is a little noisy outside, so if you're used to not hear anything this migth bother you (but probably most of the hotels are like this, since is a one panel window). Breakfast was good, it helps you start your day. It's pretty close to Plaza de Armas and the area is pretty safe to walk around at anytime. I would definitely recommend Casa de Mayte and make sure to ask for Francis! She was really great!

We stayed there 2 nights. The first night is perfect, nothing to complain. They offer airport pickup. But the second night we got a room which is right next to lobby and there were noisy people chatting and laughing at late night. Also, while we got in the room, many things were not ready, e. g. toilet papers, towels, hairdryer. Besides, the guy in reception work over 48 hrs, a bit too cruel.

This is definitely a hostel, just with private bathrooms. The shower never got warm. The room was very cold, but there was a space heater. The walls were dirty in the bathroom and it was generally unappealing. The pictures on hotels.com make this place WAY nicer than it is. It was tolerable for one night only, and if you are not going to shower.

Basic but adequate for the price we paid. Ok brea. Quite and near the main squ, 15 minutes walk. It is located on a narrow one way street and this is the only negative. We stayed here 4 nights, 2 prior to visiting Machupicchu and 2 after. Would stay again.
